Next April, I’m planning a trip (the 1st) to Brazil. I’ll have 12 days there (not counting the 13th day for the return). I’ll arrive on 22/04 in the early evening in Rio de Janeiro. The return flight is from São Paulo on 04/05 in the afternoon. I know 12 days is very little for such a big country, which is why I’ll focus on a relatively small area: the southeast (though "small" is relative!). I’ve started mapping out the main stops for my trip, which would be: - Rio de Janeiro: 4 to 5 days? - Ilha Grande and maybe Paraty: 2 to 3 days - Iguazu Falls: Brazilian and Argentinian sides: 2 days - São Paulo: 1 to 2 days

What do you think? Is this reasonable? There are about 250/260 km between Rio and Paraty. I’d like to make the trip by rental car. What do you think? A car is definitely much more practical and faster than the bus. 12/13 days is short—I can’t afford to lose too much time in transit. To get to Ilha Grande, I understand there’s a ferry that shuttles between the mainland and the island. From which city can you take the ferry? Mangaratiba? Conceição de Jacareí? Angra dos Reis? If I arrive by rental car, where can I park it? I think cars are banned on the island, right? That’s where I’m at with my planning. Hi there, we’ll have 15 days total, which means 13 days of travel on the ground. We’re planning to visit Brazil during the second half of July. I’m not naive enough to think we can see a huge chunk of Brazil in such a short time, so I’m focusing on a specific area to make it relaxed and enjoyable.

We’re flying out of Madrid. I was thinking of spending 3 or 4 days in Rio, 3 days in Iguazu (I initially thought one day would be enough, but I’ve read it’s highly recommended to visit the Argentine side as well), 3 or 4 days on Ilha Grande, and 3 days in Paraty. I’m not entirely sure about Ilha Grande in July, but I’m looking for a place to unwind and enjoy the sea (if the water’s good then).

I’ve noticed a lot of people fly into Madrid and return from São Paulo (or vice versa). What’s the advantage of that? It doesn’t seem problematic (based on Google Maps, though I’m no expert) to navigate from Rio. Is there a more efficient order for visits to minimize travel time?

As you can tell, I’m just starting to plan, but I’ll need to book the international flights soon. I’ll probably have more questions for those of you who are patient enough to help! ;)

Hi, We’re considering a discovery trip to Brazil in summer 2025 for a maximum of 3 weeks, transport included. Since the must-see sites are very far apart, we’ve selected the ones that seemed the most spectacular and have little or no equivalent elsewhere in the world. Originally, we were thinking of heading down to Paraty / Ilha Grande... but after checking, the water temperature seems a bit too cool, so we’d prefer to go to Bahia state for a bit more warmth. We’ve already traveled to Brazil several times and know the south of Rio as well as the region between São Luís and Fortaleza, and Chapada Diamantina... We’re making a family dream come true: spending a month in Brazil from July 19 to August 20. We’ll land in Rio and spend 6 days there (we’ve finalized a home exchange for a lovely apartment in the Copacabana neighborhood). After that, we’re heading to Minas Gerais by rental car for 11 days (Tiradentes, Ouro Preto, and the Inhotim Institute), then the Costa Verde, and finally 2 days in São Paulo.

We’ll be traveling with our three kids, ages 17, 14, and 9, who are real travelers and good hikers. Goes hand in hand, right? 😄

For now, we’ve planned to visit Ilha Grande (4 days) and then Paraty and its surroundings (3 days). What do you think? Ilha Grande appealed to us for its hikes and beaches, but couldn’t we do that along Paraty’s coast? I’ve read mixed reviews about Ilha Grande...

Hi there, We’re spending 3 weeks in Brazil, arriving in São Paulo—a couple plus a teen—and we’ll have a rental car. We especially love nature: hiking, wildlife watching, birds, etc. We’re planning to wrap up with a week around Paraty and Ilha Grande. We’re not really into visiting big cities like São Paulo or Rio unless you think we’d be missing out big time.

So we’ve got 2 weeks to explore the south/southwest region of São Paulo. What do you recommend? National parks? Off-the-beaten-path nature spots? Iguazu Falls?

