Departure is fast approaching. The decision is made—we’ll be returning to Laos via the north. We land at BKK at 7:30 AM. Buses to Chiang Rai leave in the evening starting at 5:30 PM. We’ll head straight to Chiang Khong afterward. Now, a lot of questions remain:

What’s the most budget-friendly way to get to Mochit 2 terminal? Can we buy the bus ticket the same day at the terminal, or do we need to book it in advance? So far, all my searches point me to 12GO for reservations. Where can we leave our luggage while waiting for the bus to Chiang Rai? In Chiang Rai, where can we take the bus from Bus Terminal 2 to Bus Terminal 1? Do you know the bus number? On Thailandee.com, the price is 70 THB/person, but on 12GO, the minimum price is 17 €—can you spot the mistake?

Do we need to redo the TDAC when we return to Thailand, or will the departure one still be valid?

Hi, I booked flight tickets with Turkish Airlines 15 days ago for a round-trip for 4 people to Thailand in August 2026. On my reservation, I only included my married name, but on my passport, my maiden name appears along with my married name. I only noted one first name—I didn’t include my second or third first name. For my husband and children, I only included their first first name. I called Turkish Airlines a few days ago as a precaution, and they were very helpful, guiding me through the process of adding a comment to request the modification with scanned passports. They confirmed it would be free of charge. Today, I received a response from TK saying I need to buy new tickets with the required changes and then provide them with the new reservation details to be reimbursed for the initially purchased tickets. I called Turkish Airlines again, and they advised me to file a complaint using the initial comment I made. I did that tonight, explaining that I made these requests as a precaution—I fly every year and have never included my maiden name or other first names on my reservations, and it’s never been an issue. Plus, I can’t afford to pay for new tickets since prices have skyrocketed (+1000 € for 4 people). I’m really worried and anxious about this situation. We’ve been saving for a while to afford this trip, and I hope it gets resolved favorably. Have any of you experienced similar issues or situations like this? If so, how did it go at the airport? I’m planning a trip to Thailand in October or November, and I wanted to check about health precautions: malaria treatment, vaccinations (hepatitis A or others...). I’ll mostly be in the northern region, around Chiang Mai, where I’ll spend a lot of time in nature and the mountains. Then I’ll head south to Phuket or Krabi and visit Khao Sok National Park. I’ll finish up in Bangkok, with a likely detour to Kanchanaburi.

From what I understand, for a stay of less than 60 days, I don’t need a visa (I’m a French national)? I just need to fill out the TDAC form 3 to 5 days before arrival?

We’re leaving in November 2025 for a stay of more than 60 days in Khao Lak and need to apply for a 30-day extension on-site to be allowed to stay nearly 90 days. Should we declare the flight ticket dates (November 13, 2025, to February 9, 2026) directly on the electronic form (if it’s applied from May 1st) before leaving, at the risk of being denied entry (over 60 days), or declare 60 days and quickly apply for a 30-day extension once there? Are flight tickets checked upon arrival (Phuket) or earlier on the electronic entry request? I remember that the arrival check is quite "serious" and after 18 hours of travel, you’re pretty impressionable! Thanks for your help, Best, Bruno.

After a long travel hiatus, we’re (finally) back on the road for some getaways! Now with two kids in tow, we’re heading to Thailand for two weeks next February (a destination that’s stood us up twice before but seems perfect for our first big family trip).

We’d have loved to stay longer, but two weeks is already a great start and will be plenty enjoyable.

Key points: - Experience Thailand, not just live our usual routine in Thailand - Avoid crowds as much as possible, even though February will be busy - Not big city fans, so Bangkok (BKK) will be kept to a minimum - Focus on nature, the sea, forests, waterfalls, hiking, kayaking...

At this stage, here’s the rough itinerary I’m considering: - Arrival at 7 AM + a day in BKK

February 9th is a pivotal day during my trip to Thailand. Up until this date, my focus had been on cities, temples, and other urban landmarks. Starting February 10th, I’ll finally leave the city behind for the outskirts—one town, one life, farther from tourism, more real, more authentic... Then comes the bucolic surroundings of Chiang Mai, nature, the countryside, the mountains.

This morning, I head to visit the ethnographic museum. I’d been told about another one, but it’s permanently closed. I wonder if it’s the same one that might have changed its name and location.

I thoroughly enjoy visiting this museum. At first, I’m a bit annoyed because the place is packed with noisy school groups blocking the display cases without even showing the slightest interest. But soon, their chaperones manage to lead them into another room, giving me some peace. They maintain this distance throughout the tour, allowing me to explore the museum in complete tranquility. I really appreciate their tact.

