Après bien des heures de réflexion, nous laissons tomber Cuba (hélas trop cher pour nous qui souhaitons être accompagnés en individuel) et nous tournons donc vers l'Asie.

Auriez-vous un bon TO local à nous conseiller pour la Thaïlande ? Nous voyageons avec deux enfants et aimons vraiment la formule chauffeur / guide qui nous sécurise. Nous sommes partis avec Shanti Travel au Sri Lanka l'an dernier et c'était top.

J'ai plus ou moins une ebauche d'itineraire :

France, Inde (mais un peu peur du depaisement trop soudain), Sri Lanka, Thailande (par la mer), Laos, Viet-nam, Mongolie, Chine (Nord), Japon, Indonesie, Papouasie-Nouvelle Guinee, Australie, Iles du pacifique (pas encore fixee), Canada, Usa, mexique, Cuba, jamaique, Guadeloupe et martinique peut etre, Venezuela, Colombie, Bresil, Bolivie, Argentine et France... Envie de glisser l'Egypte quelquepart, mais je ne sais pas ou...

L'ordre est il logique, et comment faire concorder ca avec les saisons et climats ideaux? Est-ce possible de faire tout cela en environ un an ? Est-il preferable de prendre un billet tdm ou pas ?

Avez vous une idee du budget necessaire ? Pas trop exigeante, je veux juste un minimum pour le logement(eau, lit de temps en temps, et pas trop crade) et avoir de quoi manger, peu importe quoi. Avez vous eu l'occasion de travailler dans certains de ces pays, est-ce difficile ? J'ai actuellement malheureusement une barriere linguistique, je prends des cours mtnt ou je me laisse apprendre sur le tas ?

Derniere question, la plus idiote de toutes peut etre, j'aimerais savoir si certains d'entre vous ont voyage avec des lentilles de contacts ? Est-ce gerable ?

J'apprecierais egalement des temoignages de nanas a avoir fait leur tdm seules...

Hi there, I think you're on the right track—you plan the itinerary and book the rooms in advance, and that’s it. Not only do you save time, but you also know where you’ll be staying each night. Choosing well on Booking (or elsewhere) is actually a pleasure! For safaris, given the number of jeeps with drivers available, it’s unlikely you’ll be turned away... the real issue is more about the concentration of jeeps around the animals. I travel like you do—train, bus, tuk-tuk, and sometimes taxi. Ride-hailing apps like PickMe and other VTCs are mostly in big cities. For the mountain train, due to severe flooding, service was interrupted on the line between Kandy and Ella. Check ahead, because reservations for this train are very complicated, if not impossible. For the Colombo/Kandy train, you reserve your seats by buying the ticket before boarding. In the south, no need to book in advance for trains. In Sri Lanka, there’s always a solution for getting around—just ask your hosts. They have trusted contacts at their fingertips. But still, compare prices—😏 smart move! I stick to booking my nights and keep pre-planned activities to a minimum. For reservations you can’t skip, it’s the beach stays you’ll want to secure.

Hello everyone, A message to warn potential customers of "Go Voyages" about my recent experience. I left from Geneva for Colombo on December 18, 2025, with a round-trip business-class ticket purchased on Go Voyages, with Etihad Airways, and a layover in Abu Dhabi. Access to the business lounge was denied (I have a 7-hour layover both ways), and I had to pay $160 to get in, despite having a business-class boarding pass. I’m currently in Sri Lanka, and for a month now, I’ve been trying to get an explanation for this refusal and to find out if I’ll be denied access again on my return on March 12, 2026. After two calls to the priority line of the "Prime" service I subscribed to (a paid subscription, of course), which is supposed to assist me 24/7 during my trip, after about ten emails that only led to being redirected to links like Opodo, then eDreams (an inaccessible site), and then other links that just sent me in circles... it’s absolutely insane, all this just to answer a fairly simple question: why wasn’t I informed about this potential refusal by Etihad when I made my purchase? All Go Voyages would need to do is contact the airline to resolve this quickly... but no!!! After a month, ten emails, the last response was: contact the airline directly!!! Which, of course, redirected me back to Go Voyages!! Completely unacceptable! The "Prime" service from Go Voyages is a total scam—completely ineffective, with customer service nowhere to be found. My issue isn’t life-or-death, but imagine a more serious situation where you’d need quick assistance... don’t count on "Go Voyages" to help you at all!! You’d likely be pretty disappointed!! My advice: RUN from this agency, which is headquartered in Spain and owns Opodo, eDreams, and Go Voyages.

