Quand j'ai preparer mon voyage en oaut dernier j'utiliser ma carte bancaire pour mes reservations , mais cette carte bancaire arriv à expiration le dernier mois avant le voyage .
Depuis j'ai changer de carte bancaire ( anticipation) et j'ai un hotel que j'ai reservé en non annulable mais qui ne m'a pas encore été prelever ( rare quand c'est du non annulable /remboursable) que je souhaite changer.Puisque la carte utilisé pour cette reservation a été desactiver par ma banque il ne pourront donc jamais me prelever si je n'y vais pas.
Quand pensez vous ?
Apres pour les autres hotels qui on été reserver avec l'ancienne carte ca rien de bien grave je leur donnerais ma nouvelle carte + copie de la reservation

Par Booking.com, vous recevrez un mail vous notifiant que la votre carte est refusée, vous avez ensuite 24 heures pour compléter un formulaire électronique joint avec le nouveau No de carte.

Dans ce cas, ne pouvant rien prélever, il vont annuler tout simplement votre réservation, si on vous demande un autre No de carte, faite le mort...Puis-je savoir par quel canal avez-vous réservez?
je n'ai pas de solution directe pour ton cas, seulement une question (mais ma remarque pourrait servir à d'autres) :
y a-t-il une raison pour laquelle tu as changé ta carte par anticipation avant son renouvellement automatique ?
la nouvelle carte (de renouvellement) serait arrivée dans le mois précédant ton départ donc à temps et porterait le même numéro, donc aucun problème.
alors qu'une carte de remplacement a un numéro différent d'où ton problème ... et je ne sais pas comment il peut être résolu.

Je pense que Seb6210 a été obligé de changer sa carte par anticipation pour pouvoir réserver les hôtels . En effet , par experience ( et en effet par booking , mais les autres centrales doivent faire pareil j'imagine ) les hôtels refusent de prendre une réservation si la carte utilisée est périmée à la date du voyage . On a en effet 24h pour fournir d'autres coordonnées bancaires avant annulation . J'ai moi-même été obligée de changer de carte , celle-ci étant périmée fin fevrier pour un séjour en avril . ça faisait un peu juste pour réserver 2 mois avant !
De quel hôtel s'agit-il? Avec la chaîne Best Western, j'ai déjà eu le cas (pas dans tous les hôtels) : même en prépayé, rien ne m'a été débité en amont, seulement le jour d'arrivée.
Pour le changement de CB (je viens de vivre la situation semaine dernière!!!) : j'ai appelé tous les hôtels et pour les chaines, directement la centrale de réservation aux US : ils ont modifié.
A noter que j'avais déjà eu le tour il y a 2 ou 3 ans, j'avais fait pareil et tout s'était bien passé.
Pour avoir été confronté au même cas lors de mon précédent voyage, je peux dire qu'en réservant directement auprès des hôtels, ils acceptent tous les réservation, même si la carte arrive à expiration avant son séjour.
Je n'ai eu aucun soucis sur place (13 nuits réservées)

Oui, je me suis mal exprimé et je suis dans le même cas. Quand je parle de centrale de réservation, c'est le call center Bestwestern, Windham, Choice Hotel, etc...
C'est vrai que l'option "remplacement anticipé de la Carte Bancaire" lorsqu'on peut la planifier est le plus pratique 😉
faux pour mon cas personnel, en effet j'ai réservé mes tous mes hôtels pour juin 2014 via booking avec une carte visa premier qui arrive à expiration en mars 2014, je n'ai eu aucun problème. Par contre j'ai voulu réserver la semaine dernière ma voiture de location et là j'ai eu un refus suite à l’expiration. Bref je suis allé voir ma banque et celle-ci a décidé d'anticiper ma nouvelle carte visa en signalant que mon ancienne carte me posait des difficultés ( problème de puce électronique....), Maintenant j'ai ma nouvelle carte avec les même N° ....
et bien je suis mal tombée alors ...! ou peut-être parce que je réservais 5 nuits . Il faut dire qu'il s'agit d'un super8 dans le New Jersey pas cher du tout vu la proximité de Manhattan ....
par contre bizarrement il me semble bien que j'ai réservé la voiture avant de changer de carte , donc avec celle qui était périmée avant le séjour , et je n'ai pas eu de soucis . Je vais vérifier

comme la carte arrivait dans un mois a expiration, mon banquier c'est arrangé pour me la changer en signalant que la carte ne passait pas dans les distributeurs automatiques ( faux problème de puce bien sur ..) et j'ai donc reçu la nouvelle carte avec les mêmes N° que l'ancienne et c'est reparti pour deux ans, je dois avoir un banquier sympa..... mais c'est vrai qu'à l'époque je m'étais posé la question, que va t-il se passer quand la carte sera dépassé ( le problème devient gênant je pense, si on venait à perdre la carte ou se la faire voler, auquel cas il faudrait en créer un nouvelle avec un autre numéro )

