Après une ballade de 5/6 mois en Inde, nous (Pat & Nath) irons vers la Birmanie (vers Avril/Mai 2006) pour passer ensuite vers la Thailande (Mai/Juin 2006).

Que conseillez vous concernant le passage entre la l'Inde et la Birmanie ? Train, avion, ... Pas trop galère au niveau de la sortie de l'Inde (nous y arriverons sans billet retour, ...évidemment !) douanes et polices ?

Nous preparons un trip en velo de 3 semaines en Mongolie interieure... et impossible de trouver des infos pratiques aussi bien sur les routes accessibles, les points d'eau, les lieux. Nous sommes attirees par les etendues, les endroits sauvages, la rencontre de nomades... Nous dormirons sous tente bien sur! Nous prevoyons de faire entre 50 et 70 km par jours n'ayant aucune experience en cyclotourisme.

Notre depart approche a grand pas, depart prevu le 15 juin. Nous sommes actuellement a Shanghai (etudiantes) et pensons rejoindre Beijing, acheter le velo la-bas et puis prendre un train avec tout le materiel. Nous savons a peu pres ce que nous allons emporter (le minimum!!!) mais des questions restent en suspend. Comme par exemple la necessite ou non d'un rechaud?? Et puis sur des infos pratiques : bonnes adresses pour se fournir le materiels necessaires (sacoches, et autres), sur les routes, les endroits conseilles (itineraires), sur les ravitaillements en eau...

J'attend avec impatience vos conseils!!!!!

Je tiens à vous faire part de ma mésaventure, car mieux vaut etre prévenu...

Il y a quelques jours, je rallume mon Canon A95 pour faire des photos supplementaires, l'écran indique alors "erreur carte mémoire" - aucune images.. les images prises juste avant : envollées, disparues ! et impossible d'utiliser l'appareil... Je remercie le ciel pour que cela ne me sois pas arrivé en voyage...

le lendemain chez le photographe je comprends alors mon erreur : j'avais pris l'habitude de décharger les photos sur le PC, vider la corbeille à la souris et basta ! Il faut en fait FORMATER la carte avec l'apn à chaque fois pour éviter ce genre d'erreur.

ceux qui savent trouveront sans doute idiot ma mise en guarde mais je m'adresse surtout à ceux qui pourrait faire comme moi, car sur la notice de l'apn ce n'est pas expliqué assez clairement je trouve... on croit que ça marche jusqu'au jour où...😕

Il y a une solution alternative à la question du stockage, c´est le transfert des photos.

Au lieu de disposer d´un disque dur ou d´une gravure CD, que l´on peut perdre ou se faire voler, la soluce est de trouver un cibercafé oú décharger ses photos, et les partager avec quelqu´un au pays, ou tout son groupe d´amis ( au passage, on informe qu´on est bien vivant, et ou on se trouve ).

Le programme Picasa2 ( gratuit, édité par Google ) permet à la fois de chater avec un correspondant, et à travers l´interface Hello, de refiler toutes les photos déchargées de sa carte mémoire.

J´avoue que j´ai pas encore testé, mais cela semble prometteur. En s´assurant bien sur que la personne qui recollecte les photos soit suffisament consciencieuse pour faire une ou plusieurs sauvegardes sur CD/DVD.

Je pars faire toute seule le tour de l'Amérique Latine pendant un an et je souhaiterai m'équiper d'un téléphone mobile et mon budget reste assez limité.

Je sais qu'il faut un mobile au minimum tribande voire "around the world".Et hors forfait opérateur, ils sont hors de prix ici.

En termes de communication, les cartes prépayées internationales semblent être la solution et une solution pas trop chère.

Mais oh grand voyageurs, je souhaitais avoir votre avis. Est ce que vous avez déjà testé ce système de carte ? connaissez-vous un autre moyen peu onéreux ?

Pensez-vous que ce serait moins cher de me procurer un mobile sur place ? ou par un autre biais ?

