Activities in Angers

Hi Thierry, Since no one else is answering, I’ll give you a few tips... though I’m not from the area. During a stop on my way somewhere else, I stopped in Angers to admire the largest medieval tapestry in France—no less than 100 meters long! It’s also a UNESCO-listed piece. The museum is the Apocalypse Tapestry Museum; it’s open in the afternoon, entry is 9 €, and you should plan for 1 to 2 hours for the visit, depending on how much you want to linger over the details. Hi Thierry, if you want to stay in the tapestry realm (contemporary this time), I recommend the Jean Lurçat museum, which features the tapestry titled "Le Chant du Monde" ("The Song of the World").

For a walk (or walks), Angers is right by the Maine River. Just downstream, there’s the Lac de Maine, which you can circle. If you have more time, you can continue along the Maine all the way to Bouchemaine and, another 2 km further, La Pointe (where the Loire and Maine rivers meet). It’s perfect by bike. On foot, it’s best to limit the distance by taking public transport one way (it should be possible, but I haven’t tried it).
