tu seras dans un coin de pays bien agréable, les gens sont chaleureux et sociable. et on un fort accent ce qui te dépaysera des plus complet.
pour l'employabilité se sera a voire sur place ou sera rendu l'économie a ce moment là, car c'est une région qui est très affecter par la crise économique.
l'université est très réputer.
tu sera a environ 5 hrs de montréal.
tout est une question de perception, il n'y a pas de mauvaise situation.
J'ai quelques infos qui pourraient t'être utiles... je suis originaire de St-Félicien, qui est dans la même région que Chicoutimi, et j'y ai habité 2 ans!
D'abord, tu dois savoir que tu vas te retrouver dans une région relativement éloignée... à 2h45 de Québec, 5h00 de Montréal. Par contre, ça a ses avantages: si tu aimes la nature, les grands espaces, tu vas être servie! Il y a pleins de choses à visiter près de là: Tadoussac et ses baleines, le fjord, il y a des croisières... tu ne t'ennuieras pas, c'est certain. Aussi, même si la région est plutôt petite en population (environ 100 000 personnes) Chicoutimi est la plus grosse ville et un peu le point central de la région, donc il y a beaucoup de commerces, un hôpital, du transport en commun, etc.
Le plus gros avantage est certainement les gens. Ils sont hyperaccueillants, ils s'entraident, tu vas te trouver une groupe rapidement. Si j'ai un conseil à te donner: demande à avoir une place dans les résidences de l'université. Il y a beaucoup d'étudiants qui y habitent et la vie communautaire est très remplie. En plus, tu es directement sur le campus. Il y a des bars, des cafés où tu pourras rencontrer des gens qui te prendront sous leur aile!
Je sais que beaucoup d'étudiants internationnaux profitent des faibles frais de scolarité de l'UQAC (même si pour toi, comparativement en France, les frais pourraient te sembler plutôt élevés, ils sont parmi les plus bas au Québec) mais aussi du coût de la vie qui est beaucoup moins cher que dans les grands centres... les restos, le cinéma, le logement (pour ce dernier on peut presque couper de moitié pour les résidences étudiantes!). Ces deux conditions réunies, on retrouve de petites communautés des différentes nationalités qu'on retrouve sur le campus. Donc, tu y rencontreras des compatriotes!
Pour ce qui est de la renommée de l'université, ça dépend en quoi tu étudies. Pour ce qui touche l'aluminium, la foresterie, l'enseignement, c'est excellent. Par contre, l'université est moins bien cotée pour des programmes comme socio ou psycho, mais c'est toujours en comparaison avec des universités dont les moyens sont astronomiques comparés à l'UQAC ( je pense entre autres à l'université de Montréal ou l'université Laval: ce sont aussi des universités privées)
Pour ce qui est du travail, il y a 2 choses: 1) tu veux travailler durant tes études:si tu n'es pas trop difficile, tu trouveras certainement un emploi sur le campus ou dans des commerces. 2) si c'est pour un emploi une fois ton diplôme obtenu, encore là, ça dépend de ton domaine! si tu étudies en enseignement, tu travailleras certainement, peut-être pas à temps plein les premières années, mais tu réussiras. Si tu as un diplôme en histoire, ce sera plus ardu! Si tu me donnes plus d'infos, je pourrai te donner des références qui pourraient t'aider. Lorsque j'ai habité à Chicoutimi, j'ai beaucoup travaillé avec les personnes déficientes intellectuelles: si le domaine t'intéresse, j'ai quelques contacts à te donner.
Pour ce qui est de l'accent, ce sera à toi de voir... peu importe où tu iras au Québec, tu vas entendre l'accent! Par contre, j'ai rencontré beaucoup de touristes Français lorsque j'habitais là-bas et la plupart m'ont dit que l'accent de la région était nettement plus comprhensible pour eux que l'accent de Montréalais par exemple.
Je ne saurais trop te conseiller d'y aller... si tu veux vivre une expérience "bien québécoise", c'est un excellent endroit.

Je vis actuellement dans la grande région de Montréal (Québec, Canada) pour les études mais j'ai vécu et je suis natif en fait de la région du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean (Chicoutimi) et si tu veux mon avis, OUI À 210%, GO FOR IT! C'est probablement une des régions les plus francophones de l'Amérique du Nord alors tu ne t'y perderas pas trop. La vie là-bas est vraiment cool, et le coût de la vie est moins dispendieux que partout ailleurs au Québec. L'Université du Québec à Chicoutimi a vraiment beaucoup de charme. En fait, c'est une université récente alors plusieurs pavillons sont neufs. Sur le site internet : www.uqac.ca, tu vas voir cependant que les programmes sont peu nombreux...car le Saguenay est un faible bassin de population (comparativement à Montréal ou Québec). Pour ce qui est du placement, j'avoue que dans le contexte de récession actuelle, ce n'est pas si évident et plusieurs postes ont été supprimés au Saguenay. Il faudrait te renseigner sur des opportunités de parainage étudiants par exemple. Mais de toute évidence, ce n'est pas chose impossible. En souhaitant que je t'aille convaincu!!!!
P.S. Montréal est une belle ville, et cosmopolite et population intense etc etc etc....mais cela ne battera jamais les charmes de la nature de Chicoutimi. D'ailleurs, je t'encourage d'aller visiter Montréal et Québec qui sont respectivement à 5h et 2h30 de voiture de Chicoutimi. :) Bonne soirée.