Cela m'est arrivé. 10 jours avant mon séjour en 2011.. Nouvelle CB, nouveaux numéros, nouveau code ...Aucun problème pour la location de voiture et les réservations d'hôtel que j'avais effectuées avec mon ancienne CB.
De toute façon lors de l'arrivée à l'hôtel, ils vous demandent : Passeport et CB

J'aurais tendance à répondre que de fait, rien ne pourra être prélevé via cette carte désactivée... mais l'hôtelier n'a-t-il pas le moyen de récupérer la somme due via la nouvelle carte, si il introduit une réclamation à sa banque ?

Attention : j'avais fait la même chose en 2011 et, à l'arrivée à l'hôtel (Best Western), bien que je présente une copie de ma réservation, celle-ci avait été annulée du fait que mon ancienne carte ayant servi à la garantir était périmée.
Par chance, il restait des chambres, mais entre temps, le prix avait bien augmenté !
moi j'y pense et toi tu le vit, t’a toujours un coup d'avance, sauf qu'en juin je suis 4 nuits à moab et je penserai à toi avec une bonne bière.........et en voyant le soleil se coucher sur délicate arch, j'y pense pour la voiture de location, il retire de suite la somme donc aucun problème mais pour les hôtels je note ta remarque.

j'y serai du 21 au 25 juin à l'hotel : la quinta inn ( j'avais fait le red lodge il y a deux ans ). Je souhaite faire de la jeep wrangler car il y a deux ans j'avais descendu la shaffer trail assez bien, mais une fois en bas la potash road était vraiment défoncée et j'avais pas osé passer, idem pour muselman arch ( j'avais fait la route sur 1 km avant de rebrousser chemin ), finalement j'étais remonté sur la shaffer trail pour rentrer à moab......et pourtant j'avais un SUV ( chevrolet captiva ). C'est la raison pour laquelle cette année je souhaite faire la descente de long canyon ( voir post récent ) ensuite aller à muselman arch, ensuite remonter la shaffer trail, et pour finir la redescendre et revenir à moab par la potasch road ( faire au passage corona arch que j'avais pas vu la dernière fois ). J'avais noté farabee dans mes tablettes, donc tu confirmes....mais cette année je pense louer une jeep grand cherokee donc la garde au sol devrait être plus haute, on verra à san francisco ce que alamo me donnera.
je souhaiterai te solliciter concernant un GPS de randonnée, en effet depuis hier j'ai été reçu pour un permis à THE WAVE le 28 juin ( jour de mon anniversaire, les dieux étaient de mon côté) ) et je pense acheter un GPS, j'avoue que j'y connais rien ( mais rien de rien ) je vois qu'il faut depenser environ 200 euros pour en acheter un correct ( GARMIN ) mais à ce prix là, faut-il acheter les cartes ?? j'ai vu que sur certain site c'est 120 euros pour la carte sud ouest usa ??? bref pour juste une rando, ça fait chère, d'autant que je ne suis même pas certain que je serai m'en servir... bref si tu peux m'apporter un max de conseil je t'en saura gré ( d'ailleurs je vais peut-être ouvrir un post sur cette question the wave avec GPS )

Normalement avec une Jeep Grand Cherokee: pas de souci.
Nous avions fait toute la partie que tu as décrite avec ce véhicule en 2010. Au fil des années, la piste peut se dégrader.

Investir dans un GPS de rando pour une simple randonnée me semble excessif. Regarde si tu n'as pas une appli avec ton smarphone.
Les Rangers expliquent très bien l'itinéraire pour accéder à the Wave (docs fournis et repères distincts)
Il existe des sites où tu peux télécharger les cartes. Il faut que je les retrouve.
L'utilisation du GPS de rando demande une certaine pratique. Si tu en achètes un, achète le au plus tôt pour pratiquer

