Hi, We’re thinking of going to Albania at the end of May, early June 2025. We’re a bit hesitant because the timeline feels tight for planning this trip. We’re considering about ten days there. Does that seem like enough time for a first-time visit? Thanks.

A new work assignment means our vacation dates can't stay the same.

We had planned to go to the Canary Islands, but flight prices are skyrocketing with this new holiday schedule.

So, I’m looking for an alternative to Gran Canaria and El Hierro and found two round-trip flights with Wizz Air to Tirana.

398 €, including baggage and seats—perfect!

Plus, the departure and return times are great, which is pretty rare for a low-cost flight!

All that’s left is to rent a car, plan the route, and book accommodations.

With two weeks, we’ll have to make some choices!

Here’s the final itinerary: Shkodra (2 nights), Valbonë (3 nights), Tirana (1 night), Lake Ohrid (1 night), Korçë (1 night), Përmet (1 night), Gjirokastër (1 night), Himarë (2 nights), Berat (2 nights), and Krujë (1 night).

A mix of countryside and small towns, a bit of the Mediterranean, and some mountains!

Late October isn’t the best season, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for the rest...

What a terrible idea to turn a stunning natural wonder into a concrete cash machine!

Okay, so they built a parking lot and made it paid—that’s fine. And protecting the natural spring with a wooden barrier to keep it from turning into a public swimming pool makes sense.

But why dig a road all the way up to 10 meters from the site with an excavator?

Why allow a super polluting and stinky little train to run there?

Why let personal motorcycles use it?

Why rent electric scooters or mini motorbikes to cover the 1,500 meters on foot?

I have my answer: greed...

Thankfully, there’s still a trail on the other side that’s been spared from the money grab.

I’ve read that Albanian merchants (hotels, restaurants, gas stations, etc.) aren’t big fans of card payments and that the euro is widely accepted.

How is it these days? Should I plan to pay only in cash (which feels pretty unusual these days...)?

Also, all ATMs seem to charge a minimum withdrawal fee of 5 €. Which networks are the least expensive? And what’s the maximum amount you can withdraw?

Jour 1 Location d'une petite voiture (pas un 4 x 4) aéroport de Tirana . Route vers Elbasan. et Elbasan Berat. question sur l'état de la route est ce ok entre Elbasane Cerrik Lushnjë Kuçova ou faut il privilégier un autre chemin ?. visite Berat. Route Berat Gjiroaster par Roskovec Ballsh Tepelene même question sur l'état de la route.

Jour 2 Gjirokaster Butrint Sarande Jours 3 et 4 Sarande par riviera jusqu'à Tirana J'ai lu beaucoup de posts regardé des vidéos, regardé google maps mais plusieurs propositions qui ne précisent pas l'état des routes ... Je vous remercie par avance pour vos réponses

Je souhaite si savoir si il existe des randonnées balisées sur ces trois destinations faisable à la journée (hormis le classic valbona - theth) ? J aimerais également savoir si ces lieux encore demeurent peu fréquentés à la fin mai. J'habite proches des alpes, je souhaite simplement éviter d'avoir l'impression d'être sur une haute route, gr, etc...