Alors pour se faire, j'ai opté pour une croisière-séjour de 11 jours. Le programme des sites à visiter me semble tres interessant c'est pour cela que j'ai choisi cette formule. Je voulais traverser la Birmanie vers le Bangladesh. Dans aucun quide ou site internet il est question d'un point de passage. Je n'ai trouvée que des tonnes d'info sur les relation entre la birmanie et la thailande. J'ai finalement changée de route. Vraiment dommage d'abandonner la Birmanie 😕

Pourtant, je n'ai trouver nul part mention qu'il n'y avait pas de passage entre ces deux pays. Rien. En fait, si je devais me fier à l'information disponible sur les relations entre ces deux voisins je pourrais croire qu'ils ne sont pas situer sur la meme planète!!! Quelqu'un peux m'expliquer? Tout d'abord il me semble que le prix est interessant mais je voudrais savoir ce que vous en pensez vous?

Je voudrais savoir si qqu'un serait déjà passé par cette compagnie et s'il n'a pas eu de soucis quels qu'ils soient?

Durant les 2 mois que j'ai prévu en Inde, je souhaite bien évidemment me rendre à Varanasi... Cependant, il semble que c'est une ville assez "impressionnante", forte en terme de sensations, déroutante et merveilleuse à la fois.

Sachant que je n'ai jamais été en Inde auparavant (mais que je viendrai de passer 1 mois au Népal), vaut-il mieux (tant d'un point de vue émotionnel que organisationnel) que je place mon séjour à Varanasi tout en début de voyage - après une semaine de Delhi et Agra, train pour Varanasi -, ou à la fin du deuxième mois - en train depuis Calcutta, après avoir fait le Sud de l'Inde ?

After a pretty disastrous weather-wise trip to Gran Canaria, we’re hoping this time the sun will shine in Puglia. It’s not a sure thing, though—the weather’s been awful all over Europe in early May.

Saturday, May 16: This time we’re flying out of Charleroi (Brussels South): the ticket prices, flight times, and proximity all worked for us. The airport (Ryanair) was recently renovated... but it’s still not very well organized. There are hardly any seats in the boarding areas, and... the restrooms cost money!!! The flight goes smoothly, though, and we land in Bari a little late.

We quickly pick up our rental car, a very local-looking Pandina (even more so than the Fiat 500 in this region), and hit the Italian roads... and their unique driving quirks (like the fact that the countless road signs along the streets and in towns are purely decorative 😏, and that Italian cars don’t have turn signals 😮... except for rental cars).

About an hour later, we arrive at our first accommodation, right in the middle of the countryside near Monopoli. The owner isn’t there, but they’ve left us a ton of info via messages and even turned on the space heater, which is a nice touch. We explore the property:

Here’s the prompt I gave:

For our latest 3-week family trip (yes, the kids are growing up, and two of them are about to enter the working world), we’re heading to South America! For our first time on this continent, I had planned a classic 3-week loop in Peru.

But since we won’t be returning to this part of the world anytime soon, I thought: why not follow in the footsteps of Franck, aka Bibouns51, who, in 18 days, didn’t just stick to Peru but also added two of the planet’s most stunning landscapes to his itinerary... the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia and its neighbor, the fabulous Atacama Desert in northern Chile !!

So, I set about the tricky task of limiting the regions we’d visit in Peru to those we considered must-sees, to avoid rushing too much. The visit schedules were optimized, including several comfortable overnight buses that have the huge advantage of letting us hop between regions.

So, we’re off on a somewhat adventurous trip with three domestic flights (two on the first day and one on the last), two overnight buses for quick hops, several car rentals, the services of a few drivers to make the trip more comfortable, and even a tour operator for crossing the Salar...

Our main concern is altitude sickness, and we’re bringing Diamox, aspirin, etc., just in case.

