coucou, voila je suis a bangkok et je pars demain pour chiang maien train, pour quelques jours ensuite je pars en birmanie quelques semaibnes..mais cette nuit jaurai voulu sortir ds un endroit sympa, baret musique, et jaimerai trouver une guest house pas loin pour mne pas avoir a prendre le taxi le soir.

Jai pense a sukhumvit mais apparemment cest assez cher ds le coin alors auriez vous qqs idees??? je me suis pas mal balade a bangkok mais pas trop le soir et kao san road et compagnie... non...

je pense prendre un train de nuit pour chiang mai je prendrai mon billet demain matin, jespere quil ne faut pas reservertrop a lavance...

Je compte aller en Thailande pour 3 semaines au mois de mai 2006 (avis aux intéressées) Je sais que la Thailande est sécuritaire pour une fille seule mais bon, comme tout le monde j'ai des craintes... Et puis sincèrement, je ne comprends pas comment il peut être si facile de se retrouver et d'aller ou on veut en Thailande... Quand je regarde les plans et les cartes, je suis déjà perdue! Donc me retrouver perdue au milieu de nul part m'inquiète un peu!

Aussi, j'aimerais savoir comment c'est faire un trek dans le nord au départ de Chiang Mais, disons juste d'un ou deux jours...est-ce qu'on se retrouve juste avec des hommes ne parlant pas un mot anglais ou français, ou c'est quand même assez touristique?

Sinon, en général pour se loger est-ce qu, on retrouve pas mal de commodités (douche, etc) disons que je ne compte me loger à petit budget mais je recherche quand même un confort de base!

Nous allons faire un circuit en groupe en Thailande j'hésite entre Paris Chaing Mai + bus (tout en visitant) direction Bangkok+séjour balnéaire.Ou alors Paris Bangkok bus+visites direction Chaing Mai et le train de nuit pour le retour à Bangkok+balnéaire.

- Faut il faire obligaroirement une escale à Bangkok? - Comment ce passe le voyage en train de nuit?

Bonjour, voila je pars la semaine prochaine c'est a dire dimanche 22 mai jusqu'au 17 juin en Thailande.

Il s'agit de mon 1er voyage sans vraiment passer par un tour operator. Nous sommes "un couple" et nous avons 20 ans tous les 2. Voila pour nos presentations.

Nous avons eu la chance d'avoir un billet pour 450 euros seulement avec Gulf air.

premiere question : comment est -cette compagnie ? y at-il des ecrans individuelles proposant des films....?car mon amie ne tient pas en place ;).

Nous avons fait un programme pour nous rassurer un peu pour notre premier voyage. (bien entendu, ce programme sera ammené à changer en sur place)

Doc le voici :

Lundi 23 mai : Arrivée à Bangkok transfert à l'hotel D&D . Nous avons choisis kao san raod car apprament, 'est pratique pour tout organiser donc parfait pour nous.

Mardi 24 mai : Visite des principraux temps (grand palais, wat po, wat arun, et promenade en klong)

Mercredi 25 mai : Journée a muang boran

Jeudi 26 mai : Matinée au zoo de dusit puis transfert à kanchanabury

vendredi 27 mai : Journée au temple au tigre car je suis fan de ses grosses bebetes.

Samedi 28 mai : Excursions chutes d'erawan

dimanche 29 mai : Excursion Sangkhiaburi avec cols des 3 pagodes, cutes d'eaux...

lundi 30 mai : Journée avec les elephants de fc ki habite kanchanabury puis depart poar le train de nuit pou chiang mai.

Mardi 31 mai : Arrivée a chiang mai, installation au bungalows guest house de manu et laprés midi visite des fabriques artisanales.

Mercredi 01, 02 et 03 mai trekking dans le nord

Samedi 4 juin : tribu des femmes au long coups

dimanche 5 juin : decouverte de chiang mai ....

Ensuite nous avions prevu de rester donc une 10aine de jour à Samui et ko tao.

Puis retour un ou 2 jours avant à bangkok pour les derniers achats...

Voila donc j'aimerais avoir votre point de vue sur ce programme avec ce qu'on pourrait enlever, ce qu'on pourrait rajouter...Sachant que je vais sans doute rajouter une journée à ayutaya lorsque je serais à bangkok.

