J'avais déjà fait un post dans "voyager avec des enfants" mais les idées fusionnent, alors voilà mon plan...
Nous pensons réserver du 05 au 16 mai 2008 à LV, mais on aurait bien voulu aller aussi à Los Angeles, parce que mine de rien j'ai peur qu'on s'ennuie un peu à LV à cause de boubou. J'aurai bien envie d'aller à Universal studios, dans un parc Disney, à Beverly hills, et un peu de plage aussi (bref la totale touristique, non ?). En regardant sur les sites de voyages on a trouvé un bon plan pour les 2 semaines à LV, mais si on veut combiner LV et LA alors là le budget explose. Quelqu'un a-t'il déjà fait ça ? Comment aller à LA depuis LV sans voiture ? on a pensé au train, qu'en pensez-vous ? Parce que nous on pensait garder notre chambre d'hôtel à LV pendant qu'on serait à LA, on en aurait loué une autre sur place pour un petit prix (enfin si on trouve cette perle), parce qu'on partirait du même aéroport qu'à l'arrivée.
Voilà, j'aimerais bien avoir votre avis sur tout cela.
Entre LV et LA il y a certainement un train (ou bus) mais cela prendra une journee complete a l'aller et une journee au retour. Sur 10 jours de vacance et avec bebe c'est pas l'ideal et il serait preferable d'utiliser un moyen de locomotion plus rapide comme l'avion. Les vols nationaux aux USA ne sont pas plus cher que le bus (ou tres peu).
Pourquoi ne pas louer une voiture? Certains te dirons qu'il est possible de visiter LA sans la voiture, moi je te dirais que c'est un enfer surtout avec un bebe (meme sans bebe).
Pourquoi arriver a Las Vegas et repartir du meme endroit si tu souhaite te rendre a Los Angeles? L'ideal est bien sur de repartir pour la France de Los Angeles, ce n'est pas plus cher (ou tres peu) et tu gagne beaucoup de temps.
Pourquoi garder une chambre a LV si vous etes a LA? C'est une double depense que je ne comprend pas sauf si tu as un super bon plan a LV qui comprend le vol + la chambre.
Est ce reelement un bon plan ce voyage de 15 jours (ou 11 je ne comprend pas bien la duree)? Les hotels a LV sont souvent tres peu cher et je ne suis pas certaine que les prix soient plus eleves si tu prend un vol aller/retour + une reservation d'hotel sans passer par un site de voyage. Peut etre si tu detaille un peu ce que tu as trouve, on pourra t'aider plus facilement et te dire si c'est vraiment une affaire ou non.
Ceci dit si tu desire rester les 11 jours a LV et faire une petite escapade, je te conseillerais vivement San Francisco plutot que LA sans voiture et avec bebe...
Un autre choix d'escapade, est le Sud de l'Arizona, Tuson en particulier.
C'est en effet le pays des cactus et justement à cette période de l'année (début Mai), c'est merveilleux, car ils sont tous en fleurs : les saguaros avec de magnifiques et énormes fleurs blanches, les organ pipes avec des fleurs très nombreuses, rougeatres.
Facilement accessible en avion de puis LAS pour pas cher, en 2-3 jours sur place avec une voiture de loc., tu peux faire un tour rapide de ces parcs ; il faut aussi prévoir une matinée au "desert museum" de Tucson, car là aussi c'est la meilleure période pour voir beaucoup d'animaux, plus dynmamiques que l'été, beaucoup d'oiseaux, et beaucoup de plantes, souvent en fleur.

