Ce que j'appelle le circuit de tout le monde, c'est le circuit non personnalisé... genre de tel endroit à tel endroit... sans y ajouter les petits trucs que peu de gens connaissent.. parce qu'ils ont passé du temps sur place...
Avec un peu d'entrainement, nous sommes tous capables de sortir ce genre de circuit...mais personnalisé... ça c'est autre chose.
C'est pour ça que je trouve dommage que les nouveaux venus tombent dans ce genre de "panneau"...enfin bref...
Quant aux personnes qui voyageaient avant que le net existent, elles vont sûrement continuer dans ce sens.
Ce que le net a apporté de pire aux voyages, c'est ceux qui essayent de se faire mousser en étalant des connaissances qu'ils n'ont pas, ou très peu..

Et puis préparer ses vacances, en faisant des recherches sur le lieux, je trouve que quelquepart, ça fait aussi partie du plaisir du voyage, ça permet de rever avant de partir...

Si t'as pas aimé les Universal Studios mais que tu veux quand même faire une activité "cinéma" en dehors du chinese theater il y a aussi les Warner Studios a visité.
C'est le même prix qu'universal (environ $50) mais ce n'est PAS un parc d'attraction, c'est des "vrais" studios.
Tu fais un petit tour en en voiturette avec un guide mais contrairement à chez Universal tu descend aussi parfois sur les sets (pour les amateurs de séries: friends, urgences, seinfeld, etc). Les explications étaient beaucoup plus intéressantes mais ça ça depend peut être du guide, le notre était génial.
Bref moi qui n'est pas trop aimé les studios universal non plus j'ai grandement apprécié les Warner 😉
Pour yosemite je ne comprend pas trop ton aversion, j'ai bien compris que t'étais pas fan de randos, mais le côté trop "minéral" ??? que dire alors du grand canyon et des autres parcs de l'Arizona et de l'Utah ???
Enfin ça depend peut être de la saison où tu y as été en juin les cascasdes marchent à plein régime et sont vraiment impressionantes, en aout elles sont quasi à sec ...
Sur ce amuses-toi bien dans ton voyage ! Et si jamais tu vas aux studios Warner finalement, tu me diras ce que t'en as pensé comparé à Universal 🙂

Je ne veux pas faire le mm circuit que tt le monde, juste avoir d idées de ce qui est plus ou moins bien. Maintenant on en discute très "très" souvent avec mon mari et on fait à nos envies.
J'ai eu l'impression pdt un moment qu'il y avait d polémiques à mon sujet. Je ne le prend pas du tout mal, mais il y avait commes des "tensions" sur le forum.

Je souhaitai savoir quel est le temps pendant la periode de septembre. Car nous souhaitons surement partir du 10 septembre jusqu'au 26 septembre environ? Mais si le temps n'est pas idéal à cette période nous verrons pour d'autres dates.
Autre chose: dans le guide Michelin ils parlent d'un Pass annuel pour e 50 dollars donnant accès à tous les parcs et monument nationaux. Connaissez vous cela?
Le pass à $50 est un super deal sachant que sinon l'entrée des grands parcs coute environ $20 par voiture (pour une semaine souvent).
Donc en 2 ou 3 parcs tu as rentabilisé ton pass.
A savoir cela dit le pass couvre tous les Parcs Nationaux mais ne marchent pas avec certains National Monument ni avec les States Parcs.
Merci pour ton info, je vais inscrire Warner au programme (au détriment d'autre chose, on va voir). Concernant Yosemite, El capitan, le 1/2 Dome, ainsi que toutes les routes qui serpentent dans la montagne (grise) ne m'emballent pas, mais alors pas du tout. A contratrio, le GC, la MV, Red Rocks, etc ... ont des couleurs bien plus chaudes, et j'aime ça. Mon avis est personnel, et tout à fait subjectif, comme tous les avis.

Il y a un mois (du 26 Sept au 5 Oct) je suis parti dans l'ouest avec ma copine. Comme les autres membres, je te conseille d'organiser ton voyage toi-meme. On a soumis notre circuit sur le forum, on a recu un max de conseils et de renseignements et ensuite on a reserve les hotels (expedia.fr) et la voiture (autoescape.fr) sur internet.
Je te confirme aussi aue les americains sont tres accueillant et qu'ils seferont un plaisir de t'aider des que tu en auras besoin.
On est parti 10 jours avec depart et arrivee a Las Vegas.
On est reste 2 jours a Las Vegas, puis on est pati faire notre petit circuit et on est revenu a Las Vegas pour 3 jours.
Voila ce que nous avons vu:
Jour 1: Las Vegas - Grand Canyon (grand canyon village, coté sud)
Jour 2: Grand Canyon - Monument Valley (nuit a Kayenta)
Jour 3: Monument Valley - Page (Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon)
Jour 4: Page - Bryce Canyon
Jour 5: Bryce - Las Vegas
J'avais imprime tous les itineraires sur mapquest.com et on n'a eu aucun probleme a trouver notre chemin.
Les distances parcourues n'etaient pas trop longues et nous permettaient de bien profiter des differents sites et de nous arreter en chemin quand il y avait qqch de beau a voir.
Certains vont dire que nous sommes restes beaucoup trop longtemps a Las Vegas, mais nous on y serait bien reste encore une semaine de plus... et pourtant on n'est pas joueurs (on a joue 1$, juste pour dire). Mais c'est magnifique de ce balader dans ces palaces luxueux et de profiter des spectacles et de l'ambiance.
On etait au Tuscany Suite Hotel sur Flamingo Street, a 10 minutes a pied du Strip (au niveau du Cesar Palace, Bellagio). C'est bien mieux situe que le circus circus qui est tres eloigne des principaux casinos. La chambre etait plus grande que notre appart !!! 70m2, salon, cuisine, lit kingsize, super piscine... et le tout pour 50$ la nuit! Je peux t'envoyer des photos si tu me donnes ton adresse email.
Lors de notre circuit on dormait dans des Best Western, sauf au Grand Canyon on nous etions dans le parc au Yavapai Lodge.

