Feedback on West American Itinerary
by Coco3826 · 2025-12-21 · 14 replies
Hello,

After our first trip to the West, we’d love to go back to see other must-see spots!

The stay would be from May 11 to 20, 2026—it’s short, but hey...

M11: Lyon to Las Vegas (overnight in Vegas) T12: Route 66 – overnight in Grand Canyon (GC) W13: Visit GC – overnight in Page Th14: Visit Antelope Canyon / Horseshoe Bend – overnight in Monument Valley (MV) F15: Visit MV – overnight in Moab Sa16: Visit Arches / Dead Horse Point – overnight in Bryce Su17: Visit Bryce – overnight in Zion M18: Visit Zion / Valley of Fire – overnight in Vegas Tu19: Return flight

What do you think? Could we add one more night somewhere? We’re not big hikers, so we’ll mostly explore the parks using shuttles.

Also, we’re all set—passports are good. Do you think one classic Visa card and one premium Visa card will be enough for coverage?

Thanks so much for your feedback, and happy holidays!

What budget should I plan for 3 weeks on the US West Coast?
by Ptitebulle59 · 2025-05-24 · 48 replies
Hi everyone,

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast. I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October. My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.

Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips. I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Thanks to everyone for your advice and help.
Feedback on 14-day Florida itinerary with a child
by Valju08 · 2025-05-16 · 8 replies
Hi everyone, We’re planning a trip to Florida during Belgium’s Carnival break, from February 14 to March 1, 2025. I’d love your help putting together our itinerary and getting ideas for family-friendly places to stay 😊 We’ll likely book a multi-destination flight, arriving in Miami and departing from Orlando. Here’s what we’d really love to do: - Visit beaches like Sanibel Island—we’re huge shell collectors 🐚 - See alligators in the Everglades and take a tour there - Spend some downtime in the Keys to relax a bit - Head to the Kennedy Space Center since my son is obsessed with astronauts and rockets - Maybe hit one of Orlando’s theme parks (we were leaning toward Universal, but the prices are just outrageous 😬) - Explore some cool spots in Miami.

We’d also prefer not to switch hotels too often—maybe at least two nights in each place? And no more than a 3-hour drive between stops.

Here’s our rough plan so far: Day 1–3: Miami Day 3–5: Keys Day 5–7: Everglades, Naples, and Sanibel Island Day 7–11: ??? Day 11–14: Orlando and Kennedy Space Center

As you can see, I’m not sure whether to add more days to the places we’re already visiting or if we should swing by Clearwater or somewhere else? Thanks in advance for your tips and recommendations!
Family road trip in the American West: itinerary, feasibility, and tips
by Cup030680 · 2025-05-05 · 1 reply
Hi everyone,

My husband and I are planning a road trip with our 18- and 17-year-old kids in the western USA. We’d like to end with a few days of beach time. Below is our itinerary—could you let me know if it’s doable in the time we have and if the route makes sense?

Arrival in Las Vegas 07/29 Zion National Park 07/30 Bryce Canyon 07/31 Monument Valley 08/01 Lake Powell-Antelope Canyon 08/02 Grand Canyon 08/03 Phoenix or Scottsdale (I’m still unsure—any thoughts?) 08/04 Oatman 08/05 San Diego 08/06–08/08 Los Angeles 08/09–08/13 Las Vegas 08/14 (departure)

For Los Angeles and San Diego, do you have any nice hotels to recommend?

