je pars dans une semaine en Thaïlande pour la 1ere fois et je voulais saovoir si qlq avait un tuyau pour moi: je voudrais partir de Kanchanaburi pour aller vers le Sud (Baie de Phang Na - Krabi Phuket) A priori, je suis obligée de passer par BKK pour descendre ensuite...est ce que vous connaissez un trajet + direct ? Par ex en passant par Ratchaburi... Si vous avez fait ce même parcours, je suis preneuse de tuyaux et conseils en tous genres (où s'arrêter, jolies plages, hôtels...) Souhaitant naviguer d' île en île, savez vous si certaines de ces îles ont été durement touchées par le Tsunami: Surin, Similan, Kho Kai Hok, Phang Nga, Ko Rok Nok, Ko Lipe, Phi Phi, Butang, Langkawi, Penang.

samedi dernier je réserve un billet AR paris papeete à 1719 euros et reçoit la confirmation de commande par email pour un départ le vendredi 13 mai.

lundi, par sécurité je téléphone (0, 34 cts/min) durant 28 minutes (merci les parties de ping pong entre intervenants) pour avoir la confirmation en temps réel de ma commande = OK, on me donne le terminal aéroport, la compagnie ou mon billet sera retiré, etc...

donc tout va bien !

jeudi matin, je m'inquiète que mon compte ne soit pas débité, alors je téléphone, et là je suis sur le cul !

ils ont tout simplement annulé mon billet car le tarif de la compagnie à changé à la dernière minute alors que tout était OK ! j'explique à l'opérateur qu'il faut trouver une solution et que leurs problèmes ne sont pas les miens et que de toute façon je pars demain, je suis à 800 kms de mon domicile, mes billets de train sont réservés, etc...

Ils me répondent: il suffit de refaire une inscription !!! je suis dégouté, donc report du voyage d'au moins 15 jours en espérant ne pas encore me faire jeter à nouveau + augmentation substentielle du prix de base. le ton monte, je demande un responsable (qui comme par hasard s'est absenté), et au bout de 30 minutes de négociations et de services en services, on me raccroche au nez...

je tente le rappel à plusieurs reprises, et à chaque fois ça raccroche (payant bien entendu) après 1 minute, comme si mon numéro de tél était sur une liste rouge des clients à jeter !!!

j'avais choisi anyway à cause de leurs tarifs attractifs... désormais, je vais plutôt choisir la sécurité et la qualité de service !

je suis parti ce matin dans un cyber espace (en dépannage) pour trouver en urgence un billet.

Bonheur, je tente GO VOYAGE, moins cher (économie de 70 euros avec plus de services), disponibilité pour le samedi 14, et tarif inférieur !!!

à 11h25 je remplis le bordereau, valide, reçoit l'email de confirmation avec mon N° de tél, mais décide quand même de les rappeller en début d'après midi pour être certain de ...

quelle agréable surprise, 15 minutes après ma confirmation (11h41), je suis contacté spontanément par GO VOYAGE, qui me confirme tout, me demande si j'ai bien tous les documents et papiers nécessaires, etc...

Here’s my feedback after a recent trip to Ethiopia, organized with a local guide.

Despite a signed quote, months of prep exchanges (over eight months!), and phone calls right up to departure day, the guide didn’t honor the commitments we’d agreed on.

Haile Haftu FANUAILE, manager of the agency www.charmethiopiantours.com—who we’d organized everything with—didn’t meet us as promised when we arrived in Addis Ababa. Without any warning, he sent a different guide to accompany us for the entire trip (with a flimsy excuse).

Several parts of the signed quote weren’t respected:

– Services included in the quote but not provided on-site (meals, water), – Hotels we’d chosen, booked, and paid for were swapped for lower-category places, – Visits were canceled because the timing wasn’t calculated properly, – One stop on the itinerary was dropped without any reason or explanation.

We’d paid a deposit for domestic flights, with a promise to refund any overpayment. A month after returning, 150 € per person (there were three of us) still hasn’t been refunded.

I’m sharing this to warn fellow travelers about the importance of solid guarantees to ensure contracts are actually honored. Double-check everything before committing!

Hi everyone... I apologize in advance if some of my questions have already been answered on this forum—I didn’t have time to read through everything.

I’m planning a family trip to Thailand in July for 6 people: - 4 adults, 1 child aged 14, and 1 aged 9. We’ve started looking into travel agencies that specialize in the country and offer custom trips.

