J'ai déjà un peu prospecté là bas et à chaque fois je tombe sur des chauffeurs venant d'une agence de voyage avec leur itinéraire et leurs hotels pré-choisis Je préfere un chauffeur indépendant avec lequel je puisse être libre de mes choix

Nous projetons de partir avec nos deux filles au Costa Rica en avril 2005 ; elles auront 5 et 3 ans. Est-ce raisonnable ? Au point de vue hygiène et sécurité. Nous pensons louer une voiture et nous arrêter au grès de notre fantaisie sans réserver d'hôtels.

moi je suis une personne pas difficile dans la nourriture et j'aime bien essayer. ce qui me desole son les restaurents qui se dit d'un autre pays et qui servent de la nourriture de leurs pays mais americaniser (ou canadianiser Wow le beau mot)

c'est soit panne ou servis avec des frites. je comprends qu'ils faut qu'ils vendent leurs plats et faut qu'ils fassent la cuisine au gout du pays ou ils son. mais je pense que s'ils feraient de la cuisine comme chez eux et bien le monde s'habituraient et changerais dans les plat qu'ils commanderaient.

j'ai vraiment hate de faire mon tour du monde pour enfin gouter la nourriture de chaque pays.

Je compte partir un mois, et descendre en van avec une copine. J'en entends des vertes et des pas mures, qu'il s'agisse de sécurité lorsqu'on est que des gazelles ou de soucis technico-mecaniques pour un van sur les routes marocaines...

Je ne sais pas bien non plus quel budget est à envisager, s'il est facile de revendre des camionnettes sur place... et tant d'autres détails qui m'echappent !

Nous sommes partis en République Dominicaine le 1er mars avec Star air line.Nous avons été bloqué sur Paris pendant 21 heures et logé a l'hotel IBIS 2* prés de l'aeroport mais loin de tout .La compagnie a tout pris a son compte le repas de midi du soir et le petit dejeuné le lendemain.en fait l'avion a eu probleme technique sur punta cana la compagnie a du envoyer des techniciens et la piece sur place afin de proceder aux reparations puis une fois de retour sur paris des mécanos ont revu la panne qui se située sous le reacteur droit de l'appareil.le soir à l'ibis un responsable de star air line est venu nous informer du retard et ce cers 21 h alors que nous devions partir vers 15 h.il nous affirmer que le départ aurait lieu le lendemain vers 11h30.en fait nous sommes partis vers 13h30 et le voyage s'est tres bien passé sans aucun incident.Star air line a été tres professionnel je pense quant au problème technique et tres prudent mais il aurait pu nous loger dans un hotel un peu plus select que l'ibis.par contre nous avons eté deçu du tour opérateur a savoir ( VACANCES AIR TRANSAT) qui ne nous ont jamais contacté alors que mon agence de voyage leur avait laissé mes coordonnées.je suis tres mécontent de ce tour opérateur et je me charge de leur faire de la pub

Juste retour des choses, après avoir longuement lu et questionné ceux qui revenaient de RD et qui m'ont permis de faire mon choix, je me dois aujourd'hui de vous faire part de mon séjour au Dominicus Palace :

Le vol : Air France en 747 avec une frayeur 20 min après le décollage qd le pilote nous annonce d'une voix grave une panne sur le circuit hydraulique de l'avion qui nous impose un demi-tour d'urgence sur Roissy avec le largage du kérozène pour pouvoir atterrir. Avec la psychose égyptienne je peux vous dire que la panique monte vite à bord.

6 heures plus tard une fois la réparation faite et le plein refait nous repartons.

Arrivée à Punta Cana 30° c et sous la pluie. Là un taxi dont j'avais trouvé le nom de compagnie sur internet (Rafael DASILVA trouvé sur Webdominicana) nous attendait et nous a amené en 1h15 à Bayahibé.

La conduite est "dominicaine" mieux vaut être en voiture qu'en scooter. Le mieux c'est de fermer les yeux et tout se passe bien.

Arrivée au Dominicus Palace : check in rapide pas de problème de surbooking pour notre part.

