Comme Montpellier est tout près de la mer, est-ce qu'il y a trop d'humidité? Est-ce qu'on a souvent la peau moite là et besoin d'utiliser le clim toute la journée?
J'envisage à m'y installer mais je déteste la chaleur. Pensez-vous que c'est supportable?

En tous cas pas dans Montpellier centre, il peut y faire très très chaud de mai à septembre, le pire mois étant bien sûr juillet (37-38 dans la journée et pas d'air le soir)
Pour bénéficier du beau temps sans en souffrir, il faut habiter dans un coin calme. Le top pour la fraîcheur c'est la campagne. il y a parfois 6 degrés de différence avec Montpellier à moins de 10 km..Donc dans Montpellier tu exclus l'Ecusson, le Centre Historique, car bondé de restos et de fêtes dès qu'il fait beau, mais tu crèves de chaud sans clim. Et ça peut être très bruyant même les fenêtres fermées. Le pire, c'est la fête de la Musique....Comment dire...C'est le bruit de l'enfer...Tous les restos et bars tirent le rideau d'ailleurs, pour éviter les débordements d'une foule souvent alcoolisée..
Pour la proximité de la mer, éviter Palavas, eau super sale (que nous montpelliérains appelons "pue la Vase") plutôt aller vers Les Aresquiers (vers Frontignan) ou le Grand Travers.
Les plages proches de Montpellier son moches et souvent sales. L'arrière pays nord ouest est fabuleux (Saint Guilhem le Désert, Cirque de Navacalles, etc.. les paysages sont grandioses et les rivières fraiches et agréables l'été, sans la foule de la plage)
J'y ai vécu de 2001 à 2014 et j'ai bien l'intention d'y retourner le plus vite possible car c'est un coin que j'aime infiniment.
Il fait plus chaud dans l'intérieur des terres que sur Montpellier et bord de mer soumis au brise marine fréquente qui rentre jusqu'à Montpellier et même au delà. Il peut faire 30ºC sur Montpellier et 36ºC a même pas 10km au nord de Montpellier au même moment. Par contre en effet sensation chaude tout de même, il faut aimé la chaleur comme moi 😇
Je suis sur Carnon-Plage, ville la plus proche de la Plage avec Palavas. Desservi par tram ou bus, la Plage est très propre.
En général c'est un climat plutôt sec, mais l'été et en automne quand le temps est orageux il fait très moite, il fait "lourd" comme on dit en français, et là c'est carrément étouffant.

Je rajoute aussi qu'en période de mistral ( généralement désagréable ), c'est à Montpellier et bord de mer qu'il fera le plus chaud ( plus chaud que dans l'intérieur des terres ) contrairement en période de brise marine ( plus souvent ) qui tempère un peu la chaleur dans ces zones.
Mais bon aprés, c'est certain qu'il faudra aimer la chaleur de Mai ( ou Juin ) à Septembre. En attendant les épisodes pluvieux ( souvent intense aussi sur Montpellier ) en automne!

Faux. Côté Maguelone l'eau est très propre. Et l'odeur ne vient aucunement de la saleté de l'eau, mais de la prolifération d'une algue dans les étangs.
Pour les étudiants motorisés, Palavas et Carnon sont d'ailleurs des bons plans : on peut y trouver des location pas chères de septembre à juin, et les deux villes sont assez agréable à vivre car habitées toute l'année et pas seulement en saison. Si on redoute la chaleur, c'est plutôt un bon plan.
La climat à Montpellier est méditerranéen, c'est à dire sec.
Donc il peut faire chaud l'été, mais plutôt dans les 28/30° que les 38° annoncés précédemment...
Je ne sais pas d'où tu viens en Inde, mais en tout cas la chaleur ici n'a rien à voir avec les températures que j'ai connu en Inde... Et pas d'humidité (sauf dans la période des orages d'automne, mais c'est seulement quelques jours).
Je supporte ce climat sans problème depuis près de 25 ans, et toutes celles et ceux qui me rendent visite l'apprécient !

Nous voulons faire quelques safaris, aller dans les villages, les montagnes, voir les plantations de thé, ... Mais aussi voir les tortues. I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

I’ve planned a trip to Asia for the first half of November.
I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.
In between, I’d like to gradually head north to visit some less touristy islands on the Thai coast.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Not sure if guidebooks, agencies, and other tour operators are keeping up by changing their visiting hours and offerings.
Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊
