How many days should we plan to visit La Belle Province?
Hello,
We’re a group of four active seniors (still in great shape!) and we’re planning to visit this part of Canada for the first time. We usually travel with a self-drive tour package that includes accommodations and site visits.
Our trip is scheduled for June 2027, and we’d love some advice from the community on how many days we’ll need for this first visit, given the distances involved. We’d also appreciate any tips on our route, as we want to see the main highlights: Niagara Falls, Quebec City, Montreal, Charlevoix, whale watching, and more...
We’ll be arriving either from Toronto and returning via Montreal, or the other way around—still deciding.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions—they’ll be much appreciated!
Hesitating between Crete or Menorca
Hi! We’d like to go away for 10 days around May 15th, either to Menorca or Crete—we don’t know either place. We love hiking, unspoiled nature, good food, swimming, and, if possible, avoiding crowds. We enjoy getting off the beaten track. Menorca seems ideal because it’s not far by plane from Lyon, but if Crete is really wilder and more beautiful in terms of landscapes, we can add an extra hour of flight time. Can you help us out? Thanks!
Where to stay for a week and explore Oman with a guide?
Hello, we’re two senior couples who often travel with a guide and driver. For this trip to Oman, though, we’d like (for various reasons) to have a fixed base and visit the must-sees with a local guide but on a hub-and-spoke basis. Do you think that’s possible, and what would be the best place to stay?
We’ll be in Oman for 7 days in March 2026.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
A Week in Malta in Spring 2025
Why not Malta? We thought it was an original, off-the-beaten-path destination...
The advantage is there’s a direct flight from Toulouse, our departure city. That’s what convinced us to take a week-long couple’s trip to Malta.
I had booked the accommodations (breakfast included) + an airport/hotel transfer on Booking.
First stop: VILLA DEL PORTO, a very pleasant guest house in a great location. We were welcomed by the owner, who gave us all the info we needed to get around. How to get to Valletta? By ferry shuttle. Valletta Ferry Service - Cospicua.
And for everything else, a brilliant app for the buses that crisscross the island: TALLINJA. I highly recommend this app. We traveled by bus all week without any issues.
The next day, we spent the day in Valletta, the capital. That’s when we realized this destination is actually very popular—streets packed with thousands of tourists! Luckily, we managed to navigate through parallel alleys and find small hostels or bars to eat or grab a drink. The city is stunning and steeped in history.
On the third day, we took the bus to the south of the island: MARSAXLOKK. A charming, authentic fishing port with plenty of waterfront restaurants and souvenir shops. We ate at CAFÉ DE PARIS—a delicious fresh fish, perfectly prepared.
On the way back, we wandered through the beautiful town of Senglea. Then we ordered takeout from D VIRI'S TAKE AWAY near the guest house via email. It was delicious!
On the fourth day, we left Villa del Porto and headed to Valletta by ferry to catch the GOZO FAST FERRY—a 45-minute catamaran ride to the island of Gozo.
After a good lunch by the port, we took the bus to our destination: XLENDI.
A village at the end of a gorgeous bay. We stayed at the San Andrea Hotel—a small room with a balcony and sea view.
Fifth day: Bus to Victoria. A magnificent citadel, a meal at a small bar in Piazza San Frangisk, then we continued by bus to the north, stopping in Marsalforn for coffee by the sea and a short walk to the natural salt pans carved into the rock. Back to the hotel by bus.
Sixth day: A short walk to Xlendi Tower, a watchtower at the entrance of the bay, beautifully restored. Then we set off on a sea excursion in a small boat for six passengers. Honestly, I recommend it! Two hours cruising along the breathtaking coastline and turquoise sea—20 € per person. www.gozoboathire.com
Delicious lunch on the terrace at "The Boathouse Restaurant."
Seventh day: We packed our bags again and returned to Malta by ferry to Cirkewwa. The terminal isn’t very welcoming—you have to take a bus to find a town.
We had lunch in Mellieha, then continued our journey, still using local buses, to RABAT, next to the ancient fortified city of MDINA. Another stunning city we explored at our own pace once the tourists had left.
Eighth day: Bus to the airport.
In conclusion, we’re thrilled with our trip. Of course, we didn’t see all the sites recommended by guidebooks, but we wandered at our own rhythm and came back with a head full of memories, images, and great moments spent in Malta and Gozo.

