Actuellement sur Vancouver (en p.v.t), j'aimerais profiter de mes trois jours off pour visiter Seattle. Je compte m'y rendre avec le Greyhound bus. J'ai lu que la ville pouvait se faire a pied donc je pars a l'aventure n'ayant pratiquement aucune idee de quoi y faire, je veux dire quoi visiter. Je souhaiterais connaitre vos suggestions concernant une auberge de jeunesse pas chere, bien placee et agreable. La derniere que j'eusse frequente m'ayant laissee un souvenir amer, bien contente je serais de ne pas la renouveler!!! Pender Lodge pour fayoter un peu, dans LE quartier de Vancouver a eviter (East Hasting et East Pender), pres de chinatown.

Au travers de mes diverses questions, les habitués de VF ont pu deviner un voyage prochain au Cambodge... Seulement voilà, nous serons 8, de tranches d'âge différentes... (mais plutôt > 50) et pour la plupart habitués aux circuits.. nous disposons de 15 bons jours et je "drive" un peu le projet et m'oriente vers un produit "formaté" afin de satisfaire tout le monde. Après moult lectures et relectures d'offres diverses, j'ai fini par contacter des agences situées au Cambodge et qui apparemment proposent des trucs qui m'ont l'air bien sympa (et bien moins cher..) et en plus "customisables" car mine de rien j'ai conconcté un circuit perso (fruit de vos expériences à tous !!). Pensez vous qu'il y ait un risque quelconque d'embrouille ? Je me vois mal dire à nos potes, en arrivant à PP euh.... personne ne nous attend... (du coup voyage routard obligatoire hi hi !!)

Je cherche où il est assez intéressant de se poser à Pékin afin de ne pas être trop "loin de tout", de pouvoir faire quelques sorties en soirée (pas nécessairement bars mais plutôt des rues qui simplement restent animées)

A priori je vais me tourner vers une AJ proche du métro Chaoyangmen ou Dongsishitiaho, les prix ont l'air assez doux... Mais si quelqu'un a mieux à proposer... ^_^

C'est moche, j'en ai pas trouvé et quelqu'un d'entre vous doit surement connaître une musique traditionnellement indienne mélangée à de la "world music" hip-hop ou fusion dirons-nous.

Il y a quelques années, j'avais mater sur Canal+ (chaine française) deux frères ("Rizam & Wazam" ???) nous faisant démonstration de tablas et instruments traditionnels sur un fond world, de toute beauté. N'ai jamais retrouvé ni leur groupe, ni leur nom, et ni leur musique.

Encore plus traditionnel que Nitim Sawney, quelqu'un connaitrait-il ce goupe ou un autre pouvant nous faire frissonner ??

Nous pensons partir à Sulawesi ou Kalimantan en janvier et souhaitons surtout avoir la chance d'observer des bêbêtes (dans l'eau et dans la forêt). Il ya-t-il des parcs à conseiller ? des guides ? J'ai aussi lu que l'on pouvait faire des randos à cheval à Sulawesi ? La réserve de Tanjung Puting à Kalimantan est-elle accessible depuis Sulawesi en avion ? Est-elle interessante ? Attention, les voyageurs en quete d'authenticité risquent d'etre decu car il s'agit principalement de restos occidentaux ! Effectivement en tant qu'expat, une virée a shanghai est plus synonyme de steack frites que de riz cantonais... Mais bon, qui n'a jamais fantasmé sur une steack frite ou une bonne pizza au cours d'un long voyage hum? Selon le Yemen Times (#756, 19/21 juillet 2004), on peut maintenant avoir le visa pour le Yemen directement à l'aéroport de Sana'a ou dans d'autres points d'entrée au pays. Malheureusemernt l'article ne concréte pas les 30 nations pouvant se beneficier de la démarche. Salut à tous! Je me sent un peu néophyte à côté de vous tous. J'ai tjs rêvé de faire un tour du monde mais les choses n'ont pu se faire. En attendant je vais commencer par partir 1 mois en nouvelle zélande. Le but étant de faire le tour de l'île sud ou de l'île nord en vélo. C'est difficile de choisir entre les 2 alors si vous pouvez influer mon choix... De plus j'ai déjà tout le matos (vtt + remorque) et j'aimerai partir avec, alors si vous avez déjà pris l'avion avec votre matos j'attends vos commentaires. Merci à tous pour votre aide.

Je suis nouvelle sur ce forum que j'ai découvert suite à des recherches que j'ai effectuées pour un voyage que je veux entreprendre l'année prochaine. Je souhaite visiter les pays de l'Europe l'est puis prendre le transsibérien à Moscou, pour finalement "atterrir" en Chine où je compte faire une plus longue escale. Évidemment rien n'est planifié, mais je compte planifier au minimum, la durée du voyage étant indéterminée et la liberté totale. Par contre je n'ai absolument aucune connaissance de ces pays, je ne sais pas du tout si c'est facile de sortir des sentiers battus, si c'est dangereux, etc... Je voyage seule et en général avec le strict minimum, tente et kit camping dans le back pack, et également un minimum de ressources monétaires ;-) Ce qui me branche c l'Aventure!!! La destination finale de mon voyage à travers le Far East sera la Nouvelle-Zélande, alors si vous vous y connaissez aussi en mode de vie néozélandais, super!!

I’m reaching out with a question about which park to choose for a 3-day safari in Kenya.