Our initial idea was a budget of 2500 € per person for a stay of around 14 days, including:

- 3/4 days in Bangkok (visiting temples, floating markets, Chinatown, river cruise, etc.) - Kanchanaburi - Ayutthaya - 3/4 days in Chiang Mai (elephant sanctuary, rice field visits, temples, etc.) - Then a domestic flight to finish the trip in Krabi for 3/4 days (free time + excursions to Koh Phi Phi and/or Phang Nga, for example).

I’d also have liked to visit Chiang Rai, Lopburi, and Sukhothai, but we’ll have to make some choices.

So, my question is: - Is it better to go through well-known agencies to plan our trip, or is it possible to use local agencies for visits with French-speaking guides (if needed) and book flights and hotels on our own?

Does a budget of 2500 € per person seem reasonable for this kind of classic itinerary?

I’ve received (or will receive) quotes from agencies like Evaneos, Tourlane, Havas, Sawa Discovery, Nomade Aventures, etc. They all seem very professional but offer rather high-end services.

If any of you have recommendations for local agencies, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Also, is it possible to organize this kind of trip to Thailand on your own?

I know I’m not being very original, but I really want to make this a fantastic vacation with the best tips possible to avoid cutting the trip short to fit my budget.

After a long travel hiatus, we’re (finally) back on the road for some getaways! Now with two kids in tow, we’re heading to Thailand for two weeks next February (a destination that’s stood us up twice before but seems perfect for our first big family trip).

We’d have loved to stay longer, but two weeks is already a great start and will be plenty enjoyable.

Key points: - Experience Thailand, not just live our usual routine in Thailand - Avoid crowds as much as possible, even though February will be busy - Not big city fans, so Bangkok (BKK) will be kept to a minimum - Focus on nature, the sea, forests, waterfalls, hiking, kayaking...

At this stage, here’s the rough itinerary I’m considering: - Arrival at 7 AM + a day in BKK

- DEPART for SURAT THANI (BUS) - Transfer + Khao Sok (overnight on the lake / in the trees)

- RETURN to Ko Samui - Transfer to Koh Pha Ngan or Koh Tao (snorkeling)

- RETURN to Khao Lak. While there: * Visit Ao Phang Nga Park by kayak * Excursion to caves / Ko Khao Phing Kan (the "007 beach" lol) * ALTERNATIVE = SIMILAN ISLANDS

- RETURN to KRABI or Koh Phi Phi * Visit Koh Hong or Koh Yao Yai

* Flight from SURAT THANI to BKK - If time left in BKK: - Explore BKK: Wat Pho / floating market / Maeklong Railway Market / Chinatown... - Or a day trip to Ayutthaya - Or a day at Erawan Waterfall (Haew Suwat) - Day +1 = Return to France

Questions I’m pondering: - Is this too ambitious? I think it might be... but since we’d rather see as much as possible than just lounge on a beach... - How to get around on this route? Bus or rental vehicle (which I’d prefer to avoid) - Are there any inconsistencies in the plan I’ve outlined? - Should I adjust any connections or prioritize differently? - Krabi vs. Koh Phi Phi? - Koh Hong vs. Koh Yao Yai?

We’ve booked the first night (using some leftover backpacking perks), but nothing else—so open to all ideas!

If you know a local agency that can offer advice (for a fee), that could work too, since the options feel endless...

Starting November 15th, I’ll be arriving in Thailand, and during my stay, I plan to visit the north, around the Chiang Mai area, then head south to the Krabi region. After Krabi, I’m planning to take an overnight train to Bangkok. I was wondering if there’s a train that leaves from Krabi or Trang, or if I absolutely have to go to Surat Thani? Also, which official website can I use to book my ticket?

Next, since I’ll be arriving at dawn in Bangkok, I’ve planned to spend 2 days in Kanchanaburi. What’s the most convenient way to get there—bus or train? And if you know any companies or websites, that’d be great.

So excited to be back on this forum of fellow travel enthusiasts to ask for advice about my upcoming two-week trip to Thailand in March 2026.

Given that it’ll be the start of the intense heat and burning season, I’m wondering about my itinerary, which would focus on the central/southern part of the country.