Is it still possible to travel in Ecuador?
Hi everyone, is it still possible to travel in Ecuador outside the Amazon region? If so, do you have a reliable agency to recommend? All your recent experiences from the past few months would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much
Tenerife or Rhodes in mid-April
Hi everyone. I’m really torn between Tenerife and Rhodes for the week of April 12–19. I’m worried Rhodes might still be a bit chilly in mid-April, and I’m afraid there won’t be much to do in Tenerife?
I’d love to see beautiful sights—whether it’s towns or landscapes—but also lounge by the pool in shorts (or even a swimsuit if possible??). What do you recommend?
Will it be possible to swim in the pool at either (or both) of these destinations?
Thanks for your help!

Sunny spots recommendations for this winter
Hi there! We’d love to spend a few weeks in the sun this winter, but not too far away—southern Spain or Portugal sound perfect! Any regions or spots you’d recommend for an active retired couple who also love golfing? Best regards,3 days in Milan: sights, hotels, restaurants, etc.
Hello, VoyageForum friends, and happy holidays!
I’m planning a trip with my 19-year-old grandson to Milan for Easter Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in 2025.
I’d love your insights on what we can visit in Milan that would interest both my grandson and me (I’m 75). Of course, I’m thinking of the must-sees, but not just those—cozy little restaurants, trendy neighborhoods, and anything else you’d recommend. I’m also looking for a comfortable hotel in the city center that isn’t too expensive!
I’m sure the VoyageForum community will help me uncover some hidden gems! Looking forward to your replies.

West American Itinerary
Hello Everyone!!
Is this American West dream finally going to come true? Illness and the loss of loved ones have forced us to cancel this trip several times over the past few years...
Here’s the rough outline I’m sharing with you—feel free to give constructive feedback!!
From April 20, 2025, to May 5, 2025, that’s 14 days on-site excluding flights.
D20: Flight from Lyon to Phoenix, night in Phoenix L21: Phoenix (visit the zoo, city, Apache Trail? The road is apparently closed??) night in Sedona M22: Sedona, night in Sedona M23: Depart for GC, visit GC, night in GC (no accommodation booked yet, same goes for the following visits) J24: Drive to MV, visit MV, night in Mexican Hat or? V25: End of MV, drive to Page, night in Page S26: Page—Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, night in Page D27: Drive to Bryce, visit Bryce, night? L28: End of Bryce, depart for Zion (I’m wondering if it’s worth visiting Zion at the end of April—since the park is at high altitude, is there a risk of snow? Temperatures?) If we skip Zion, could we plan 2 days for Arches before heading to Bryce? Night in Springdale if Zion, otherwise drive to Valley of Fire, night? M29: Valley of Fire, then drive to LV, night in LV M30: Morning in LV, then drive to Death Valley, night in Furnace Creek? J1: Visit Death Valley, return to LV, night in LV And then we have 3 days left... where should we add them? More time in Arches and Zion? An extra day in Sedona? In Page? We’re not big hikers, so we won’t spend more than a day in each park.
Just to clarify: passports and ESTA are all set!!
Thanks for your advice! Best regards, Christophe

Romantic trip: Valencia, Athens, or Lisbon?
Hi everyone, I’m really torn.
I’m planning a trip for my girlfriend and I can’t decide between these three European cities: Athens, Lisbon, and Valencia.
I’m eagerly waiting for your replies—help me out!!😅😅
Authentic places in Sardinia
I'm planning a trip to Sardinia in May 2025, visiting historical sites and the deep countryside: what are the most authentic places?
What to see in Montenegro?
Hi everyone on Voyage Forum! In mid-September 2025, a group of friends and I are heading to Montenegro for a week. On my must-see list, I’ve obviously got the Bay of Kotor and Lake Skadar. Besides those two excursions, what else would you recommend seeing or visiting? Just to note, we’ll be staying in the Bijela area.
Another question: Is Tivat Airport operating during that period? I think Transavia flies there. Otherwise, we’d have to go through Dubrovnik, which I’d prefer to avoid—partly because I’ve been there before and partly to skip the border wait.
Looking forward to your replies or suggestions!