I’m amazed by the absolutely stunning fabric displays and the countless everyday objects, especially the very old pottery. There’s so much beautiful basketry and intricately carved wood. The statues are also incredible... After seeing all of them, I no longer feel like buying any from the shops.

On my way back, not far from my hotel, I discover a rather unique place that only serves one drink, which they’ve made their specialty: egg coffee! A pretty surprising novelty. I have to try it.



At the bottom of the cup, they pour a layer of milk, topped with a layer of liquid coffee, followed by a layer of egg yolk, and finally a top layer that turns out to be a mix of coffee and cocoa powder. It’s a cold drink that, in the end, doesn’t have much flavor, and the price is pretty steep for such a small cup. You’re paying for the exclusivity!

Later in the day, I venture once again into small alleys, something I love doing when exploring a new city—no specific goal, just wandering east of the city, outside the walls.



I encounter very few tourists there and discover unsuspected little shops overflowing with lovely items, much cheaper than what you find in the heart of the tourist district. Then I wander through the floors of Warorot Market. I discover another kind of temple there: the temple of good deals. I love finding clothes that are really original for locals, not the flood of shirts and pants that tourists love but no Thai would ever buy, which invade the shops in the "Historic Square." I stop in my tracks in front of a stall with beautiful shirts featuring stunning geometric patterns in elegant color combinations and very short sleeves. Hmm, these would be perfect for showing off my biceps, one of which is adorned with the magnificent Ganesh tattoo I got last year in Bali. "When you’ve got nice things, you’ve got to show them off!" he said. 😜🙏💪 I pick out two for 380 baht and negotiate them down to 300. But the seller won’t go any lower. I understand I’ve reached the limit of her commercial possibilities. Just as I’m leaving the shop, happy with my purchase, my ever-helpful inner voice, Petite Voix, suggests: - You didn’t try them on because you were too lazy to take off the one you’re wearing and also because of the sweat, but you could just put one on over the one you’re wearing. It’s light enough that it won’t bother you.

I go back to the two sellers, who burst out laughing when I ask to try them on. - Oh no, it’s way too small for you! It’s a women’s shirt! - But they don’t look particularly feminine in style! And I chose XXL... I put the shirt on, and of course, it won’t close. Then I notice the buttons are on the wrong side. That’s why the sleeves seemed so short!!! They put the shirts back on the rack and refund me without any fuss, commenting amid total hilarity: - Well, thank goodness you tried it on just as you were leaving the shop!

Since I don’t want to walk too much before tomorrow’s first Big Outing with the driver, I end my stroll with a visit to two very pretty temples recommended by Joël.



I’d rather not post more temple photos. But these ones smell like village and countryside...







I’ve never seen anything like Wat Ket Karam, so extravagant...





And I end my day with two other lesser-known temples: Wat Noung Kham, simple and finally free of gold and glitter,



and Wat Dap Phai, where an intimate ceremony is taking place at the end of the day.

I really loved Thailand, but it was too touristy for my taste. So I'm hesitating about going back and wondering if Cambodia or Vietnam would be less crowded with tourists...

Hi everyone, is there anyone sure about this topic? I’ve heard two different things. I’m leaving for Thailand on March 2nd and returning to France on March 30th, and my passport expires on September 25th. When I look at the rule that says the passport must be valid for more than 6 months upon entry, I’m good until March 25th, but on the way out, I’ll be 2 days short of the full 6 months (5 days early, to be precise).

Most people tell me it’s okay because it’s the entry date that counts, and even ChatGPT confirmed that for me. But some say no, it’s the return date that matters. So I called Qatar Airways, and even there, I got two different answers—one person said no, it’s the return date, and another said it’s fine for them. I’m not sure they fully understood what I was asking, and since I’m not in Paris, I can’t go in person either...

Just to be safe, I applied for a passport renewal at the town hall. They told me it would take 4 to 6 weeks, and I applied on January 14th, leaving on March 2nd, which is 6 and a half weeks. On the ANTS tracking, it’s been marked as "in production" since January 17th...

So, are there any experts on this topic out there? Either about whether boarding is allowed with the old passport or about the usual timeline for receiving a new passport... Am I wrong to worry in either case?