Je vais depuis de nombreuses années aux états unis (famille oblige) et sans voiture on fait rien même pas aller à la plage ( c'est pas Dauville)De plus a moins de prendre un vol intérieur, comment voulez tu aller à LA.
Pour visiter l'ouest (je pense que c'est votre objectif) Il faut un vol pour les états unis, une voiture pour circuler.
Il n'y pas d'alternative si ce n'est les circuits des tours opérators.
Prendre un billet pour une ville et repartir par une autre n'est pas un pb, idem pour la location d'un véhicule il n'y pas de frais d'abandon

Les parcs c'est une bonne idée aussi, peut-être plus cool pour un enfant.
Un "bon plan" tout paye pour 12 jours a Las Vegas et seulement Las Vegas n'est pas vraiment un bon plan a mes yeux meme si j'adore cette ville. J'y suis alle plusieurs fois et notre dernier sejour a dure +de 10 jours malgre nous. En effet, nous avons du y rester tout ce temps car nous nous sommes marie et nous ne pouvions pas attendre de recevoir nos papiers de mariage a la maison, donc nous sommes reste sur place. Nous sommes tout deux tres joueurs mais je dois avouer que au bout de 7 jours, apres avoir depense notre budget "jeux" on tournait un peu en rond dans la ville et avons fini les 3 derniers jours dans la piscine de l'hotel toute la journee (tres froide d'ailleur) et nos soirees devant la tele ...
Las Vegas est une ville de lumiere, de jeu et de fete au milieu du desert. Ce qui veut dire que avec un bebe, sans voiture et avec un hotel deja paye pour 15 jours vous allez vite finir aussi vos journees a la piscine de l'hotel. Bien sur il y a quelques sites a visiter dans la journees pres de LV (comme Red Rock Canyon par ex) mais sincerement ca ne vous prendra jamais 12 jours.
Les prix d'une chambre d'hotel a LV peuvent aller de -30$ a $$$$. Avec un coupon nous avons meme eu une super chambre a 29$ les deux nuit pour une duree illimite (nous sommes reste les 4 dernieres nuits pour 60$ tout compris). Tu peux aussi avoir un tres bon hotel pour le meme prix, et parfois moins cher qu'un petit motel. En comptant en moyenne 50$ par nuit sur 10 nuit (je compte 10 nuits car en general sur ce genre de plan tu perds la premiere et la derniere dans l'avion) ca fera dans les 500$ de logement. Quel est l'hotel de ton bon plan?
Le petit dejeuner (qui bien souvent est suffisament copieux pour etre le repas de midi) n'est pas non plus tres cher (-10$ si c'est un repas de midi et beaucoup moins si c'est un simple petit dejeune) et un autre interet est de prendre ses repas a divers endroits et a tes heures.
Donc la je compte environs 600$ (+/-500 euros) pour le logement et repas de midi. Il vous reste alors environs 1500 euros pour les billets d'avion. Je ne connais pas les tarifs actuels mais il y a certainement moyen de trouver un vol pour deux et un bebe dans ces prix la. Les tarifs en mai ne sont pas aussi eleves qu'en juillet/aout.
Aussi, meme si ca te reviens un plus cher de prendre un voyage vous meme sans passer par ce "bon plan", la difference au niveau de la qualite est tellement enorme que je n'hesiterais pas une seconde!
Mes conseils pour ce voyage sont:
Louer une voiture car aux USA la voiture est indispensable. On peut vivre sans a LV (c'est mieux avec mais bon) mais on ne peux pas vivre sans a Los Angeles (meme si certains l'ont fait je ne le conseille pas, surtout avec un bebe).
Prendre 3 nuit d'hotel a LV pour votre mariage et quelques visites.
Ensuite partir dans un road trip aux choix. Ma proposition serait de faire une boucle des parcs nationaux autout de LV comme Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonland, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon (la boucle est a adapter a votre timming bien sur, car en 10 jours on ne peut pas tous les faire).
Si tu decide de faire un autre circuit, par exemple vers la Californie, mon conseil sera de prendre le vol retour de LA ou San Francisco.
Dans tout les cas et en precisant que j'adore Las Vegas, je ne te conseille pas 12 jours complet a LV. Meme si tu gagne 100$ avec ce "bon plan", tu les perdras rapidement en allant 4 jours a LA (2 jours de transports et 2 jours sur place) et en prenant des nuits d'hotels doublees.
Audrey, l'hôtel que nous aurions pu avoir est le Desert Rose Resort, on l'avais choisi parce qu'il y a une kitchenette dans la chambre.
Mais j'ai encore eu une autre idée. On pourrait aller d'abord à Las Vegas pour se marier, du lundi au vendredi, puis aller à Los Angeles jusqu'au jeudi suivant, , puis retour à Vegas pour avion départ. En effet, c'est moins cher de prendre aller-retour que de changer d'aéroport. Pour les activités, j'ai vu sur le site d'universal studios une offre pour un citypass où on peut visiter les 2 parcs Disney + Universal + Sea World + Zoo san diego ou animaux sauvages pour ... 235 $ par pers. et apparemment gratuit pour les - de 3 ans.
J'en profite pour te poser une question sur le mariage. Si on va à Los Angeles, tu penses qu'on peut retirer directement notre livret de famille si on se présente au consulat, plutôt que d'attendre qu'ils nous l'envoient à la maison ?

