Je n'est jamais mis un orteil sur le sol américain , sa serait mon plus grand rêve et si je peu allié ma passion pour le vin et les état unis mon dieu quel plaisir . Je suis partie avec un site dont les hotes d'héberge et te nourrissent contre 4 à 6 h de labeur par jour.
j'ai fais plusieurs familles et ma fille aussi ça marche bien. tu peux trouver dans le monde entier contre une inscription pour 2 ans de 22e, c'est vraiment génial, je viens de découvrir un autre site qui propose la même chose mais je ne l'ai pas encore testé. Pour les States tu trouveras sans problème. Pour ne pas faire de pub, je te donnerai les coordonnéees en privé si tu veux.

Le woofing en soi n'est pas interdit aux Etats-Unis, mais pour le pratiquer tu dois avoir le droit de travailler sur le sol américain... ce qui n'est bien sûr pas le cas avec un visa de tourisme.
Les organismes de woofing feront tout pour éluder la question (ils ne veulent surtout pas être légalement co-responsables) et sache que tu risques gros (expulsion du pays avec interdiction d'y retourner pendant X années)
Tu as 28 Ans, as-tu une formation dans le métier du vin? Il serait plus simple de trouver un stage ou un vrai boulot rémunéré en faisant valoir ton expérience en France.

Réponse rapide: Oui.
Un travail bénévole reste un travail, notamment pour le woofing vu qu'il y a une contrepartie (en nature plutôt qu'en argent, mais cela ne fait aucune différence du point de vue de la loi). Il te faut donc au minimum un visa J-1, qui ne peut être délivré que par un organisme américain agréé (autrement dit: il te faudra trouver un sponsor-employeur *avant* de partir)
Clique ici pour un exemple récent d'une jeune femme partie faire du woofing sans visa de travail et qui s'est faite expulser.

Et oui, même si pas d'argent puisque logement et nourriture contre boulot, aux USA, c'est considéré comme du travail et donc cela devient illégal si effectué en tant que touriste.
De nombreux jeunes (naïfs) foncent là-dedans tête baissée sans penser aux conséquences.
L'INS (immigration aux USA) fait depuis toujours de nombreuses descentes dans les secteurs qui recrutent pas mal de clandestins et donc très facile de se faire prendre si l'on bosse dans l'agriculture, le btp et la restauration (mais c'est partout pareil, y compris en France, du reste).
Se faire prendre à bosser au noir aux USA coûte très cher et franchement cela n'en vaut pas la peine, à moins d'être dans un pays où l'on crève de faim et donc on accepte les (gros) risques.
A l'auteur du post, oui, il te faudra montrer aux autorités américaines que tu as de quoi subvenir à tes besoins (+ assurance médicale) pendant ton séjour aux USA sans avoir besoin de bosser.
Dis-toi bien, qu'en tant que Français, tu ne peux bosser sans permis que dans l'UE.
Et encore, le visa J1 ne s'applique pas vraiment au wwoofing car pour le J1 "summer work travel", il faut percevoir un salaire. Pour le J1 "intern" il faut être étudiant et arriver à faire passer son wwoofing pour un stage. Et les autres catégories de J1 ne concernent pas le wwoofing.
Et encore faudrait-il qu'un hôte ait envie de se compliquer la vie à remplir de la paperasse alors qu'il peut trouver facilement des gens prêts à "travailler" sans avoir de démarche à faire. 😕

After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
