Nous partons en couple 17 jours au PEROU du 20 septembre au 07 octobre.
Cela fait 1 mois que je bosse sur notre itinéraire PEROU du sud. Cela sera notre 1er voyage en Amérique du Sud.
Outre le MP , je voulais absolument survoler les lignes de NAZCA quitte à être malade.
Et pour avoir un aperçu de l'AMAZONIE que nous ne connaissons pas, nous passerons 2 jours à PUERTO MALDONADO. Mon époux ayant des problèmes de genoux, pas de trek pour nous.
Nous ne sommes ni hispanophones, ni anglophones.
J'aimerai votre avis et tuyaux notamment sur ce qui est en gras :

Y-a-t-il un moyen de payer sur place qu’une partie du trajet et non pas jusque NAZCA.

Comme le planning est chargé, je souhaite réserver à l’avance même si je paye un peu plus cher afin de ne pas perdre de temps sur place. Et sur certains tronçons pour pouvoir visiter librement ou bien pour nous épargner de multiples changements, je songe à prendre des voitures avec chauffeur.
J’ai du mal à évaluer la faisabilité et le cout notamment Chivay-Llachon.
Nous avions pensé louer une voiture de Lima à Puno mais les simulations pour un one-way sont exorbitantes.
Sandoval est un endroit magique à découvrir absolument en partant tôt le matin...
Sinon je vous recommande une folie: Le train Puno-Cusco c’est une expérience magnifique...vu qu’il semblerait que cela soit votre premier voyage au Pérou.....Je n’ai plus votre programme en tête...mais je consacrerai du temps aux environs de Cuzco...Ballestas et Paracas ne valent pas la fatigue si l’on manque d’en temps......pareil l’oasis de Huancachina atteignable sans aucun problème depuis Paracas...Il y a pléthore de mini bus....Vousne gagnerez pas de temps à réserver d avance.Il y a 2 excursions à Ballestas départ 8heures ou 10heures du matin.En prenant celle de 8 heures vous pourrez continuer vers Nazca et y être le soir sans problème à mon avis.....sauf route fermée ce qui arrive de temps en temps. Bref je trouve que vous voulez trop voir en peu de temps.....mais chacun ses goûts
Nous avons fait en octobre 2016 un circuit de 16 jours au Pérou qui ressemble au vôtre.
Au départ, nous voulions y intégrer Paracas et les îles Ballestas et comptions également aller en Amazonie... Nous n'avions que 16 jours sur place et on a donc demandé conseil notamment à Arnaud Lagadec (un français installé à Cuzco) qui était notre interlocuteur privilégié. Il a su nous déconseiller de faire ces deux régions car notre programme était vraiment trop chargé selon lui.
Et il a eu raison. En effet, notre itinéraire s'est avéré tout à fait adapté à notre rythme. Ainsi, nous avons pu bien profiter des sites sur place sans courir sans arrêt, sans regarder la montre tout le temps... Si vous voulez y jeter un oeil :
Donc, si j'avais un conseil à vous donner, ce serait peut-être d'éliminer la réserve de Paracas et les îles Ballestas et peut-être aussi Puerto Maldonado...

Attention, danger pour le retour.
En cas de quelconque retard ( greve avec route bloquee, avion annule car pas sur le soir.....) votre retour est perdu.
Toujours arriver a Lima un jour avant le depart, par securite.
Pour le reste, itineraire surcharge pas de journee tampon pour se reposer, ou en cas de probleme de transport.
Ne pas compter sur le stop. Prefere le mini van plus rapides. Par exemple, apres la visite de Macchu, 2 heures a pied le long de la voie ferre, avec, avant le pont sur l urubamba, la ou la voie est double, une magnifique vue sur macchu, et a Hydro, vous avez entre 3 et 4 heures des vans pour Cuzco a 30 soles qui vous font arriver a 11 heures.

