Yacht Club cabin configuration on the Splendida

Hi there, I’m looking into a Mediterranean cruise on the Splendida in YC.

I’d love to know if it’s a ship with a lot of triple and quadruple cabins in the Yacht Club. The thing is, I’m planning to depart from Malta, and either the cruise ends during the French school holidays in October with a departure from Marseille—which means there’s a risk of lots of kids on board—or the other option is a departure on October 30th, which might also have some French kids during the first part of the cruise.

I read that some ships in the Fantasia class have more triple or quadruple cabins than others, but I’m not sure if the Splendida is one of them.

If anyone has that info… PS: This isn’t about starting a debate on traveling with or without kids… I’d just like a quiet week, and that’s not always easy in a small space with lots of children around.

Hi Nathalie,

The first 4 YCs on the old MSC Fantasia-class ships do have family cabins located outside the YC at the front, and you can add a third bed in a cabin (I’m not counting the Royales), but from what I remember after my few YC cruises on these ships, I didn’t experience any noise or physical disturbances from rowdy kids 😎. Some adults can be even worse, though...😉

I’ll let you know in two weeks after I get back from the YC Preziosa in Norway...

hi just a heads-up—the 4 ships in the FANTASIA class aren’t all set up the same way in the yacht club. The FANTASIA and SPLENDIDA specifically have fewer family cabins, and unfortunately some people have had their YACHT CLUB cruise ruined because of too many kids. so this question is totally legit

I just got back from a Yacht Club cruise on the Splendida, but I don’t have the answer to your question... I’m really happy with it, and I was pleasantly surprised: a traveler posted a fantastic review in 2024, mentioning how the ship was definitely showing its age. Had it been renovated? It was perfect—everything was great, except for the awful crowds at the ports.

Hi there 😉 Just to answer the original question—could you confirm if there were few kids in the YC section?

Definitely no kids

Hello,

AI response:

On the MSC Splendida, the MSC Yacht Club cabins can't accommodate a 4th bed (quad cabins).

it wasn't school holidays

Back from the Preziosa in YC, my last YC cruise—due to health reasons—was in 2018 on the Divina. The services have stayed more or less the same, and we came back delighted, but... 😮 Actually, we were there during school holidays, and I have to agree with Nathalie—there were a lot of kids in the YC (!). I’m not judging, but where there are kids, there’s entertainment, so there’s noise... It’s up to you to decide 😇

Hi there, Thanks for your feedback. On the PREZIOZA, there are more family cabins than on the Fantasia and Splendida, so more kids... ANYWAY. I’ll never understand why they allow children in the YC when the vast majority choose this area for the peace and quiet 😕 But hey, MSC only cares about profitability—customer comfort doesn’t seem to matter to them.

Hi, So it's the same issue in Haven if you hit American school holidays... And I'd say it might even be worse because there are really large cabins with really big families...
