India inaugurates the new Navi Mumbai International Airport and the final phase of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3—a major turning point for the country’s infrastructure. Mumbai, India’s economic capital, is entering a new era of modernization. The Indian government has officially inaugurated the Navi Mumbai International Airport, one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, along with the final phase of Metro Line 3, a key axis to ease congestion in the megacity. The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), located about 35 km from the city center, aims to eventually handle up to 60 million passengers per year. Built to reduce pressure on the already saturated Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport, it features ultra-modern facilities, sustainable design, and cutting-edge technologies for air traffic management and energy efficiency. At the same time, the completion of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3, connecting Colaba to Bandra-SEEPZ, marks a major advancement in urban mobility. This 33.5 km underground section will significantly reduce travel time and congestion in a city known for its chronic traffic jams. These two projects reflect the Indian government’s commitment to transforming Mumbai into a global hub, combining connectivity, sustainability, and economic development.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), a project two decades in the making, has finally come to fruition. Phase one of the airport was inaugurated Wednesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. Although the first phase, which includes Terminal 1 and Runway 1 with 10 bus gates and 29 aero bridges, has been inaugurated, flight operations will not begin immediately.

"Post-inauguration, the airport will be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for a security sweep, which could take 30 to 45 days. We also need to mobilize customs and immigration teams and complete end-to-end testing, which is a 45-60-day process," said Arun Bansal, CEO of Adani Airports Holdings Ltd, developer and operator of the NMIA, during a press briefing at the NMIA premises Monday. Even though an exact date hasn’t been announced, NMIA CEO Captain B V J K Sharma and Bansal said commercial flights are expected to begin in December 2025. Plans of major carriers Three major airlines—Air India, Akasa Air, and IndiGo—have already signed on to shift part of their operations to NMIA. Last month, Air India announced plans to start with 20 daily departures (40 air traffic movements) through Air India Express, connecting 15 Indian cities in the first phase. By mid-2026, it aims to scale up to 55 daily departures, including up to five international flights. IndiGo, which made its announcement in May, plans to operate 18 daily flights to more than 15 cities from the first day of commercial operations and intends to expand to 140 daily flights—30 of which will be international—within 18 months. In June, Akasa Air said it will start with 15 daily domestic flights, scaling up to over 300 domestic and 50 international flights a week within a few months. When asked which airline will operate the first flight, Bansal said, "We want all three airlines to be there on Day 1. It depends on who has the earliest slot that day, and the destination choice lies entirely with the airlines." Operations to begin with 12-hour window In the first month, flights will operate between 8 am and 8 pm, with the 12-hour window likely to be extended as operations stabilize. Although NMIA’s full capacity is 40 air traffic movements (ATMs) per hour, the initial phase will handle 10 ATMs—allowing 10 aircraft to land or take off every hour. Airlines are expected to announce routes and ticket sales soon. Touted as an international aviation hub, NMIA positions Mumbai alongside global twin-airport cities such as London, Dubai, and New York, and plans to launch both domestic and international operations from Day 1. Concession for international carriers When asked if international carriers will be given any concessions, Bansal said, "For international airlines, we will not charge them parking fees for the first year." The duo added that NMIA aims to reclaim Mumbai’s rightful place on the global aviation map. "For a decade… travelers didn’t have a choice—airlines couldn’t get additional slots (at the Mumbai airport), so traffic shifted to Delhi. We are course-correcting that with NMIA. It won’t happen overnight, but over the next five–seven years, you’ll see the change," said Bansal. He noted that Mumbai currently lacks direct flights to major destinations in Europe and the U.S., something NMIA hopes to change. "If you see east-to-west flights, Mumbai is a natural stop," added Sharma. As reported earlier, NMIA will eventually feature four terminals and two parallel runways, with a total capacity to handle up to 90 million passengers per annum (MPPA), compared to 20 MPPA in the first phase. In the long term, the airport aims to serve as a key transfer hub between the East and the West, enabling passengers from Southeast Asia to connect seamlessly to Europe and North America.

