J'embarque sous peu (samedi) pour Punta Cana. Ce sera la première fois que je quitte notre cher pays et donc la première fois que je pends l'avion.

Je me pose donc inévitablement la question de la monnaie : $US, € ou DOP ? Laquelle emmener ? Si j'emmène des Euros le taux est-il intéressant ou ne jurent-ils que par les $ ? J'ai cru comprendre qu'il fallait $10 + $20 à régler en liquide pour des histoires de taxes touristiques.

Faut-il faire le change à l'aéroport ou avant de partir auprès de ma banque (on me propose 1€ = 1, 15 USD alors qu'à la bouse c'est 1, 22) ? L'hôtel (Sirenis Tropical suites) accepte-t-il le paiement par CB VISA ?

I’ve been wanting to do this for several years, and this year’s the one. Next September, I’ll be trekking in Tusheti (Georgia), from Omalo to Shatili. Of course, I won’t be renting a vehicle that’d just sit unused. No problem getting to Pshaveli, but from there to Omalo, it’s a dirt road (still the case?) There must be some form of public transport since there are so many guesthouses, and not all travelers come in a 4x4. If any of you have been to Omalo, could you confirm that these shared transports exist and how often they run?

Is it better to go during the first half of October, the second half (or the middle 😏), or does the current unpredictable weather make it all pretty much the same in the end?

Hello VF friends! We’re planning to leave Marrakesh by rental car—this will be our second trip to Morocco. While we want to revisit some places, we also hope to explore new regions. Here’s the start of our itinerary, which could take 2 to 3 weeks. We don’t want to cover too many kilometers each day.

- Depart Marrakech for Essaouira, stopping to visit the Inzerki beehive. We’ll stay 3 nights in Essaouira to explore the city and the surrounding area. - Head toward Tamanar or that region for another 3 nights, exploring on a star-shaped route. We’d like to see the Paradise Valley and the coast. Not really keen on stopping in Agadir.

We’ve been to Tafraoute before, but I’d love to see some *greniers* (granaries) again, so we’re considering 1 or 2 nights there.

- Tiznit for 2 nights, making our way to Plage Blanche. - Guelmin and the Tighmert oasis for 2 nights. - Tata for 2 nights, visiting Akka Iguane and other villages.

After that, we’ll head east.

Hello, We’re planning our trip for next summer, which will be based in Komodo, then Alor, and back to Bali to catch our international flight. To secure that flight, we’re planning to spend our last two full days (actually 3 nights) in Bali. We’ve already visited Bali twice—first time 30 years ago and the second time 12 years ago—and we don’t want to revisit the must-see spots (and definitely not Ubud; I had a bit of a shock there 12 years ago). What could you recommend for activities and hotel locations? We’re looking for fairly exclusive experiences, not too physically demanding since we’re not as young as we used to be. We’re big fans of good food and beautiful landscapes. Can we find a driver/guide for these two days? Thanks in advance for your recommendations

I’m planning my very first trip soon, which will be to South Korea, and I’d love some advice and tips from people who’ve already been there.

I’ll be traveling in October with a friend, and we’re staying for a little over a month. We’ve planned to visit Seoul, Busan, and Jeju Island, and we’d also like to check out some traditional villages—but I’m not sure which ones yet? (I’ve seen names like Gyeongju, Jeonju, and Andong?) So, I’d really appreciate any recommendations on that, as well as how much time you’d suggest spending in each city to make the most of it 🙂 If you have other destinations to recommend, I’m all ears 😉

As for accommodations, is it better to book everything in advance, or is it possible to find something on the day for that same night? I’m a bit anxious about this since we haven’t finalized the dates for each city yet...

I'm starting my first travel journal since VF reopened!

This will mostly be to share my impressions and some photos, with a few days' delay, but I'm starting this journal while I'm still here.

First, I'd like to thank those who helped me prepare for this trip.

I was able to organize this stay in one of the most expensive countries in the world thanks to the home-exchange principle. Not necessarily a direct swap, but through a points system, which is more practical for choosing where you want to go without it having to be a reciprocal exchange.

