Est-ce que vous connaissez cette compagnie (encore mieux si vous avez fait affaire avec eux) est-ce SAFE et il y a-t-il un bon service ?

A lot of people find it important to stick to their budget when traveling—not to skimp, but to visit as many places as possible since traveling is their hobby.

In this post, I want to share some tips for those coming to Morocco who want their trip to be budget-friendly.

1. Prebook everything: hotels or riads, car rentals, or tours. If you book these in advance, it’ll make your life easier. You won’t have to deal with hagglers or people trying to overcharge you for services that are available online for free. Use platforms like Booking, Expedia, carsrental.ma, Airbnb, and other booking services to get this done properly.

2. Exchange your money to Moroccan dirhams as soon as you land. 1 € is always a little over 10 dirhams, but many people get charged as if it were exactly 10 dirhams per euro.

3. When visiting an old site or the old medina, avoid talking to vendors and shop owners—they’re really good at getting your attention and making you overpay for things.

4. Ask your tour guide to buy things for you. Yes, they do get a commission, but you’ll probably pay way more if you buy something yourself that they can get cheaply.

5. Walk everywhere. You don’t need a taxi for every little trip. Pick a good location and walk—most Moroccan cities are safe during normal hours.

6. Buy your food, drinks, etc., from supermarkets at normal prices. They can’t overcharge you since they scan every product.

My questions revolve around beaches (a spot with interesting snorkeling and safe swimming for the kids), accommodation (kid-friendly, parks nearby, pool, beach, or nature—more like guesthouses or family-run pensions), hikes (accessible for kids), and whether renting a car makes sense depending on the island, even though local buses are an adventure in themselves.

Dates: June 23 → July 8 (possibly until July 12) Duration: 2 to 3 weeks Budget: Not really an issue for this trip

Our plan: - A seaside destination first and foremost, with beautiful beaches - We’d like to do some hiking or at least go on walks with scenic viewpoints - A relaxing trip with sunshine, lush greenery, and stunning landscapes - A safe destination

Our thoughts so far: - New Zealand: our dream, but it seems like the wrong time of year weather-wise ++ - Azores: ruled out due to unpredictable weather—what do you think? - Mauritius/Reunion combo: vetoed by my future wife ^^ - Seychelles: seems like it could work, but I’ve read about a few downsides (no shops to buy food, snorkeling not always amazing, occasional weather/tide issues making swimming tricky)

Other options: - French Polynesia: we’re really dreaming of it, but is 2 weeks too short for such a long trip? - Hawaii: same question—too far? - Sardinia?

I’m reaching out for your advice since we’re planning a trip to Tanzania for our 10th wedding anniversary, with a continental part (4 nights) followed by Zanzibar for some relaxation (7 nights). A childhood dream.

My first question is: have families with kids this age already done this trip? Is it relatively safe, because I know that if there’s even the slightest health issue, the infrastructure can be tricky, especially on the mainland in Tanzania. We’ll of course take our precautions (vaccines and Malarone), but I want to make sure we’re not being reckless, as my in-laws seem to suggest (they’ve never traveled).

Also, for the safari, I need your opinions. I’m in advanced talks with the agency *Tanzania Wise Safari*. Has anyone heard of them?

Day 1 - night in Arusha to rest Day 2 - departure for Tarangire and safari (likely in the early afternoon), night in a lodge near the northern part of the lake at the crater entrance Day 3 - crater - night in the same lodge (I want to limit changes for my kids, but I’m not sure if that’s smart) Day 4 - I’m hesitating - what to do in the morning? Lake Manyara? Or return to Arusha at a relaxed pace and spend the night there? The guide suggested Arusha National Park, but I think it’s too much driving for the kids, since there’s already the trip from the crater to Arusha to get to the park. Day 5 - departure for Zanzibar. Do you have a recommended airline?

For flights, I tried a multi-destination option, but it seems complicated.

Hi there, We’re planning a solid six-week trip (July/August) to Sulawesi with our two kids, aged 5 and 7. I’ve been browsing various forums and have a lot of questions:

Can we "improvise"? We love traveling without planning every step, going with the flow based on fatigue, encounters, and discoveries. So, can we book NO accommodations in advance (except maybe our arrival in Makassar)? On the Togian Islands—is that possible? Same question—can we "improvise" local transport like buses, taxis, or scooter rentals, and book flight tickets (e.g., Makassar-Luwuk) or ferry tickets just a few days ahead? Is it safe enough to travel by scooter for day trips with the kids? Do they generally have child-sized helmets available? We’re struggling to map out an itinerary. Our priorities are hiking (trekking) in the Mamasa Valley and Toraja region, and seeing at least one volcano. Then, of course, we’d love to enjoy the water—easy snorkeling. The Togian Islands look dreamy, but are they the best for "easy" snorkeling (from the beach) with young kids? The journey there is long, too. The Banggai Islands look amazing—could they be a good alternative to the Togian Islands (where finding accommodation might be trickier)? Any feedback?

