Bonjour, j'ouvre cette discussion, car j'ai deux questions. Mon voyage en septembre pour une boucle Phoenix-Phoenix, passant par l'Arizona, le Colorado et le Nouveau Mexique, en septembre, sur 3 semaines, est maintenant bouclé.
Et donc, si je prends une carte revolut (j'ai constitué un dossier), pourrais je payer avec des réservations effectuées avec ma carte classique? Comme les motels réservés avec Booking.
Et savez vous ce qui est prélevé en plus du produit payé?
Par ailleurs, lors de mon voyage en 2016, j'ai payé mes motels pour une ou deux nuits en cash. Ça n'a jamais posé de problèmes, je n'ai même jamais eu de prélèvement avant l'arrivée sur place. J'ai lu sur ce forum, que cela a tendance à disparaître, et que le cash est moins accepté car les motels ont tendance à anticiper les prélèvements. Je pense une fois sur place appeler les établissements 48h à l'avance pour leur confirmer mon arrivée. Qu'en pensez vous? Quelles expériences avez vous eu lors de vos plus récents voyages.

Je confirme, de mes expériences :
- la tendance à ne plus pouvoir payer en cash
- et celle d'être prélevé en anticipation (je suppose dès l'heure limite d'annulation). Même en téléphonant le matin-même pour prévenir de notre arrivée ce que je fais systématiquement.
Ah Revolut ... vais bientôt faire un gros post là-dessus je pense.
Rien de compliquer. Je réserve tous les hôtels, motel, campground avec la Revolut que j'ai préalablement chargé en USD. Donc soit y a débit immédiat, soit c'est retiré à l'arrivée et comme c'est avec la Revolut pas de soucis. Par contre faut donner sa carte EUR lors de l'arrivée pour la caution et si le logement n'a pas encore été débité (comme ça arrive dans les groupes Choicehotels et Wyndham) redonner la Revolut et bien préciser qu'il faut payer avec celle là. En faisant comme ça, jamais eu de soucis !
Pour le Booking ... je passe, je n'aime pas ce site qui ne fait pas apparaître toutes les taxes dans le prix total.
Expérience aussi dans la chaîne Best Western, celui de Kanab où l'on était l'année passée. J'avais réservé avec ma carte EUR car je n'avais pas encore la Revolut. Il m'on débité directement à l'heure limite d'annulation (48h). Je l'avais vu car en voyage je contrôle plus que souvent les débits sur les comptes .... J'ai donc demandé à payer avec ma Revolut à l'arrivée, le prélèvement sur ma carte EUR a été annulé et la somme créditée dans les 48h ainsi que tous les frais.
Pour la location voiture aussi, si résa en paiement sur place, on est débité au retour du véhicule. Il suffit donc de prévoir la somme sur la carte Revolut, de passer au comptoir de retour des véhicules et demander à payer avec. Mais précision, elle n'est pas acceptée pour la garantie à la prise du véhicule où là, il faut bien donner ta carte EUR.
Effectivement, pas de soucis avec la carte Revolut. Si vous avez déjà réservé sur Booking avec votre carte "normale", vous pouvez changer les infos de la carte pour mettre celles de Revolut, au cas où vous seriez débité avant votre arrivée.
Comme l'a dit Arnaudbu, pensez à bien donner votre carte normale pour les cautions. Sur Revolut l'argent est réellement débité et il a parfois fallu attendre deux semaines avant de recevoir à nouveau l'argent.
Merci Caussat, je vais réfléchir sur revolut, mais j’appellerai quand même les motels en spécifiant que je voudrais payer en cash. On verra bien. Il se trouve que j’ai mis de côté des dollars au moment où le change était favorable.
Salut, j'ai adressé quelques mails aux premiers motels de mon circuit, et les réponses confirment la possibilité de payer en cash, en présentant quand même ma carte de crédit à l'arrivée. Mais ça, nous y sommes habitués. je vais continuer et écrire aux autres motels. Bonne journée