For this trip, there will already be two different accommodations. We'll see how it goes after that.

The first place is near Yverdon-les-Bains, close to Lake Neuchâtel.

So, we're going to explore this area!

We arrived under capricious weather that won’t leave us for the next few days!

We had dinner at a pizzeria recommended by *Le Routard* in Yverdon, then took a little nighttime stroll through the town center before heading inland to settle into our accommodation.

We discovered a very large, quiet house—and especially the cat that stayed behind! Funny for a couple of mice! He’ll be sleeping with us 😹

This month’s theme is: “Reflection(s)” This leaves a pretty wide scope: reflections in water, of course, but also in windows, on buildings... I’ll leave it to your imagination, but the reflection should be clearly visible.

If this theme has been used before, it doesn’t matter. It’s getting tricky to find new themes that can attract as many participants as possible.

I’m currently in northern Finland and don’t have access to my hard drives, so I’ll add a few photos when I return to France. Here’s just one I took with my smartphone yesterday late afternoon:

I’ve got a one-way ticket to Vietnam. My return flight will be from Malaysia since I’ll be traveling around Southeast Asia overland. To qualify for the 45-day visa-free entry, you need to show an exit ticket from Vietnam. Do you think a bus ticket from Saigon to Phnom Penh would work?

Good evening. I hope you're all doing well. Sorry in advance—my message will be a bit long, and sorry for any spelling mistakes.

So, here's the thing: I booked a flight ticket through an intermediary to go to Réunion from November 29th to December 16th. This evening, I was checking the dates and times of my flight, and—WHAT A NASTY SURPRISE!!

My outbound ticket is correct—no issues, the day and time match perfectly. But there’s NO flight at the time listed on my return ticket!!! I thought it must be a glitch. I refreshed the page several times, cleared my history, and even searched on other sites and in private browsing.

But it’s still the same—no flight on December 16th leaves at the time shown on my ticket. I went back to the intermediary’s site, then checked the airline’s website, and I had the idea to try December 15th for the departure—and BINGO! The return flight time, the airline, the type of plane—everything matches.

I realized then that the site that sold me the ticket made a mistake on the return date. I don’t know what to do because I can’t get anyone on the phone.

Since the error is on their end, are they obligated to change my flight to December 15th, or do I have to pay for a new ticket?

If I ask them to put me on another flight on the 16th, will I have to pay fees or not?

I’m completely lost and pretty upset, so if you have any answers to my questions, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Je souhaite profiter des plages et du snorkeling tout en allant vers l authenticité des phiilippins, en évitant le gros flot des touristes si cela est possible. Voilà nous avons enfin fait le choix de la destination ! Ce sera le sud du Portugal pour une semaine ou 10 jours début août. Nous sommes un couple et un enfant de 10 ans.

Nous arriverons à Faro. J'avais prévu d'y rester mais au vu de ce que je lis Faro n'est pas très attrayant. Je compte louer une voiture.

Quels conseils pouvez vous me donner ? Que visiter sur cette durée ? Avez vous une idée de circuit ? Dans quelle ville loger ? Est il intéressant de ne rester que dans le sud ou par exemple ça vaut le coup de faire quelques jours en plus à Lisbonne ?

En octobre nous faisons une croisière de 12 jours sur le Costa Favolosa. Ce sera notre troisième croisière mais la première avec Costa. Nous avons pris le forfait boissons Piu Gusto et aimerions vos retours d'expérience, notamment sur les bars où nous pouvons l'utiliser , leur localisation, ponts..ainsi que le bar à l'ambiance un peu plus feutrée où déguster après le repas du soir un alcool en écoutant de la musique.

En pleine préparation de notre 3eme visite de l'Australie: ce sera cette fois-ci de Darwin à Perth. Au vue des prix des 4x4, hélas cela se fera en van aménagé, à moins que vous n ayez un bon plan!

Nous arrivons à Darwin le 18 septembre et repartirons de Perth le 14 avril ce qui nous laisse 26/27 jours sur place.