Je te remercie beaucoup pour ton aide, mais je connais très bien la région, la parcourant depuis de nombreuses années et trois semaines à chaque fois. Aujourd'hui j'en suis à rechercher les lieux que je ne connais pas encore et qui sont en dehors des grandes routes comme toutes les balades dans Grand Staircase et Capitole Reef.
Pour visiter Arches NP et Canyonlands NP, Moab, c'est nickel pour dormir.

Pour le p'tit dej, beaucoup de resto proposent des petits déjeuners copieux à Moab, nickel pour commencer la journée. Je m'étais basée sur les adresses du guide du routard, et j'ai fait de tres bon repas à Moab (p'tit dej et diner)

Tu ne seras pas la seule sur le site, mais lors de ta première soirée à Moab, si tu n'arrives pas trop tard, ou alors le lendemain, voici ce que je te conseille : va admirer le coucher de soleil sous la Delicate Arch dans Arches NP. Franchement, c'est beau ! Il doit y avoir 15 minutes de marche pour rejoindre l'arche en question, arrive un peu en avance, et attend sagement le coucher de soleil, les couleurs sont merveilleuses !

En fait, je ne vois rien à redire à ton circuit, mis à part les suggections que je t'ai déjà faites sur ce post... Il me parait bien ficelé.
Avis personnel : tu as 2 jours à Las Vegas dans ton circuit... Je ne sais pas combien de temps ton re mariage va prendre, mais je trouve que si on ne joue pas dnas les casinos, on a vite fait le tour de Las Vegas... Enfin je n'y suis resté qu'une journée, et ça m'a amplement suffit... Mais bon, comme tu as pu le comprendre au travers de mes differents message, je sui plus nature que ville 😉
De l'avis de Fabienne, 4 pages c'est long. Ton circuit est correct. Laisse murir quelques semaines et reviens dessus. Tes envies peuvent varier et une bonne idée paraitre moins attractive quelques mois plus tard. 😛

Il n'y a pas d'avis tranché sur les questions que tu te poses.
Pensez vous que partir pour le printemps, c déjà trop tard (billet avion etc etc)? les prix les plus bas sont partis mais selon la destination précise il reste des prix suffisemment attractifs. Donc "c'est encore jouable" en terme de prix.
Pensez vous que c judicieux de se coltiner les vacances US (à peu près les mêmes que les notres) ou c vraiment à proscrire, (place dans hotel etc etc) en sachant que le circuit serait peu ou prou le même que ceux déjà cités (NP et grandes villes)? La vraie raison pour d'éviter les vacances US c'est surtout pour la Floride et les stations balnéaires. Ensuite, selon les régions ou les villes il y a des fêtes. Tu ne peux pas batir tout un projet en "évitant" soigneusement chaque manifestation sous le prétexte que ça serai plus cher. En ce qui concerne l'Ouest des USa, le printemps est la bonne (meilleure) saison avec l'automne.
qu'entends tu par meilleurs prix déjà parti parce que sur Air france les prix sont encore de 450€ pour Mars-Avril
Quant aux vacances c t juste pour la place en terme de complet au pas pour les hotels pour un séjour itinérant ou tu as besoin de faire une location tout les jours ds un lieu different. Après le reste je m'en fout
Après avoir fait une dizaine de voyages dans les parcs nationaux, voici le tour qui selon moi est le plus adapté, malgré deux journées aux kilomètrages importants.
Arrivée à Las Vegas -> Zion -> Page -> Grand Canyon -> Sedona -> Canyon de Chelly -> Monument Valley -> Moab -> Capitol Reef -> Bryce Canyon -> Salt Lake City -> Grand Teton -> Yellowstone -> South Lake Tahoe -> Bodie / Mono Lake -> Yosemite -> San Francisco
Tout ceci est faisable en 3 semaines, rajouter 2-3 jours pour être vraiment comfortables.
Un one-way avec une voiture de location est GRATUIT de Las Vegas à San Francisco, on évite Los Angeles et son enfer urbain, et on profite à fond de cette partie du globe si mangifique.

We’ve planned to visit Montmorency Falls and Île d'Orléans.
I’d love to hear what route you’d recommend for the drive from Sherbrooke to Quebec City—we’ll have the whole day to take it easy.

Nowadays, all rental cars come with GPS, but do you know if you can use it without paying for the GPS rental? I have no idea since I always use my own!
After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
