[31-10-2005] Quoi de neuf cet hiver : l’année du Brésil chez Star airlines. Pour Star aussi, c’est l’année du Brésil : tout l’hiver, Star airlines va relier Paris à Porto Seguro et Salvador de Bahia. Porto Seguro est une petite ville balnéaire du Nordeste peu connue des français. Son charme et ses plages en ont fait depuis de nombreuses années une destination incontournable des brésiliens, et c’est le Club Med, qui y a installé un superbe club, qui donne l’opportunité aux français de cette découverte. Bahia, elle, est une ville mythique : 365 églises, berceau du syncrétisme culturel, architecture sublime, saveurs culinaires inouïes, et mille autres aspects à (re)découvrir !

Allo, et oui je suis déjà dû pour repartir en vacances! Cette fois, j'aimerais retourner à playa del carmen mon endroit favoris. Est-ce que quelqu'un connait le resort "Real Playa Del Carmen"? non pas le grand porto real (j'ai déjà séjouné à cet hotel). Je ne connais pas le Real Playa Del Carmen et j'ai de la difficulté à trouver des commentaires sur cet hotel. merci! karlou

J’ai une période d’un mois à passer de mi janvier à mi février et j’envisage une boucle de Cordoba à Buenos Aires en passant par la Laguna Mar Chiquita, Santa Fe, Iguazu, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Porto Alegre, l’Uruguay et finalement Buenos Aires. Je n’ai aucune idée de ce qu’il y a d’intéressant à faire en Uruguay.

Pouvez vous me donner vos commentaires sur ce parcours et m’indiquez sur ce parcours les possibilités de faire du cheval, du VTT, de la rando dans des parcs voire, même du parapente.

Je pense passer 7 jours en Argentine, 15 au Brésil, 5-6 en Uruguay et 4-5 à Buenos Aires.

L'itinéraire est la suivante: Miami, Floride; San Juan, Porto Rico; Saint Thomas, Îles vierges américaines; St-Maarten, Pays-Bas; Miami, Floride

Comment est le service, la nourriture et tout ce qui est à notre disposition (piscine, spa, cinéma, spectacle, bar et discothèque). Nous sommes un couple dans le début quarantaine, sommes-nous trop jeunes pour ce genre de voyage?

Est-ce vrai qu'il y beaucoup de d'argent à débourser à bord du bateau (boisson, cinéma, quelques restaurant). En ce qui a trait au pourboire, comment cela fonctionne?

De plus, est-il vrai que nous devons avoir veston, cravate et robe du soir pour les soupers?

Ma copine et moi sommes etudiants au bresil, et on compte traverser la Bolivie, le Perou puis rejoindre le nordest du Brasil.

Notre probleme est la liaison Perou/Brasil, sachant qu'on voudrait eviter l'avion qui est cher.

Du Perou on pense passer soit par Iquitos pour rejoindre Manaus par le fleuve, soit tenter de rejoindre Porto Velho, par la route.

Savez vous si atteindre Iquitos est difficile, et de même pour Porto Velho.

Voilà, nous sommes deux lyonnaises de 20 et 21 ans et nous aimerions dès que nous aurons réunis l'argent nécessaire partir au Brésil. Notre itinéraire est à peu près dessiné mais nous ne voulons surtout pas partir en voyage pré-organisé ...

Il y a des villes que nous voulons absolument visitées ( Rio de Janeiro, Sao paulo, Porto Alegre, Bandeirantes...) .. sinon le reste appartiendra à l'aventure..

Je suis espagnole et je parle couramment la langue, mais je n'est que quelques notions du portugais.

Nous n'avons cependant aucunes experiences dans ce genre de voyages. Et si certains d'entres vous ont déjà tentés laventure de partir sac aux dos à la découverte d'un pays, c'est avec plaisir que nous liront vos témoignages et vos conseils.