Chambre sans vue mer, avec petite terrasse, sans luxe quelques moisissures au plafond mais rien de dramatique.

Lendemain matin temps couvert pas de soleil : déception.

Les petits déjeuners : très variés : céréales, omelettes faites devant vous selon vos choix d'accompagnement, pancake faits à la minutes, jus de fruits faits sur place, salades, fromages, yaourts, ...le top y compris le service irréprochable.

Les déjeuners en self : très variés aussi, pizza, plats en sauces, grillades, spécialités allégées, sodas et jus de fruits à volonté, ainsi que bière et vin (mais vin imbuvable).

Les dîners tout aussi variés : Variantes dans les restos sur résa des 8h le matin au guest service.

Nous avons fait le roca grill et le bambu mais rien d'extraordinaire par rapport au self.

Plage : tout simplement superbe eau turquoise calme, sans algues. Sable fin (plus fin sur la plage du palace qu'à celle du beach) transat en nombre suffisant mais peu confortables.

Les récifs de coraux ponctuent le sol de sable blanc et l'on s'y trouve comme dans un aquarium tropical grandeur nature.

La plage du beach est à mon sens plus attirante encore car elle forme une anse si bien que l'on oublie l'alignement avec les autres complexes (ibéro ...), plus de palmiers sur la plage, proximité immédiate du bar avec sandwich à toute heure.

Animation : sans arrêt sans être trop envahissant : les dominicains sollicitent mais à mon goût n'exagèrent pas.

Les spectacles : pas vu car enfants de 7 et 4 ANS trop petits pour tenir aussi tard.

Kid club : l'animatrice est sympa et paraît compétente par comtre évitez le baby sitting nous avons vu une nounou dominicaine oublier un enfant qu'elle gardait au milieu de la route !!

Les langoustes : par l'ombre d'une au palace nous sommes allés la manger chez le Lyonnais juste en face : 12€ la livre à cette époque mais cela doit varier selon rareté, très bon accueil et langouste très bien cuisinée.

Les cigares chez fine cigare chez philippe et gaétan juste à côté de l'hotel : les seuls vrais sur bayahibé avec humidificateur et conseil en prime, moins cher qu'en france sans plus. Pour vraiment moins cher eh bien fumez du foin ou de la banane en vous en proposera à tout coin de rue ou sur la plage.

Excursions : catalina et saona prise dans la rue face à l'hotel chel bulton (négo possible) :

Catalina moyen, saona inoubliable à faire absolument.

Compte tenu des commentaires de certains qui venaient de juan dolio, boca chica ou meme punta cana, bayahibé semble proposer le plus beau paysage de la rd et la mer la plus belle.

Voila en gros ce qui fut pour moi un voyage parfait. Je reviendrai en rd et j'irai les yeux fermés au Beach cette fois.

Je souhaite louer une bécanne à Goa durant deux semaines. Au mieux une Bullet (Entfield 350), sinon, dans le pire des cas, un scooter.

Qui aurait un bon plan de location pour du matos fiable chez un loueur correct ?

je pars en Inde du sud bientot (02 fev) et je fais un circuit classique en 4 semaines de Madras à Bombay.

Pour la liaison Goa-Bombay, j'ai vu qu'une nouvelle compagnie avait mis en service depuis le 29 déc une liaison Goa-Bombay en catamaran.

Y a-t'il quelqu'un qui l'aurait testé ??? Quel serait votre conseil train ou catamaran ???

Je suis partie avec dégriftour à Agadir pendant une semaine à l'hôtel Amadil Beach. nous avons payé 260 euros la semaine en demi pension, mais nous n'avons pas été déçus pour les mauvaises surprises !

Nous somme partis à quatre.

Le beau temps était là, mais en ce qui concerne l'hôtel il était en travaux !

Nous avons été derangé par le bruit toute la semaine, mauvaise insonorisation dans les chambres, panne générale d'éléctricité pendant deux heures, la piscine n'était pas chauffée, trous dans la chambre, fils éléctriques pendants dans la salle de bain, soirée orientale sans danseuse orientale...

