Je part faire un TDM d'un an avec un numérique. Je pense emporter environs 500MO de cartes mémoires (4 smart media de 128mo) et les graver sur CD vierges dans des cyber-café.

Cette idée vous parrait elle réalisable?

Les cyber-café d'inde ou du panama sont-ils équipés en port USB et graveur?

Les coutumes et cultures ne sont pas les memes entre pays ou continents, et je pense que le fait de découvrir de nouveaux horizons et de nouvelles cultures soient le motif de la plupart des personnes sur ce forum. Quand on voyage on est pres a s'attendre a tout le meilleur comme le pire, des joies et des peines, des coups de blues au sourire d'un inconnu dans la rue, au touriste qui se fait une joie de négocier comme un dur en imposant un moins 70% à un commerçant qui vous offre un thé, des plages bondés au campagne decimé, bref on peut s'attendre a tout.

Mais il y a des choses auxquelles on ne peut pas "pardonner", quand une colere monte en nous en voyant des images horribles et qu'on ne peut que contenir sans rien faire..., ou qu'on vous fait faire des choses sans que vous ayait l'envie (containte ou pression), ces choses qui vous dégoutent lors d'un voyage...😕

Je me souviens d'une fois au liban, je sortais du bus et la devant nous il y avait un syrien qui se fesait tabasser par des libannais (a coup de piquets à parasol et de barres de fer), les filcs arrivent et se mettent à le taper aussi, j'ai voulu m'interposer et la un libannais m'a dit: "tu ne vas pas aider un arabe, c'est tous des cons!", j'etais stupefié d'avoir entendu ça!! En plus les libannais sont des arabes mais comme ils le disent si bien: "de classes superieurs"😕.

Cela me restera toujours gravé dans ma tete!!

Je pars ce samedi 27 mars pour le Népal et je pense me diriger sur l'Annapurna (j'ai déjà fait la route Langtang/Gosaikung). J'aurais voulu faire le tour, mais je n'ai que 16 jours en tout (c'est à dire 14 jrs de KTM à KTM)... c'est quand même un peu juste - et c'est parce que je n'aurai pas beaucoup de temps que j'ai en fait besoin de conseil. Jomson / Sanctuaire /ou les deux? J'ai lu des revues diverses sur la partie le tronçon Jomson-Tatopani, ainsi d'ailleurs que sur Jomson-Muktinat. Les vues du Sanctuaire semblent valoir le coup, et de monter un peu ne me dérange pas, au contraire...

- Neige en avril sur MBC/ABC?

- Thorung-la passable en cette période? Est-ce que ça vaudrait plus le coup de faire l'autre partie du circuit: Manang/Thorung La/Jomson ?

je rebondis sur toutes ces question concernant le palu : la plupart d'entre vous pense qu'il vaut mieux privilégier une bonne protection (moustiquaire, anti-moustique) à un traitement médicamenteux.

Pour ce qui est de l'anti-moustique, je me pose encore quelques questions : d'abord parce que le premier anti-moustique que j'ai utilisé m'a généré une giga allergie 🤪🤪. Le toubib m'a alors conseillé de changer de produit insecticide et je me suis tournée vers le 5 sur 5. Produit qui a super bien marché en Equateur (moi qui suis la victime favorite de ces bestioles, pas une ne s'est aventurée à venir me piquer!!). Par contre, effet ZERO en Thailande pour mon homme et moi!! Je lui avais clamé les vertus de ce produit miracle en long, large et travers et on a passé 8 jours à concourir pour le prix du nombre de piqûres.....

Alors, si on reste dans l'idée qu'on ne fait pas de prévention et donc pas de médoc de type lariam, malarone.... qu'en est-il si, sur place, le produit qui doit éviter que les mosquitos te transmettent la maladie se révèle innefficace?

en fait je pense qu'on va aller a l'iberostar barlovento a cuba pour des questions de rapport qualité prix, il me semble assez interressant, aussi chere que le sol sirenans dont les avis me semble quelque peu mitigé

alors j'aimerais savoir si quelqu'un aurais des photos de cette hotel ou meme des avis, en particulier de la plage, eau translucide ? sable blanc ? (je sais on es obsedé par ca, mais on veut quand meme bouger hors de la plage et vu qu'on pars pas souvent on y tiens quand meme a notre plage de reve :))

Je serai à partir du 25 décembre en Thailande. Je pense commencer mon voyage par une petite halte à Ko Samui histoire de se reposer un peu 😎 et de faire un petit cours de cuisine à la sitca. L'un(e) d'entre vous a-t-il(elle) déjà testé la classe dite "Galaxy" sur cette compagnie ? Le supplément demandé est beaucoup plus faible que celui qui correspond �� la classe affaire sur une compagnie régulière et je me demande si ça vaut le coup...