Y-a t-il des choses auxquelles il faut obligatoirement penser, comment bien prévoir son budget, tout ce genre de choses...

Notre bateau sera le CARNIVAL DESTINY (101 353 tonnes, 2 642 passagers (en comptant 2 par cabine)).

Voici l'itinéraire (escale)que suivra notre croisière.

Dimanche: San Juan, Porto Rico, départ à 22:00.(Notre avion atterit à 17:00)

Lundi: Charlotte Amalie, St-Thomas (ou poss. d'excursion à St-John) de 7:00 à 17:00.

Mardi: Roseau, Dominique de 9:00 à 18:00.

Mercredi: Bridgetown, Barbade de 7:00 à 22:00.

Jeudi: Journée de plaisir en mer

Vendredi: Orangestad, Aruba de 8:00 à 23:00

Samedi: Journée de plaisir en mer

Dimanche: retour à San Juan, Porto Rico à 7:00 . Notre avion repart à 16:30.

Si vous avez déjà fait cette croisière ou visiter ces îles, nous aimerions bien avoir vos commentaires et suggestions.

Je souhaite traverser l'Amazonie, du Nord au Sud puis rejoindre le Pérou en voiture. L'itinéraire prévisionnel est : Brésil : Boa Vista - Manaus - Porto Velho - Cruseiro do sul - Boqueirâo // Frontière Brésil/Pérou // Pérou : Pucallpa ...etc...

Il semblerait que du côté Brésil, la "route" soit à peu près praticable. Par contre, je me suis renseignée auprès de l'ambassade du Pérou, et la spécialiste "état des routes" m'a précisé que courant novembre - décembre, la saison des pluies a bien commencée et que cette "route" risque d'être impraticable.

Quelqu'un a-t-il déjà expérimenté ce parcours en voiture ?

SAINT-DOMINGUE (AP) -- Un puissant séisme d'une magnitude préliminaire de 6, 5 sur l'échelle de Richter a secoué la République Dominicaine, bousculant les maisons et envoyant des vagues de secousses ressenties jusque dans l'ouest de Porto-Rico. On ne déplore aucune victime. L'Institut de physique du Globe de Strasbourg lui donne même une magnitude préliminaire de 6, 6 sur l'échelle de Richter. L'épicentre de ce séisme est situé à une dizaine de kilomètres au sud de Puerto Plata, une station balnéaire de la côte nord de la République Dominicaine. A Puerto Plata, la police a précisé que des malades ont été déplacés d'une aile endommagée du principal hôpital de Santiago, une ville située au sud de Puerto Plata. AP ma/v148

Good morning! We're heading to Cape Verde for 2 weeks at the end of April—São Vicente, Boa Vista, and Santiago. We’re a family of 5: 3 kids (4, 6, and 12) and 2 adults.

My questions revolve around beaches (a spot with interesting snorkeling and safe swimming for the kids), accommodation (kid-friendly, parks nearby, pool, beach, or nature—more like guesthouses or family-run pensions), hikes (accessible for kids), and whether renting a car makes sense depending on the island, even though local buses are an adventure in themselves.

**Santiago:** - Beach & snorkeling: Tarrafal, Quebra Canela in Praia, Ribeira da Barca (okay for kids?), Águas Belas? - Any nice places to stay? - Hikes: Malagueta?, Baobab Boa Entrada, Pico António (accessible? elevation gain, time to climb, difficulty, interest for kids?)

**Boa Vista:** - Beach + snorkeling: Santa Mónica, Praia de Chaves, Gatas, ... Estoril Beach in Sal Rei maybe? - Can we swim at Turtle Bay to see the turtles even though it’s not nesting season? - Any nice places to stay? - Hikes: Viana Desert? Can we explore it solo by renting a 4x4 and easily find the points of interest? - Is it worth renting a 4x4 for our stay in Boa Vista?