I just wanted to warn you all after my disastrous trip back on February 28th because of Emirates airline. Please note that if you need to file a complaint with this airline, wait until you're back home in France or your country of origin. Here’s what happened to me. I had booked and paid for seats on the plane for my outbound flight on February 10th from Lyon to Dubai, then Dubai to Bangkok. Despite our reservation, these seats weren’t assigned to us. I spoke to a flight attendant who told me she’d inform Emirates management and advised me to file a complaint once I was at my hotel. So, I did that on the Emirates website to request a refund for the paid seats that weren’t assigned, totaling 34 €. On February 26th, I tried to check in online for the next day, which was supposed to be my return flight. To my surprise, my husband still had his return ticket, but mine was no longer scheduled. I contacted the airline via chat, and an advisor told me, "Ma’am, you canceled your return flight." I responded, of course, that I hadn’t, and as proof, my husband still had his return ticket. The advisor ended the conversation by insisting I had canceled my flight. I was devastated and in tears, and like most tourists, I only had data and no way to call except via WhatsApp and Messenger. I had to contact my daughters so they could call Emirates to understand and resolve the situation. But nothing worked—they insisted that when I filed my complaint, it was indicated that all my future tickets were canceled. The flight on February 27th was fully booked, so either my husband returns to France alone, or we return together on February 28th, but we’d have to pay 2300 € for both of us. Despite multiple explanations to Emirates—including that I’m disabled and can’t be alone—they refused to listen or understand. We had to pay 2300 € to get home on February 28th. We also had to extend our hotel stay in Bangkok by one night and change our train for the return on the 28th, totaling 2565 € to get back home. I’ve since filed requests with Emirates for a refund of the return flight tickets and with my Visa card, but I have little hope of recovering anything. If anyone here has experienced this situation or has any ideas for a solution, I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks so much for your valuable support. Most importantly, remember: DO NOT FILE A COMPLAINT WITH EMIRATES BEFORE RETURNING FROM YOUR TRIP.

Pour les nouveaux croisiéristes ils n''en sauront rien mais je déconseille maintenant d'aller chez COSTA pour une croisière Costa a été racheté par un groupe américain qui réduit tous les couts au dépens des passagers A bon entendeur salut !

Je voudrais être contactée par un citoyen belge récemment installé en Thailande avec visa OA retraite obtenu à l'ambassade thai de Bruxelles concernant les fonds requis pour obtenir ce visa. J'ai téléphoné à l'ambassade et on m'a dit que maintenant il faut ET la retraite de 65.000 baht/mois ET la somme de 20.000 Eur bloquée sur un compte depuis 3 mois... Quelqu'un pourrait-il m'éclairer sur ce changement car, précédemment, il fallait l'un ou l'autre et non la retraite ET la somme bloquée. Si l'un de vous a eu son visa OA retraite récemment à Bruxelles, peut-il me confirmer ou non ce que l'on m'a répondu à l'ambassade ? Merci d'avance.

Je pars pour la thailand ou je reste 5 jours ensuite je vais au laos 30 jours et je reviens en thailand 30 jours. la lufthansa refuse de m enregistrer sous prétexte que je n ai pas de visa, certes entre ma date aller et ma date retour ça fait 2 mois mais, au milieu , je séjourne 1 mois au Laos. Je n ai plus le temps de faire faire un visa. Est ce que vous pensez qu en leur faisant voir mon billet pour le Laos ils vont accepter que j embarque?

Bonjour, Je viens d'essayer d'acheter 2 billets Bangkok / Mandalay pour le 14 novembre 2017 avec Air Asia sur leur site ( j'ai un " abonnement " mais sans précision de mes coordonnées bancaires ). J'ai effectué mon achat comme d'habitude, reçu un SMS de ma banque avec le numéro prouvant que je suis bien ã l'origine de l'achat , et j'ai réglé . J'ai constaté rapidement ne pas avoir reçu de mail . Cependant, mon itinéraire de vol m'a été confirmé ainsi que le numéro de ce vol ... Mais précisé: "No paument "? ". J'ai attendu un peu, re essayé, idem ( SMS etc ...) . Mais cette fois ci , quand j'ai été vérifier " manage m'y booking " ( n'ayant eu aucun mail de confirmation ) tout avait disparu ... Plus de vol etc .... Est ce possible que ce soit un bug ? J'ai réservé sur Turkish airlines juste avant mon Marseille - Bangkok sans souci . Je crains juste être débitée quand même par Air Asia et hésite à rebooker tout de suite . Si celà vous est déjà arrivé , que me conseillez vous ? Ou meme ... Attendre un peu ? Attention avec ETIHAD AIRWAYS car s'il y a un problème, vous ne serez NI remboursés, NI indemnisés ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Mon mari et moi-même avons voyagé avec ETIHAD au mois d'août dernier (2016) de la Thaïlande vers la France (Biarritz). Notre vol ETIHAD au départ de Singapour a été annulé pour des raisons mécaniques. ETIHAD nous a logés dans un hôtel à Singapour pendant 2 nuits (51 heures). Nous avons forcément raté notre correspondance Paris-Biarritz et nous avons dû acheter, en urgence et au prix fort (747,50 euros) 2 nouveaux billets Paris-Biarritz. Malgré, nos 51 heures d'attente à Singapour, et la dépense imprévue et forcée des 747,50 euros pour les billets d'avion Paris-Biarritz, la compagnie ETIHAD n'a pas voulu nous dédommager ! 🙁 Ils nous ont royalement fait cadeau de «20 000 miles», de quoi à peine acheter une souris Bluetooth à 15 euros sur leur site, en compensation des 747,50 € dépensés pour les billets Paris-Biarritz ! ! ! 😠 ETIHAD AIRWAYS = compagnie à éviter ! ! !