Ideally, I’d like a mix of relaxation in a nice setting, culture (temples or old palaces), and I’m keeping six days in Bangkok, which I love :)

I’m planning to get around by train, car (through an agency), or plane if it’s easier.

Option 1: HUA HIN – 3/4 days (day trips to PHETCHABURI + SAM ROI YOT + ARTISAN MARKETS) KANCHANABURI – 3/4 days NAKHON PATHOM – 1 day BANGKOK – 6 days

My doubts: -Will the sky be too hazy (from smoke) for good photos? -Will Kanchanaburi and its surroundings be less enchanting during this period (dry landscapes)?

Option 2: PHUKET (4 days): exploring the island + PHANG NGA Bay HUA HIN (3/4 days) BANGKOK (7 days)

My doubts: -How do I get from Phuket to Hua Hin? It seems like flying isn’t an option, and I’d have to take a long trip up the southern coast or return to Bangkok to catch the train. -Is Phuket even remotely pleasant during this ultra-touristy period? -Is Karon a good base for exploring Phuket?

Option 3: PHUKET KAO SOK SURAT THANI? BANGKOK

My doubts: -I’d like to add a destination with beautiful temples in this area, but maybe Surat Thani isn’t the best idea.

Option 4: SURAT THANI >> HUA HIN (6/7 days) BANGKOK

Doubts: -I’m worried this route might be too tiring if I have to move every two days.

I’m open to any tips—or even a completely different itinerary if you have other ideas.

I’m currently in Hoi An—I hadn’t set foot here for 8 years. The city has already changed a lot, with lots of construction, and even in the old town, along one side of the riverbank, there are huge residential buildings going up that take away some of the charm of this place. But the worst part is the overtourism—it’s impossible to walk across the famous bridge in the middle of the canal in the evening because it’s so packed with people. There’s also a new trend: massage parlors have opened in the old town and around the city. I was shocked—people call out to you or even grab your arm on the sidewalk, and it’s everywhere. Bangkok and Phuket might start shaking—Hanoi’s the same way.

Anyway, let’s talk about the dual pricing specifically for non-Vietnamese tourists. We went to a restaurant near our hotel last night, and they gave us an English menu—okay, fine! But I noticed the table next to us, where Vietnamese tourists had a different menu. Weird! I asked to see the same menu as my neighbors, but the waitress refused, saying it was in Vietnamese and we wouldn’t understand. I insisted, and she finally agreed. Surprise!!! The prices on the two menus were different, with the English one up to 50% more expensive. I asked why, and she got flustered, telling me to just order from the Vietnamese menu, which I translated with my phone to see the local prices. I mentioned this to the hotel this morning, and the receptionist told me to go to restaurants where prices are displayed at the entrance to avoid getting ripped off. I just bought fresh bread this morning, and it was the same thing—the little loaf costs 4000 dong for Vietnamese people and 5000 dong for non-Vietnamese. It’s not a huge difference, but this way of doing things isn’t right. At supermarkets like VinMart+, prices are displayed, so there’s no surprise or dual pricing there.

We’ll be applying for a retiree OA visa by September. For our part, we’ll head back to France for a bit and return a month BEFORE our current OA visa expires to renew it at immigration. We’ve emailed several immigration offices but haven’t gotten any responses. We’ve searched online for info but haven’t found anything. What we’re really interested in is knowing which documents they’ll ask for at the immigration office in Phang Nga, for example, for our renewal. Hi there, I’ve been visiting Thailand for about twenty years now. We’ve been there around 5-6 times, always spending 2-3 days in BKK and then heading to Koh Samui. This year, we wanted to explore the southeast coast of Thailand for a change—from Hua Hin down to Surat Thani. We were strongly advised against going any further south.

However, we noticed that the beaches in Hua Hin aren’t exactly stunning, and the further south you go, the more beautiful they get—white, fine sand like in Samui. Do you have any recommendations for gorgeous beaches along this coast? Thanks!

Daytime train to Surat Thani – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Pick up the rental car and head to Khao Sok – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Ko Kho Khao – 3 nights – relaxation (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Phang Nga Bay – 1 night (any base recommendations?)

Excursion in the bay, then drive to Krabi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations) or any other spot with beautiful, quiet beaches that you might know?

Return to Surat Thani – overnight train to Bangkok, then Ayutthaya (any hotel recommendations?)

Visit the site and transfer to the airport – sniff, time to head back!

