Review of a cruise on the Celebrity Infinity in Greece
Hi there, Here’s a little recap of my cruise on the CELEBRITY INFINITY from February 14th to 23rd. Itinerary: Athens / Thessaloniki / Thessaloniki / Kusadasi / AT SEA / Cyprus / AT SEA / Rhodes / Heraklion / Athens / Athens Since the cruise ended on Monday, we had to leave the ship on Sunday to go back to work on Monday 😕 Bring on retirement! This was our 34th cruise, and the price was around 1,300 € per person for AQUACLASS. Just to remind you, AQUACLASS includes spa access, a cabin with a hydro-massage shower, and a dedicated restaurant. For once, I have to say we didn’t get a good deal—prices dropped two months before departure, and we could’ve had AQUACLASS in a guaranteed cabin for 1,000 € per person. So, I think for January/February cruises, it’s better to book last-minute. We arrived in Piraeus on the 12th in the evening. The hotel was great—"Phidias Piraeus Hotel"—close to the center, with a spacious room (upgraded by Booking to a junior suite). The breakfast was decent, and the price was 125 € for two nights, all included. The cherry on top? The hotel offers free shuttles to the cruise ship on departure day—really awesome! We’d never visited Piraeus before, and it was a lovely surprise. Not only was the weather gorgeous, but the walk was really pleasant—the port, the beach, the little streets. It was way nicer than I’d imagined! TO BE CONTINUED: BOARDING 😉

Mediterranean Cruises: MSC or Costa?

Layover in Gothenburg
Hi there, In June we’re taking a cruise called "Pearls of the Baltic" on board Renaissance CFC Cruises—with stops in Kiel (Germany), Gdańsk (Poland), Rønne (Bornholm), Copenhagen (Denmark), and Gothenburg (Sweden).

This layover in Gothenburg doesn’t really inspire me—could you tell me what’s worth seeing? Are there locals offering excursions around the area by van right when you leave the port, like you often see on Caribbean cruises?

I saw there’s a hop-on hop-off bus, but I’m not sure if there’s a stop near the terminal.

What are your suggestions? Thanks in advance! Best regards,

Renaissance Promenade Cabin
We're considering a new cruise soon and would like to try the Renaissance. The uniqueness of the promenade cabins appeals to us, but could anyone give us some insights on the following points: - Is the glass door sufficiently tinted to prevent outsiders from seeing into the cabin? - Is the soundproofing good enough to block out conversations on the promenade deck? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Viva
Hello, We’re sailing on the Norwegian Viva from Lisbon to Galveston. From what I’ve read on the NCL site, there’s no formal night; is that correct? If so, that’ll lighten the suitcase! 😊 The ship stops in Cabo Rojo in the Dominican Republic, and I haven’t found much info on this stop—it seems to be recent. I’m thinking of just heading to the seaside near the ship, but if you’ve got another **bon plan**, I’m all ears. Same for La Romana: last time we went to Bayahibe Beach, so if you’ve got another idea... Thanks in advance!

CFC Travel Insurance Certificate
Hi there, we’re planning an Adriatic cruise in September 2025 on CFC’s Renaissance ship—we’ve already sailed with them four times. For this new cruise, when entering passenger details, we’re asked to check the box “I have taken out insurance,” which is the first time this has been required. For recent sailings on the CFC Renaissance, did they ask you for an insurance certificate? Thanks

COSTA cancellation fees
Hi, We need to cancel a cruise we had planned for June 2026. We were surprised by the amount of the cancellation fees, which until now were 50 € per person more than 60 days before departure. The agency we asked to handle the cancellation informed us that, since 17/05/25 and the new general terms and conditions of sale, the cancellation fees more than 60 days before departure amount to 100 € per person. Review of Explora 2
Hi there, I’m about to book a cruise on Explora 2 in May 2026... (option) I’ve never used this company before (did AZAMARA in 2024 and September 2025). The ship is more luxurious—really tempting, plus the amenities! Have any of you taken a cruise with them on one of their ships? Thanks for your feedback, good or bad... 😊😬

Review of Wondercruises Agency
Hi there,

Does anyone know the agency "Wondercruises" based in Belgium?

I came across a (really interesting) cruise on the Mein Schiff 4, and apparently, no French agencies sell Mein Schiff cruises. After several searches online, only Wondercruises and Seascanner work with them.

The advantage of Wondercruises is that they’re partners with "Flying Blue," and you can earn miles.

I love a good challenge, so why not try out this company—it seems pretty solid!

Best regards,

Questions about layover in Naples
Hi there, I have a layover in Naples in September and have two quick questions: - Does the boat still dock in the city? - Hotel: Could anyone recommend a 3- or 4-star hotel in the city that you’ve personally stayed at (I’m past the age for "editorial recommendations")? Ideally, it’d be close to the "San Carlo" theater, where I need to go in the evening. Thanks everyone! Francis

Combining cruises refused: an incomprehensible disappointment with CFC
I just got a mind-blowing response. I wanted to book 2 back-to-back cruises in the French West Indies on the Renaissance—arriving in Guadeloupe on December 23, 2025, and returning from Martinique (the end-of-cruise city) on January 13, 2026.

And guess what? It’s impossible because they’re pre-packaged deals. The only solution is to book just one cruise—not two in a row. It’s UNBELIEVABLE.

CFC, the French cruise company—well, no. It’s actually CAC, an English cruise company with "civil servants" wearing blinders.

I’ve never seen anything like this. I’ve often combined two back-to-back cruises without any issues, but those were on "bare" ships. All they had to do was get me to Guadeloupe with the first cruise and have me depart with the second cruise’s start. It’s easy to book plane seats!

For the record, last year I did two back-to-back cruises in the Mediterranean, spending Christmas and New Year’s on the same ship.

Handing control over to the English wasn’t a good solution.

Oh well, I’ll find somewhere else with more open-minded people.

Lombok - Komodo Cruise
Hi there! We’re a group of 4 and we’d love to do a 4-day, 3-night cruise from Lombok to Komodo with a private cabin. Any suggestions for affordable companies? We’ve already looked into Travel Wise, Captain Komodo, and Wanua. Wondering if there are others we should check out. Thanks a bunch! 🙂

MSC evening dress code

Choosing between two MSC cruises to Norway
Hi there, Is it possible to help me choose between two MSC cruises to Norway? The first one: departs from Copenhagen, then Hellesylt, Nordfjordeid, Flåm, and finally Kiel. The second one: departs from Warnemünde, then Sandnes, Bergen, Kristiansand, and finally Hamburg. Note that the price difference is 150 €, with the first one being more expensive. Cheers,

Reviews on Silversea Spirit
Hi there,

I’m about to book a (potential) cruise with Silversea Spirit (South Africa, Madagascar, Seychelles...) sometime next year. Since I’ve never sailed with this company before and the reviews on Cruise Critic are pretty "mixed" (especially for this ship), I’d love to hear if anyone has already traveled with them or been on this boat.

Thanks in advance!

Your experiences with AIDA cruises
Over ten years ago, we took a cruise on the Costa ROMANTICA. Since then, we’ve never had the pleasure of finding another company for a cruise in the Indian Ocean with stops in Réunion, Mauritius, the Seychelles, and Madagascar. I recently discovered on this site that the German company AIDA offers the exact same cruise in December! But we don’t speak German and don’t know this company at all. Thanks if you can give us any insights about the ship *Stella* and the quality of their services