We’re a family of five (our kids are 6, 15, and 19) and we’d love to go somewhere warm with our feet in the water during the first two weeks of August 2026. We’d also like to do some cultural visits and a bit of hiking. We were thinking of Guadeloupe—I know it’s not the ideal time of year, but we don’t have much flexibility. Is it really a bad idea, or can we still enjoy it despite the weather?

Another option for us would be Madeira, which seems more reliable weather-wise, but it sounds like the beaches are less accessible and not as nice.

We haven’t really looked elsewhere because everything else (except the Canary Islands, Balearics, or Corsica) seems way too expensive. But if you’ve got any recommendations, don’t hesitate—we’re just starting to look into it.

We’ll be renting a car and plan to make 2 or 3 stops, but we prefer exploring on foot or by boat once we’re there. I’d love some help figuring out if my plan is doable in terms of time and transportation: - Day 1 – Arrival by boat from Mindelo, then aluguer to Cova (and overnight nearby) - Day 2 – Hike to Paul / aluguer for my partner - Day 3 – Aluguer to Ponta do Sol - Days 4 & 5 – Ponta do Sol - Day 6 – Hike to Cruzinha / aluguer for my partner (overnight in Cruzinha) - Day 7 – Aluguer (or taxi) to Xoxo (overnight in Xoxo) - Day 8 – Aluguer to Porto Novo + boat to Mindelo

‌ Hi there, Here’s a little review of our cruise on the Renaissance from October 18 to 29, 2025 (11 nights). It was our first experience with CFC. Some other forum members were on board too, so we can probably compare notes and correct me if I’m wrong!

The stops were as follows: 10/18 departure from Marseille 10/19 at sea 10/20 Cartagena 10/21 Almería 10/22 Gibraltar 10/23 Cádiz 10/24 at sea 10/25 Leixões (Porto) 10/26 Vigo 10/27 at sea 10/28 at sea 10/29 Dunkirk

First, a quick intro. We’re a family of four with two kids, ages 8 and 11. We booked this cruise in January 2025, right when it went on sale. At the time, it was priced at 763 € per adult (+ 99 € in tips) and 114.45 € per child (under 12, no tips to pay) for an ocean-view cabin (all ocean-view categories were the same price). Since there was also a single-parent offer (meaning one paying adult in the cabin was enough to get the child rate for the accompanying kid), I asked if we could take advantage of this offer to get two double cabins at the same price as one quadruple cabin (to have more space), and yes, it was possible. So we booked two premium ocean-view double cabins side by side. It was the same price as a quadruple. We booked directly through CFC because my husband had a promotional code from his works council. In total, for the four of us, we paid 1830 €, tips included. It’s true we booked early, but the rate was good, and we had the constraint of traveling as a family of four, so cabin choices were more limited. It’s also worth noting that the single-parent offer is limited.

