En décembre prochain, je partirai d'Alger, pour me rendre à Bamako, via Tamanrasset et Gao, peut etre Agadez ??? (en taxi, bus et camion...etc) (certains commencent à être au courrant ...!) Et c'est sur des points administratifs et bassement matériels que j'ouvre cette discussion ; faut-il des "invitations" d'algériens pour avoir un visa ? est ce qu'il faut tenir les autorités au courant des dans les différents lieux ou je me rendrai ? faut il un billet de retour pour pouvoir entrer dans le pays ? (difficile, remarque, parce que je ressors par la route) est ce qu'il faut que je prenne mes visas Nigeriens et Maliens en france ou à la frontière ? est ce qu'on a le droit d'avoir des devises sur soi ?, est ce qu'on doit les déclarer ? est ce que les travellers chèques sont utilisables ? est ce que le change au noir est possible, intéressant ? est ce qu'il faut rincer les flics et les douaniers, a quelle hauteur ? quel est le cadeau à faire à un nomade du sud renconté sur la route qui m'invitera à partager un moment : thé, sel, sucre ??? autre chose ???

Je voudrais connaitre l'avis d'un specialiste quand retour de Dakar à la France par les moyens locaux (taxi brousse, ...), combien de temps me faudrait-il?, y aurait-il un problème pour les visas et enfin quel serait le meilleur trajet?

Le prix des bus est assez attrayant mais le reseau a l'air d'etre compliqué a cerner. cela dit si on m'explique comment cela fonctionne. cela me donnerai un autre appercu de la ville ...😄

A peine le temps de sortir de l’aérogare. Une nuée de taxis et de rickshaw nous assaille. Notre taxi « officiel » a du mal à se frayer un chemin entre tous ces rabatteurs. Il est presque minuit. Le chauffeur m’explique quelque chose en Anglais. Je lui demande de répéter maintes fois avant de renoncer. Je comprends que je vais rester deux semaines en vase clos à parler par mots clés. L’anglais indien, c’est quelque chose !

Il est minuit donc, et la route qui relie l’aéroport à la ville est encombrée de camions. Les rickshaws se fraient des passages au milieu de ces colosses qui crachent des tonnes de fumée noire. Mes poumons donneraient plusieurs litres d’air pour respirer l’oxygène « propre » de la place de l’étoile un jour de semaine à 18h ! Je me prends à vouloir tout de suite partir vers l’Himalaya. Quelques vaches impassibles au milieu de ce chaos broutent les brins d’herbes séchés sur les bas cotés de la route, les klaxons s’en donnent à cœur joie. Quelques lépreux dorment ( ?) sur les trottoirs. Il est une heure maintenant. C’est le bordel intégral, la comédie humaine, la comédie indienne, des scènes dantesques. Mais finalement, chaque chose est à sa place : des mendiants aux rickshaws en passant par les ambassadors, chacun joue sur cette scène de théâtre grandeur nature.

L’Inde est là dès le débarquement de l’avion. Pas le temps d’analyser, de prendre ses marques. Incompréhensible. Dingue. Folle. Horriblement séduisante et magnifiquement sordide. L’Inde ne s’explique pas, elle se vit. Arrivée à l’hôtel. Impossible de trouver le sommeil dans une chambre surchauffée. L’excitation se frotte à l’angoisse existentielle. Des formes inquiétantes errent en bas de l’hôtel. Vivement que le soleil se lève !