Thanks so much
The great American West in 23 days
by Serguini86 · 2025-05-02 · 25 replies
Hi there, I’m right in the middle of planning a trip to the American West—23 days from 07/30 to 08/23. Departure from Orly to Los Angeles with a layover in San Francisco, and return from Los Angeles to Orly. Day 1: Orly - San Francisco (1 night) Day 2 & 3: Los Angeles (2 nights) Day 4, 5 & 6: San Francisco (3 nights) Day 7: Lake Tahoe (1 night) Day 8 & 9: Portland (2 nights) Day 10, 11 & 12: Seattle (3 nights) Day 13 & 14: Yellowstone (2 nights) Day 15 & 16: Salt Lake City (2 nights) Day 17 & 18: Las Vegas (2 nights) Day 19 & 20: Grand Canyon (2 nights) Day 21 & 22: Los Angeles (2 nights) Day 23: Return flight (1 night in the air)

The flight’s already booked: 2250 € for 3 people. Car’s reserved—just finalized the last booking today: a Rav4 for 23 days from Sixt in Santa Monica, 715 € (all insurance included). Hotels are booked with free cancellation since I keep finding better options, and the itinerary isn’t 100% set yet.

Choosing a hotel in Las Vegas: need advice
by UsOfLulu · 2025-02-11 · 3 replies
Hi everyone,

I’ve been reading reviews of different hotels for 3 nights in Las Vegas, and now I’m totally lost ;) So far, within our budget, we’ve shortlisted: (in no particular order) - the New York New York - the Park MGM - the Planet Hollywood

We’ll be back for just one night in Las Vegas, and for that single night, we’re thinking of staying near the airport. The Luxor seems like a good option based on price—we want to splurge a bit more for the first 3 nights.

Our main priorities are cleanliness, and honestly, it feels like it’s hit-or-miss everywhere... Also, check-in seems to take forever at all these places, and since we land at 6 PM, by the time we get there... with the jet lag, the long check-in is really stressing me out... How’s the soundproofing at these hotels, by the way? We don’t need parking, and the pool isn’t a big deal for us :)

We’re open to other affordable suggestions!

Thanks in advance for all your tips, have a great week!
3-Week West USA Road Trip Itinerary
by Caussat · 2024-11-24 · 19 replies
Hi there,

Alright, here’s my own road book for 3 weeks (late June – mid-July 2025) — looking forward to your feedback!

We’re not hikers or hardcore adventurers, so I’ve focused the itinerary on what we consider the essentials. We’re flying into SF and out of Las Vegas (because of airfare prices!) and also because I’m skipping Yosemite (doesn’t really tempt us). I’m planning a day trip to Death Valley from LV (been there before — it lets you see the highlights, and that was enough for me at the time). We’re not going as far as Canyon de Chelly — already done, and it didn’t really wow me. Just to note, this is pretty similar to a trip I’ve done before that worked well for us, but I’m open to tweaking it based on your suggestions. The duration (23 days) isn’t flexible — even one extra day sends the ticket prices skyrocketing.

Here’s what it looks like: Day 1: Arrival in SF Day 2 – Day 4: SF Day 5: Monterey (the Aquarium and the bay) – Overnight in Monterey Day 6 – Day 7: Drive down Highway 1 to Los Angeles – Overnight Day 6, e.g., in St. Simeon or nearby, and Day 7 in LA Day 8 – Day 9: LA (possibly an extra day) – Overnights in LA Day 10: Drive to Kingman and sightseeing – Overnight in Kingman Day 11: Drive to Grand Canyon and start exploring GC – Overnight in Tusayan Day 12: Explore GC – Overnight in Tusayan Day 13: Drive to Monument Valley and visit – Overnight nearby (Mexican Hat, Kayenta, etc.) Day 14: More sightseeing in the area (Valley of the Gods, Gooseneck Park) and drive to Mesa Verde – Overnight in Cortez Day 15: Visit Mesa Verde – Overnight in Cortez Day 16: Drive to Page and sightseeing – Overnight in Page Day 17: Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend – Overnight in Page Day 18: Drive to Bryce Canyon NP and start exploring Bryce – Overnight in the area! Day 19: Explore Bryce => Question: It’s a 2.5-hour drive from Page to Bryce. If we leave early, can we see the highlights of Bryce on Day 18 and skip Day 19? I’ll admit, I don’t remember much (it was back in 2009!) Day 20: Drive to Las Vegas with stops along the way (a quick detour to Zion just to say we’ve been, Valley of Fire) – Overnight in LV Day 21: LV; Cirque du Soleil show in the evening – Overnight in LV Day 22: Day trip to Death Valley (or a lazy day and outlet shopping!) – Overnight in LV Day 23: Flight back at 4:10 PM, which still gives us time to enjoy the morning.

