What to See and Do in Moulay Idriss

  • The holy city: Moulay Idriss Zerhoun (the full name) is a holy city in Morocco. It is the burial place of the great-grandson of the Prophet, Sultan Idriss I, founder of the first Moroccan dynasty. As such, it is a pilgrimage site and hosts a large annual gathering (moussem). Although non-Muslims are not permitted to visit the sanctuary, you can freely explore the narrow streets of this small white city built atop a hill. From the heights of the city, you’ll enjoy a beautiful panorama of the surrounding area.
