Hi, From what I’ve seen, flights from Bangkok to Cambodia operated by Thai Airways haven’t been canceled. So I think they’ve just stopped selling tickets for these routes due to lower demand. Keep us posted on how it goes!

This was a Bangkok–Paris flight with a layover in Kuwait City, operated by Kuwait Airlines.

Hi there, They were notified a few months in advance, so more than 14 days before the departure date. As a result, they’re not entitled to compensation. Plus, even if it had been last-minute, since it’s a return flight from a non-EU country with a non-European airline, they wouldn’t qualify. The airline must provide necessary assistance while you wait for your departure: refreshments, meals, two communications, a hotel night, and transport from the airport if the departure is the next day—which they did.

My son had the same nasty surprise with his flights this summer, Paris to Bangkok with Kuwait Airlines. The airline canceled a lot of flights, and he ended up with a 1-hour layover on the way out and 26 hours on the way back. They were taken care of during the layover—bus then a hotel where they could have their meals. The hotel wasn’t amazing, but it was clearly better than the airport terminal. I don’t think consumer protection laws apply to flight ticket purchases—for example, the 14-day cooling-off period for online purchases doesn’t cover flights. What’s more, it states in Article L221-15: "However, the seller may be exempted from all or part of its liability by proving that the non-performance or poor performance of the contract is attributable either to the consumer, to the unforeseeable and unavoidable act of a third party to the contract, or to force majeure."

If an airline cancels a flight ticket more than 14 days before departure, it doesn’t owe passengers compensation—just a refund for the flight.

I hope this works for you, but flight tickets that have been issued and paid for can still be canceled by the airline. The airline's obligation is to refund the tickets. I just had a cancellation for tickets that were issued and paid for—they were refunded within 7 days.

If the airline can cancel them if they aren’t paid for, I’ve already had tickets canceled that I got due to a pricing error—a huge discount. I still had valid tickets, though. And Saudia can still demand payment even if it was canceled because you can’t get a service you haven’t paid for.

I’ve always traveled using only my married name on my flight tickets, even though both names are on my passport. For over 15 years, with several trips a year and many different airlines, I’ve never had a single comment or name change on my tickets. Worst case: once, all our first and last names were swapped and booked through an online agency. How did you go about filing this complaint? Because personally, when I log into my Emirates, KLM, Air France, etc. account, if I have a booking, the only refund request I can make is for tickets—not for seat options. We flew with AF last winter to Abu Dhabi in their new cabin—really nice in a 1-2-1 layout with privacy doors. We booked AF Business flights from Lyon for this summer, paying less than 2000 € in October. Now, those same tickets are at 4500 €. Sometimes, it’s worth departing from another European city—we found tickets for under 1800 € from Rome, Copenhagen, Dublin, or Stockholm. Just make sure to allow plenty of time or even take the opportunity to visit one of these cities.

I think it was a B777, but no, they couldn’t switch seats—the flight was full. They were really disappointed to have paid for seats that were worse than the standard ones.

SeatGuru hasn’t been updated for quite a few years, since before 2019. My son booked and paid for these same seats on a KLM flight from Seoul to Amsterdam in November and was really disappointed because there’s no recline due to the bulkhead. It looks like the same setup on AF.