As tu essaye de faire une simulation de vol multi-destinations ou simplement as tu simule 1 alle simple et 1 retour simple. Si tu as simule la seconde option, en effet c'est beaucoup plus cher. Si tu as simule la premiere, je suis etonee que ce soit vraiment plus cher. En regle general arriver dans un aeroport et repartir d'un autre ne coute pas beaucoup plus cher et parfois c'est le meme prix.
Pour les parc de LA, c'est a toi de voir et en fonction de tes gouts sachant que sans voiture cela va etre difficile voir impossible de se rendre d'un point a l'autre, le Zoo de san Diego est a san Diego et non pas a LA.
Pour le livret de famille tu ne pouras pas le recuperer directement au consulat mais tu le recevra a la maison apres avoir obtenu ton Certified Abstract of Marriage (sur place ou par courier) et fait les demarches necesaires aupres du consulat.
Le certificat de mariage peut s'obtenir plus rapidement si on reste sur place mais cela depend du jour ou la personne qui vous a marie depose le dossier. Cette personne a 7 jours pour le faire et ensuite il faut attendre environ 2 jours pour recuperer son certificat de mariage original (pas celui qui t'es donne le jour du mariage mais celui enregistre par l'etat du Nevada). J'ai pu recuperer le mien au bout de 4 jours car le dossier a ete depose le lendemain de notre mariage. Ensuite il faut envoyer ce certificat et plusieurs autres documents au consulat et attendre de recevoir le livret de famille, dans mon cas cela a pris 1 mois.
Ayant procédé à la publication des bans, le Consulat est déjà en possession de votre dossier. Vous devrez ensuite lui adresser l'original de l'acte de mariage officiel américain enregistré par le Comté de Clark, intitulé "Certified Abstract of Marriage" (la traduction n'est pas exigée).
Le Consulat transcrira votre mariage sur les registres consulaires français, et vous expédiera directement à votre domicile un livret de famille et des copies certifiées conformes de votre acte de mariage. En raison du très grand nombre de mariages célébrés à Las Vegas, un délai moyen de trois mois est à prévoir pour cet envoi.
Toutefois, selon l'article 47 du Code civil français ("Tout acte de l'état civil des Français et des étrangers, fait en pays étrangers, fera foi s'il a été rédigé dans les formes usitées dans ledit pays".), vous êtes considérés comme mariés à la date de mariage précisée dans le "Certified Abstract of Marriage". L'éventuel mariage religieux en France est désormais possible.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:

- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
Thanks for advising me on the booking—should I reserve a room in the hotel or go for a cabin for the best view?

I’m planning a week-long family trip to NYC in October 2026. The focus is on museums and soaking up the New York vibe. I’ve been checking Airbnb, but the prices in Manhattan are through the roof. Since I don’t know NYC well, is it "wise" to look outside Manhattan? Any neighborhoods you’d recommend?

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

I’m planning a week in S.F. in April 2026 and I can’t figure out how to tell the cable cars—of which I understand there are three lines—apart from the trams, which I think number seven. I can’t find their individual numbers or routes anywhere.

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. Since they know the sites inside out, they took us at the right times to avoid crowds. So we could enjoy peaceful picnics at Grand Canyon viewpoints without being packed in with 200 people. Plus, on top of the must-see spots, they showed us some hidden gems that were absolutely stunning—places we never would’ve found on our own. They’re true locals who know all the best tips.
The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
