Je pars dans 2 jours (le 28/02) en thailande pour un circuit de 15j avec "look voyages" et je suis allé voir mon médecin. Il m'a prescrit un traitement anti-paludéen, le pays est en zone 3 et m'a recommandé de prendre de la "malarone".
Mais en surfant un peu, je m'aperçois que ce traitement onéreux (96€ les 2 boites !!) ne s'avère pas si indispensable que ça !! Le site du ministrère de la santé ne juge pas le traitement indispensable.
Belle arnaque ou réelle inquiètude ? Qui croire ? Je suis un peu sceptique !!!

Depuis près de douze ans je vais en Thaïlande et les pays limitrophes de ce pays je n'ai jamais pris de traitement pour le palu, un bon répulsif contre les moustiques et c'est bon .

J'ai l'impression que chacun fait ce qu'il veut, qu'il n'y a pas vraiment de règles, tout dépend notre notion de "principe de protection" très à la mode en ce moment...
Il faut mieux prendre un cachet chaque jour que de récupérer le palu à vie, non ???

Car le problème avec le politiquement correct c'est que des années après le dernier cas de Palu un endroit est encore classé dans " risque palu" parce que justement " si y'en a un qui y va et qui le chope il va nous faire un procès !" donc, dans le doute, on va lui dire de suivre un traitement, comme ça on se couvre ! Il prendra un traitement qui lui coutera de l'argent, qui coutera du blé à la sécu (certains traitement sont remboursés, mais c'est un problème franco-français) ca va lui faire de la photosensibilisation si bien que'il chopera des coups de soleils ou qu'il n'osera pas s'exposer au soleil mais au moins il viendra pas nous enquiquiner parce qu'il a choper le palu.
C'est pour ça qu'aucun bouquin/guide n'ecrira qu'il n'y a plus de palu jusqu'a ce qu'un arrété gouvernemental OFFICIEL l'écrive.
Et comme le gouvernement n'a pas non plus envie de se mouiller " au cas ou y'en ai un qui le chope " ce decret n'est pas prêt de voir le jour.
c'est a chacun d'essayer de trouver les différents sons de cloches et de se faire son propre avis en toutes connaissance de cause ET ENSUITE DE L'ASSUMER ...
La dengue peut exister sous une forme hémorragique qui est parfois mortelle et, contrairement au palu, il n'existe aucun traitement.
Contrairement aux idées reçues, le palu ne se garde pas à vie, mais s'élimine complètement en se faisant bien soigner.

Je suis allée deux fois en Thailande, nous étions 3 et aucun de nous ne prenait de traitement anti-paludéen.
Les médecins sont en effet très partagés sur la question mais en Thailande, seule les zones ou la forêt est tres dense et humide sont suceptibles d'abriter qques vilains moustiques!
Auncun risque donc si tu ne sors pas des "sentiers battus" lors de ton périple! D'autant plus qu'il existe de tres bon sprays en pharmacie.. Sans oublier que les traitements anti palu entrainent souvent des désagréments dont on se passerait bine en voyage (photosensibilité de la peau, maux de tete...)
j'ai posé la même question à mon médecin - il m'a répondu que c'était inutile ! et m'a également dit la même chose que Thailsacien : le palu se soigne très bien et complètement si traité rapidement !
Je suis allée en dans le nord de la Thâïlande au mois d'août, dans le nord en plein Triangle d'Or et nous avons vu des moustiques vecteurs du Palu, mais le taux était à 99 % d'humidité....dire que le palu se soigne bien, peut être en tout cas le frère d'un ami en est mort...il y a quelques années (moins de 10 ans).
A chacun de faire ce qu'il veut, c'est vrai que les traitements sont du pur racket, maintenant, personnellement je préfère limiter les risques (le traitement ne couvre pas à 100 %) pendant les périodes de la saison des pluies, maintenant je ne peux rien dire sur les mois de saison sèche à mon avis les risques sont effectivement quasiment inexistant.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