If you have other suggestions, keeping in mind the trip’s vibe: beach time without crowds or entertainment, a bit of nature, a bit of culture, no stress... No domestic flights and charming accommodations (not at 150 € per night, even though the budget is reasonable!)

Hi everyone, I know my post might sound a bit repetitive with the questions asked regularly on this forum, but I’m feeling a little lost and thought I’d still ask for your help. Here’s my situation: I’m traveling to Thailand with my wife and 12-year-old son during the February 2025 school holidays. We’ll be spending 12 nights in the country. So far, I only have our flight tickets to and from Phuket. Now, I need to plan an itinerary that lets us discover beautiful places and the culture of this country. I’d like to stay by the sea, with stunning fine-sand beaches and breathtaking landscapes in areas that aren’t too urban, but also be able to see some beautiful monuments, typical villages, and wildlife not too far away. That said, I don’t want to be lost deep in the jungle either—I’d like a bit of atmosphere in the evenings (no nightclubs, but rather nice bars with music). I’ve done some research and here’s a first draft of what I might do:

Spend my first 3 nights in the suburbs of Phuket to explore the city and the province more broadly, Then head to Ko Yao Noi for 2 nights to discover the charms of Phang Nga Bay, Next, fly from Krabi to spend 4 nights on Koh Samui (maybe with a little excursion to Ko Pha Ngan?), Then fly back to Krabi to reach Koh Phi Phi for 2 nights, Finally, return to the Phuket area for my last night in Thailand to be close for my flight the next day.

The idea is to explore several places without having to pack and unpack every day, and to avoid spending hours on transport every day. What do you think? Do the places seem relevant? If so, does the number of nights seem appropriate? Thanks in advance for your help, Best regards, Lionel

J'étais plutôt jusqu'ici un inconditionnel d'Asie du sud Est. 😏 Sauf un périple de 5 semaines au Mexique l'an dernier je découvre carrément l’Amérique. Tout est dans le titre :) Je pars seul du 3 au 17 mars 2020 en Thaïlande, et ayant déjà fait un peu le sud (Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Koh Tao, Koh Pha Ngan, Patong, Phi-phi) j'aimerais découvrir le nord, que j'espère plus "nature" et sauvage, authentique... et bien entendu moins saturé.

Pour informations je suis plutôt amateur de voyage en sac à dos, simple et sans chichi, ayant déjà fait en mode assez roots (avec ma copine cette fois) le Vietnam, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Pérou, et Thaïlande du sud donc .. :)

Auriez-vous des conseils pour visiter le nord ? des bons plans, activités ou lieux à absolument voir ? Aussi : > possible de se baigner dans le coin ? (sans chercher les plages paradisiaques du sud) > des trek sympa ? sur plusieurs jours ? > des parc nationaux ou autres sanctuaires animaliers ?

Avez-vous également une idée du budget environ ? (le billet à ce jour est à 470€ environ) je pense les acheter d'ici 2 jours. Je pense prévoir environ 1500€ tout compris, mais à voir selon vos avis.

Nous voulons faire Ranong Khura Buri en bus pour nous rendre ensuite aux iles surin pour 2 nuits, autour du 5 février. Je n 'arrive pas a trouver des infos sur ces bus, nous serons a Kohpayam mais impossible de partir de la bas, puis de retourner a Khura Buri. Nous repartons ensuite pour le lac de Kao Sok ...

De retour du Laos avec un vol sur Saïgon il me restera 3 ,4 ou 5 jours pour faire un tour dans le delta du Mékong . ( Aller retour sur Saïgon ) J'aimerais m'arrêter dans les lieux que vous pensez intéressants et parcourir, de- ci , de-là quand c'est possible, la campagne à vélo, loger si possible chez l'habitant ( "maison d'hôtes" homestays.) voir des marchés etc......Si vous avez un itinéraire à me suggérer des lieux à ne pas manquer et des adresses de homestays j'attends vos conseils. PS: J'utiliserai les transports en commun, bus et taxis...

je pars au Vietnam début décembre pour un mois , je souhaitais attendre sur Phu quoc ma famille et amis qui arrivent qu'a partir du 21 décembre merci de me donner votre avis sur cette ile , logement , tranquille ou pas , et surtout bien routard , ainsi que des infos pratique et bonnes adresses j'y vais pour courir quasi chaque matin , et pour du repos avant la fête entre amis