6h30. Après une heure de sommeil, le soleil matinal vient gentiment lécher mon visage. Rasséréné par l’astre salvateur, à peine le temps de prendre une douche et on est dans la voiture. Direction Agra. Après la visite d’un palais que l’on jugera à posteriori comme banal, on Le voit. On Le devine. Il est là. Brillant sous le soleil implacable de l’après-midi. Blanc comme la neige, imposant, surréaliste. On arrive sur le parking et hop, rickshaw électrique pour ne pas abîmer le Taj. Un petit creux avant d’affronter la queue ? « Pas ici », insiste notre guide, « des touristes ont été empoisonnés ». Bon, on s’en passera alors…Au guichet : 500 rupees. OK. « here you are ». « 10 more dollars ». OK, you don’t want everything in dollars ? “ No. Dollars and rupees”. Heureusement, j’ai les deux monnaies. Au total, 20 dollars pour voir le cadeau d’un amoureux à sa dulcinée. Et alors ? Je l’aime ce Taj. Est-ce que je l’aime pour le mythe ou pour ce qu’il est ? Probablement un peu des deux… Ce qui est sur, c’est que le coucher du soleil, la Yamuna qui le baigne, les perruches, le marbre blanc, les pierres précieuses, les jardins, les monuments qui le jouxtent… Tout cela procure un sentiment véritable de calme et de plénitude. Je me sens bien ici. Sur ces terres à 7000 kms de chez nous. L’Inde pénètre mes pores. Je me laisse faire. Surtout pas de résistance. Se laisser envoûter par l’instant et tout oublier. Les pêcheurs sortent des filets de la Yamuna bien loin des groupes de touristes venus des 4 coins de la planète. Je me rends soudainement compte que j’y suis. Dans les Indes mythiques. Lieux de toutes les convoitises pour nos ancêtres. Les Indes, les odeurs, les couleurs, les formes sensuelles et subtiles des monuments… Il m’a fallu le Taj pour percuter mais aussi pour accepter.

Se perdre dans les bazars nonchalamment en slalomant entre les vélorickshaw, les charrettes, les vaches, les porcs, les voitures, les mendiants, les étals, les rabatteurs, les sâdhus, les lépreux, les chiens, les flaques d’eau croupie, les déjections animales, les déchets, les odeurs d’épices, les sons orientaux, les vélos, les scooters, les mateurs, les singes… Tout cela paraît plus simple si on laisse l’Inde rentrer. Si on ne lui bloque pas le passage. A la fois sensuelle et virile, l’Inde n’est pas de ces pays qui aiment la timidité, la réserve. Il faut s’ouvrir à l’Inde pour la mériter et ne surtout pas attendre qu’elle s’ouvre à vous sous peine de grosses désillusions.

Sentiment perfide s’il en est, il faut laisser de coté nos visions occidentales sur la pauvreté et les inégalités. De notre point de vue, une grande partie d’Indiens a perdu toute sa dignité d’être-humain. Cela ne semble gêner personne. Aimer sans juger et sans tomber dans l’angélisme ni dans le pessimisme. L’Inde est magnifique. L’Inde est horrible. Ni l’un ni l’autre en fait. L’Inde est juste… l’Inde. Ici plus qu’ailleurs, tout est différent, hétérogène, sans unité. Ici tout est hyperbole. Tout est plus. Les monuments y sont plus beaux, les couleurs plus vives, les paysages plus majestueux, les montagnes plus hautes, la religion plus… plus. Les pauvres plus pauvres… Telle est l’Inde. Un pays-monde. Mais assurément riche de sa diversité. Si des extraterrestres devaient un jour débarquer sur notre planète, l’Inde serait probablement un bon condensé de la complexité de l’être-humain. De notre complexité et de notre beauté à tous...

je cheche des infos sur le transport en malaisie, le train, le bus, le taxi enfin tout ce qui roule, je prepare un voyage dans ce pays pour 2006 au depart de singapoure je suis preneur de toutes infos, interet du transport, prix etc, etc, je voudrais faire le tour du pays en trois ou quatre semaines je suis aller faire un tour a l'office du tourisme a paris ou jai recuperer de la documentation mais je pense que l'experience du terrain doit etre un plus pour preparer le voyage d'avance merci pour les infos

Nous partons le 28 mars en RD. On atterrit à Punta Cana et on voudrait éviter le taxi qui coûte cher comparé aux bus. Le problème est que nous ne trouvons aucune info sur les trajets et horaires des bus.

We’ll be in Dahab again this October—we’ve been going since 1979—to freedive. In 2025, to our surprise, access to the Blue Hole is now paid: on top of the 10 € taxi fare, you have to pay $10 per person to enter the park. So we’re heading outside Dahab to the Three Pools site by bike, rented locally. Is there a bus that goes there, or shared taxis, instead of the tourist taxis? And where can we catch them? We’ve seen big buses full of local families on the site, but we don’t know where to find them. Thanks in advance!

Hi! We spent 10 wonderful days in Guadeloupe’s gorgeous climate. Our arrival got off to a shaky start, though—our suitcase was left behind at the airport, which caused quite a stir. A police officer was shouting at us to get out and cross the street. Then, a taxi driver refused to take us after we showed him where we were staying, right by the port in Pointe-à-Pitre. "No one goes there," he told us! Good thing we arrived during Carnival! A second driver finally agreed to take us, and I can say he knew every nook and cranny of his city.