Hi everyone, It's tough to see all of Sri Lanka in 15/16 days. Trip planned for February 2025. We really want to visit Jaffna, but that takes 2/3 days, so it's hard to cover the North, the Center, and the Southwest. Maybe skip the west coast or just stop in Galle for a quick look? Or is it a must to go there before heading back up through the Center, then the North, and finishing in Kalpitiya? Are the beaches and swimming good in February? Hey hey, A great way to meet locals! I got hooked on it over the years, and after a few women-only trips with an all-female agency (bad experiences with 5 to 10 chicks every time—many of them think they’re well-educated but actually stick their noses in everything 🤪), I’m heading out solo again soon. Little tip for those who are nervous but still want to travel solo: It’s all about attitude because everything shows on your face. Sometimes approached by aggressive or just rowdy groups, it’s easy to spot the ringleader (it’s the one running his mouth 😏). And that’s who you need to target—use a tone that’ll leave him speechless (after that, you’ve won, and sometimes they even become friends). Not always, though! 😄

Hello, We’re planning a trip to São Vicente and Santo Antão in January. We’re a couple (ages 51 and 57). My husband is really into hiking. As for me, I’m not at my best right now—I’ve just recovered from a long illness and am still on medication that exhausts me and causes a lot of pain, so I won’t be able to keep up with very "physical" hikes. That said, I still enjoy walking in nature. We’re looking for advice on where we could stay. A place where my husband can go hiking while I take shorter walks. But also somewhere I can relax in nature, maybe go for a swim if possible, and enjoy local life—markets, music, etc. Boat trips would be a great bonus for us. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Starting July 5, 2025, swimming will be allowed in the Seine in Paris for the first time since 1923. Three free sites will open: Bercy (12th arrondissement), Grenelle (15th arrondissement), and Bras Marie (4th arrondissement).

Personally, I often prioritize simple destinations (no administrative hassles), where I’m not at risk (nothing extraordinary like getting kidnapped by Daesh or ending up in a jail cell because the current geopolitics aren’t favorable to my passport, etc.), and where I can drive.

Wide-open natural spaces are more my thing than urban anthills.

Finally, I try not to spend three days on a plane to reach my destination, and I aim for a maximum budget of 3500 € (for 3 weeks) in comfortable conditions—that means charming hotels, good meals, etc.

Hi there. We’re spending a month in Sri Lanka in March, and we’ll have one week left after leaving Polonnaruwa. We’re torn between spending it in the Jaffna region or on the east coast between Batticaloa and Trincomalee. We’re divers, so the east coast appeals to us for snorkeling, beaches, and lagoons—but it seems like late March might not be the best time for that coast. What do you think? As for Jaffna, the culture of the region, its more authentic feel since it’s less touristy, and the offshore islands all appeal to us too—but it seems far from the rest of the country and harder to access. To add to the info in the title, I’m open to various activities, but ideally, it’d include snorkeling, hiking, dance (every evening if possible!), group tours, etc. I’d love to meet people (not necessarily a man—just people in general!). Hi there, I’m Canadian. In June 2025, I’m planning to travel to Nordkapp in Norway to start a bike trip all the way to Finistère in Spain. My plan is to take a flight to CDG, Paris, and then connect to a flight to Honningsvåg. Do you think that’s the best option? The other option would be to fly from Canada to Oslo and then connect to a flight to Honningsvåg. It seemed just as easy to go through Paris as it did to go to Oslo. Maybe there are other ways besides flying to get to Honningsvåg. I could also have the option to go directly to Nordkapp. Any possible options would help me plan my trip better so I can start my bike journey from Nordkapp. VéloAcadien. Paul 😉

Beaucoup de personnes rêvent de partir en voyage afin de s'investif dans une mission humanitaire , ou participer à une action solidaire 🤝. Quoi de mieux en effet que donner du sens à ses voyages à l'étranger ?! Et pourtant, mal renseigné.e.s et/ou mal préparé.e.s, beaucoup sont également celles et ceux qui ont eu de mauvaises surprises ou se sont fait.e.s escroqué.e.s.

Au travers de ce post, je souhaite donc vous permettre d'accéder aux outils et aux informations qui vous permettront d'encore mieux comprendre de quoi il s'agit lorsqu'il est question d'humanitaire ou de solidarité internationale, et peut-être vous permettre de mieux vous préparer dans votre souhait solidaire.

