Donc si dans ces régions vous pensez qu'il y a des évènements, des lieux a voir absolument n'hésitez pas ) nous répondre.

Les touristes français sont victimes de la cessation de l'activité annoncée samedi par Avione Travel, un tour operator suisse.

Entre 138 et 180 touristes français sont bloqués en République dominicaine du fait de la cessation d'activités du voyagiste suisse Avione Travel, a-t-on appris dimanche auprès du Quai d'Orsay et de sources locales.

"Notre consulat sur place nous a informé que 138 vacanciers français, partis en République dominicaine par le biais d'Avione, n'avaient plus de vol pour rentrer", a indiqué dimanche après-midi une porte-parole du ministère des affaires étrangères français.

Nos sources donnent le chiffre de 180 personnes.

Ces Français étaient partis en vacances avec le Tour operator suisse Avione. Or Avione Travel a annoncé samedi qu'il avait cessé toutes ses activités depuis vendredi, à la suite notamment de la liquidation judiciaire de la compagnie aérienne Aéris et de "problèmes opérationnels" rencontrés avec Eurojet Airlines, les deux compagnies par lesquelles il faisait acheminer ses clients.

Une partie des touristes français sont restés bloqués à l'hôtel Camino del Sol à Cabarette. D'autres Français qui faisaient partie du groupe mais qui résidaient à l'hôtel Paradisio del Sol à Puerto Plata auraient réussi à rentrer.

"De plus, dans un hôtel (Camino del Sol), la direction a exigé des vacanciers qu'ils règlent leur séjour - normalement déjà payé par Avione, - et elle a pour cela fait appel à la police", a ajouté la porte-parole du Quai d'Orsay. L'hôtel exige le règlement d'une somme de 1200 dollars (1020 euros) par personne.

A l'appel de la direction, la police est venue sur place. Des hommes en uniforme avec des armes à feu sont installés dans l'hôtel.

Les autorités françaises, notamment consulaires, sont sur place, ainsi que l'ambassadeur de France en République dominicaine M. Jean-Claude Moyret. Elles essaient notamment d'obtenir la remise des passeports qui ont été confisqués.

Elles s'occupent aussi de rapatrier les Français. Le vol Aeris sur lequel ils devaient rentrer hier a été annulé. Elles essaient donc de les faire repartir sur un vol d'American Airlines, de Corsair ou d'Air Caraïbes, et au plus tard un vol Air France mercredi.

Je suis allé en Islande cet été. Super voyage. Retour à l'aéroport pour un vol à 7h du matin. Pas trop réveillé, j'enregistre mes bagages et me rend au passage de la fouille. Je vide mes poches devant l'agent de sécurité et découvre que j'avais oublié de mettre mon couteau suisse dans mes bagages enregistrés. L'homme de sécurité me l'a pris immédiatement en me disant qu'il était perdu. J'ai protesté, puis de retour en France j'ai envoyé un e-mail aux responsables de l'aéroport (cf ci-dessous). Je n'ai pas eu de réponse. J'ai trouvé lamentable cette façon de se comporter. Est-ce déjà arrivé à l'un d'entre vous, si oui, qu'avez vous fait?

I took the flight n° 0542 this morning (09/10/03) from Keflavik to Paris at 7:45.

During the handbag security control, I emptied my pockets and discovered that I forgot to let my Swiss knife in my luggage.

Then, the security airport staff took it to me immediately and said that it was lost!

I was shocked. This Swiss knife is a gift from my parents done 17 years ago (the initials of my name are carved on the red part

of the knife "S.D").

I desperately tried to find a solution discussing with the agent and his above in the rank who repeated stupidly `this is the rule´.

Then, I proposed two solutions : to give the knife to the pilot in order he gives it back to me at the arrival in Paris, to check-in another time the knife in the unique plastic bag I had left.

These two proposals have been rejected. NO OTHER SOLUTION has been proposed by the supposed "PROFESSIONAL"

security airport staff.

However, with a bit of good sense, there was at least, 2 possibilities, I found during my flight back : Ask another passenger to Paris to put my Swiss knife in his luggage at the checking step, Send it to myself in Paris by airmail (post-office service).

But even your staff did not think about it. Then, my knife stayed in Keflavik airport.

I state that I have been robbed by the security staff. This is a pity after 2 good travelling weeks in your country. I will never forget

this stupid event.

Ma question est très simple, mais à 3 semaines du grand départ commence à devenir un vrai casse-tête alors voilà pourquoi je la pose ici.

On est 2 nanas de Suisse qui allons partir dans exactement 3 semaines pour une durée de 1 an, voir plus... en Asie du Sud-Est.

Je voulais savoir s'il existait une assurance maladie + accident + rapatriement en cas de problème, qui pourrait nous couvrir durant le temps de notre voyage?

L'histoire c'est que si on quitte la Suisse pour une longue période, sans y garder un domicile (au niveau des papiers), les assurances maladie ne nous couvrent plus.

Si on y garde un domicile, c'est comme si on n'étais pas parties, donc on va se retrouver à devoir payer des taxes et autres choses du genre pour rien.

Voilà, j'ai partagé avec vous mon souci d'avant le départ... en éspérant que quelqu'un pourra éclairer ma lanterne

Notre famille prévoyons aller en Europe (17 jours)à l'été prochain. Nous sommes en attente de propositions d'échange de maison mais sinon nous avions prévu l'itinéraire suivant: France(côte d'azur, Annecy) - Suisse (Lausanne, Bâle) - France (Colmar, Strasbourg) - Allemagne (Heidelberg, Cologne, Duisburg) puis Bruxelle. Avec ce trajet nous voulions répondre aux goûts de tous les membres de la famille: Mer pour notre fils, Château pour notre fille, vignobles pour M et architecture pour Mme... et toute notre famille voulons aller rendre visite à des amis à Duisburg en Allemagne. OUf!!! 😕

Est-ce réaliste? Que proposeriez-vous à une famille un peu anxieuse de tout voir???!!!!.... Est-ce mieux (distance, temps et $$$$) de faire les trajets en voitures ou en train. Si vous connaissez des endroits Super à visiter dans ces régions svp nous les indiquer.