Pour les détails pour ceux qui partent bientôt, à la demande je pourrai vous faire un résumé !

Je pars en Novembre pour un tour de 6 mois en Asie en commençant par le Népal (tour des Annapurnas - 21 jours), puis l'Inde, la Birmanie et finir par la Thailande.

Pour ce voyage, je viens de faire l'acquisition d'un appareil numérique 4 millions de pxl, avec batteries au lithium. J'ai choisi de prendre un tel appareil car il est beaucoup plus compact et résistant que celui que j'avais avant, un 6 millions de pxl, relativement encombrant, fonctionnant avec 4 piles crayon, se déchargeant relativement vite...

Ma crainte est la suivante : est-il facile de recharger les batteries dans ces pays ?? Et pendant le trek, dans les lodges, est-ce possible ? Je n'ai pas envie de me retrouver en panne de batterie après 7 jours dans les Annapurnas... Je compte prendre 3 batteries lithium avec moi, afin d'en avoir toujours au moins une pleinement chargée, mais encore faut-il que je puisse les recharger de temps en temps !

on part en Octobre pour le Pérou et la Bolivie; on aimerait des infos sur les expeditions dans le salar d'Uyuni : 1, 2 jours ou plus, prix, conditions ? Et aussi sur les missions de Santa Cruz: ca vaut le coup d'y aller pour les 20 h de car aller retour ? Et bien sur adresses et conseils bienvenus.

J'envisage d'acheter un appareil photo numérique pour les voyages. Après avoir bien réfléchi entre les avantages et les inconvénients du numérique et de l'argentique, le numérique correspond à mes besoins. Donc, je recherche un appareil à un prix correct (~300€), avec zoom optique une capacité correcte en résolution, mais surtout quelque chose de robuste et à prise instantannée (pas le genre de trucs qui prend la photo 15 secondes après qu'on ait appuyé sur le déclencheur). J'ai acheté l'année dernière un appareil argentique compact, mais il n'a pas supporté le dur traitement que je lui fais subir. Le zoom est tombé en panne. Je ne l'ai pas fait réparé, ça m'aurait coûté plus cher que le prix d'achat. Bon, je reconnais que je ne suis pas du genre très soigneux, mais à voir la fabrication actuelle en numérique, j'ai peur que ce genre d'appareil ne soit trop fragile, et soit destinés à faire de la photo 'familiale'. Et les conditions rencontrées en vaoyages ne sont pas des plus favorables, sable du désert ou ambiance tropicale... Bref, je voudrais quelque chose de robuste et qui ne craint pas trop l'humidité. Est-ce que quelqu'un aurait une idée d'un appareil à un prix raisonnable dans ce genre de euh... critères?

Je sais, c'est pas bien de faire ça, c'est malsain, parce qu'on a tous suffisamment envie de se barrer, mais c'est plus fort que nous, n'est-ce pas? J'ouvre, avec l'Usage du Monde de Nicolas Bouvier. Entre 1951 et 1953, Nicolas Bouvier est parti avec un ami peintre (Thierry Vernet) en fiat facile à réparer qui tombe tout le temps en panne à travers l'Europe Balkanique, puis la Turquie, le Kurdistan, l'Iran, l'Afganistan. Il raconte ses souvenirs et ses analyses d'une manière simple et très émouvante. Les rencontres et les moments insolites donnent particulièrement envie de vivre des instants similaires, même s'ils ont quand même pas mal galéré. Mais la galère est un véhicule comme un autre... Donc voilà, pour ceux qui n'aiment pas voyager, lisez ce bouquin, les autres, surtout, abstenez vous, sinon, vous serez irrémédiablement perdus, korzéam.