Must-see spots in Sardinia
Hi everyone, so happy VoyageForum is back up and running! I’m planning to explore Sardinia at the end of April and in May 2025. Could anyone tell me what the must-see spots are for this destination? I know there are tons of stunning beaches and, like everyone, I’m drawn to them. But I’m actually more interested in visits (towns, remarkable sites, curiosities) than the usual touristy spots. Looking forward to your enlightened tips!
Where to go in Spain based on our criteria?
Hello fellow travelers!
My husband and I would like to spend a few weeks in Jan-Feb-Mar 2025 in Spain.☺️
Our main criteria: shopping, hiking, long walks along the sea, climate 15-24°C, easy transport, languages (French, English, or Spanish), 🥂🏌️♀️🚴🎾☀️🎼🏝️
We’ve already been to Marbella and Alicante.
However, we don’t know these places apart from suggestions from friends who’ve visited them. 🤔
We’re thinking of renting an apartment or condo near the sea and maybe a car from time to time!
We’ve visited Spain a lot and really enjoy it given the distance and climate for these months away from the cold! 😊
Looking forward to your suggestions and tips! Thanks so much! 🤗
Oh, and we’re seniors but in great shape! 💃🕺😉
Our 22-day Ecuador road trip itinerary with a rental car
Hi everyone,
My husband and I are planning to explore Ecuador in the coming year, and to make the most of the trip, we’d like to do it with a rental car. We already have a rough idea of the route we’d take, and I’m reaching out to the community to help us refine this journey. Here’s the plan:
Day 1: Flight to Quito
Days 2 and 3: Exploring Quito
Days 4 and 5: Picking up the rental car and driving to Otavalo and Laguna Cuicocha
Day 6: Drive to Papallacta via Cayambe to enjoy the hot springs in the evening
Days 7 and 8: Drive to Lasso via Malachi – Excursions in Cotopaxi National Park. Laguna Limpiopungo
Days 9 and 10: Laguna Quilotoa
Day 11: Drive to Baños via Latacunga/Ambato to enjoy the hot springs in Baños
Days 12 and 13: Hiking in the Chimborazo Reserve
Day 14: Hiking in Sangay National Park
Day 15: Drive to Guamote to arrive by late afternoon
Day 16: Guamote market in the morning. Drive to Cañar in the afternoon
Day 17: Guided tour of Ingapirca, then drive to Cuenca
Day 18: Visit Cajas National Park early in the morning
Day 19: Exploring Cuenca
Day 20: Returning the rental car and flight to Quito or driving back to Quito (depending on cost)
Day 21: Relaxing in Quito
Day 22: Flight back to France
We won’t be doing any ascents—just hikes in the parks (we’re walkers, but we’re feeling our age and prefer to take it easy now!).
We’d love to hear your thoughts, critiques, or advice... Thanks in advance. Looking forward to reading your replies! martine

The Balearic Islands in a camper van
Hi,
We're planning to go to the Balearic Islands in a camper van in January. We're looking for great tips for the ferry crossing: Sète or Barcelona? Is the weather nice in January? Are 20 days enough? Is wild camping allowed? Are there service areas?
Thanks for your info.
Have a nice day,
Michel
Euros or dollars in Guatemala?
Hi everyone,
We’re heading to Guatemala in a few days, and the most recent posts are starting to get a bit old...
Would anyone have more up-to-date info on whether it’s better to exchange euros rather than dollars? Do we still need crisp bills no matter the currency?
Thanks, and great to be back on VF! !