After 20 days in Uganda, I’m meeting up with my dad for a 3-day safari (that works for him). We’ll be meeting in Nairobi and have a full day to travel to a park (preferably the farthest from Nairobi to avoid crowds?) and spend 4 nights there before heading back to the capital for our flight to France.

I’d love to hear your recommendations since I’ve read so many great tips on this forum.

India inaugurates the new Navi Mumbai International Airport and the final phase of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3—a major turning point for the country’s infrastructure. Mumbai, India’s economic capital, is entering a new era of modernization. The Indian government has officially inaugurated the Navi Mumbai International Airport, one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, along with the final phase of Metro Line 3, a key axis to ease congestion in the megacity. The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), located about 35 km from the city center, aims to eventually handle up to 60 million passengers per year. Built to reduce pressure on the already saturated Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport, it features ultra-modern facilities, sustainable design, and cutting-edge technologies for air traffic management and energy efficiency. At the same time, the completion of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3, connecting Colaba to Bandra-SEEPZ, marks a major advancement in urban mobility. This 33.5 km underground section will significantly reduce travel time and congestion in a city known for its chronic traffic jams. These two projects reflect the Indian government’s commitment to transforming Mumbai into a global hub, combining connectivity, sustainability, and economic development.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), a project two decades in the making, has finally come to fruition. Phase one of the airport was inaugurated Wednesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. Although the first phase, which includes Terminal 1 and Runway 1 with 10 bus gates and 29 aero bridges, has been inaugurated, flight operations will not begin immediately.

"Post-inauguration, the airport will be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for a security sweep, which could take 30 to 45 days. We also need to mobilize customs and immigration teams and complete end-to-end testing, which is a 45-60-day process," said Arun Bansal, CEO of Adani Airports Holdings Ltd, developer and operator of the NMIA, during a press briefing at the NMIA premises Monday. Even though an exact date hasn’t been announced, NMIA CEO Captain B V J K Sharma and Bansal said commercial flights are expected to begin in December 2025. Plans of major carriers Three major airlines—Air India, Akasa Air, and IndiGo—have already signed on to shift part of their operations to NMIA. Last month, Air India announced plans to start with 20 daily departures (40 air traffic movements) through Air India Express, connecting 15 Indian cities in the first phase. By mid-2026, it aims to scale up to 55 daily departures, including up to five international flights. IndiGo, which made its announcement in May, plans to operate 18 daily flights to more than 15 cities from the first day of commercial operations and intends to expand to 140 daily flights—30 of which will be international—within 18 months. In June, Akasa Air said it will start with 15 daily domestic flights, scaling up to over 300 domestic and 50 international flights a week within a few months. When asked which airline will operate the first flight, Bansal said, "We want all three airlines to be there on Day 1. It depends on who has the earliest slot that day, and the destination choice lies entirely with the airlines." Operations to begin with 12-hour window In the first month, flights will operate between 8 am and 8 pm, with the 12-hour window likely to be extended as operations stabilize. Although NMIA’s full capacity is 40 air traffic movements (ATMs) per hour, the initial phase will handle 10 ATMs—allowing 10 aircraft to land or take off every hour. Airlines are expected to announce routes and ticket sales soon. Touted as an international aviation hub, NMIA positions Mumbai alongside global twin-airport cities such as London, Dubai, and New York, and plans to launch both domestic and international operations from Day 1. Concession for international carriers When asked if international carriers will be given any concessions, Bansal said, "For international airlines, we will not charge them parking fees for the first year." The duo added that NMIA aims to reclaim Mumbai’s rightful place on the global aviation map. "For a decade… travelers didn’t have a choice—airlines couldn’t get additional slots (at the Mumbai airport), so traffic shifted to Delhi. We are course-correcting that with NMIA. It won’t happen overnight, but over the next five–seven years, you’ll see the change," said Bansal. He noted that Mumbai currently lacks direct flights to major destinations in Europe and the U.S., something NMIA hopes to change. "If you see east-to-west flights, Mumbai is a natural stop," added Sharma. As reported earlier, NMIA will eventually feature four terminals and two parallel runways, with a total capacity to handle up to 90 million passengers per annum (MPPA), compared to 20 MPPA in the first phase. In the long term, the airport aims to serve as a key transfer hub between the East and the West, enabling passengers from Southeast Asia to connect seamlessly to Europe and North America.

So, this theme isn’t exactly a "travel invitation," but coming up with a new one is quite a puzzle 😅. During February’s “white” theme discussion, we had pages of cats, so you should be inspired 😸. I won’t be restrictive—wild felines, domestic cats, and even those in zoos (though I’m not a fan) will be accepted. Plus, engravings, paintings, statues, or any other representations of felines fit the theme. The Sphinx is also welcome ;).



Practical details:

Participation: Each VF member can submit up to 3 photos, until Monday, August 25th at 11:59 PM Paris time. Each photo must be posted in a separate message, with its number (1, 2, or 3). Don’t forget to add a little explanation (comment, location, etc.).

Voting: Each VF member can vote for the 3 photos they consider the best, based on their own criteria and the theme.

Voting will take place from Tuesday, August 26th to Saturday, August 30th at 11:59 PM Paris time.

Hi there, We’re heading to California at the end of July for a road trip with our two kids, aged 7 and 9. Here’s our planned two-week itinerary: Los Angeles - San Diego - Palm Springs - Yosemite - Carmel and Big Sur - Santa Barbara - Los Angeles. We don’t want to go to San Francisco. Does this itinerary sound good to you? Any recommendations for accommodations, especially in Yosemite and Carmel?