Hello, We’re back from this cruise. Boarding in Dunkirk: The doors opened around 12 PM. Since we were a bit early, I asked if my husband, who uses a walker, could wait inside instead of outside. I left him with the two suitcases and our two backpacks in the small hall while I parked the car in the reserved CFC parking lot for 10 € per day. The shuttle that was supposed to take people from the parking lot to the model pavilion was supposed to arrive in 5 minutes, but after 15 minutes, nothing. After waiting 15 minutes, I saw a man walking and asked if I could follow him. In 15 minutes, we arrived, and still no sign of the shuttle—it must have passed us. Arrived at the model pavilion. My husband had already checked in the suitcases with the help of a CFC staff member. The remaining formalities were completed quickly. We were on board by 12:15 PM. Headed to the buffet on deck 11 and waited in a lounge to access our cabin. At 2 PM, we discovered our balcony cabin on deck 9 at the rear: spacious with a large balcony compared to MSC/COSTA. Since we were at the rear, cabin 9202, there was always an issue with elevator number 4: "priority." Elevator number 2 stops at deck 10... and elevator number 3 was often out of order, leaving only number 1 for those with mobility issues to reach the buffet, especially for people who struggle with stairs. Note: only one child on board and lots of "gray hair." DAY 2: At sea. Lots of activities offered. Day 3: GOTHENBURG (Sweden). Sunny, 19°C at 11 AM. Excursion booked with CFC: Gothenburg and Haga for all. Interesting visit with a great guide. The HAGA district, in our opinion, is full of cobblestones and nothing special, not suitable for people using a cane or wheelchair. Elevator number 3 was out of order again. Day 4: Copenhagen. 15°C in the morning, showers in the afternoon. We didn’t book an excursion since we’d already stopped here with CFC in 2025, and based on advice from this forum, we took the hop-on/hop-off bus right in front of the ship. I still went to see the Little Mermaid again. No TV, but the elevator was fixed. DAY 5: At sea. Still no TV. DAY 6: GDANSK (Poland). 15°C, rain all day. There’s a shuttle to get to the city center. We took the excursion: Panorama of Gdansk. The guide left us at the entrance of the city center for 45 minutes, telling us what to visit. Meet-up for the rest of the tour at 3 PM. The bus left at 3:15 PM to cover 10 km to see St. Mary’s Cathedral. We arrived at 4:16 PM... The guide said there are often traffic jams in that direction. We had 10 minutes on site before heading to see the lighthouse and the Westerplatte monument, where we also had 10 minutes. Many of us wondered why we didn’t do the tour in the opposite direction since they knew there would be traffic... I went to reception to complain about the organization. The staff member read me the program: we were supposed to start with the lighthouse, then go to the cathedral and stay for 30 minutes before heading to the center of Gdansk for a short guided walk with some free time to buy souvenirs, etc. The guide did the complete opposite of what was planned and didn’t even give us a guided tour—just dropped us off in the city... DAY 7: Bornholm Island (Denmark). 14°C, a few sunny spells. We saw in the excursions that there was a walking tour of RØNNE. So, like many others, we explored on our own. There was a small orchestra welcoming us at the port and two people with city maps. We took the shuttle to leave the port—it ran every 15 minutes. The tourist office was next to the "shuttle bus." A pleasant visit at our own pace. DAY 8: KIEL (Germany). 18–23°C, nice weather. We took the "Kiel for all" excursion. Great guide and interesting visits. The port is in the city, and in 10 minutes, we were in the city center by following a blue line on the ground from the port. Elevator 3 was stuck again... and the TV was back. DAY 9: At sea. Elevator 3 works. DAY 10: At sea. Elevator 3 is out of order again... DAY 11: Disembarkation in Dunkirk. Cabins had to be vacated by 7:30 AM. Buffet open until 9 AM. Elevator number 1 was "reserved," leaving only number 2, which doesn’t go up to deck 11... a problem for people with mobility issues who had to cross the entire deck 11 and try to use one of the four working elevators at the front, which were crowded. My opinion: Interesting stops. The onboard staff were always welcoming, smiling, and mostly French-speaking. Evening shows were better than in March/April 2025—better singers, dancers, and presenters, and the costumes were improved. I liked the "magician" shows less. There were three onboard lectures by a very cultured person, but they went off-topic and were too historical for my taste. I didn’t attend the other two; my husband went to the second but not the third. For this cruise, there was a bridge theme, but we’re not players or interested. We didn’t take a drink package on board—water, coffee, tea, and herbal teas were available.