I asked two agencies to put together a circuit with transfers, hotels, organized visits, and one domestic flight. I don’t speak Spanish or Portuguese. 6 nights in Rio 3 nights on Ilha Grande 3 nights in Paraty Domestic flight to Salvador for 3 nights 3 nights in Morro de São Paulo 1 night in Salvador before flying back to France. For this itinerary, I’m going with Tourlane, but I’m still waiting on the second quote from Comptoir des Voyages. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the itinerary and especially on these agencies—thanks for any feedback! 😊

We’re leaving on February 19th for 13 days in the Northeast of Brazil, with my husband and our two kids (19 and 17). Here’s our itinerary: We’ll arrive in Fortaleza and stay in a guesthouse for 3 nights. Then we’ll hit the road with a private driver, heading to Pipa via the beach of Ponta do Mel, passing through Galinhos, São Miguel, and Natal.

Do you think this is a good itinerary?

Initially, I was planning to go from São Luís to Fortaleza (Lençóis Maranhenses...), but I was advised against it since it’s not really the season and the dunes and lagoons would’ve been empty. I can’t change the itinerary now, but I’m a bit worried I’ll be less impressed by this one. I’d love to know if it’s still worth it?

Bonjour, Vous qui avez visité beaucoup de pays. Pourriez-vous m'aider à choisir ma prochaine destination SVP ? Je voyage avec mon mari (la soixantaine tous les 2) sacs non pas à dos mais à roulettes, hotels à budget moyen. J'organise tout moi même. Nous partons 3 mois de Noel à mi mars chaque année. Nous avons fait toute l'Asie du sud est, que nous avons beaucoup aimé. En Amérique nous avons fait et aimé : le Nicaragua, l'Equateur avec la Galapagos, Cuba et le Yucatan au Mexique. A force, nous ne savons plus où aller, sachant que nous souhaitons du soleil et un peu de plage ou des îles au moins de temps en temps dans le voyage. Cette hiver, nous avons tenté l'Inde du sud et les Andamans, mais cela ne restera pas notre voyage préféré. L'hiver prochain, je tenterais bien la Colombie. Qu'en pensez-vous ? L'Argentine est aussi faisable à cette époque au point de vue climat. Quels pays me conseilleriez vous ? La Bolivie aussi a l'air chouet. Merci de vos suggestions averties !

Bonjour, Je pars pour 3 mois en Amérique du sud et centrale et mon voyage débute par la Colombie au mois de mars prochain. je ne connais absolument pas l’Amérique du sud. J'étais plutôt jusqu'ici un inconditionnel d'Asie du sud Est. 😏 Sauf un périple de 5 semaines au Mexique l'an dernier je découvre carrément l’Amérique. Tout ceci m'amène à quelques questions: 1°) Climat en mars en Colombie ? 2°) Je voudrais alterner plages et visites culturelles, proposition d’itinéraire (On peut statuer sur 4/5 semaines) ? 😎 3°) Recommandations/conseils/propositions, n'hésitez surtout pas. Je voyage seul et je n'ai pas prévu spécialement de louer de voiture) 4°) Je la pose pour la forme, je ne parle pas espagnol mais anglais. j'ai galéré au Mexique mais bon à renfort de sourire, de gestes et surtout d'un traducteur sur mon smart phone je me suis plutôt bien démerdé quand même. j'imagine qu'en Colombie c'est la même ? - Arrivée le 10 août à Bogota -Du 10 au 12 août : visite de bogota --> loger dans le quartier de la candelaria -12 août vol vers Perreira puis taxi jusqu'à Salento - Du 12 au 15 août : Salento (vallée de cocora, filianda) -Du 15 au 17 août : Jardin --> y aller avec un chauffeur privé / taxi pour gagner du temps (environ 5h30 de route) --> avez-vous des contacts ? -Du 17 au 20 août : Medellin (3h de bus depuis Jardin) --> visite de guatape sur une journée -20 août prendre l'avion de medellin à Carthagène --> rester 2 nuits (du 20 au 22 août) - Du 22 au 24 août : isla grande (ile à environ 1h de carthagène en bateau, dormir sur place) - 24 août : retour à carthagène puis prendre un bus jusqu'à SANTA MARTA puis taxi jusqu'à Taganga (ou autre village proche du parc tayrona) --> passer 2 nuits du 24 au 26 août -Du 26 au 27 août : visite et nuit au parc TAYRONA -Du 27 au 30 août : 3 nuits à Palomino -30 août : vol de Santa Marta jusqu'à Bogota puis nuit à Bogota -31 août : Départ de Bogota à 23h10

J 4-5Le lendemain bus pour Salento, long trajet donc le lendemain, visite des plantation de café --> avez vous des conseilles pour visite ou balade à cheval J-6 Retour en bus sur Medelin, soirée à Medelin J7-J8 vol ver Carthagène, visite de carthagène J9-10-11-12 Ile Rosario 2j et Ile Mucura 2j -->est il possible d'aller d'isla grande à ile Mucura en bateau, budget? j13 Vol vers Santa Marta, J 14 bus pour le parc tayrona, visite et baignade 1j--> Un hotel dans une ville à l'entrée du parc et une journée pour aller se baigner sur piscina est ce suffisant ou prevoir plus? J 15-16-17-18-19j vol Santa Marta->San Andres -->Providencia, -->encore envi de trainer à la plage profiter d'un endroit paradisiaque et un peu de plongée, -->avez vous des conseilles pour hébergement bungalow au bord de l'eau?

