Bien entendu les bateaux, avions et bus sont approximativement placés dans l'horaire...ça risque fort de changer et je le sais. Je risque aussi d'annuler certains endroits en cours de route. Y-a-til des endroits qui ne valent pas la peine d'être vus, qui ne valent pas le déplacement ?
Je vais juste te donner mon avis perso, qui n'engage donc que moi... cet itinéraire me paraît complètement dingue !! Vous allez bouffer des Kms... 😛 En 45 jours (donc 1 de moins que toi), je n'ai vadrouillé que sur Java & Sulawesi...
Passer d'une île à l'autre en Indo, s'apparente bien souvent à changer de pays... autre religion, autre culture... Je préfère donc limiter les sauts de puce. Ceci n'est, encore une fois, que ma façon de voir les choses.

en apprenant l'itinéraire de son prochain voyage en Indonésie ... Je viens
d'apprendre que le Volcan MERAPI près de JOGYAKARTA recommence à cracher
très fort et ils ont évacué des dizaines de milliers de personnes en attendant !
Je préférerais passer plus de temps à visiter toute l'Ile de BALI - qui est Hindou
et les 3 Gilis à LOMBOK qui est musulmane ! Sauter d'une Ile à l'autre n'est pas
une bonne solution en Indonésie en ce moment - surtout à JAVA à cause du
dernier tremblement de terre ...
Salut et merci pour vos avis. Mais non come je dis plus haut, je vais annuler certains endroits, je veux seulement savoir lesquels ne valent pas la peine ou moins la peine que les autres. Je vais faire toutes les iles mentionnées, la durée sur chacune va varier c'est sur. Et pour ce qui est du Merapi, je parle courrament avec des français qui travaille à Jogyakarta et ils m'ont confirmer que c'était certaines villes en particuliers qui avaient été touchée par le tremblement de terre et que le volcan...on attend de toute façon... Si il a un problème on s'en va. On ne sera que 2-3 jours à jogyakarta. À l'est de Java y'a pas de problème.

Jour 26 : Lombok : Kuta
Jour 27 : Avion de Mataram à Denpasar et à Labuanbajo et Bateau jusqu’à Rinca
Jour 28 : Rinca
Jour 29 : Komodo ....... mieux de te baser deux ou trois nuits sur Labuanbajo et d'aller visiter Rinca, plus intéressant pour les varans et la faune, dans la journée ....... par contre pour les fonds marins, komodo en présentent certains de toute beauté ......
Jour 30 (au choix) : Bateau jusqu’à Labuanbajo, Ruteng, Bajawa ....... ce dernier village étant celui qui a le plus d'intérêt .....
Jour 31 (au choix) : Riung, Moni
Jour 32 : Moni, Ascension du Gunung Kelimutu ....... m'ouais si tu as la chance de ne pas avoir de brouillard, mais sinon redescend à pied, c'est là le must de la ballade .......
Jour 33 : Maumere, ........ personne ne le sait, mais au sur la Côte au Nord de Maumere il y a des endroits pardisiaques avec des bungalows ou séjourner .......
Pour ce qui est des villages Sasaks de Lombok au sud, oui je sais, j'ai mis le nom des villages que je connais comme repère, mais je suis au courant, grâce au forum, que les vrais villages sont à 2-3 kM plus loin que rembitan et sade.
Pour Senggigi, on y dit qu'il y a une superbe plage...? C'est pas vrai?
Pour Rinca et Komodo, je crois qu'on va rester sur Rinca et aller en bateau faire de l'apnée à Komodo 1 après-midi.
Pour Maumere, on sait pas trop si on va y séjouner ou non, ça va nous servir de port ou d'aéroport hehehe. Mais merci pour le tuyau!
Bon alors je continue de prendre vos conseils. Je les apprécie énormément!!!
Inutile de consacrer une journée entière pour la visite de Borobudur, et une journée pour la visite de Prambanan. Tu peux combiner les 2 dans la même journée, voir s'y rendre (Borobudur) pour le coucher de soleil.

Tu veux voir beaucoup de choses, et à mon avis en trop peu de temps. Si je n'avais qu'un conseil à te donner, laisse un peu ton programme 'marathon' de côté.
Retiens en les grandes lignes et laisse toi porter par les rencontres, les lieux.... En Asie et cela est valable pour l'Indonésie, on prend son temps, on compose avec le moment. Certes, tu verras beaucoup de choses, mais à mon avis avec une certaine frustration.
C'est un avis perso, mais il me semble que se confiner à Java, Bali et Lombok pour un mois 1/2 serait un bon compromis (de toute façon tu y reviendras en Indonésie 😇).