Other questions: My oldest is crazy about crystals and geology. Has anyone explored the karst region north of Makassar? I also just learned there’s a volcano in the Togian Islands—Una Una (Colo Volcano). Any feedback on that?

Hi everyone, we’ll be in Namibia in November and need to make the Opuwo to Divundu trip over 2 days. Is the best route the northern one via Oshakati, Eenhana, Rundu, and Divundu? If so, where’s a good halfway campsite (we’ve got a rooftop tent) or guesthouse?

Or should we go Opuwo, Oshakati, Tsumeb, then Rundu, staying somewhere like Zuri Camp in Tsumeb—or another spot? It’s a bit of a detour, but it gives us more options for safe overnight accommodation...

Hello everyone! I REALLY need some advice because I’m feeling lost with my choices for my next solo trip—I’d like to book within the month . Just so you know, my trip will be in September 2025 for about 17 days. My top pick is Vietnam; I’ve never been to Asia. I know the rainy season will be in full swing in September, but several reviews seemed to say it’s not necessarily a dealbreaker, even though it might affect a few hours each day. PS: I was considering Cambodia, but apparently, the situation isn’t safe for a woman or a tourist right now. I’ve also heard a lot about New Zealand, but I don’t know anyone who’s been there—especially solo. The nature looks amazing, but does 100% nature get boring quickly when you’re alone? Are there meet-up spots or restaurants/cafés in all the must-see places? To give you some background, I’ve traveled solo before: Seville, Sweden (Stockholm and Lapland), and I spent 6 months exploring Marseille on my own. I love discovering places and cultures by myself. Fun fact: my favorite trip was South Africa—for the change of scenery, the people I met, the landscapes, and the nature—but I wasn’t solo there. Do you have any firsthand experience with these two destinations for a solo trip as a woman? Or do you have other ideas that fit a similar budget and are interesting for 15–17 days, with a real sense of adventure? And, of course, safe and not too stressful for a woman! As part of a 10-month trip to explore and discover South America, we’d like to start our journey in northern Brazil since the timing is perfect for traveling up the Amazon. We’re traveling as a family of five with three kids aged 6, 9, and 18.

Our plan is to leave from Manaus and reach Yurimaguas in Peru via the Amazon, mostly by boat. Since we have plenty of time, we can take breaks to explore the different stops along the way that are worth it. The idea is to eventually head to Colombia via Ecuador later on.

So far, we’ve identified the following stops: - Manaus - Tabatinga - Iquitos - Sumiria Reserve (we’d like to stay there for a week) - Yurimaguas.

We’re thinking of traveling in a cabin/hammock for the longest leg (Manaus to Tabatinga) and just in hammocks for the shorter trips (max 3 days).

I have a few questions: 1. From a safety perspective, is the area we’re planning to cross safe, considering we’ll be with our three kids, the youngest being 6? 2. Isn’t this route a bit too ambitious for our kids? 3. We’re considering adding the Santarém/Manaus leg. Is Santarém a city worth adding to the itinerary? 4. Among the planned stops, which ones deserve a special visit? 5. Do the boat trips always include meals on board, or should we be careful when booking? 6. What would be a reasonable estimate for the duration of this trip to fully enjoy it?

I’ve read quite a bit—like trying to board early to get the best hammock spots, and that travel times can vary depending on currents, stops, and potential technical issues. But that’s not a problem since we have all the time in the world! :)

We’d love to hear from anyone who’s traveled in this area before!

hi, I have two kids aged 12 and 7, and we’d love to visit Costa Rica, especially to explore the national parks and see the wildlife. I was thinking of going during the spring break in 2025. All-inclusive trips are *super* expensive, so I was wondering if it’s doable to plan this independently, even though I don’t drive. Has anyone had experience with this kind of trip? Does it seem realistic to get around using local transport? And what about safety? I’ve traveled alone with my kids before, but only in European countries close to France. Après tant de voyages, voilà que je poste mon tout premier post sur ce forum, pour recevoir vos précieux conseils concernant cette ville qui m'attire depuis tant d'années.

J'aurais plusieurs questions concernant Prague (j'ai fais mes propres recherches en parallèle, mais il est toujours plus "rassurant" d'avoir de "vrais" avis).

Je pars donc, visiter la Capitale Tchèque, pour la première fois, début Novembre, avec une amie.

Ma première question sera donc la suivante : La ville est elle "safe" le soir ? Y'a t-il des coins, à éviter ? Nous n'avons pas prévu de sortir faire la fête, mais je ne compte pas partir de Prague sans avoir été boire une bonne bière (ou deux) :)

Nous partons pour 7 jours, mais je ne trouve que des itinéraires pour 3/4j sur Internet. J'ai essayé de faire un petit mix de tout ce que j'ai pu trouver. Il ne me restera plus qu'à mettre tout ça en ordre pour planifier nos journées au mieux.

Y'a t-il des choses touristiques ou non, à n'absolument pas rater ? Ou au contraire des choses un peu "surcotées" à laisser de côté ?