Si j'arrivais pas à prendre un train de NUit dès mon arrivée, je compte alors monter sur Chiang Maï "à la découpe", bref en faisait escale à Ayuthaya, Sukhotaï et alors Chiang Maï. y aurait-il une station de BUs près de l'aéroport pour Ayiuthaya ?!!! j'ai pas envie de rentrer dans BKK avant de remonter dans le Nord. Je pense au BUS car il semble que le 1er train pour Ayuthaya après mon arrivée (15h30)soit à 19h !!!

moi et une amie partons 2 mois en thailande, en mai. Nous prevoyons faire Bangkok, ensuite visiter le nord, et puis descendre sur la cote est, pour remonter vers les plages qui sont pres de Pattaya.

Est-ce que ce sera un beau voyage quand meme, ...est-il realiste de faire cet itinéraire bangkok-nord-cote est(dans le sud).

Je veux voir des temple, des treks, mais surtout des plages.... donc le coin de Kho samui, ko tao et une belle place?! jai peur que ca soit envahie de touristes qui échange phuket pour les environs de kho samui a la place. il est vrai que dans 4 mois, soit en mai, la situation a le temps davoir changé un peu. Y'a til des belles plages près de pattaya, rayong, ko samet? ou sa ne vaut pas la peine daller la ?!

J, aimerais savoir quel itinéraire serait le plus profitable pour ce voyage. ....Bangkok-chiang mai et nord- et ensuite descendre dans les iles, phuket, ko samui, ko tao, etc, et remonter vers bangkok (pour le visiter a la fin du voyage) ... est-ce une bonne idée d'itinéraire ?!

Does anyone know of a private transfer or taxi company that organizes transfers from the Sukhothai area to Chiang Mai? Our routes are Sukhothai-Lampang, Lampang-Chom Thong, and Chom Thong-Chiang Mai. My searches on Google Maps, 12Go, and others haven’t turned up much...

For our Bangkok-Sukhothai trips, I use a company I’ve already tried, but they don’t have a fleet available from Sukhothai and have to go through third-party companies—which, understandably, take their commission. This nearly doubles the prices...

There are four of us, and we’re not traveling light, so a minibus isn’t an option. ;-)

Hi there, So many things to see that I’m not sure what route to take for my two-week trip at the end of February. I initially thought about spending a few days in Chiang Mai and then heading down to Koh Samui and Koh Tao, but the travel time is long, and the flight from Chiang Mai to Koh Samui is really expensive. So, I’m looking for an alternative after Bangkok while keeping Koh Samui and Koh Tao. Maybe this itinerary, but I’d love your thoughts: Day 1-3: Bangkok (3 days) Day 4-5: Kanchanaburi (2 days) Day 6: Transit Bangkok → Koh Samui Day 7-9: Koh Samui (3 days) Day 10-12: Koh Tao (3 days) Day 13: Return to Bangkok

We’re planning a trip to Thailand with my husband and our two 7-year-old kids. Three weeks in February/March. Our rough itinerary is: arriving in Bangkok for 3-4 days, then Chiang Mai and the surrounding area, and finally an island in the south.

-We land in Bangkok around 7 AM. Any hotel recommendations? We’d love to rest right after we arrive. Budget is around 40 € per night.

For the rest, I’m open to any tips or suggestions:

-Accommodation in Chiang Mai, and maybe a night in an elephant sanctuary park...

-Should we take the overnight train to Chiang Mai on the way there or on the way back?

-Which island should we choose?

We love authentic experiences and connecting with locals...

Starting November 15th, I’ll be arriving in Thailand, and during my stay, I plan to visit the north, around the Chiang Mai area, then head south to the Krabi region. After Krabi, I’m planning to take an overnight train to Bangkok. I was wondering if there’s a train that leaves from Krabi or Trang, or if I absolutely have to go to Surat Thani? Also, which official website can I use to book my ticket?

Next, since I’ll be arriving at dawn in Bangkok, I’ve planned to spend 2 days in Kanchanaburi. What’s the most convenient way to get there—bus or train? And if you know any companies or websites, that’d be great.

Our flights are booked, and we’ll arrive in Thailand at the beginning of January.

Originally, we were supposed to spend 14 days there. But after booking the flights and seeing the prices, we’ll now be there for 20 days instead.

Our initial plan was: 2 days in Bangkok 1 day in Ayutthaya 4 days in Chiang Mai 6 days around Krabi

So we have 7 more days to fill. What do you recommend?

An extra day in Bangkok? Adding more days in the north? If so, where? Exploring another region, like Kanchanaburi or Cheow Lan Lake? Traveling north in stages instead of taking the overnight train?