Okay, it wasn’t a total disaster either. Actually, I hesitated before starting this travel journal: is it even worth writing about a holiday that won’t leave an unforgettable memory? In the end, I went for it (there aren’t many recent travel journals about this destination). So, read on... or don’t .

Every time we’ve been to the Canary Islands, it’s been by default (basically: where can we go in winter or early spring when we only have a week—so not too far, not too much jet lag, but with decent weather?).

This time, we had two weeks, but the winter plan kept changing: first Thailand (dropped for personal reasons), then Martinique (dropped because of work leave dates that weren’t up to me), and finally, the Canary Islands.

We’ve already been to Tenerife (which we really liked) and Lanzarote (which we liked a little less). This year, two options: Gran Canaria or one of the smaller islands west of Tenerife (La Palma, or even La Gomera or El Hierro). We chose Gran Canaria... not sure it was the right call! Whose fault is it? Storm Thérèse’s! Yes, Storm Thérèse followed us on arrival, and its effects lasted quite a while. We had to adapt, cancel visits, change activities...

But even without Thérèse...

Saturday 21/03 Departure from Orly at 6:10 AM with Transavia. The plane took off on time and landed a little early, tossed around by strong winds before touching down. It had just rained, but it was (almost) no longer raining.



We quickly picked up our luggage and then the car at the Cicar counter. We got a Seat Arona instead of the Corsa we’d booked. Well, while the driving position didn’t feel great at first (I got used to it), the engine’s smoothness and power were much appreciated on the island’s winding and sometimes steep roads.

It was only 10 AM, and we couldn’t theoretically check into our accommodation until 3 PM (the owner promised to message me if it was ready earlier). So, we headed to the (big) *Jardín Botánico Viera y Clavijo*, where we planned to spend a few hours. We found a huge parking lot... empty. The passenger in the car in front of us (yes, we weren’t the only ones at the closed gate—there was a car in front and one behind) went to ask for info: it was closed due to the storm 😕. So, we calmly headed toward Puerto de las Nieves, on the northwest coast of the island.

The plan: go to a restaurant, visit the village, and do some shopping while waiting for early afternoon. As soon as we got out of the car, it started raining... we took shelter under the awning of a shop, waiting for it to pass. But the rain turned into a downpour, and within minutes, awning or not, Gore-Tex or not, we were soaked!

Since we were already wet, we might as well go to the restaurant—they weren’t far! But here’s the thing: contrary to what Google Maps said, they all opened at 1 PM, not noon! Back to the car, wading through 5 cm of water because all the village streets were flooded . The rain let up, we did some shopping, went to eat, and I got a message from the owner saying the accommodation was ready 🙂.

So, off we went to La Suerte, a few kilometers north of Agaete. The downside of the place, especially with luggage, is that you have to climb several flights of stairs via an outdoor staircase (after parking more or less far away on a steep street) to get there 😛). Of course, on the way from the car to the apartment, it started pouring again—the bags got soaked! Enough rain for today! We settled in quietly, and by late afternoon, we could (finally!) go admire the view from the terrace.

Is hitchhiking in Thailand a good idea? A bad one? Safe or not?

Instead of sharing my thoughts on the subject, I’ll tell you about my four short hitchhiking "adventures" over 40 years of traveling there. Hopefully, this will help you form your own opinion.

First, a general rule I always follow in Southeast Asia: whether you're a woman or a man, in the city or the countryside, if you're a foreigner—even in a small group—never let yourself get completely isolated once night falls.

Okay, here we go.

My first time:

This happened in the late 80s in Kanchanaburi province, on route 3272/4088, somewhere between the charming Thong Pha Phum and that spot on the Burmese border where a gas pipeline—owned at the time by a major French company—crosses. I don’t remember why or how I ended up on that remote road, but since I love getting lost, it was fine. Except that it was already mid-afternoon, no songthaew had shown up after an hour of waiting, and I wanted to get back to T.P. Phum before dark. So I started walking, keeping an ear out for any approaching engine to flag down (hand flat, palm down, waving as if saying goodbye). Soon after, a slightly upscale car stopped—a high-end Japanese model. Inside was a couple in their thirties. "You guys headin’ to Thong Pha Phum?" "Sure, no problem, my good farang, hop in." I was saved. We drove for 20-30 kilometers, then the guy pulled over: "Come on, let’s grab a drink..." Later, I’d learn we were near the spot where they were spending a short vacation, south of the reservoir stretching from T.P.P. to Sangkhlaburi—a place (that part of the lake) known for its waterfront resorts for couples, families (next stop...), and other Thais out for a good time (I’d stay there myself a weekend a few years later, in a dorm room with about thirty Thai friends). We had a drink. The woman barely sipped hers. We had a second. She didn’t say anything, but I could read in her eyes what she was thinking (no language barrier for that kind of communication). Then he ordered a third. She shot her husband a disapproving, embarrassed look. As for me, aware I was still far from "home" and that night was falling, I started pretending to drink too. You can guess the rest: the guy kept ordering, got drunker and drunker, and his wife didn’t dare scold him in front of me, but the looks she gave him—and her discomfort around the other people in the roadside joint—spoke volumes.