Non seulement votre circuit est super hyper chargé, mais certains jours ne fonctionnent pas.
2ème jour Bus Lima-Paracas : =>beaucoup de bus en direction du sud, au pire vous vous arrêtez à Pico et de là un taxi pour Paracas.
3ème jour TOUR ILE BALLESTAS-fin de matinée je cherche une solution pour trajet PARACAS-HUACACHINA : =>vers les 11h il y a un bus pour ICA (entre autres) de ICA, à peine 15 min de taxi pour l'oasis, retour idem pour y prendre votre bus pour Nazca
6ème jour Départ pour Chivay 11h00-14h30 La caldera- Bus (ou collectivos avec stop Yanque cruz del condor vers 16h30) pour Cabanaconde – Nuit CABANACONDE: =>Vous souhaitez vous arrêter aux thermes de la Caldera- Chivay? L'intérêt de l'arrêt à Yanque? Il n'y a pas de véritable service de bus dans la vallée et les arrêts se font sur le bord de la route.
7ème jour Bus (touristique ? pour arret cruz de condor) pour Chivay 09h00-11h00 – Pause Chivay- Bus pour Puno mais idéal transfert pour Llachon avec visite express Sillustrani -Nuit LLACHON: =>pas de bus touristique dans la vallée, vous demandez à vous arrêter à la cruz del condor et vous reprenez le suivant au vol, les bus pour Puno partent vers les 13h de Chivay. Vous arrivez vers les 18h à Puno (donc de nuit). Si vous souhaitez rejoindre LLachon, vous n'avez qu'un taxi (+/- 1h30 de trajet) une visite de Sillustani est inutile à cette heure-là.
8ème jour bateau pour Taquile- bateau pour Uros-bateau pour Puno- transfert bus/collectivo pour Llachon -Nuit LLACHON: =>La veille, vous n'aurez rien vu de LLachon mais vous repartez vers Puno le lendemain, idée curieuse, encore plus curieux de vouloir rentrer à Llachon le soir pour en repartir très très (au minimum vers 4h30) tôt le matin pour retourner à Puno.
9ème Llachon-Cuzco avec bus touristique départ de puno avec avant bus/collectivo de llachon ou possibilité Llachon-Juliaca et bus touristique – Nuit CUZCO. =>Les bus touristiques partent de Puno vers 7h du matin, aucun départ de Juliaca.
13ème jour vol PUERTO MALDONADO-CUZCO 12h40-13h30 – transfert CUZCO-OLLANTAYTAMBO (taxi avec stop pisac-moray-maras) - Nuit OLLANTAYTAMBO: =>le trajet est envisageable, mais sans les visites Cuzco/Pisac: 1h de trajet, visite du site mini 2h, sans parler du marché de Pisac (il commence à faire nuit), Pisac Moray 1 bonne heure, visite 1 h, .....
15ème jour MACHU PICCHU - Nuit AGUA CALIENTES: =>pourquoi ne pas envisager un retour à Ollantaytambo ce même jour?
16ème jour train AGUA CALIENTES-OLLANTAYTAMBO Perurail 08H53-10H52 EXPEDITION72 – collectivo OLLANTAYTAMBO-CUZCO – vol CUZCO-LIMA 18h02-19h28 – Nuit LIMA =>Si vous avez dormi à Ollanatytambo, vous avez la possibilité de visiter le site le matin de prendre un taxi pour pour Moray - Maras et arrêt possible à Chinchero pour pour arriver en milieu d'après midi à Cuzco.
17ème jour Vol Lima-Paris le matin: =>A espérer que votre vol de la veille au soir Cuzco Lima n'ait pas été retardé au lendemain.

Merci pour votre retour. Comme je ne pense pas retrourner de sitot au Pérou, je veux en voir un max. Et peut-être un peu trop.
Le train PUNO-CUSCO nous aurait bien plu mais le tarif est dissuasif. et le fait de ne pas avoir d’arrêt, notamment à "la chapelle Sixtine péruvienne" , nous avons peur de trouver le temps long.
Ballestas-Paracas permet de faire une pause avant Nazca. Mais nous allons peut-être zappé la reserve de Paracas et Huacachina et ne garder que Ballestas pour descendre directement à Nazca. Nous allons certainement faire que UROS (car les iles me paraissent toutes surfaites au final) et donc gagner un peu de temps pour Cusco.

Effectivement votre itinéraire ressemble bcp à ce qu'on souhaite faire. Et vu que nous hésitons sur la partie AMAZONIE, votre programme collerait à partir de Arequipa. En plus en terme de tarifs, cela correspond à notre budget. Je pense qu'on va vous copier.😛
J'ai d'ores et déjà réservé la Granja à Cabanaconde pour qui j'ai eu un coup de cœur.

J'avais prévu l'avant dernier vol pour Cuzco-Lima mais vous avez raison, je vais caler la journée de visite de Lima le dernier jour afin de parer à tout retard démesuré ( ou annulation). Je voulais qu'on s'acclimate mais nous aurons un peu près la même altitude tout le long de la cote.
En fait je ne voulais pas repartir de Agua Calientes le jour même afin que s'il y avait mauvais temps, nous puissions essayer de retourner au MP le lendemain matin à la 1ère heure.
En tout cas, merci pour la mise en garde pour le vol retour.

J'ai vu qu'effectivement pour Paracas-Ica-Huacachina, c'était relativement facile.
Pour Canyon de Colca, je voulais sortir un peu des lieux les plus courus mais les horaires de bus sont difficiles à trouver pour voir ce qui est possible mais l'adresse donnée par sacavoyage me semble un super compromis.
J'avais lu que bcp ayant été déçu par les iles, ils avaient trouvé plus d'authenticité sur la peninsule mais effectivement cela nous fera bcp de trajet et nous n'en profiterons pas donc je pense qu'on va rester sur Puno et qu'on va faire que le tour hyper touristique sur UROS.
on aurait plus de temps pour Cuzco et donc pour Pisac.
Le but ultime étant MP, je voulais prévoir une demi journée de secours en cas de mauvais temps ou autre. Mais effectivement c'est à réfléchir car on perdrait une demi journée.
Je me laisse encore une dizaine de jours pour fixer notre programme en continuant de fouiller sur les récits des uns et des autres.