The rest of the trip was amazing. The locals were smiling and welcoming. We didn’t rent a car, so we didn’t get around much and stayed in the Deshaies area—a real favorite. Plage de la Perle (Pearl Beach) truly lives up to its name! We liked Grande Anse Beach less because of the steep slope, which made walking tricky, and the waves were pretty intense. The landscapes in this part of the island are idyllic. We visited the botanical garden—it’s worth it—and went to the port in Deshaies. If we ever go back, we’ll rent a vehicle so we can explore more, because taxis aren’t cheap!

Hi everyone, here’s a little trip report from San José del Guaviare, in the Guaviare department of Colombia.

First, the journey: an overnight bus from Bogotá. The bus terminal is a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport (30,000 COP). The bus company that goes down to San José is Flota Macarena, located in sector 2 of the terminal. The bus terminal is big, with plenty of places to eat and lots of little shops. The bus seats are pretty small but manageable—comfortable enough. We left at 10:30 PM and arrived around 7:00 AM the next morning.

First thing to note: the center of San José, right by the river, is really dirty, noisy, and not very pleasant. We stayed at Hotel Malecon, by the river, where the Malecon promenade is supposed to be the nice spot to walk along the river. Well, no—it’s completely abandoned, with trash everywhere. The hotel itself is in what we nicknamed the "scrap metal district," since that’s pretty much all you see—scrap yards and garages. Not exactly pleasant and kind of sketchy at first glance. A room with AC and a balcony at Hotel Malecon costs 120,000 COP per night. For one night, it was fine since we hadn’t booked anything in advance. After that, we moved to an Airbnb in the neighborhood with the soccer stadium—a really nice and quiet area. The little tip here is that there’s a pool behind the stadium—8,000 COP to swim, and there’s a bar right across the street. Honestly, it’s great to have a place to cool off because it was *really* hot in San José.

Now, let’s talk about the main attraction here: the natural sites. We visited Puerta de Orión (free entry, but the guide—mandatory—costs 10,000 COP per person), the natural pools (15,000 COP entry), Balneario La Lindosa (5,000 COP to swim), and Las Delicias waterfall (10,000 COP)—that last one was our favorite. The sites are really cool, and I’d definitely recommend visiting them. It’s pure nature out there.

For accommodations, a lot of places are located outside San José, near the tourist sites. At first, we wanted to stay out there, but without a car, it’s a real hassle. So if you’re not driving, stick to San José.

Getting to all these sites by taxi costs around 30,000 COP one way, except for Las Delicias waterfall, which is farther away—70,000 COP one way. Taxis within the urban area of San José cost 6,000 COP. The bus from San José to Villavicencio with Flota Macarena costs 78,000 COP and takes between 5 and 6 hours.

To wrap up, our 5 days in San José were really great. We were pleasantly surprised by how friendly the people there are—it really stands out.

So if you’re looking for a spot that’s still off the mass-tourism radar, come here! It’s nice, and there are plenty of other sites we didn’t get to see.

We’re spending two days in Venice beforehand. How do we get to the ship? Is it easier to take the train back to Mestre and then a taxi? Are there taxis at Mestre station? Do we need to book in advance? Do you know of a reliable company?

Explora doesn’t offer a bus transfer and mentions a water taxi for 360 €!!!!

Hello, After over 40 years of traveling, I’ve never used a driver-guide before. Given my age, this time I’d like to avoid being squeezed into a bush taxi. I’ve never rented a 4x4 but usually go for sedans. So, for my upcoming trip to Madagascar, I decided to hire a 4x4 with a driver. I contacted about ten agencies and guides listed in the GR, LP, and travel forums. The quotes I got for 20 days range from 6000 € to 1300 €, with or without fuel included. Most ask for either a full bank transfer upfront or a mobile wallet payment (30%, etc.) from France. Personally, I’d prefer to see the vehicle and the driver before making any payment. Also, I’d rather pay at the end of my trip. Is it possible to find a provider in Tana upon arrival for around 50 or 60 € per day, including fuel, with short notice, some flexibility in my itinerary, and without being forced to accept the dictates of agencies or drivers recommended on certain forums?
