Highlights and special features of the region's departments.
Côtes-d'Armor
The Côtes-d'Armor draws its main tourist appeal from a wild and sometimes spectacular coastline, notably the Pink Granite Coast and especially the Cape Fréhel, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful spots in Brittany with its cliffs and seascapes. There are also some lovely beaches scattered here and there, along with traces of Breton history and culture, such as in Dinan or Tréguier.
Finistère
The westernmost department of Brittany offers an excellent overall holiday balance. It combines wild nature, alternating between sea (islands, "pointes"...) and "reliefs" (Monts d'Arrée and others), a rich historical and cultural heritage (small towns, parish enclosures...), and plenty of relaxation opportunities, not least with the countless beaches along the coast and the activities you can enjoy there.
Ille-et-Vilaine
With Saint-Malo, Ille-et-Vilaine is home to one of the most visited sites in western France. Even if the walled city tends to overshadow the rest of the department tourism-wise, there’s still plenty more to discover. Starting with its beaches and seaside resorts, as well as various places where the region’s historical heritage is still very much alive, such as in Rennes or Vitré.
Morbihan
Primarily focused on the sea with its seaside resorts, fishing or pleasure ports, islands (including Belle-Île-en-Mer), the Gulf of Morbihan or the Quiberon Peninsula, this department will delight sea lovers. Additionally, you can explore traces of the past, starting with numerous megalithic sites (including, of course, Carnac) or the few castles and buildings dating from the medieval period.