Pour commencer, mettons tout de suite les choses au clair: On ne paye pas pour être bénévole ! Et pourtant, beaucoup de pseudo associations vous proposent de participer à leurs projets en l'échange d'une somme d'argent conséquente... Ce sont en réalité des entreprises dont le but est naturellement de réaliser des profits ! On n'appelle pas cela de l'humanitaire, mais du volontourisme. Le business de ces structures crapuleuses vise en effet à exploiter d’une part la pauvreté des communautés qu’ils exhibent, et d’autre part la bonne volonté et le portefeuille des volontouristes, d’autant plus que les sommes demandées sont sans commune mesure avec les niveaux de vie réels constatés sur place. Nous vous conseillons donc plutôt de vous renseigner sur les dispositifs de volontariat encadrés par l’État tels que le Service volontaire européen ou le Volontariat de solidarité international n’exigent nullement de payer pour y participer. Et pour en savoir plus, vous pouvez consulter notre vidéo détaillant les alternatives justes et sensées en matière de volontariat et les pièges à éviter.

Mais du coup, si le volontourisme n'a rien à voir avec l'humanitaire, qu'est-ce que l'humanitaire justement ? L’objectif principal de toute assistance humanitaire est de sauver des vies, d’alléger les souffrances et d’assister les victimes d’une catastrophe tout en cherchant à rétablir leur dignité. Et pour y parvenir, les organisations humanitaires sont soumises à tout un panel de règles et de principes pour lesquels il est nécessaire d'employer des gens spécialement formés/préparés à cette fin. Là encore, il est possible de mieux comprendre ce qu'est l'humanitaire au travers de son histoire, des contextes dans lesquels il s'inscrit et les principes qui régissent l'action humanitaire en consultant notre vidéo spécialement éditée à cette fin.

Et si, au lieu de partir spécialement en mission humanitaire, nous adaptions seulement nos comportements lorsque nous sommes en vacances à l'étranger, afin de les rendre compatibles avec les principes humanitaires ? Là encore, nous avons veillé à fournir toute une liste de conseils sensés pour quiconque serait intéressé.e par une telle démarche au travers d'un article complet.

Air France, annonce que l'on peut annuler ou reporter de vols prévus jusqu'au 3 juillet prochain. Les propositions en face sont un report ou un avoir. Et là je pose une question: Comment s'utilise un avoir? Air France signale une validité d'un an à partir la date d'émission. Puis je avec un tel avoir, obtenu disons le 15 avril prochain, réserver un vol le 15 ou 20 juin 2021? Ou dois je tout bêtement attendre l'annulation par la compagnie? Merci pour vos réponses.

Bonjour, Nous avons réservé via un voyagiste (lidl) un séjour de 10 jours au Mexique pour le 1er juillet (prestataire boomerang). Les vols sont opérés par americain airlines et font escales aux etats unis. Par peur du virus, j'ai demandé l'annulation de mon voyage pour l'effectuer plus tard.. on me répond: que si j'annule jai une pénalité de 450e par personne (nous sommes 4) et je perds l'assurance de 280e car "à ce jour mon voyage est "maintenu", ils n'ont pas de visu après fin mai.." Est ce normal?? Je pensais vu ce que j'ai lu que la loi nous protège pour des séjours allant jusqu'à septembre. Je laisse courir mais.. Qu'en pensez vous?

Le Cambodge interdit à partir du 17 mars pour 30 jours l’entrée sur son territoire pour les étrangers en provenance d’Allemagne, d’Espagne, de France, d’Italie et des Etats-Unis. Le gouvernement cambodgien a annoncé une interdiction d’entrée sur son territoire des étrangers en provenance d’Allemagne, Espagne, France, Italie et des Etats-Unis pour une période de 30 jours à partir du mardi 17 mars. Cette mesure vise à prévenir la propagation du Covid-19 au Cambodge, d’après une déclaration du ministère cambodgien de la santé.

Y a t'il des frais que l'on découvre au moment de prendre le véhicule , des microrayures qui à la restitution deviennent de gros dommages ....

Embargo des Etas Unis pour Cuba , sujet qui revient sans cesse...casse tête des voyageurs.... je prévois d, aller à cuba en prenant mes billets depuis san francisco -Si je transite à Mexico avec aéro mexico , je suis soumise à l'embrago et je dois remplir certaines conditions. -Si je transite par Panama, je ne vois aucune condition à remplir.

Si quelqu'un est arrivée et reparti de La Havane en transitant à Panama avec départ et retour aux Etats unis, je serais bien contente de savoir si je n'aurai aucune contrainte, vols non bloqué... Merci pour votre aide.