J'ai toujours réservé mes hôtels partout dans le monde avec ma carte Revolut et je paye toujours avec dès que ce n'est pas en Euros. Pour le cash, le retrait avec Revolut n'étant pas suffisant (pour rester avec 0 frais), je cumule avec une carte HelloBank pour n'avoir aucun frais de retrait aux US et en Australie (entre autre...) ;)

À partir de l'application sur smartphone ont vous demande de prendre une photo de votre carte d'identité ou passeport puis l’application vous demande de prendre un sel fi et c'est jouer , vous choisissent vous-même votre code secret. Il vérifie votre identité et vous recevez un SMS de confirmation dans les 5 min . l'envoie la carte sous 8 jours avec des frais d'envoie de 5,99€, c'est une carte Visa classique .Pour la recharger c'est très simple , soit à partir de votre carte bleue classique ou par virement . Vous pouvez la charger en euro ou dans les 25 devises proposé , vous pouvez avoir plusieurs devises sur la même carte . Exemple 200€ et 400$ sur la même carte vous pouvez changer à tout moment de devise en 5 secondes . Vraiment très pratique.Par contre je préfère payer ma location de voiture avec ma carte bleue Master Gold du crédit mutuel pour bénéficier des assurances en cas d'accident qui couve les SUV 4x4 jusque 50000€ en utilisation normale.

Pour une carte bleue classique il n'y a pas de différence entre Visa et Master card , La révolut est une carte débit et est valable 5 ans. Il n'y a pas d'assurances voyages ou payant .
Par contre je viens de voir sur un forum qu'il faut déclarer le compte aux impôts !
Le retrait de 200€ a un distributeur a l'étranger 2% de frais et il faut éviter de faire du change en dehors des heures d'ouverture des bourses.
Si tu as lu ça sur le site US au fond bleu RT c'est totalement faux ! Revolut n'est pas un compte bancaire, encore moins un compte générant des intérêts et gain et selon la loi européenne, pas besoin Dr le déclarer. Revolut est un système de paiement, c'est un Paypal avec une carte de paiement ? Est ce que l'on doit déclarer son compte paypal ? Et s'il fallait le déclarer, ça se ferait tout seul via les services bancaires et les impôts.

Nous avons commandé deux cartes Revolut (1 en janvier et l’autre début mars en profitant de l’offre gratuite). La première carte est une Mastercard et la seconde une Visa.
Si location auto prepaid oui faut utiliser la carte EUR. Si paiement sur place, résa avec la carte EUR et paiement au retour du véhicule avec la Revolut.
+1 et cela prend 2 minutes sur le parking retour. Même pas la peine d’aller au comptoir. Cela permet d’economiser quelques Euros de frais.
Et bien merci pour l'information, je ne savais pas qu'ils envoyaient des Visa maintenant. Autour de moi je n'ai toujours vu que des Mastercard. 😉
Pour la question des assurances, pour payer en voyage les dépenses du quotidien il n'y a pas besoin d'assurance, et c'est là que j'utilise Revolut à 100%. Pour acheter des billets d'avions pour sécuriser des réservation d'hôtel j'utilise une carte Gold bien évidemment.
Ce n'est pas des assurances voyages dont je parle mais des assurances en cas de fraude à la carte, copie de bande magnétique, paiement internet frauduleux. Il faut savoir que dans ce cas, Revolut ne bougera pas le petit doigt.
Ah oui c'est sûr ! Après il faut en avoir conscience et jouer avec la sécurité de la carte (blocage localisation, blocage piste magnétique, etc...) lorsqu'on l'utilise.
Le paiement par bande magnétique est très courant aux US. Si désactivé, ça va souvent bloquer et il faudra une connexion pour le rétablir. La géolocalisation, c'est à tester.
La géolocalisation je l'utilise rarement mais j'ai déjà utilisé l'option, je n'avais pas pu payer sur un site américain, me trouvant en France car j'avais oublié que j'avais activé la géolocalisation. Et pour la bande magnétique, évidemment je désactive 2s avant de passer à la caisse, c'est instantané et je rebloque si je ne m'en sers pas avant plusieurs heures. Ça peut faire un peu parano mais vu que ce système de sécurité existe, autant l'utiliser ;)
Pour le fait d'avoir une connexion, je voyage avec l'accès à la 3G (gratuitement avec Free dans pas mal de pays) ou en louant sur place un boîtier 4G, donc aucun soucis de ce côté là.
Et bah...je vais encore te contredire. Tu vas dire que j'en fais exprès mais j'ai croisé un inspecteur des impôts il y a peu et j'en ai profité pour lui poser la question pour revolut et autres instituts de change, quand je lui ai dit que c'etait pas vraiment une banque.
Il m'a dit : "vaut mieux le faire, déclarer le, c'est mieux"😉
Sinon, petite question : j'ai lu ce que tu écrivais. Quand tu réserves une voiture ou un hotel mais que tu ne payes que sur place (donc annulable), tu peux payer avec revolut même si tu as donné ta carte EURO quelques mois avant , c'est bien ça ?
Aussi quand tu réserves une voiture en payable à l'arrivée, tu es sûr que tu payes seulement à la fin ? Pas plutot à la prise du véhicule ?