A few extra details about us: For us, vacation isn’t about relaxation—we love walking, exploring, and packed days don’t bother us. Hiking for hours and doing active things is what makes us happy. That said, we also enjoy visiting villages and towns if they’re worth the detour. In Thailand, we’d like to visit temples too. We’re early risers, so our days tend to be long. 🙂 In short, we like to keep things moving during our trips. 😉

Unfortunately, seeing terraced rice fields isn’t possible in January. I read there are rice fields around Sukhothai. Are they green in January?

In the north, do you recommend Doi Inthanon, Huai Nam Dang, or Doi Chiang Dao National Parks? Which one is the most beautiful and best for January?

My husband and I are heading to Thailand with our two boys on July 8th. We’ll be moving around: Bangkok (3 nights), Ayutthaya (1 night), Chiang Mai (4 nights), Koh Samui (4 nights), and Koh Phangan (3 nights). We have a flight from Koh Samui to Bangkok in the afternoon the day before our return to France, arriving around 5 PM in Bangkok (it’ll be a Friday). I’m still wondering where to stay in Bangkok for this last night in Thailand. Initially, I thought about booking a hotel near the international airport, but I figured there might not be much to do there... maybe we’ll want one last crowd-filled night at a food market? So, I considered booking a hotel near the metro instead, for easy access to the airport the next morning, while still being central enough to go out for our last evening before heading back to France.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this :-) And if you lean toward the second option, which neighborhood/hotel would you recommend?

Here’s my plan: - 2 nights in Bangkok - 1 night in Ayutthaya (then an overnight train) - 3 nights in Chiang Mai (flight to Krabi) - 4 nights on Koh Lanta - 2 nights in Railay (flight back to Bangkok) - 1 night in Bangkok I have a few questions: 1) For Bangkok: how do you organize a visit to the klongs? Can I easily find an agency on the spot? 2) Do I need to book the bus or train to Ayutthaya in advance? 3) Chiang Mai. I’m planning one day for temple sightseeing + Doi Suthep, and I’m debating between two options for the other two days: - Option 1: Day 1: Doi Inthanon day trip + Day 2: elephant experience for the kids. - Option 2: 2 days/1 night for a trek, staying in a village, and seeing elephants. We’re planning a 3-week trip to Laos, focusing solely on the north. Our main goal is to do two 4-day treks in two different areas of Northern Laos.

We land in Bangkok on December 12th and will head straight to Chiang Mai before crossing into northern Laos at Huay Xai. Our journey will start there, ending in Vientiane, with a stop in Luang Prabang and the surrounding area. We’ll then take a night train from Udon Thani on December 30th to catch our flight back in Bangkok.

Right now, we’re mainly looking for reliable contacts to organize our two treks. From what we’ve read so far, trekking options exist around Luang Namtha, Phongsali (if it’s not too cold during that period, since we’ll have our 3-year-old daughter with us), or near Muang Ngoi and Nong Khiaw, as we’ve seen there are possibilities in that area too.

If we can organize both treks with the same contact, that would be perfect.

We’d prefer to avoid big agencies with a high-street presence and instead work directly with a local who knows their stuff and can give us good advice. We want to combine stunning landscapes (we love hiking) with cultural encounters in local villages.

We’d love to hear your tips and experiences—maybe some areas are better than others, less crowded, or more challenging (though we’re keeping in mind our 3-year-old, who’s used to hiking but we don’t want to put her in any danger).

Hi everyone, we’ll be in Thailand from August 2nd to 21st, arriving in Bangkok on the 2nd for a visit. From the 5th to the 8th: Angkor temples. Then, starting on the 9th, we’re planning to head to Chiang Mai, and by the 14th or 15th, we’d like to be on an island until the 19th, when we return to Bangkok. Five days in Chiang Mai seems a bit long to us. What do you recommend between the 9th and 15th, and which island? We’re not big fans of sunbathing—we’d love to snorkel and explore the island. Ideally, I’d have liked to find a house to rent, but every time, I end up with places far from the beach, whereas we’d really like to be able to walk to the beach for strolls. By the way, are there a lot of shells? Can we collect them? It seems that in August, swimming can sometimes be tricky due to tides—is that true? Thanks to all the contributors! 😊

Hi everyone. I’m planning a trip to Thailand for November. We loved the treks we did in Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar so much that we’d like to repeat the experience in Northern Thailand. Most travelers who go trekking do it around Chiang Mai. But wouldn’t it be better to do it somewhere else (Chiang Rai?) to get a bit more authenticity? Obviously, we’re looking for an ethical center (if such a thing exists in Thailand) where the elephants enjoy a peaceful retirement, near Chiang Mai or in Samui if possible. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I’m really interested in the "SUPREME bus" and especially the "Wiang Ping Super VIP Class Bus" with Sombat Tour for traveling from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. But you can only book through their website, and it’s entirely in Thai. No agency allows booking for these buses from this company either. I haven’t found any way to make a reservation for either of these two buses... Has anyone traveled from Bangkok to Chiang Mai on one of these buses? Thanks so much

Je pars en famille (deux enfants 1,5 et 3,5 ans) et recherche un camp de base en pleine nature dans le nord de la Thaïlande pour y passer 4 jours environ.