Cet itinéraire ne cible que les 'choses à voir' sur chaque île... Alors qu'il y a tant à apprécier à côté.
Il est dommage de résumer l'Indo, ou tout autre pays d'ailleurs, à ses sites touristiques.
Cette 'gourmandise' risque de vous gacher le voyage, ça va être la course. Même si vous avez le budget pour prendre X vols intérieurs, c'est ambitieux.
On a de toute façon pas assez d'une vie pour visiter tout l'archipel Indonésien et ses... combien déjà ?... 16.000 îles 😛 ! Autant se faire une raison et prévoir d'y retourner !
Bin voyons donc, je ne résume absoulment pas l'indonésie...c'esyt clair que ce que j'ai mis dans mon itinéraire est simplement ce que les gens de voyage forum m, ont recommendé depuis 9 mois sur le forum. On ne va pas que faire ça hehehe voyons! Ce n'est pas de la gourmandise au contraire. De plus au prix que coûte le billet pour les canadiens et le temps pour s'y rendre, croyez-moi faut maximiser.

Comme ils te disent tous ton itinéraire est complètement fou!!!! J'y suis restée 2 mois et j'ai à peine fait la moitié de ton itinéraire!!! Sur Flores, les trajets sont trèèèèès longs. Compte 7-8 heures entre Labuhan Bajo et Ruteng!!
Bali-Ubud, 5 heures de trajet.
Pour ton déplacement ci-haut, pourquoi fais-tu un détour par Denpasar? Il y a surement un vol de Mataram à Labuhan!
Aussi, de Labuhan à Komodo ou Rinca, compte 5-6 heure de bateau seulement pour t'y rendre...
Je crois que tu devrais réviser un peu en tenant compte des imprévus indonésiens....!🙂

Amed c'est joli mais si tu ne fais pas de plongée sous-marine, il n'y a pas grand chose à y faire...
Perso, je n'ai vraiment pas aimé Ruteng, les gens sont bizarres...Pour Riung, on a fait un trip d'apnée de 2 jours, vraiment malade!
on est restés 3 jours à Bajawa avec un guide (William, très bon gars, il est facile à retracer rendu sur place j'en suis certaine) ils nous a tout fait visité les environs, tout est vraiment maginifiques, Red lakes, Villages Ngadas, hot springs etc..
La randonnée sur Rinca dure environ 4 heures, on a adoré ça!
Pour le Kelimutu, on est monté en auto et redescendu en auto. C'est sans doute plus agréable de redescendre à pied!!
À ubud, tu peux te prendre un daytrip, qui te visiter tout le country side, dont le Lac et le Volcan Batur, les rizières en montagnes etc....C, es tune excellente façon de tout voir en moins de temps! De 8h le matin à 21h le soir!! Bien remplie!

Pour aller de Labuanbajo jusqu'à Rinca c'est 2h30 et 4h30 à 6h pour Komodo, c'est ce que plein de monde du forum m'ont dit...ça doit dépendre du temps extérieur...!
Pour Flores, je crois qu'on va canceller l'ile.Juste aller sur Rinca et Komodo et p-e à Bajawa....si ça en vaut le coup!
Pour le déplacement de Lombok à Flores...bin j'ai trouver personne qui m'a ditque ça existait et surtout, sur les sites web des compagnies aériennes de l'indo. J'ai trouvé aucun vol de Mataram à Flores.

euh...autour d'amed? Ben si tu aimes les treks, tu peux faire le Mont Agung (trek de nuit). Il se fait à partir d'amed. Mais comme je tedis, Amed c'est vraiment mignon et tout petit, la plage est belle, tu peux prendre de longues marches...On y est restés 3 nuits. Sur Bali, on est allés seulement à Kuta beach, Ubud et Amed....
Le trajet cétait de Bali à Ubud.
Et pour Flores, Bajawa c'est vraiment super mais ça serait un peu compliqué pour toi d'aller sur Flores juste pour cette place! Bajawa est presque au centre de Flores. Mais bon, c'est vraiment ce que j'ai préféré de Flores!
😉 Et jai une question pour toi, on arrivera à Bangkok à 12h le soir, as-tu une suggestion pour un hotel pas cher et accessible facilement avec un taxi? On trouve ça vraiment chiant arriver à cette heure-là! Merci d'avance!!

Salut et remerci! He oui Bangkok à minuit! Nous aussi on c'était tapé ça. Tu vas voir ça fesse!hehehe. Bien, nous on est allés directement à Khao San Road et de là, on a trouvé de peine et de misère (car c'était les jours suivant la full moon party sur koh Pha ngan et tout le mmonde venait de revenir à khao san road, c'était plein partout) une chambre assez....ordinaire hehehe dans une des rues alentours de khao san road, grâce à un gentil thai qui nous a pris sous son aile pour nous trouver une chambre pas mal dans l'hotel d'un ami, à 2 min. à pied de kha san road, en plein milieu du bordel total de la rue khao san à 1h30 am, le chaos total.
Bref, voilà! Mais si vous n'arrivez pas juste après la full moon, ça doit être ok. Je ne me rapelle plus dut otu du nom de la rue et le nom de lhotel hehehe désolée.... Mais apparemment que le D&D Inn est très bien selon des amis qui y ont logé il y a 2-3 ans. Nous il était plein quand on y est allé.
Pour te rendre à Khao san road. Essaie d'avoir un taxi à compteur qui fonctionne, sinon un taxi à prix fixe mais rien en haut de 300B pour khao san road direct et paie pas le 40B qu'il va te demander à un poste de péage, il doit l'assumer.

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄).
Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM.

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.

• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home

I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