Si l'inspecteur dit "vaut mieux le faire, déclarer le, c'est mieux", c'est qu'il n'est pas sur. Connais tu quelqu'un qui à déclarer son compte paypal ? As tu lu le règlement financier français sur la déclaration des comptes à l'étranger ? Si oui as tu lu que seul les comptes recevant des dépôts en espèces et générant des intérêts étaient à déclarer ? Sais tu aussi que Revolut est hébergé en UK qui est encore dans l'UE et que de ce fait, la déclaration des comptes à l'administration française se fait automatiquement au besoin (valable pour ceux qui on certifié leur compte avec leur ID) ?
Pour le paiement des hôtels je l'ai expliqué plus haut comment fallait faire. Pour la voiture, chez Hertz en tout cas, paiement au retour si pas prepaid, faut l'année passée et relatée par d'autres membres également.

Et bien qu'ils ont la livre sterling ils sont bien en zone EUR .... donc faut arrêter un moment de vouloir avoir raison ! Revolut c'est ZERO déclaration idem à Paypal !
y a aussi la conséquence du Brexit. d'ici un an je crois. le compte étant anglais donc hors de l'union. moi je penche plus pour N26 du coup. Brexit oblige
Qu'est ce que cela a à voir ??? Revolut ne changera rien vu que sa clientèle est internationale .... N26 avec ses 1,7% de frais permanent sur le change et son nombre de transaction obligatoire pour rester gratuit est moins intéressant. Et à suivre Revolut régulièrement, l'objectif est de rester numéro 1 et gratuit !

En fait ce que l administration veut savoir ce sont les revenus à déclarer.. sur revolut tu vires soit de ton compte soit de ta CB qui prend sur un compte français..donc l administration est déjà au courant. ce ne sont pas des revenus supplémentaires non déclaré

J'ai maintenant la carte "revolut" .Je l'ai eu par la pub et avantage du site "booking".
J'ai la somme avec change en $ US pour régler mes hôtels réservés également ( pas tous ) sur "booking.com". J'ai donc fait une mise à jour de mes n° de carte .
-" Revolut " à modifié son réglement ? Ce qui n'est pas très claire pour moi : il y a une commission pour les retraits au distributeur de billets de 2 /100 au delà de 200€ par mois . Semble t'il .Par contre pour les prélèvements ou paiement de l'hôtel à la réception . y a t'il une commission également ? EN PLUS.

sur booking soit tu payes en euros à la commande et dans ce cas là la carte révolut n'a pas d’intérêt, soit tu payes sur place et tu pourras très bien utilisé la carte révolut même si tu as laissé une visa ou autre en garantie.
Parce que je ne suis pas sure qu'on puisse laisser une révolut en "garantie".
On peut la laisser en deposit mais comme c'est une debit card, les fonds disparaissent et ne seront de retours qu'environ 10j après que le marchand ai annulé la caution.
oui ..mais par exemple sur booking tu peux réserver 10 mois avant en paiement à l’hôtel.. du coup c'est bloqué pendant 10 mois?

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