Alors, sans pouvoir faire les kimberleys (hélas!!!) - je lis que certaines choses sont tout de meme accessibles en van (comme Emma Gorge, Argyle, Bungle Bungle, Derby) les connaisseurs qu en pensez vous? -, il nous faudra aussi faire l'impasse sur le Francois Perron NP. Les autres sites sont tous accessibles ou presque ensuite par des routes +/- goudronnées, vrai?

Le circuit habituel Litchfeld, Kakadu, Broome, Karijini, Cape Range, Exmouth, Kalbari, Pinnacles, Pemberton... en 26 jours ca nous laisse le temps de profiter et d'en faire plus mais quoi? Voir pour passer par Uluru???!! (ou favoriser l'avion), pousser vers Kalgoorlie en y faisant une boucle pour profiter du début de l Outback et des champs en fleurs à cette époque la?...

quant au "camping", sur la cote Est, difficile de dormir gratuitement malgré le wikicamp. Savez vous si l application est fiable? Ici dans l'ouest, Est-il facile de dormir dans le van aménagé ou mieux vaut il se tourner vers des campings payants?

Vols et van réserves ... j'adore tellement ce pays que j ai envie de tout y voir!!! lol

CA Y EST ! Mon prochain trip est booké ! Ce sera mon troisième voyage solitaire après le Chili 2018 et l'Argentine 2019. L'amour de ma vie ne souhaite plus réaliser des voyages avec autant de vol, donc ce sera solo comme Napoléon 😉.

Comme d'habitude mon agence locale préférée Sélectour a bossé pour moi, avec toujours autant de professionnalisme. Mon visa evisitor est dans la poche ! Le programme principal se déroulera comme suit : Décollage le 28 septembre vers Londres. Puis Londres Sydney avec escale technique à Singapour. Au diable les varices (l'avarice), réservation d'un siège en sortie de secours donc place pour les gambettes. Enfin Sydney Alice Springs atterrissage le 30 septembre. Ouffffff. Je récupère le Toyota Landcruiser Apollo avec tente de toit Overland (forfait 18000 km, rachat de franchise), et je me poserai à Alice pour récupérer. Je pense acheter une sim et du crédit, pour les contacts urgents et/ou importants, mon smartphone a deux emplacements sim. De là je pense écumer le East McDonnel pendant deux/trois jours avant d'attaquer le West McDonnel par Namatjira Dr puis Larapinta Dr, passer par Wakkartha Kings Canyon, descendre sur Uluru et Kata Tjuta pour revenir à Alice Springs. Je prends toute info sur ce parcours (des idées, des balades, toussa 😊) je pense faire ça en deux semaines tranquillou, j'ai le temps !

Ensuite remontée vers le nord direction Darwin par Stuart Hwy, je ferai un stop à Gemtree. Nature Gap, Devils Marble, puis Kakadu. Une semaine ça devrait le faire.

Je pense ensuite balader dans Kakadu une voire deux semaines, j'ai besoin d'idées SVP 😊.

Ensuite ce sera Victoria Hwy tout doucement, les stops remarquables seront les bienvenus ! Broome, Port Headland, et surtout Coral Bay et Cape Range.

Vers Perth à part Wave Rock que je souhaite visiter j'ai pas encore creusé j'attends les premiers coups de pelle de votre part à tous.

Le retour en France est prévu le 29 novembre. Vol direct Perth Londres (17h00 et des burettes... 🤪).

Les contraintes de ce voyage seront de trouver des points électriques de recharge du matériel photo/vidéo, et aussi un peu de wifi pour communiquer avec la France. Pour le reste je pense faire des stops judicieux tous les trois jours pour des douches confortables, j'me comprends 😄. Je souhaite éviter les réservations des campings, pensez vous qu'à ces dates il devrait y avoir de la place ?

Voilà cela fait pas mal de choses à préparer. Pour info participative, je suis sur un budget de 9000 € actuellement, vols et location avec rachat de franchise pour le véhicule. Pour le reste, je pars avec mon Akubra Coolabah acheté en 2011 au Queesland 😏.