Bon si je reçoit la jeep GC je ferais le parcours décrit sans prendre la location de voiture 4x4 ( wrangler ) . Du coup je revient sur l'achat d'un GPS pour une simple rando de 5 km !!! mais j'ai vu que l'été dernier il y avait eu 3 décès...bref ça fait reflechir. En effet les rangers envoi la carte du parcours que j'ai déjà récupéré sur les sites avec aussi un max de doc sur the wave, et j'ai été sur un site allemand ( zehrer ) qui donne une carte topo avec cordonnées en degré et un fichier en gpx ??? ( avec ça faut-il acheter une carte détaillé en plus chez garmin ou ces fichiers suffisent ??? ) bref j'ai vu que le garmin etrex 20 coute actuellement 155 euros, si il me guide sur the wave pourquoi pas, effectivement si je l'achète il faut que pratique ici, je ne me vois pas au début de la rando sur place sortir la notice d'utilisation ( en japonais ...). Pour le smarphone, il faut d'après le forum avoir un système exploitation sous androide, alors que moi j'ai un iphone...j'ai vu que pong avait acheté l'etrex 20 ( je vais essayé de le contacter en message privé )
Oui, il y a eu trois morts, mais il faudrait voir dans quelles circonstances😇 Perso, j'ai vu des familles partir en tongue et pour tout 1/2 bouteille d'eau lors de mes randos !
Il vaut mieux avoir une carte plus précise car tu risques d'avoir un fond blanc sur ton GPS, ce n'est rédhibitoire car si les points GPS sont enregistrés, tu te repères grâce à eux. Au fur et à mesure de ta progression sur le terrain, la trace s'inscrit sur ton GPS. Au retour: trackback et tu marches sur tes propres traces et en principe, retrouver la sortie😏
Tu peux récupérer les notices en français sur le site de Garmin.
Pour transférer les points GPS, il faut le logiciel BaseCamp ou Mapsource. Basecamp est vendu avec le GPS.
Si tu as bien étudié le parcours, il n'est pas difficile. Il y a des points de repère bien particuliers. Le seul souci: c'est point de sortie, il n'y a qu'un seul 😇

mais si déjà il me fait retrouver le parking, c'est déjà pas mal, finalement je pense en acheter un, au pire je trace un chemin sur un parcours autour de chez moi et je voit si le GPS me ramène ( au pire je sais rentrer tout seul ...........). Et si j'achète le DVD sur le soutwest ( soit 120 euros ) c'est facile d'utilisation???

Je prends au vol la discussion qui a bifurqué sur l'utilisation d'un GPS de rando (désolé pour l'initiateur du post sur les CB😊). J'ai fait deux fois la rando de The Wave en 2011 et 2012, et j'ai utilisé à chaque fois mon iphone avec l'application Motion X GPS disponible sur l'app store pour moins de 5 €, et c'était amplement suffisant. Donc si c'est seulement pour The Wave que tu veux acquérir un GPS, ton iphone fera très bien l'affaire à condition de partir avec sa batterie bien chargée car le mode GPS est gourmand. Je précise que j'aurais pu la faire sans aide GPS car la carte des rangers est très précise, il nous a seulement aidé à prendre les trajectoires les plus directes à certains endroits.
Comme dit le Spartiate, les décès accidentels sont dûs la plupart du temps à des imprudences: par exemple en juillet 2012 un jeune randonneur a quitté l'endroit au sunset pour les photos, s'est perdu car il n'avait ni GPS ni lampe et a finalement fait une chute mortelle dans le slot canyon de Buckskin Gulch pourtant assez éloigné du parcours. Donc en faisant la rando dans des conditions normales et en tenant compte des précautions habituelles fournies par les rangers tu n'auras aucun problème ce sera un magnifique cadeau d'anniversaire!
Surtout essaie d'explorer aussi les environs de The Wave, il y a vraiment de quoi faire. Nous y sommes allés deux fois mais nous serions encore partant pour y retourner, dommage que le tirage au sort soit si sélectif!😕

désolé pour avoir modifié le post d'origine. Je prends bonne note pour l'application sur iphone, que je vais essayer au plus vite et si c'est bon, je n'achèterais pas de gps de rando. J'ai récupéré un max de donc sur the wave, donc tous les autres points d’intérêts seront faits ( normalement ). Pour l'anecdote, il y a deux ans j'avais voulu faire the wave à la valley of the fire, 10 mn à pied avec les guides papiers, eh bien moi j'ai mis 2h00, et d'ailleurs j'ai trouvé un couple d'allemand qui était dans le même cas que moi, et finalement ils ont abandonné, et moi à force de persévérance, je l'ai enfin trouvé, et effectivement j'ai mis 10 mn pour rentrer sur la voiture ( mais crevé ........) donc je ne me voit pas recommencer sur the wave, bien que je suis quelqu'un qui prépare à fond ces parcours, distances, cartes détaillées, boissons, et j'ai déjà un max de photos sur le sentier pour y aller ( ancien post, ou photos des rangers via le permis )

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

There are several attractions along the way:

- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