Now, about embarkation: 10/18 Marseille Coming from the north, we took the direct TGV that morning at 7:22 AM, scheduled to arrive in Marseille at 12:24 PM. The trip went smoothly, great weather, and we arrived just one minute late. I had planned to get to the port using the free 35T shuttle from Joliette. To get to the bus stop, there were two options: the metro or walking. Since the weather was beautiful and the kids needed to stretch their legs, we opted for the second option. The route is all downhill, so it was pretty easy even with the suitcases. But I wouldn’t do it the other way around! We arrived at Joliette around 12:50 PM, just in time for the 1:00 PM shuttle, which arrived a few minutes late. Other cruisers got on board too. That day, there were two Costa ships and one MSC ship at the port as well. Traffic was heavy, and the shuttle arrived at the port entrance at 1:30 PM. We were scheduled for 2:30 PM. We were lucky to be at the closest embarkation terminal. So we were among those who had the least walking to do. We dropped off our suitcases and headed to the check-in counter. There were plenty of desks and almost no passengers. So we quickly completed the embarkation formalities—in just a few minutes—and when we boarded, it wasn’t even 2:00 PM yet. We headed to the buffet, where there weren’t many people. As we finished lunch, it was around 3:00 PM when they announced the cabins were ready. We went down to drop off our luggage in the cabins and then went up to the top deck to take some photos. The ship’s daily program said the safety drill would be at 4:00 PM. So we went to deck 6 at the scheduled time. But later, they announced it would actually be at 4:30 PM! In short, we waited 30 minutes for nothing because of a difference between the scheduled and actual time! The drill itself was long. Gathering everyone took about 20 minutes, I think. Just as we finished, they announced the departure, originally scheduled for 5:00 PM, was delayed until 9:00 PM due to latecomers. We went to check out the library, which had tons of board games and books—more than we’d ever seen. What stood out on this first day was that, for the first time, we had a French-speaking embarkation, announcements only in French (except for the safety drill), French-speaking servers, a paper daily program in French, books in French (which we’d never find on another ship), and menus in French. To wrap up the day, we had dinner at Vatel. I had requested the first seating (6:30 PM) and a table for four, and we got it. We were seated upstairs near the window—a very pleasant table that we’d occupy every evening. What was a little surprising, but we got used to it, was that you had to order everything you wanted at once. The portions weren’t big, but you could choose what you wanted. The cheese was French and excellent.

I’d like to share our travel plans for March 2026 to get your valuable feedback...

- Arrival in Sao Vicente on Tuesday, March 3rd at 9:20 AM from Lisbon (EasyJet) - Direct departure the same day or the next day for Santo Antao – 3 or 4 nights on Santo Antao (depending on whether we spend the first night in Mindelo or on Santo Antao) - Return to Sao Vicente for 3 nights - Flight to Boa Vista via Sal (Cabo Verde Airlines) on Tuesday, March 10th – 5 nights on Boa Vista - Return flight on Sunday, March 15th (Boa Vista to Porto: EasyJet)

Given the various bits of info I’ve seen about the unreliability of inter-island transport, is this itinerary realistically doable without stress? Would it be better to just take a simple flight from Sao Vicente to Sal and end the trip there (from where it’s also possible to return to Europe or France)? I’m still more drawn to Boa Vista... but I’m worried that two flights in a row might be complicated, unless it’s the same plane that just makes a stopover and continues...

Also, I’m calling on the expertise of hikers for Santo Antao: I’m not a big sports enthusiast—I enjoy walking when I travel, but not distances much longer than 10 km, and nothing too difficult (especially steep climbs where I quickly run out of breath)... For the hike from Ponta do Sol to Cruzinha: can you confirm that the hike is easier in the direction from Ponta do Sol to Cruzinha (less climbing)? I’ve found info that this hike is 14 km and takes about 5 hours. Do you think it’s possible to shorten it by taking a taxi or *aluguer* to Fontainhas? If so, how long would the hike be then, and how much time would it take?

For the hike from Xoxo (starting at the Bela Vista kiosk on the Cova road), I’ve found info that it’s 12 km and takes 5 hours of walking. I think it goes to Ribeira Grande. Apparently, you can shorten the hike and find *aluguers* on the road near Café Melicia... In that case, do you know how long the hike would be? Is this the hike that lets you walk along *levadas* (like in Madeira), cross banana plantations, and pass by the Cachoeira de Vinha waterfall?

Sorry for all these questions, but I can’t find a guide with hikes and difficulty levels... I think two hikes (one along the coast and one inland with terraces, *levadas*, and banana plantations) would suit our level.

On the third free day, do you think we could rent a 4x4 to explore: take the two scenic routes on the east side and maybe venture a little off the beaten path (without taking risks, of course)... Otherwise, hire a guide for the day: do you have any recommendations and an idea of the price?

One last thing: in March, is it worth (or pointless) to choose accommodation with a pool (especially on Santo Antao)? Is the pool water warm enough? What about the ocean temperature?
