Bars and Nightlife

Marrakech has become a trendy destination in recent years, and its nightlife is quite vibrant. You can enjoy numerous bars and nightclubs, particularly in the new part of the city.

For a more "touristy" but still enjoyable experience, several cafés around Jemaa el-Fna Square offer terraces with great views of the square and its bustling activity throughout much of the day. On the square itself, orange juice stands (less than 0.5 €) have become a popular attraction.

Shopping and Markets

While Marrakech offers a wide variety of goods, prices aren’t always as competitive as in the rest of the country—especially if you struggle with bargaining. Beyond the tourist-focused handicrafts found in the souks, Marrakech also has several supermarkets and shops selling products and brands similar to those in Europe, often at much lower prices.

Markets

  • Marrakech Souks: These start near Jemaa el-Fna Square. This is the most popular part of the old city, where you can wander endlessly and shop to your heart’s content.
  • The Cooperative: Located about 300 meters west of the Koutoubia Mosque on Mohammed V Avenue, this shopping center features a selection of boutiques and cooperatives offering fixed-price handicrafts. While the selection is smaller than in the souks, it’s a good place to get an idea of prices before bargaining in the markets.