We had a water leak in our cabin the night before disembarkation. We reported it, and after the technical staff came (with a translator who didn’t speak English), we were asked to leave the cabin for a while for repairs. We went to a lounge, and after 1.5 hours, I checked in at reception. The repair took longer than expected... we had to change cabins... not ideal the night before disembarkation. No balcony cabins were available, so we got an ocean-view cabin, 6075, with a bathtub (impossible for both of us to use). We packed our suitcases, took a shower in our cabin, and moved to the new one. Noise from chairs until 12:30 AM because the cabin was under a lounge, and constant ventilation noise in the hallway... sleep was hard to come by. Disembarkation: Well organized. We were helped with transporting the two suitcases and bags to the waiting room while I took the shuttle to get the car. Guylène

For our latest 3-week family trip (yes, the kids are growing up, and two of them are about to enter the working world), we’re heading to South America! For our first time on this continent, I had planned a classic 3-week loop in Peru.

But since we won’t be returning to this part of the world anytime soon, I thought: why not follow in the footsteps of Franck, aka Bibouns51, who, in 18 days, didn’t just stick to Peru but also added two of the planet’s most stunning landscapes to his itinerary... the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia and its neighbor, the fabulous Atacama Desert in northern Chile !!

So, I set about the tricky task of limiting the regions we’d visit in Peru to those we considered must-sees, to avoid rushing too much. The visit schedules were optimized, including several comfortable overnight buses that have the huge advantage of letting us hop between regions.

So, we’re off on a somewhat adventurous trip with three domestic flights (two on the first day and one on the last), two overnight buses for quick hops, several car rentals, the services of a few drivers to make the trip more comfortable, and even a tour operator for crossing the Salar...

Our main concern is altitude sickness, and we’re bringing Diamox, aspirin, etc., just in case.

Our second worry before departure was not even getting off the ground... Yes, for once, we’re leaving from France—Marseille, to be exact. The week before our departure, with the surprise air traffic controllers’ strike, I remembered why we usually prefer to leave from abroad, like Turin or Barcelona... In the end, it wasn’t the air traffic controllers who made us nervous but the early July wildfires that paralyzed the airport a few days before our departure. Fortunately, the fires were quickly brought under control, and on the big day, everything was smooth sailing!

Day 0 - 11/07: Destination Lima

Our first flight from Marseille went smoothly to our Iberia layover in Madrid.

In Madrid, just after getting off the plane around 8 PM, and as we were walking through the terminal, we got a rude awakening!!

We saw the word "Cancelled" next to our flight number on the display boards. Thinking it must be a glitch, we checked another screen, but the system was stubborn, and the same dreaded word appeared !

So, we headed to the Iberia counter, where an agent confirmed that our Friday evening flight was canceled and rescheduled for the next morning. The reason? A breakdown and no replacement plane, even though we were in Madrid, Iberia’s home base!

To make matters worse, I remembered our super-tight schedule, planned to the minute, with no buffer day in Lima. Since I’m a bit phobic of megacities and hadn’t found anything appealing in the Peruvian capital in our guidebooks, we’d planned to leave Lima as soon as possible for Cusco, the heart of the Sacred Valley, to spend our first day there.

Bad idea, because we already knew the 4-hour buffer wouldn’t be enough, and we’d miss the domestic flight, which was, of course, non-refundable and non-changeable. So, we had to call LATAM from Madrid to find another flight for Saturday evening and negotiate a rate to recover some of our initial outlay.

After an hour on the phone with customer service, several endless holds, and three failed attempts to dictate our credit card number over the phone to a Spaniard speaking English with a thick accent, we finally managed to confirm the transaction, securing our new flight tickets for a moderate extra cost of just 150 € total.

At first, we were pretty bummed about losing a day and incurring extra fees to reschedule the domestic flight, but then, when we learned from an Iberia customer service rep that we’d receive the max compensation of 600 € per traveler, we even ended up grinning... because 3000 € in refunds for only losing the first day in Cusco? We’d sign up for that 10 times over!!

