Quelqu'un peut-il me dire s'il y a des consignes à bagages dans les gares du Vietnam et notamment à Na Trang. Merci.

Je presume que oui, mais si tu veux, je suis sur place, j'irai me renseigner demain.
Par contre, si tu veux laisser tes bagages pour qq jours et faire une excursion a l'interieur du pays, tu peux franchement faire confiance aux hoteliers, j'ai laisse les miens a Hue et je les retrouverai intacts.
Je profite de ta discussion pour faire une petite parenthese sur les "arnaques" au Vietnam. En effet, pour ce qui est des prix, beaucoup se font avoir s'ils ne connaissent pas le prix correct au depart, mais si vous prenez la peine de demander a votre hotelier qq prix de base (trajet en motobike, paquet de cigarettes, vetements, etc... ), vous saurez tres vite etre fermes et obtenir le vrai prix des choses. En outre, il m'arrive souvent, par distraction 😊😊😊 de me tromper de billet et de donner 100.000 VND a la place de 10.000 VND. Et bien, JAMAIS il ne m'est arrive qu'un commercant m'arnaque. A chaque fois, ils m'ont fait remarquer mon erreur et m'ont rendu la monnaie sur les 100.000 VND et pas sur les 10.000 !!! Idem avant de venir sur le net, j'ai achete un paquet de cigarettes et pensais avoir donne 20.000 VND, alors que j'ai donne 50.000 VND (il fait noir deja a cette heure) et lorsque j'ai dit a la vendeuse qu'elle me rendait de trop, elle m'a detrompee et m'a confirme que je lui avais donne 50.000 VND. Et pourtant, c'est une petite vendeuse de rue qui aurait franchement pu faire sa soiree avec mon erreur.
Donc, une chose qui doit rentre dans la caboche de certain(e)s, LES VIETNAMIENS NE SONT PAS DES ARNAQUEURS, ILS SONT TRES HONNETES, il suffit de savoir negocier !

Bonjour Pat, merci pour ta réponse.
En fait, nous avons l'intention de prendre un train de nuit Saigon/Nha Trang, d'y passer la journée et de reprendre le soir même un train de nuit Nha Trang/Da Nang (pour nous poser 2 jours à Hoi An). Nous n'aurons donc pas d'hôtel à Nha Trang, d'où l'importance de trouver une consigne à bagage en arrivant à la gare de Nha Trang... Alors si tu peux nous le confirmer, ce serait SUPER !!!
Tu vas peut-être trouver dommage de ne pas rester plus longtemps à Nha Trang mais comme on ne part que 16 jours, on préfère s'attarder à Saigon, le Delta du Mekong, Hoi An, Hué, Hanoï et la Baie d'Along. D'ailleurs, j'ai cru comprendre qu'il faisait très froid en ce moment dans le nord. Nous y serons vers le 1er mars, nous conseilles-tu d'emporter des duvets ? Et pour la Baie d'Along, nous pensions passer une nuit sur un bateau, on risque de se geler, non ? T'as déjà expérimenté ??
Bon, pour en revenir à ton coup de gueule sur l'honneteté des vietnamiens, tous ceux qui y sont allés dans mon entourage ne m'ont parlé que de leur très bon accueil et de leur gentillesse... et j'en suis moi aussi convaincue...

Je suis allee hier soir a la gare avec un ami vietnamien et on m'a confirme qu'il n'y a pas de consigne. Cependant, pour une journee, vous pouvez laisser vos bagages a la gare, mais pas pour plus longtemps. Il existe un "coin" ou il y a des employes en permanence, donc il n'y a pas de 'trop gros' risques de vol. Pour plus longtemps, c'est exclus.
Je ne sais pas si je serai toujours sur place au 1er mars, donc je prefere ne pas te proposer une solution.
Pour le Nord, prevois un pull au moins, car on nous annonce que le temps froid va encore durer quelques temps (indetermine), pour exemple ici a Nha Trang aujourd'hui, il fait couvert et venteux, il fait bon, mais les vietnamiens disent tous qu'il fait vraiment froid pour la saison. Bah, on ne va pas se plaindre, il fait plus chaud que chez nous en mai...😉😉

Le risque zero n'existe pas, bien sur, mais mon ami m'a dit que pour quelques heures dans la meme journee cela ne posait pas de probleme. Personnellement, j'ai toujours laisse mes bagages en attente dans les hotels et je n'ai jamais eu de souci, je pense qu'a la gare, c'est pareil, on te montrera un endroit ou il y a tout le temps un prepose et les seuls qui pourraient te voler sont les touristes de passage.🤪 Je serai peut etre a Nha Trang lorsque vous arriverez, dans ce cas, je m'arrangerai pour que tu puisses les laisser sous ma surveillance, quand tu connais ta date exacte, fais moi signe.