Côté T°, il fait régulièrement en dessous de -25°, voire -30/-35°, mais surtout il y a beaucoup de vent, ce qui fait d'autant plus baisser le ressenti.

Pour te rediriger vers une maîtrise, ailleurs: ça dépend de tes notes, principalement, et du domaine de spécialisation qui t'intéresse. Certaines universités ont leurs spécialités. Par exemple, pour tout ce qui touche la gestion coopérative, ils sont très forts à l'Université de Sherbrooke, avec une chaire de recherche, etc. Donc, je crois que ça dépend surtout de toi, ce ne sera pas l'UQAC qui sera une embûche à ta candidature.
Pour la température: je ne suis pas aussi pessimiste que la personne qui a répondu avant moi. Les -20 sont courants, j'entends par là qu'en janvier et février, ça peut arriver tous les jours. Les -30 sont normaux, mais moins fréquents. Pour ce qui est des -35... ça arrive, mais pas 10 fois dans le même hiver. Et on se débrouille autrement: on évite de sortir et on s'habille chaudement! Pour le déplacement à bicyclette, ce sera certainement difficile à partir de novembre, jusqu'en avril... Il y a un excellent réseau de transport à commun à Chicoutimi, qui couvre l'université et tous les points d'intérêts: centres commerciaux, centre-ville, bars, lieux culturels, etc. Tu peux très bien te débrouiller sans voiture! Le prix de la passe est très raisonnable: 48$ pour les étudiants. Et l'université est proche de tout, donc ce n'est pas un problème de se déplacer à pied.

Pour les démarches d'immigration: je n'en ai aucune idée...
Pour les activités extrascolaires: il y a plusieurs groupes sur le campus, tu as plusieurs choix (groupes artistiques, environnementaux, socio-politiques, etc.). Pour les installations sportives: il y a un complexe à l'UQAC, il y en a quelques-unes au cégep (collège) et la ville offre des terrains de soccer (ou de foot pour toi ;)) et des patinoires en quantité industrielle. Je pense que de ce côté, tu te débrouilleras.
Pour le logement: c'est à toi de voir, mais je pense sincèrement que les résidences universitaires sont la meilleure option pour les étudiants étrangers. Ce n'est pas cher, tout est compris (téléphone, câble, internet, électricité, etc.) pour un montant fixe, tu partages des aires communes (salon, cuisine, salle à manger et 2 salles de bain) avec 3 autres étudiants, et vous avez chacun votre chambre. Les aires communes sont entièrement meublée et ta chambre comprend au minimum un lit, un bureau de travail et un garde-robe. Aussi, ça te garantit une place à toi, dans un logement décent, propre et bien entretenu. Si tu loues à distance ou à la dernière minute, tu as toujours le risque des mauvaises surprises! Il suffit de faire la demande pour un place. Je ne suis pas certaine qu'à Chicoutimi on puisse le faire, mais certaines universités sont soucieuses du pairage: ils pourraient par exemple te mettre en colocation avec des gens plus de ton âge, ou de ta nationalité, ou ton domaine d'étude... Cela dit, c'est un bail de 4 mois, donc au bout de 4 mois tu peux choisir des colocs et monter toi-même ton pairage. Tu es directement sur le campus, à quelques minutes de ta salle de cours. c'est donc un accès immédiat pour les bibliothèques, les installations sportives, etc. Près de l'UQAC, mais hors-campus, tu peux te trouver facilement un logement. Si tu choisis le centre-ville, tu es plus éloigné du campus. Tu devras utiliser le transport en commun ou ta bicyclette. Les logements sont un peu plus chers.
Parlant de bicyclette... je ne sais pas si on t'a dit que c'était très côteux à Chicoutimi. Il y a plusieurs pentes, très raides, partout dans la ville. Pour de déplacer à bicyclette, tu devras avoir de bons mollets et de bons freins! L'endroit le moins en pente est près de l'université et des centres commerciaux, ça se trouve sur un genre de plateau. Mais le centre-ville à vélo: ouf!
Je m'apprête aussi à aménager à Chicoutimi avec ma copine pour étudier à l'UQAC. Nous sommes étudiants français et nous cherchons donc un appartement à louer durant 5 mois. Mais la plupart des propriétaires avec qui nous sommes entrés en contact recherchent des locataires pour un bail d'un an...
J'aimerais donc savoir s'il est facile de trouver quelqu'un à qui céder son bail ? Ou de trouver des bails de 5-6 mois ?