Votre forum est extra. Merci à tous, qui m'ont déjà informé de bons plans. Je parts le 17 juin pour 8 mois en Amérique latine (dont deux mois humanitaire à Lima). Mon itinéraire : Pérou, Bolivie, Chili/Argentine, jusqu'à Terre de Feu et retour en suisse par Buenos Air. Tout cela avec le sac à dos.

Qui a des bon plans : adresses de logements, visites, noms de guides/agences pour trekking, et des petits secrets aux quels échappent la masse touristique. Quel temps de visite pour quel pays ? Enfin tous vous "tipps" comme diraient nos chers Suisse-allemands !

Est-il utile, nécessaire de prendre une tente ?

Est-ce que les trekks peuvent être effectués sans guide et sans danger ?

J'aimerais ensuite avoir des suggestions sur les beaux endroits à visiter partout en Europe (je n'ai aucune restriction!) J'aime beaucoup la nature, le camping, la randonnée et la plongée. (en apnée surtout) J'aimerais aussi recevoir des conseils sur le camping en Europe et aussi la meilleure façon de se déplacer (pendant plusieurs semaines) Se louer une voiture?? Train?? Autobus?

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.

August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.

We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.

A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.

Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.

Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.

Over the years, we’ve:

renovated a house in Croatia made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert helped sail a boat through the Greek islands looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals worked at a street art festival in Morocco created videos for local associations and projects worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia

Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.

We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.

While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

We bought our tickets to Greece at the end of November 2025, and let’s just say the geopolitical climate has really taken a turn since then with the war started by the United States against Iran. Not to mention all the other conflicts happening around the world 😕... Anyway! Our flight from Montreal is on May 1st, and I was wondering how things are currently being experienced in Greece. We were planning to rent a car and had already booked accommodations on three Cyclades islands!! The oil shortage is also worrying us... hi, I’m planning a trip to Albania in a camper van, most likely between May, June, and early July (2027), for about 60 days. On the way down, I’ll go as far as Bari (or Brindisi) and cross by ferry, and on the way back, I’ll go through the former Yugoslavia (or maybe take the return ferry?). Has anyone been there recently? I’m planning a campervan road trip and would love some tips from those who know these countries: Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia again. At the moment, nothing’s set in stone, but for example, is it better to visit Slovenia or Bosnia? My preferences lean toward landscapes (rivers, sea, lakes)—basically anywhere there’s water! :) Wild camping, cheap or even free spots, and a *very* tight budget—it’s the discovery, curiosity, and meeting locals that drive me. I’ll visit cities and sites only if access is easy (by bike, for example, or by train from an affordable campsite) and if visitors aren’t treated like cash cows. Just reasonable stuff, really. So, any advice is welcome—like swimming spots or easy hikes along coasts or rivers. I love caves and offbeat visits (salt mines in Poland, La Roque Saint-Christophe in France, etc.). Castles and old ruins? Not really my thing... Thanks for your help! Sylvia

Berlin in May is really nice.

Day 1: Flight from Orly to Berlin. We had a bit of a struggle finding the train or RER to get to "Mitte". The Berliners were quite helpful in trying to guide us. Settled into our hotel, we took some time to explore the northern part of "Mitte". Dinner at a pizzeria and off to bed.

Day 2: A 3-hour guided tour of Berlin East’s must-see spots. Great idea—it helped us plan the rest of our stay. After a quick lunch at a kebab place, we set off on foot to check out the graffitied Berlin Wall, including the Swiss Army Knife mural. We stopped by some cool bars along the way (we love walking). Back by metro—we’re starting to figure out how it works. Dinner near our hotel at a Chinese restaurant.

Day 3: We visited the Jewish quarter, walked to Charlottenburg, and then headed to the Memorial Museum, a must-see. Grabbed a snack with a slightly spicy Berlin sausage and made our way to the Jewish Museum. Since we’re not Jewish, we didn’t fully grasp its content, despite the richness of the exhibits. Walked back and had dinner at a traditional restaurant.

Day 4: Back in 1968, as a high school student, I stayed with a German family to improve my German—which I’ve since forgotten. I wanted to revisit Kurfürstendamm, but it was a mistake. This West Berlin neighborhood, with its bars, nightclubs, and luxury shops, has lost all its charm. It’s now just a residential area. We headed back through one of Berlin’s many beautiful parks.

Day 5: Our last day included a visit to Charlottenburg Palace—a mini Versailles—and a stroll around the Reichstag. The cherry on top of this trip was getting to visit the dome. Luckily, I’d read that you need to book in advance to access it. Three weeks before our departure, I logged on and—surprise—I got two spots for the day before we left at 6:30 PM. I confirmed right away. It’s true that on-site, buses drop off tourists who could crowd the dome, so booking early is *totally* worth it.

Day 6: Heading home. If we’d gotten a 72-hour metro pass, we could’ve saved a day. Sure, we walked a lot, but like in Paris, being outside lets you appreciate the city’s architecture even more.

I’ve gotten used to crossing Europe by bus to return by bike. It was really convenient to take the bike without having to disassemble it. But FlixBus no longer accepts bikes... What alternatives do you know about? Thanks.