En fait, c'est ce qu'ils appellent la saison des vents et de ce fait, il fait par moments trop frais a cause de cela. Le vent amene de gros nuages qui cachent le soleil et sur la plage, ca souffle. Les seuls courageux qui se baignent sont les vietnamiens. Ce matin, par contre, il faisait superbe, le vent etait tombe et il etait tout a fait possible de se baigner. Pour la baie d'Ha Long, je ne sais pas du tout, surtout cette annee ou il fait particulierement froid.

bah franchement le train ca va...j ai passé 35hr ds le train saigon-hanoi et j ai pas eu de soucis avec l hygiene...bon ca faisait qq mois que j étais sur place et mes standards européens étaient peut etre un peu changés mais honnetement..ca passe, pas franchement pire qu un trajet strasbourg nice de nuit..

On discute de tout et de rien 10 min ... bref au final j'achète un livre : 170 000VND
Quelques minutes plus tard je me rends compte qu'il est impossible que je lui ai donné 17 billet de 10.000VND car je venais de retirer des sous ... sauf qu'en parlant de tout et de rien j'ai carrément zappé ... Je lui avais donné 17 billet de 100.000 !
Du coup j'ai payé mon livre 1.700.000 VND ...dégouté ... le vendeur était déjà loin .. mais je ne lui en voulais pas car c'est moi qui ait fait l'erreur ...
Ce n'est qu'un avis personnel mais j'ai ressenti cette mentalité tout au long de mon voyage ...je ne dirais pas arnaqueur ... mais si la situation se présente ils savent en profiter ... Une fois que l'on a cela à l'esprit aucun problème ! : Toujours être très très attentif lors de négos Enfin oui le Vietnam est formidable et ses habitants aussi !

tous les jours il prenait le taxi pour aller a gauche a droite et payait avec le billet en billet de 500.000 pour des courses de moins de 20000 et pensait laisser qq dizaines de dongs de pourboire alors qu'il en laisse pour plus de 480000 a chaque fois !!!
c'est au checkout qu'il s'en rend compte, il paie ses consommations en liquide et la fille de la reception lui rend la monnaie car il s'est trompe et la, il nous sort que sur environ plus de 20 courses en taxi, il avait donne ce meme billet !!!

C'est vrai que notre vision des choses change tres vite une fois installes en Asie. En Thailande, ils commencent a faire attention et il n'est plus question de jeter ses megots par terre. Ici, par contre, mis a part dans les restos et endroits pour touristes, si je demande un cendrier, on me regarde comme si j'etais "la denree" (voir "la soupe aux choux" film que j'adore).
Hier soir encore, nous etions dans un endroit ou, logiquement, on ne laisse pas ses crasses par terre et lorsque j'ai vu mon copain jeter tout comme ca, je lui en ai fait la remarque, disant que cela me "choquait". Et bien, pour lui, c'est normal... Sa reponse : "Pas grave, on va venir nettoyer". Le plus marrant, c'est qu'en general, chez eux, ils sont plus regardants. Peut etre parce que dans ce cas. ils doivent le nettoyer eux-memes😉😉😉

L'employée vous remet une clé et garde une autre clé car il existe 2 cadenas. Il faut ouvrir les 2 cadenas pour ouvrir la consigne.

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before: - Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees. Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands. Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way). Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan. Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide). Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre. Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island. Day 10 – Head to Semporna. Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai. Day 15 – Bohey Dulang. Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous. I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing. I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture. But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary. If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.

For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!

Sandakan → Sepilok: No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??
Sandakan → Semporna: From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄). Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM. Where do I board, and where does it drop me off?
Semporna → Tawau: Found this via AI—is it legit? No online booking, as far as I can tell. Minivans leave from a stop in the Jalan Hospital area, near the Milimewa supermarket, supposedly???? And when you arrive, does it drop you at **Sabindo Square** in Tawau?????

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