J'ai effectué une réservation pour un voyage en Birmanie en janvier 2017. L'itinéraire de vol : - Vol aller retour via Air China de Francfort vers Bangkok avec escale à Pékin à chaque fois - vol Bangkok-Mandalay avec Air Asia à l'aller - vol Rangoon-Bangkok avec Air Asia au retour

Le problème est que j'ai inscrit pour tous ces vols le nom d'épouse de ma mère au lieu de son nom de jeune fille.. Me nom d'épouse est bien indiqué sur le passeport dans la section nom de famille de cette façon : ''nom de jeune fille'' ép. "Nom d'épouse Mais dans la section en bas de la page 2 du passeport il n'y a que son nom de jeune fille qui est indiqué..

J'ai lu depuis que certaine personne ont eues des problèmes à cause dune telle erreur.. Pouvez vous me confirmer ceci, et avez vous une idée de comment il faut procéder ?

Par ailleurs, est il nécessaire d'inscrire lors de la réservation le deuxième prénom si il est inscrit sur le passeport ?

Salut, je dois partir en Thailande pour faire une mission humanitaire mais j'ai eu plusieurs problèmes avec mon passeport et mon visa.

Une amie s'est occupée il y a quelques temps de faire mon visa sur mon passeport à l'Ambassade de Thailande à Paris. Elle devait me le donner en main propre mais finalement elle me l'a envoyé par la poste en lettre recommandée. Seulement la lettre tardait à arriver, et la poste me disait tous les jours qu'ils avaient aucune trace de la lettre depuis son envoi.

Du coup, j'ai finalement décidé de faire refaire mon passeport et d'annuler l'ancien. Mais le lendemain (13 jours après l'envoi de la lettre) la poste a finalement retrouvé ma lettre et me l'a expédiée. Je suis donc maintenant en possession d'un passeport non-valide avec un visa thailandais (non-immigrant de type O) et j'aurai sous peu un nouveau passeport.

Savez-vous si je partir en Thailande avec mon passeport valide et mon visa sur mon passeport non-valide et y rester deux mois, ou est-ce que je dois faire refaire mon visa ?

Bonsoir, Je viens de demander le renouvellement de mon passeport et impossible de prendre mes empreintes. Mon passeport biométrique en sera donc dépourvu. La secrétaire de mairie semble me dire que cela ne posera pas problème car tous les renseignements sont dans la puce mais je suis sceptique. Que se passera-t-il pour mon entrée en Thaïlande ou autre pays. Quels problèmes suis-je susceptibles de rencontrer ?

Un certificat médical sera-t-il suffisant ?

Bonjour à toutes et à tous, je suis nouveau sur le site et je viens demander conseil car je vais bientôt partir en voyage en Thaïlande par le biais d'une compagnie aérienne du nom de Turkish Airlines, j'ai un petit souci, c'est déja la deuxième fois que ma compagnie change mon billet d'avion, mais là ils ont changé la date, ils ont modifié la date du retour pour Bangkok-Istanbul, mais ça ne m'arrange pas car ma correspondance n'est pas assuré, je pars de Bangkok le 11 juin à 9:00 alors que j'ai un billet d'avion Istanbul-Bordeaux également le 11 juin à 9:25 sur Istanbul. Je pense que ça peut-être régler mais comme j'ai pris mes billets sur internet je ne sais pas trop comment procéder. Pouvez-vous m'aider svp? Je vous remercie d'avance de votre réponse.

Je vous écris aujourd'hui car je suis un peu stressé en vue d'un voyage vers Phuket le 12/04/2016. J'ai effectué ma réservation sur le site de Emirates hier tout s'est bien passé jusqu'au moment où je reçois la confirmation et la se pose un problème sur le nom d'un des passagers.

