Est ce que l'un d'entre vous connais les espèces dont que l'on aimùerait pas rencontrer en islande style "simulie" (petite mouche qui pique et donne de la fièvre)???
AVez vous déjà eu des soucis de ce genre? Si oui avez vous des conseils? des remèdes?
Il y a deux ans, nous avons rencontré quelques bêtes, genre micro-mouche, notamment autour du lac de Myvatn, désagréables par leur nombre et leur envie irrésistible de rentrer dans tous les orifices du visage, mais sans aucune piqûre qui gratte ni complication.
Il suffit de mettre un filet à moustiques autour de la tête (vendu à côté des cartes postales à Myvatn) pour avoir l'air complètement ridicule ... mais profiter du paysage en ouvrant les yeux !!!
Sans doute d'autres témoignages suivront ...

Il n'y a pas de moustique en Islande.
Quant aux moucherons c'est une race qui ne piquent pas. Généralement il y en a plus en Juillet qu'en août. On peut en trouver beaucoup autour du lac Myvatn (c'est d'ailleurs parce qu'ils sont là que ce lac porte ce nom !). La pluie ne les arrête pas par contre le vent les empêche de voler (vive le vent ! 😉). Après avoir testé les simulis en Ecosse (qui eux piquent 🙁) je peux t'assurer qu'en comparaison les moucherons islandais sont très supportables !
Autre précision : les "remèdes" contre les moustiques ne fonctionnent pas sur les moucherons.
Au niveau des moustiques, beaucoup de guides conseillent de faire attention mais il faut relativiser et voir que ceux ci apparaissent surtout l'été par haute chaleur au bord des lacs. Mais comme certains l'ont déjà fait remarqué, même dans ces conditions, il est possible de ne pas en croiser.

Non je ne me suis pas fait piquer car a priori ce n'etait pas encore "assez chaud " on y etait au mois de juin mais si tu vas en islande autour du lac Myvatn, dans le nord, tu as de fortes chances d'en croiser en effet c'est infecté de mouches et de moustiques. Après je ne sais pas si beaucoup de monde se fait piquer ou pas. Mais dans le routard par exemple ils disaient de chercher un répulsif aux simulies.

Les moustiques ne sont pas l'apanage seulement des pays chauds, tu peux être assailli par ces insectes à 1500m d'altitude dans le nord des Alpes tout comme en Suède ou en Ecosse
Par contre il n'y a pas de moustiques en Islande mais uniquement des moucherons qui eux ne piquent pas . Les moucherons islandais peuvent être très nombreux par endroits et par moment ( par temps tiède et en absence de vent) et devenir très pénible, ce n'est pas un hasard s'il se vend là-bas des chapeaux-filet de protection pour le visage . Lors de la préparation de repas en plein air, il m'est arrivé dans retrouver plusieurs dizaines dans ma casserole de pâtes ou dans mon bol de lait ....pas très grave : c'est une excellente source de proteïnes!

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question:

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