Iberia then took care of us, putting us up in a hotel where we had dinner before a short 5-hour night and an early morning departure. I took the opportunity to improvise a quick day of sightseeing in Lima, focusing on the Barranco and Miraflores districts.

Hi everyone! I’ve booked flights to Phnom Penh for August 26 (no layover in the Emirates as a precaution...). We arrive on Sunday, August 2 in the morning and leave on August 19 around 9 PM (also from Phnom Penh). We’re a couple traveling with three kids aged 9 to 16. Among the many questions I have about our itinerary, a few are standing out: If we arrive in Phnom Penh exhausted, I imagine we’ll need to stay one night there before heading to Siem Reap... but how much time should we spend there to enjoy Angkor in good conditions? Then, Mondulkiri or Battambang? (Because I don’t want it to be a total rush, changing accommodation every two days and praying that bus transfers or private drivers go as planned...). Where does Tonlé Sap Lake fit into all this? And if we end with a beach stay: is Koh Rong a must, or is there another spot? Also, what about the return logistics: should we spend the night before our flight in Phnom Penh to be safe... or do we do everything on August 19... like taking a boat and then the road from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh, risking missing our flight if anything goes wrong? Introduction: For years, I’ve heard about Costa Rica, which seems like a country "made for me"—nature, not cities. I almost went in 2019, but a family issue made me cancel. Initially, I wanted to spend at least three weeks there, planning to go in our summer despite it being the rainy season. Then I realized what I wanted to do could fit into two weeks, so I ended up going in February. Plus, January’s weather was so awful that some sunshine should do me good. I found a flight at a decent price, but with two downsides. The first is that it leaves from Paris CDG, and the second is that it’s with Air France—a airline I’d sworn off after my misadventures with them back in 2008. We’ll see how it goes!

Hi everyone, Here’s a little story about what happened to me—I was supposed to go on a cruise on the CELEBRITY INFINITY on February 16th, but nothing went as planned 😕 We left for Athens on February 14th, had a good flight, and stayed at the same hotel as last year, the PHIDIAS PIRAEUS HOTEL, which we really liked. But this year, it was disappointing—no upgrade from BOOKING, so a smaller room and, above all, noisy because of a compressor sound.... Anyway, we arrived in the late afternoon, took a walk, and found a really nice restaurant in the pedestrian streets of Piraeus. The next day, the 15th, we maybe thought about going to the island of Aegina, but we got up a little too late, so we just went for a walk. We came back to the hotel for a break, then got ready for a massage I had booked online. I absentmindedly checked my phone… an email from CELEBRITY announcing the cancellation of the cruise!!! That’s a first for us—we were a little shocked by the news 😕 TO BE CONTINUED....

This afternoon I had a flight at 5:10 PM to Amsterdam from Nice (final destination: Berlin). I arrived at the airport a little before 3:00 PM and saw that the flight was now leaving at 6:30 PM. I went to the counter to point out that I wouldn’t have time to make my connection, and they told me I’d be spending the night in Amsterdam.

When the agent checked her computer, she saw that I’d been put on a flight with another airline and asked if I hadn’t received an email.

In the end, I had to change terminals and leave at 7:05 PM with Swiss Airlines, then Air Baltic.

Just to clarify, I checked in less than 24 hours ago for both KLM flights (Nice-Amsterdam and Amsterdam-Berlin) where I had seats assigned. I checked my emails carefully, and I was never notified!

Luckily, the Swiss Airlines flight left later—otherwise, at 3:00 PM, I wouldn’t have had time to check in (I have a checked bag), and I don’t know how I would’ve proven I never got an email. Also, thankfully, I went to the counter much earlier than planned for the 6:30 PM departure.

In the end, I was lucky because with KLM, I would’ve lost a whole day. And it’s a good thing I always travel for at least two full weeks because I’ve often lost a day due to delays—I wouldn’t do that for a week or a weekend getaway...

This is the first time this has happened to me, but there’s a first time for everything!