What do you think? Best regards,
3-week road trip in the American West
by Milenka67 · 2024-11-11 · 7 replies
Hey everyone!

So, I'm in the middle of planning a 3-week road trip, and of course, I have a ton of questions. But first, maybe I should start with the basics:

When: July 5–28, 2025. Who: 4 people (2 teens and 2 adults). How: Flight tickets already booked (LH and United).

Where (overnights): 07/05: Arrival in SF. Night in SF. 07/06: SF. 07/07: SF. 07/08: Early departure? for Yosemite (Mariposa) – question 1. 07/09: Yosemite. 07/10: Mammoth Lake? (Accommodation in the area? Or somewhere else like 2 nights in Death Valley?) – question 2. 07/11: Death Valley. 07/12: LV. 07/13: LV. 07/14: Zion. 07/15: Bryce Canyon. 07/16: Bryce Canyon. 07/17: Moab. 07/18: Moab. 07/19: Moab. 07/20: Monument Valley. 07/21: Page. 07/22: Grand Canyon (better to stay 2 nights in Page or Grand Canyon?) – question 3. 07/23: Grand Canyon. 07/24: Kingman. 07/25: LA. 07/26: LA. 07/27: LA. 07/28: Return to France.

And question 4: For the car rental, I think it’s better to pick it up right when we arrive (to save time). But once we get to LA, should we drop it off at the airport or earlier to avoid being stuck with it (and paying extra for parking)? (We’re staying near Venice Beach for now.)

Anyway, if you spot any other inconsistencies, let me know! But I think it should work—I’ve already read 5 or 6 travel journals, so I’m feeling pretty set. :)

Right now, I’m deep into researching the rental car. I’m tempted to go for the Tahoe, but I’m not sure which site to use... So far, it’s hovering around 2000 €—quite the budget!

matin (jusqu'à environ 14h) : rafting sur le colorado, puis pique-nique apm : Dead horse point + canyonlands (island in the sky ? mesa arch ? grand view point ? green river ?)

Collaborative travel journal for lovers of the American West!
by Fabhyène · 2019-03-04 · 812 replies
Hi everyone!

So, I’m putting into action an idea I had two years ago... I’m inviting anyone who’s interested to help build a beautiful collaborative project—a shared travel journal!!!

The concept: one post =

a photo you’ve taken in the American West that means something to you and your thoughts on that photo or about it: where and when it was taken, the story behind it, why it’s special to you...

Grab your pens!!!! (And I hope this doesn’t flop, but if it does, at least I’ll have tried!!!)

And I’ll kick things off in the next post!

6 Austin => Eureka, Great Basin NP. Nuit à Ely.

7 Ely => Shoshone Falls Park. Nuit à Twin Falls.

8 Twin Falls => Crater of the Moon NM. Nuit Colter Bay Village Grand Teton NP.

9 GT NP. Nuit colter Bay Village.

Nuit Gardiner.

12 Gardiner => visite nord-ouest du parc. Nuit à West Yellowstone.

13 WY => visite ouest du parc. Nuit à West Yellowstone.

14 WY => SLC (journée route) s'arrêter quelque part ?

15 SLC => Saint George. Visites à déterminer.

16 Saint George (visite à déterminer temple? + ....) Nuit à Overton (VOF)

17 VOF => LV

18 LV

19 LV => (Rhyolite, Beatty?)

21 Sequoia NP. Nuit à Three Rivers.

22 Three Rivers => SF

23 SF

24 SF

25 Vol retour.

"Skip the counter" Alamo LAX
by Key123 · 2019-01-03 · 26 replies
Bonjour,

Request method 'GET' not supported Cannot serve request to /content/data/apis/live/payment/panguiLight/success.sfx.j/channelName=alamo/ on this server