Our second worry before departure was not even getting off the ground... Yes, for once, we’re leaving from France—Marseille, to be exact. The week before our departure, with the surprise air traffic controllers’ strike, I remembered why we usually prefer to leave from abroad, like Turin or Barcelona... Day 0 - 11/07: Destination Lima

Our first flight from Marseille went smoothly to our Iberia layover in Madrid.

In Madrid, just after getting off the plane around 8 PM, and as we were walking through the terminal, we got a rude awakening!!

We saw the word "Cancelled" next to our flight number on the display boards. Thinking it must be a glitch, we checked another screen, but the system was stubborn, and the same dreaded word appeared !

So, we headed to the Iberia counter, where an agent confirmed that our Friday evening flight was canceled and rescheduled for the next morning. The reason? A breakdown and no replacement plane, even though we were in Madrid, Iberia’s home base!

To make matters worse, I remembered our super-tight schedule, planned to the minute, with no buffer day in Lima. Since I’m a bit phobic of megacities and hadn’t found anything appealing in the Peruvian capital in our guidebooks, we’d planned to leave Lima as soon as possible for Cusco, the heart of the Sacred Valley, to spend our first day there.

Bad idea, because we already knew the 4-hour buffer wouldn’t be enough, and we’d miss the domestic flight, which was, of course, non-refundable and non-changeable. So, we had to call LATAM from Madrid to find another flight for Saturday evening and negotiate a rate to recover some of our initial outlay.

After an hour on the phone with customer service, several endless holds, and three failed attempts to dictate our credit card number over the phone to a Spaniard speaking English with a thick accent, we finally managed to confirm the transaction, securing our new flight tickets for a moderate extra cost of just 150 € total.

At first, we were pretty bummed about losing a day and incurring extra fees to reschedule the domestic flight, but then, when we learned from an Iberia customer service rep that we’d receive the max compensation of 600 € per traveler, we even ended up grinning... because 3000 € in refunds for only losing the first day in Cusco? We’d sign up for that 10 times over!!

Iberia then took care of us, putting us up in a hotel where we had dinner before a short 5-hour night and an early morning departure. I took the opportunity to improvise a quick day of sightseeing in Lima, focusing on the Barranco and Miraflores districts.

Since 2025, foreigners (residents or not) must have a biometric profile in addition to a Gosuslugi profile to obtain SIM cards and open a bank account.

Administrative services are mostly centralized in MFCs, МФЦ (Multi-Functional Center), nicknamed "My Documents" Мои документы.

A non-resident foreigner can register with the pension fund, which provides a social security number, SNILS / СНИЛС. To do this, you must present your passport and a notarized translation at an MFC. The SNILS can be issued on the spot or within a maximum of five days. If not issued immediately, you receive a receipt, and the deadline is communicated by the administrative agent. You return to the MFC after the deadline to collect the certificate with the SNILS.

Once the SNILS is obtained, you revisit an MFC counter to register on the Gosuslugi portal. You must present your passport and notarized translation again, along with a phone number and email. The Gosuslugi portal authenticates users with three pieces of data: SNILS, email or phone number, and password. The agent creates the profile and completes the initial email and SMS confirmations on your phone.

After the Gosuslugi profile is active, you register on the biometric portal. If last year’s law centralization measures are fully implemented, you can do this at any MFC; otherwise, you go to a SBERBANK (or VTB) branch. Again, as always for foreigners, you must present your passport with its translation and show your open Gosuslugi profile on your phone. The employee records your voice (reading a series of numbers) and takes a photo of your face.

After that, you can go to a telecom agency to buy a SIM card. The staff will take your passport details with the translation and your Gosuslugi profile info. Then, they’ll take a photo with their webcam, which is verified by the online EBS biometric portal. However, procedures may vary depending on the provider (Megafon, MTS, Beeline), and some employees may not be familiar with the process.

Potential delays can be caused by network maintenance or slowdowns due to peaks in administrative activity.