Bonjour, J'avais pris 2 billets pour Hawaii en février 2020 directement auprès de la compagnie American Airlines sur leur site français americanairlines.fr , pour un départ en octobre 2020.

Je reçois cette semaine un email m'indiquant un changement dans mon billet, alors qu'en fait ils ont annulé un des 3 vols, celui Londres - Los Angeles.

Je les contacte sur leur numéro surtaxé, et elle me dit qu'en effet c'est bien une annulation et non une modification. Elle annule donc la totalité et me dit très gentiment que je serai remboursé, qu'il me suffit d'en faire la demande sur prefunds.aa.com

Je viens de recevoir leur réponse, ils refusent et me proposent un avoir ce qui est totalement illégal : Your trip is non-refundable, but don’t worry. The unused value of your ticket is safe, and you’ll be able to use it toward future travel.

Il y en a quand même pour 2000 euros ! Et je ne veux pas de leur avoir, qu'ils me remboursent et je rachèterai si je le veux et si la situation le permet, là ils prennent en otage mes 2000 euros.

Est-ce que quelqu'un a le même problème que moi avec cette compagnie ? Pour ceux qui ont commencé des démarches de médiation ou de justice, où en êtes-vous ? Merci

Tout d’abord, j’ai bien conscience que la question a été posée plusieurs fois mais je veux vraiment faire les choses correctement et sans prendre de risque, c’est pour cette raison que j’aimerais des retours d’expériences:

J’aimerais acheter un billet d’avion du Venezuela vers l’Espagne pour quelqu’un vivant au Vénézuéla (de la nationalité de ce pays aussi). Visiblement, certaines compagnies réclament la carte bancaire ayant servi au paiement et autres formalités mais ce n’est pas toujours très clair car il y a des versions différentes.

Par exemple, j’ai appelé Turkish Airlines qui n’ont pas su me dire si le voyageur aurait besoin de la carte bancaire ou non... Ils m’ont dit « ça dépend de ce qui est inscrit sur le billet » (véridique).

J’ai lu que si l’on passait par une agence de voyage ou via un site de type GoVoyages (etc...), il n’y aurait pas de problème. Qu’en pensez-vous? Quel est le plus « safe » pour mon cas de figure? Dans l’idéal, j’aimerais éviter de passer par une agence de voyage. J’ai tenté d’appeler AirFrance aussi mais les événements récents liés au COVID font qu’il est difficile de les joindre (je n’ai donc eu personne).

Voyageant souvent, il est vrai qu’on ne m’a jamais demandé une seule fois la carte bancaire ayant servi au paiement (parfois c’est pourtant ma société qui payait les billets) donc je m’étonne un peu de cette formalité.

Je poste car depuis quelques temps j'ai un projet avec un ami. Nous sommes étudiants et nous prenons une année de césure. Notre objectif est de traverser l'Atlantique à la voile et de visiter les pays d'Amérique. Nous voulons donc acheter un bateau, le refaire et l'utiliser. On ferait ainsi pas mal d'économies. Je ne m'y connais pas trop en réparation de bateau mais à 2 nous sommes confiants sur notre capacité à réussir. Je demande sur ce forum car je ne m'y connais pas trop sur les types de navires. Je sais naviguer mais quel type de bateau chercher je ne sais pas trop. Nous ferions de la navigation équatoriale majoritairement et nous cherchons à réduire un max sur le budget (mais en restant safe quand même... On veut pas trop de problème au milieu de l'océan). J'ai entendu dire qu'il faudrait un monocoque qui fait 3 fois la taille de la houle, donc au moins du 9m pour l'Atlantique et que les anciens bateaux (fait par fibre et pas une coque en moule/contremoule) sont des bons partis. Voilà je peux apporter plus d'infos mais je suis un peu perdu sur les navires que je pourrais chercher (j'étais parti sur un FIRST mais je pense qu'on peut faire bien moins cher...) Je suis ouvert à toutes vos précisions/conseils/détails :)

Hello, je cherche à organiser pour l'année prochaine ou la suivante un tour centré essentiellement sur l'Utah. Nous avons déjà parcouru les classiques de cet état et nous voudrions approfondir la partie Capitol Reef et Grand Staircase sur quelques jours, en faisant quelques pistes pas difficiles (SUV 4X4 et par temps sec je sais) J'avoue être complètement perdue sur l'organisation de planning. Aller de Boulder à Page par la Burr Trail, puis reprendre la Nothom Bullfrog jusqu'à Capitol Reef ? Ou faire Torrey, scenic road, Nothom B. road ? Et qu'en est-il de la Cottonwood Canyon Road et de la partie Escalante. Comment combiner le tout, sur combien de jours; quelles distances ? J'ai beaucoup de mal organiser des journées qui tiennent la route c'est le cas de la dire ! Je m'adresse aux spécialistes et je précise que nous ne randonnons pas mais évidemment ne sommes pas contre quelques balades tranquilles. Merci de votre éventuelle attention.