I’m planning a trip at the end of October/beginning of November to meet up with friends in Penang. My itinerary includes 2 days in Singapore, 2 days in Kuala Lumpur, 2 nights in Malacca, 2 days in Penang, and 4 days in Bali. Originally, I had planned a side trip from Ipoh (1 night) to pass through Cameron Highlands and especially to see Mossy Forest. But I just realized it’s not Taman Negara. So now I’m not sure if I should just cancel this excursion or still go to Mossy Forest. Is Ipoh worth it, Cameron Highlands (knowing I’ve already visited tea plantations in Sri Lanka), and the primary forest? Thanks for your help

I’m heading to Kerala in December. I’ve been searching without luck for air-conditioned buses, minivans—basically anything that’s not a bus without AC or windows, since my route from Cochin to Munnar is gonna be a long one and I don’t wanna struggle.

I checked around, and it’s crazy—you can’t find the name of a single private company, just overpriced transfers!

From what I can tell, it seems like there’s nothing but local buses… yet I went to Sri Lanka two years ago and there were plenty of options.

We’re a family with two kids who’ll be 3½ and 6½ years old at the time of the trip. We live in the city, and the little ones aren’t big hikers in nature, but they’re pretty cool with transportation. Travel month: May 2026 for 3 weeks (round trip) What we’re looking for: a relaxed trip combining nature, culture, beautiful beaches with snorkeling, and sunshine! We want to take our time with the kids and avoid driving 6 hours every couple of days. We’ve traveled as a couple before but not much with the kids (in Europe, by car).

Choices: I ruled out Mexico for various reasons. I’d also dismissed Indonesia because it seemed more tiring with kids in terms of transportation, but it’s back in my top 2 now! 😊 I also crossed off Sri Lanka because of the monsoon on the west coast in May. So, I’m left with Malaysia (KL-Malacca-Selangor-Borneo Sabah-Perhentian Islands area) or Java (Yogyakarta-Bromo-Karimunjawa Islands)... This list isn’t exhaustive—just some rough ideas.

Budget-wise, we’d like to stay in small hotels with pools for under 100 € in cities, but no need for a pool at the beach. Thanks in advance for your tips! Hélène

Due to a change in plans, I’ve got 3 weeks off starting at the end of May and another 3 weeks in early September.

I’d like to go back to Scotland either at the end of May or in September, but I’ve noticed that flight tickets are cheaper in September for Scotland since the long weekends in May will probably be pretty booked up, I think.

So I’m leaning more toward Scotland in September and keeping May-June open: Georgia, the Baltics, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Ireland, Scandinavia, or even farther afield (Sri Lanka, Canada, etc.). I’m open to suggestions!

I travel with a backpack, staying in youth hostels, small hotels, or bed and breakfasts.

I usually get around by train and bus, but for Scotland, Ireland, Scandinavia, and Iceland, I think renting a car would be more practical.

I love hiking, cultural visits, architecture, history, etc. I speak English fluently.

Hello, I spent a month cycling in Thailand earlier this year with a touring bike equipped with two rear panniers. I loved being able to ride and stop at a hotel every night, and eat just about anywhere. I tried India two months ago but gave up because of the road conditions and chaotic traffic.

I’m looking for countries where I can cycle "without autonomy"—so no tent, no stove, just the bare minimum. Ideally, I’d like to stop at hotels or similar accommodations regularly, without having to cover 200 km a day!

This would be our first big family trip, and we’re looking to mix discovery, a change of scenery, some relaxation, and cultural immersion. Over 20 years ago, Fanny and I used to travel as a couple with backpacks, especially in India and Mongolia, but things have surely changed a lot since then.
