J'ai pris ma décision (et j'espère m'y tenir !) j'aimerais bien partir quelques mois à partir de mars pour retourner vers ... ? (septembre au max.). J'aimerais bien commencer par la Thaïlande pour ensuite barouder au Vietnam et terminer en Indonésie en fonction de mon timing et de la météo.
En fait, plus que voyager, j'ai surtout d'abord besoin de casser mon rythme actuel (métro-boulot-dodo) qui m'épuise tant physiquement que mentalement. Mais je sais que ça va prendre quelques semaines avant que je puisse vraiment m'arrêter et profiter un peu au même endroit. Telle que je me connais, quand je vais arriver, je serai dans une frénésie de visites et de découvertes, avant de m'effondrer et de parvenir à profiter un peu.
Du coup, (et c'est là que vous intervenez lol) est-ce qu'il vaut mieux que je commence par la Thaïlande et que j'aille ensuite au Vietnam ou, compte tenu du temps qui commencerait à ne être plus adéquat en mars en Thailande, que j'aille directement au Vietnam où je pourrais rester plus longtemps (jusque mai ?) sans m'inquiéter de la météo ?
Par contre, si j'ai bien compris, à partir de juin mieux vaut quitter ces 2 pays et aller ailleurs ? (En Indonésie ou au Sri Lanka où la météo est plus favorable ?)
Je n'en sors pas du tout avec cette météo, les infos un peu contradictoires que je lis à gauche à droite, c'est assez agaçant de ne pas parvenir à se faire une idée correcte !
Et si vous avez des suggestions d'itinéraires ou d'autres destinations, je suis ouverte à vos conseils :)

Voyager, c'est trimbaler ses propres valises.
Ce ne sont pas tant les roadbooks chronométrés, les itinéraires optimisés ou le choix de supposées saisons favorables qui vont vous apporter ce que vous semblez rechercher: c'est votre aptitude personnelle à capter l'instant et à vous adapter.
Vous partez longtemps, compte tenu de la durée moyenne d'un séjour touristique. Alors partez tranquille, vous n'avez besoin que d'un passeport et d'une carte bancaire, ne prévoyez que le minimum, et commencez par la Thaïlande: c'est le pays le plus facile pour débuter sur le continent.
Et si vous devriez y voyager sous le soleil, vous y voyagerez aussi au plus chaud de l'année.

par contre l'été juin juillet est une tres bonne saison en Thailande - sous reserve de bien cibler ses regions
Vietnam c'est plus compliqué car il faut diviser Nord centre et sud
pour le Nord mars avril mai OK pour le Nord - a partir de mai tres chaud et grosses averse
pour le centre - a partie de mai chaud / torride
pour le sud - saison seche jusqu'en avril ensuite la pluie commence et deviet de plus en plus intense

c'est necore plus compliqué puisque la avec la mousson quand c'est bien d'un coté , il pleut de l'autre
grosso modo de mai a octobre bien pour BAlai ( sauf menace deruption du volcn)
et bien sur les regions cote Est et pluies diluviennes sur les regins exposées cote Ouest
bref - affinez d'abord
je dirais que la Thailande est le plus facile pour commencer mais ce sera chaud
donc peut etre commencer par l'Indonesie Bali Sumatra -- puis remonter sur la Thailande mais juin puis passer au Vietnam
mais la encore sur chaque destination traversee il faut vraimebt affiner
enfin le climat n'est qu'un element parmi d'autres critères de choix !

En fait, en termes d’itinéraire, je souhaite quelque chose de logique et cohérent : choisir un point de départ qui me permettra de me déplacer d’un point A à un point B, (peu importe le pays de départ en fait), principalement sans devoir faire marche arrière.
Je veux bien me déplacer du nord au sud ou inversement, d’est en ouest ou inversément, inclure des zig zag, mais pas aller, par ex., au Vietnam puis en Thailande puis revenir au Vietnam pour aller en Indonésie. Et en fait, comme j’ai du mal à déterminer la durée de mon séjour, je pense de plus en plus à ne faire qu’un pays …
À choisir j’aime autant éviter les intempéries autant que possible évidemment, mais l’itinéraire absolument parfait n’existe pas, tant pis si je dois me prendre quelques pluies/moussons sur la tête … Je ferai avec ce que je trouve en chemin !
Comme c’est une région (l’Asie du sud est) que je ne connais pas du tout, ce ne sera forcément que des découvertes pour moi !
Et tant que j’y suis, une idée du budget pour 4 mois au Vietnam ou en Thaïlande ? 5000 €, c’est juste non ?
il existe un tres grand nombre de liaisons avion low-cost en asie du sud est et donc
ce qui peut vous paraitre effectivement ''logique'' sans zig-zag ni marche arrière concerne principalement les routards du siecle dernier - qui se depalcaient uniquement en bus et autres transports ''lents'' et ou la route et la distance étaient le motif principal !
et de plus quand on compare les couts reels , le trajet avion represente souvent des avantages certians en terme de budget et de temps, en supprimant alors des longs trajets sur des regions moins interessantes
il n'y a donc pas de soucis majeur par exemple a programmer un periple Bangkok Nord Thailande, puis de la un depart avion pour le Vietnam ou Bali , puis revenir , comme vous le dites'' en arrière ...
la première chose a faire est donc de selectionner certaines destinations ( qui sont intéressantes a votre goût, et a vos centres d'interets personnes , et correspondent a une bonne periode climatique)
de décider combien de temps vous restez sur ces destinations soit en rayonnant
soit entre 2 points (sous reserve que le trajet presente aussi des interets )
ensuite et seulement ensuite essayer d'arranger cela en fonction d'un ordre ''logique'' des duree et des couts

Le Laos, vous l'avez oublié?
De la Thaïlande (du nord) traversez la partie nord du Laos (superbe, j'ai adoré)
pour rejoindre le nord Vietnam que vous descendrez tranquillement jusqu'au centre te sud si l'envie vous en prend pour un vol vers Bali.
Avril au Laos, en principe la saison des brûlis, cependant ces derniers ne nous ont dérangés plus que çà (fin avril 2017), ce pays est d'un calme, d'une sérénité salutaire, après les premiers feux jetés en Thaïlande il ne pourra que vous aller.
Précision, nous n'avons pas souffert de la chaleur.
Mai est un très bon mois pour le Vietnam surtout au nord, c'est un pays que je connais bien...je pourrai vous en parler.
Pour cette partie nord comptez large en temps, il y a de quoi faire.
Le centre, la météo devrait être bonne, le bord de mer tempère la chaleur..bon, les plages ne sont pas celles de Thaïlande mais on arrive à se faire plaisir tant il y a à voir, à faire.
Le sud fin mai début juin, çà se gatte, pluie de mousson surtout le soir et grosse chaleur, mais le delta serait quand même à envisager...à décider sur place.
Finir avec l’Indonésiebien sur...

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’ve planned a trip to Asia for the first half of November.
I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.
In between, I’d like to gradually head north to visit some less touristy islands on the Thai coast.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Not sure if guidebooks, agencies, and other tour operators are keeping up by changing their visiting hours and offerings.
Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.