After a (very) long while, the woman couldn’t take it anymore and finally reminded him, I assume, that they still had to take me to T.P.P. But given his state, it was unanimously decided—by both of us—that there was no way he was driving. I felt stuck, especially since I don’t drive. And her? Oh, she could. I helped the guy as best I could, and the joint’s owner, taking pity on me, lent a hand. We got him into the back seat, where he fell asleep almost immediately. It was around 8 PM when, with her husband still snoring in the back, she dropped me off at the entrance of the guesthouse in Thong Pha Phum, near the market square. I thanked her, feeling a pang of sympathy for the moment she’d have to haul her husband from the car to their room. They drove off. I was hungry. At the far end of the market square was a great restaurant with a direct view of the Mae Nam Khwae. I headed that way.

Flights with Oman Air from CDG Paris – on time – good meals – screen. **Phone**: I got the Oman pass from Orange for 29.99 € before leaving – valid for 30 days with 20GB – SMS, etc. Everyone uses WhatsApp there. **Car**: Booked with Travz Car Rental – 18 days – 175 rials – no deposit – delivered to the airport at P1, Level 1 – Tel. +968 9536 1234 – return at P1, Level 4 – all at your convenience and no waiting. I recommend, a brand-new sedan (1,300 km on the odometer) – enough for everything (even Jebel Shams but not Jebel Hajar and the desert). Fuel at 0.229 rials per liter and available everywhere, car wash for 1.5 rials. **Exchange**: We went near the Grand Mosque to exchange money at Unimoni – tel. +968 99326724 – the exchange rate is around 1%. **Hotels**: **Muscat**: Haffa House Hotel (Ruwi) – 54.09 rials – 3 nights with breakfast included – very good hotel – pool – I recommend, and lots of restaurants nearby. **TIWI**: Night at Tiwi Pearl – great welcome even though it wasn’t easy to find – 21.12 rials + breakfast – tel +968 98046446 – I recommend. **SUR**: Zaki Hotel – well located – breakfast and restaurant – tel. +968 79011186 – nice room – I recommend. **RAS AL HADD**: Super OYO 110 – located at the end of the track – tel. +968 93612026 – ask for rooms with a balcony on the 2nd floor – 17 rials with breakfast. **ROMAIL**: Oriental Nights – tel. +968 92896363 – 2 nights for 47 rials without breakfast (2 rials per person, while everywhere else it’s 1 to 1.5 max). The room is very nice. Avoid the food, which is poor and expensive for the country, but there’s nothing else around. **SINAW**: Ain Safnan – tel +968 90627212 – 16.17 rials without breakfast – nothing extraordinary, but there aren’t many choices. However, it’s very well located. **NIZWA**: Nima Guesthouse – very well located in the center – tel +968 90919095 – 2 nights for 45.05 rials + breakfast at 1.5 rials. **AL HAMRA**: Dar Al Hamra – 3 nights for 47.20 rials + breakfast at 1.5 rials – a peaceful haven in the middle of the palm grove with a pool. I recommend. **IZKI**: Cloudy Cloud – a bit isolated but a restaurant 2 minutes away – very nice room – tel. +968 95087776 – 20.08 rials per night. **SEEB**: Al Waves Hotel – 27 rials per night with breakfast – restaurant – 10 minutes from the airport, a very nice Thai/Chinese hotel – beautiful pool and terrace with sea views. I found this info: "Since June 1, 2022, it’s no longer necessary to buy the German eco sticker to drive in Freiburg-im-Breisgau’s Umweltzonen (low-emission zones). Hi there, I’m heading to Florence soon, and since I want to visit as many museums as possible, I’m thinking of getting the Firenzecard (or Firenze Card). From what I’ve gathered online (and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong), with this card, you need to call a phone number to book a specific time slot for the Uffizi Gallery (+39 055 294883). Unfortunately, when I try calling this number from my mobile, I get a message saying the number “is no longer in service.” Has anyone else run into this?
