Corsica or Italy in May 2025

I’ve been to Corsica once (Bonifacio) and Italy once (Tuscany), and I have great memories of both. I’d love to go back to one of these places, but this time on a road trip (with my car).

I enjoy walking (nothing too intense like 8-hour hikes), wandering around nature or cities at random, local crafts and specialties, a little beach time, lots of food and culinary discoveries, meeting people, music, and dancing (Latin).

This is the first time I’m posting here to find a travel buddy—up until now, I’ve mostly traveled solo or met up with friends already on location. It could be a great way to share the experience. I’m open to some planning to outline the itinerary, but also leaving room to adjust based on what feels good in the moment or any opportunities that come up. So, I’m thinking of booking accommodations last-minute sometimes—Airbnb, guesthouses, hotels, camping, etc.

Everything’s on the table, and I’d love to chat about it.

Hope to see you soon! Raphaël

Hi Rafaël, Your search matches my way of traveling in every way. I’ve got a week off between May 1st and 11th and wanted to get away, but not too far (another project... I actually posted the ad for it). If you’re up for exchanging ideas and seeing if we’re on the same wavelength, I’d love to. I’ve already been to Corsica twice, but it’s been a while. Otherwise, I was thinking of Faro, which I don’t know yet.

Hi Pascale, Thanks for your message. I’ll use *tu* since you started ;). We actually have pretty similar travel goals. I checked out your post about Vietnam—it looks amazing. If I ever go, I’d love to combine it with Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand, but that’d take a longer trip, so I’m saving it for retirement! As for Portugal, I’ve been there three times, including the Algarve where Faro is. To be honest, I was a little disappointed. I lived in Brazil for two years (a while ago) and was looking for the same vibe I had there, but I found the place lacked authenticity, even though it was really pretty. I preferred the north, around Porto. I also loved how you spelled my name, the Brazilian way (with an "f" instead of "ph")! Portugal’s still a nice and affordable country, so it could be an option, though Corsica remains my first choice. Your availability might work for me—I’ll need to confirm with my team at work. As you said, we should make sure we’re on the same wavelength to handle a few days together ;). To be frank, I’m still not 100% sure about using this system since I’ve often traveled solo. I’m not great with networks, but I can give you my name if you want to check my Facebook profile (Raphaël Planson), or send you some photos of me in environments I love to give you an idea of who I am. Your message was a nice break—I’m heading back to my files now. Have a good evening

Hi Rafaël (I insist since it brings back great memories for you and you like it). What can I say? Before moving on to step 2 (figuring out if we’d be compatible), we need to tackle step 1—whether you want to travel solo or with someone. Maybe step 2 will depend on step 1. ;) No, I’m not trying to confuse you. But I can’t decide for you. As you’ve probably gathered, I don’t overthink things. After all, we’re talking about a vacation, right? I get that you’re looking for more authenticity after living in exile for 2 years. The more I travel, the more I crave adventure—but not alone. Faro has become super trendy. That said, all sunny countries near borders have become popular. I don’t think I’ve found the right profile on FB... Have a great evening too! 😊

Hi Pascale, You're right, we need to be pragmatic and tackle point 1 first 😊. I just realized anyone can see our messages! I’ll get back to you in a private message—right now I’m on my phone and that option isn’t working. Have a great day