En fait, pour le nom de famille du 4e passager, c'est le prénom du premier qui a été pris, voir l'exemple ci-dessous

Nom des passagers : Jean Dupont Yvette Dupont Louis Dupont Marc Jean

Je ne sais pas comment ceci à pu se passer car je vérifie bien tout avant de confirmer la réservation.

Je me demande que faire, j'ai déjà envoyé un mail à la compagnie et je vais les appeler des que leur service sera ouvert mais je suis assez inquiet de devoir payer une nouvelle fois un billet sachant que ce voyage résulte déjà d'une annulation pour un voyage prévu en février 2016 mais annulé pour raison de santé.

J'ai réservé 4 nuits au Libong Realax beach hotel à Ko Libong. Le prix final sur la facture etait de 116,12€. Et quand j'ài reçu la confirmation par mail, elle àffichait ok, votre reévation est confirmée a 164,56€ ! Pour info, le prix sur Booking etait de 121€. J'ai essayé d appeler Agoda en Thailande :c est un repondeur anglais qu on entend tres mal, je n ai pas pu aller plus loin, ni l americain qui etait avec moi! J ai fait "repondre" au mail de confirmation pour rouspeter : pas de reponse. Je ne peux pas appeler Agoda en France d'ici. Pensez vous que cela puisse attendre que je rentre ? Dans plus de 2 mois... Je vais ressayer de faire appeler l'hotel en question, puisque j y suis depuis hier. Mais hier, la nana de la reception navait pas l air décidée a m aider... Mais, il y a plus grave encore ! Comme j avais trouvé moins cher (que leur 164€) chez Booking, (121€), j ai voulu faire jouer la garantie Agoda "garantie le moins cher si non remboursement....patati patata...." Et ben, je ne vous souhaite pas d avoir a utiliser leur formulaire ! Une fois que toutes les infos sont saisies, ils vous demandent soit une photo, soit une capture d ecran de la facture, pour prouver ce que vous dites . C'est de bonne guerre ! Sàuf que, comme pàr hasard, votre photo jpg est trop lourde ! Faut dire que leur limite est bien basse ! Je me documente donc pour apprendre a faire une capture d ecran sur tablette ( au passage, cela ne s invente pas ). J envoie le formulaire et ben Non : votre envoi n a pas fonctionné, désolé, contactez nos services... Ghreeeeuuuuu 2 plombes pour rien ! Merci Agoda !

Bonjour à tous, Voila ce qui m'est arrivé vendredi dernier... Je vais retirer de l'argent dans un distributeur assez grosse somme j'avais à payer mon hôtel plus mon retour à bangkok... Je tape mon code, la somme... La machine me dit d'attendre, petite musique et finit par me rendre ma carte ainsi qu'un ticket de débit.. Mais pas l'argent !! Je vais immédiatement dans le petit supermarché attenant... La jeune fille appelle le numéro affiché sur le DAB... Là on me dit et répète qu'il faut que j'appelle ma banque... J'explique que d'une part les jours sont fériés en France et que je vais devoir attendre au bas mot une demi-heure pour réussir à parler à quelqu'un (soit une cinquantaine d'euros de communication...). Je réplique plusieurs fois que le problème vient d'eux et pas de ma banque... Je décide d'aller dans une succursale de cette banque que l'on me ouverte... Bon elle est fermée, là bas une autre banque me dit d'aller au siège le lendemain que ce sera ouvert... En fait elle sera fermée aussi, j'attends le lundi, et là on me dit encore une fois de contacter ma banque... Ce que j'ai fait en attendant par mail en racontant toute l'histoire. Je suis aussi allée déposer plainte au commissariat... Mais bon plainte en thaï... donc bon...'ai Ce matin je vois que l'argent a bien été débité de mon compte....! Bref soit il n'y avait pas assez d'argent dans le distributeur... soit un bug de la machine... Je leur ai dit plusieurs fois mais il suffit de vérifier les chiffres de ce distributeur total moins retraits... Ou de regarder le film de la caméra... Ce qui m'inquiète c'est que finalement je n'ai pour l'instant comme preuve que ma bonne foi... et si derrière quelqu'un est malhonnête il se mettra la diffèrence dans sa poche... Qu'en pensez-vous ? Bonsoir, je doit réserver un vol bgk siem reap mais quant je ne trouve pas la bonne carte ils ont visa credit, debit , national etc mais pas visa, premier. Pouvez vous me renseigné sur comment faire merci.