Si les connaisseurs de la Colombie peuvent me dire si cet iteneraire est cohérent et si vous avez des réponses pour les parties à trou je suis preneur!!

Je prépare mon voyage familial en colombie. Nous partons en décembre avec mon mari et mes filles de 8 et 10 ans.

Nous sommes 20 jours sur place et souhaitons faire:

la Région du café: vers salento et marche dans la région Cocora (Jardin?) Medellin et Guatape El Choco Amazonie

Nous voyageons en sac à dos et sommes amoureux de la nature, la déconnexion complète, la découverte à pied, la randonnée. Notre budget est réduit, nous privilégions les transports terriens mais il semble qu'El Choco et Leticia ne se rejoignent que par les airs.

Quel itinéraire nous conseillez-vous d'emprunter? Quel temps accorder à chaque lieu? Nous arrivons un soir tard à Bogota mais ne souhaitons pas y rester: quelle 1ère étape me conseillez-vous?

El Choco: Ou trouver les vols entre Bahia Solano et Medellin? Peut-on les prendre sur place sans craindre une envolée des prix?

Below is our draft itinerary (with questions at each stop):

29/11: France → Colombia. Overnight in Bogotá. 30/11: Exploring Bogotá: La Candelaria and Montserrate. 01/12: Gold Museum (closed on Mondays). Drive to Zipaquirá (1.5 hrs) to visit the Salt Cathedral. Then drive to Villa de Leyva (3 hrs). Explore the town. Overnight in Villa de Leyva. 02/12: Return to Bogotá via Laguna de Guatavita (5 hrs). Is it worth the detour? Overnight in Bogotá. 03/12: Flight to Pereira. Drive to Salento. Overnight in Salento. 04/12: Cocora Valley (hike among the wax palms) followed by a drive around the area. Are there any waterfalls or other sights nearby? 05/12: Visit a coffee finca—any recommendations? Then explore the surroundings: Filandia, Manizales, waterfalls? Hot springs? Which ones? 06/12: Flight to Medellín. 07/12: Exploring Medellín: Centro, Plaza Botero, Comuna 13. How do you visit Comuna 13? Is it easy to get around Medellín? Metro? Hi there, I’ll be in Brazil from December 10th to the end of February. I’ve sketched out a rough itinerary but I’m not sure how to arrange it—considering the climate, year-end holidays, and Carnival. Basically, I’m thinking of the Amazon, the Northeast coast with Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (but skipping Chapada Diamantina), Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit. Is this doable in 3 months? Which direction should I take for this itinerary? Thanks in advance!

Bonjour, jen suis a planifier mon itinéraire pour le Brésil en février 2020. Il se trouve que le carnaval aura lieu pendant ces dates.... mais logistiquement...Je serais ailleurs qu'à rio pendant ces dates. Selon votre opinion, est ce que je devrais ajuster mes déplacements en fonction du festival ou je peux aussi en profiter dans une autre ville?

Je pars en Colombie dans 2 semaines et ce pour 6 semaines. Pas encore une idée trop claire de mon itinéraire, pas trop envie de programmer mais tout de même pour les bus :

Y a t'il des trajets à éviter de nuit ? Que ce soit pour des raisons de sécurité ou autre ? Je sais que je suis assez sensible au mal des transports donc les petites routes de montagne la nuit j'aimerais bien éviter si possible ... Les grands axes classiques pas de problème j'imagine ?

Enfin avez-vous des compagnies à me recommander ou au contraire d'autres qu'il faut mieux éviter ?

Bonjour, je souhaite faire un voyage en mode sac a dos low cost, et si possible sans devoir réserver mes auberges de jeunesse en avance. Ma seule certitude est de faire un itinéraire qui passe par Rio et les chutes igaçu. Croyez-vous le tout possible et quel sont les meilleurs mois pour entreprendre ce genre de voyage sans aucune réservation d'avance? Je compte partir un mois et demi.