Honnêtement, si vous êtes juste en temps, zappez carrément Puno. Vous n'aurez qu'un aperçu décevant du lac (pollué à cet endroit où vivent plus de 120 000 habitants) et les îles Uros qu'on atteint en bateau collectivo depuis Puno n'apportent vraiment rien - à moins d'en trouver qui soient plus authentiques - cela existe. Sans aller jusqu'à Llachon, qui est effectivement un peu éloigné, vous pouvez prendre un collectivo jusque Capachica, vous serez en plein altiplano et pourrez faire de chouettes balades. Il est probable que vous puissiez trouver à Puno des agences qui pourront vous organiser quelque chose de ce côté.
Oui, après le MP, inutile de redormir à AC, retour sur Ollantaytambo et y dormir, petite bourgade géniale, nathan y tiens un bar, ruelle superbe, seule ville inca respectant le plan inca de construction au Pérou !

I’m planning a trip with my partner (no kids this time—thanks, Grandma!) for two weeks to celebrate her 40th birthday. I’ve been thinking about Chile. We’re looking at leaving around September 18, 2027, starting in the south and returning in early April.
Here’s what I had in mind:
8 nights in a van in the Lake District and the start of the Carretera Austral (up to the Chaitén area). We’re set to arrive in Puerto Montt around 2:00 PM. We don’t want to go too far south since we’re planning to explore the heart of Patagonia (Chile and Argentina) with the kids when they’re older. The idea is to spend 3 nights discovering the lakes (up to Cochamó) and 3 nights in Pumalín Park. I’ve also added two transition nights.
7 nights in the Atacama to experience another side of Chile (San Pedro), taking a domestic flight from Puerto Montt to Calama in the early afternoon. We’ll depart for France in the early evening from Santiago.
IMPORTANT NOTICE for those planning to take a bus to another city, state, or destination from Salvador!
Starting January 20, 2026, the intercity bus station Rodoviária is changing its address!
The Rodoviária is leaving the Iguatemi area and will now be located in ÁGUAS CLARAS (about twenty kilometers from downtown Salvador).
A brand-new station (the most modern in Brazil) has just been set up there, accessible by car/taxi/Uber/metro.
Allow for much more transfer time (especially during rush hours), so leave early if you're heading to Chapada Diamantina or other Brazilian cities by bus.
Remember, there are also private transfers (even French-speaking ones) that can take you directly from your hotel in Salvador to your hotel in Chapada. Sure, it’ll be more expensive, but you’ll save on transfer time and comfort.

We're planning a trip to southern Chile in November. Here's our tentative itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.
Day 5: Boat tour on Laguna San Rafael.
Day 6: Day trip to Monte San Valentin Glacier.
Day 7: Excursion to the Marble Chapels, then drive to Puerto Guadal. We'll stay there for 3 nights.
Day 8: Walk along Lago Carrera and return to Puerto Guadal.
Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.
What do you think of this itinerary? Is it doable in 17 days?

I’ve sketched out a rough itinerary but I’m not sure how to arrange it—considering the climate, year-end holidays, and Carnival.
Basically, I’m thinking of the Amazon, the Northeast coast with Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (but skipping Chapada Diamantina),
Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit.

After lots of research and quotes, it’s the only one offering Uyuni at a reasonable price while meeting all the criteria: transfer to the border, private-room accommodation, and a very fair rate. Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.
My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?
In France, banks don’t issue credit cards, right—or am I mistaken?

I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca.
From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?
Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule?
After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?
The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!
I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.
I wrapped up in Sucre—this city is gorgeous, all white, with such a chill vibe. And the salteñas + ice cream? Next level 😋
Bottom line: Bolivia’s a bit rough around the edges, sometimes exhausting (shoutout to the altitude), but it’s 1000% worth it.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?
What would be a fair price (keeping in mind that 40 to 50 € is the max I can spend on accommodation, breakfast, and dinner)?

We’re heading to Patagonia for three weeks in November, starting from Coyhaique in Chile.
We won’t have a car, and I’m struggling to find information about transportation options for a few parts of the itinerary we’d like to do:
1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

we’re planning a round trip from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, to Salta, Argentina, in two months. On the way there, we’ll take the northern route via Susques, Route 27, then 52. But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...

we’ll be in Calama at the end of March 2026, and I’m looking for a reliable car rental there for a 7-day road trip to Salta, Argentina. But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.