Je pensais aux environs de Chiang mai ou Chiang rai histoire de limiter les temps de trajet et de pouvoir aller éventuellement y passer une journée. L’idée est de trouver un endroit agréable en soi (temps sur place a la sieste et en soirée) donc un cadre un peu joli et une belle vue si possible. Et évidemment qui puisse servir de camp de base pour des excursions genre balade a pied ou bateau (rizières/foret/cascades/sources chaudes etc...), visites de villages et éventuellement un coucou a des elephants (pas trop mal traités dans la mesure du possible).

Dernier élément le budget : on pourra aller jusqu’à 1200-1300 bahts mais si c’est moins c’est bien aussi. On n’est pas du tout a la recherche de luxe mais plutôt d’une bonne ambiance et un peu de charme quand même.

Voilà, je suis persuadée que ce genre d’endroit existe mais j’ai beaucoup de mal à trouver ! Alors merci d’avance pour votre retour d’expérience !

J'ai déjà fais Bangkok, koh phangan, koh samui, Chiang Mai, parc national d'Ang thong et koh Lanta (que je n'ai pas aimé) J'aimerais ne pas retourner là où je suis déjà allée mais là je bloque un peu, car phuket ne m'attire pas, et koh Lipe que j'aurai aimé faire me paraît compliqué pour y'aller en sachant que nous avont à peine 10 jours... Je pensais koh Tao mais l'île me paraît trop petite et peur de m'ennuyer du coup... Je recherche un endroit plutôt tranquille mais un minimum animé...en bord de mer Pour cette année nous voudrions se la jouer décontracté sans courir partout pour les visites... Quelqu'un a t'il un endroit à me conseiller

Bonjour, je pense que mon message sera peut être identique à d'autres mais je n'arrive pas à trouver toutes mes réponses alors voilà.... Voici ce que nous aimerions faire de nos deux semaines à 2 en Thaïlande: Arrivée le 17/04 directement sur Chiang Mai, 3 nuits sur place Départ le 20/04 de Chiang Mai pour Krabi, 4 nuits sur place 24/04: je me posais la question de partir sur Koh Lanta qui n'est pas loin et facile d’accès depuis Krabi mais on me dit aussi que Koh Tao vaut le détour (nous cherchons une destination plongée). L'idée serait de perdre le moins de temps possible dans les transports mais je me dis que Krabi = Koh Lanta et que Koh tao aurait peut être un paysage/atmosphère différents...ce serait pour 4-5 nuits et 2 jours de plongée. Nous aimerions ensuite être sur Bangkok à partir du 29/04 pour 2 nuits, notre vol retour étant programmé pour le 01/05. Pourriez vous me donner vos avis tant sur le planning que sur la destination plongée? Merci merci merci!

Bonjour je m'interroge sur les étapes le long de la boucke de Mae Hong Son (à 2 roues motorisé). Je ne vais pas partir très tôt le 1er jour (arrivant juste la veille à Chiang Maï), aussi je me demande s'il y a des haltes sympa avant Mae Sariang (je ne compte pas rouler de nuit et je table sur une vitesse moyenne basse). Devrais-je prévoir plus de temps sur le tronçon CM - Mae Sariang ? Ma 2ème étape pourrait être Mae Hong Son (à moins qu'il soit particulièrement recommandé de s'arrêter à Khun Yuam ?) Je pense rester une journée pour MHS et ses environs. Puis le 4ème jour aller vers Soppong : peu de km mais trajet très tourmenté semble t il ? Est ce que je devrais prévoir de visiter Tam Lod ce jour-là ou bien le 5ème ? 5ème jour : ballades autour de Soppong (comment trouver un itinéraire court et sympa pour marcher ?) 6ème jour : il me faut impérativement arriver à CM ce jour-là, le trajet est il réalisable depuis Soppong ou faut-il que je me rapproche de CM le jour 5 ? J'ai déjà eu l'occasion d'aller à Paï, et pas envie d'y revenir - sauf à y faire étape si nécessaire, bien entendu.

C'est pour le mois de janvier : est il facile de trouver des hébergements sur place ou bien faudrait il réserver ? Merci d'avance de vos infos pertinentes !
