En regardant les anciens posts, deux hôtels à Page reviennent souvent:
- Bashful Bob's Motel tenu par Bob.
- Lulu's Sleep Ezze Motel tenu par Lulu.
Malheureusement les Topics sont assez anciens 2009. Qui a testé récemment ces deux hôtels (en 2011)?
J'ai regardé leur site mais pas de tarifs pour aout pour 2 personnes.
Je comptais lors de mon dernier voyage (Mai 2011) dormir dans un de ces deux hôtels.
Mais le Bashful bob n'a jamais répondu à mes mails et Lulu's sleep ezze a visiblement augmenté ses tarifs. Une chambre pour 2 coutant maintenant dans les 90$.
Je me suis donc rabattu sur le Red rock motel dans la même rue. Chambre pour 2 à 50$. Un peu vieillot, mais correct.
Malheureusement les Topics sont assez anciens 2009.
La différence essentielle c' est probablement que Bob (qui n' était déjà plus tout jeune alors) a pris 2 ans de plus ... 😉
Pour le Red Rock motel , c' est peut-être correct quand le gérant titulaire est là . Nous étions tombés sur un remplaçant en avril 2008 qui avait accepté d' héberger des Navajos ivrognes dans un appartement contigu . Que du bonheur ... 🤪 😕
Bob a peut-être pris 2 ans de +, mais surtout on constate que Lulu a augmentée ces prix depuis 2009. Pour notre séjour, c'est une réservation en haute saison: 1ère quinzaine d'Aout.
Nous avons séjourné chez Lulu en aout 2010. Nous avions payé 100$ la nuit. C'était pas donné effectivement mais nous avons "récupéré" sur le budget nourriture.
Lulu prépare le Barbecue tous les soirs. Elle vous donne une carte de réduction pour acheter la viande au supermarché du coin, vous faites vos courses, vous pouvez utiliser sa cuisine pour préparer votre repas et elle s'occupe du BBQ.
Ensuite vous vous installez sur les tables du jardins avec les autres personnes qui logent chez elle et vous passez une super soirée conviviale avec des gens venant de tous pays.
Franchement, si nous retournons sur Page, nous irons sans hésiter chez Lulu.
Nous avons dormi chez Bob en août 2010. Il nous en a fallu de la patience pour l'avoir au téléphone...
Le problème, c'est qu'il n'est pas souvent dans sa petite pièce qui lui tient lieu d'accueil....
Il vit dans sa caravane à côté..
Les chambres sont propres rien à dire de ce côté là, mais elles sont sacrément vieillottes. Si nous retournions à Page, nous ne retournerions pas chez lui même s'il est tout à fait charmant mais tête en l'air..
La première et dernière fois que nous avons séjourné chez Bashful Bob c'était en 2009. Ce n'était pas cher pour 4 (2 chambres, séjour et coin cuisine). Même en n'étant pas difficiles, nous n'avons pas eu de plaisir à y séjourner car tout était très très très fatigué, limite sale à force d'être usé. Je n'aurais pas dû regarder sous le lit car j'y ai vu une vielle couche de moutons impressionnante qui en dit long sur le zèle à utiliser l'aspirateur. Ne parlons pas de l'eau ferrugineuse ou des toilettes... Comme la plupart, j'avais été obligée de lui téléphoner de France pour réserver car il n'a jamais répondu à mes mails. Il y a certainement eu des moments dans le passé où il méritait sa popularité (puisque tout le monde se précipitait chez lui comme chez un ami) mais ce temps semble révolu. Les ans auront eu raison de lui!
Autrefois il y avait quelques bonnes places économiques honnêtes dans le coin de Bashful Bob. Certains endroits sont redevenus des appartements privés (retour aux origines quand c'étaient des maisons pour les cadres du chantier du barrage) d'autres ont changé de mains et je ne sais pas ce que cela vaut, n'ayant pas eu l'occasion de les tester. Tout ce que nous avons essayé d'autre au fil des ans nous a laissé un souvenir mitigé, même dans les motels plus récents et moins "économiques". Je suis preneur pour un bon tuyau pour une nouvelle occasion car nous aimons passer quelques nuits à Page étant donné qu'il y a tout ce qu'il faut et c'est bien placé pour rayonner vers les endroits sauvages autour du lac et plus loin.
En octobre 2010, nous avions réservé une nuit chez Bob (par téléphone). Arrivés à Page, il nous accueille très gentiment, nous donne une clé... arrivé à la chambre (un petit appartement en fait), un gros type en caleçon nous ouvre ! Il nous explique que Bob s'était trompé dans ses résas et avait attribué sa chambre à quelqu'un d'autre ! Bref, dans ce jeu de chaises musicales, qui n'avait pas d'endroit où dormir ?? Nous !! 🤪🤪🤪
Mais il a appelé son fils qui tient un motel dans la même rue, le "debbie's hide a way" : nous avons donc eu un grand appartement, à la propreté correcte, pour le même prix que chez Bob puisque l'erreur venait de lui. L'accueil était super aussi, et le patron vient discuter avec ses clients autour du patio à la nuit tombée. 🙂

Je crois que Bob mérite un hommage , comme on dit "pour l' ensemble de sa carrière" car il semble avoir été longtemps apprécié par de nombreux voyageurs .
Cela confirme aussi qu' il n' avait peut-être plus l' énergie ces dernières années pour maintenir son établissement comme par le passé , même si son accueil était resté cordial et sa personnalité attachante .
C' est vrai qu' il ne semblait pas avoir envisagé de partir un jour en retraite ...

Eh bien, en voilà une nouvelle bien triste! Ca me fait vraiment de la peine car on ne peut lui enlever qu'il était très sympathique malgré tout..
Dire que c'est Bob qui m'avait expliqué il y a quelques années, parce que je le cherchais, que Dick, le gérant du motel voisin que nous aimions beaucoup dans la rue, s'était... suicidé à cause d'un diabète très méchant!
Comme le motel de Dick était notre point d'attache à Page, nous lui avions confié du matériel de camping pour nos futurs passages... Exit le matériel... et son motel est redevenu habitations.
Arf... triste pour Bob, je me souviens l'avoir eu au téléphone en avril ou mai dernier.
Nous avons dormi 2 nuits chez Lulu en aout dernier. Son célèbre mari n'étant pas présent, on s'est douté d'un décès. C'est elle qui reprenait le barbecue, qu'elle fait "gratuitement" chaque soir, il suffit de lui apporter sa viande (avant 19h max d'ailleurs). On a jamais testé le barbecue puisque ça a toujours été trop tôt pour nous et nos journées bien remplies.
En tout cas, surement à cause du décès, elle n'était pas aussi aimable que l'on a pu le lire ici sur les différents topics, ce qui a fait qu'on a été assez déçu de notre passage dans ce motel (pour un prix un peu élevé, il est vrai).

Pas très réjouissant tout cela: décès de Bob et du mari de Lulu. Je vais laisser tomber le Bashful. Je vais continuer à regarder. Je suis comme Martine si quelqu'un connait une bonne adresse a Page, je suis preneur.
Quand nous y sommes allés, le mari de Lulu n'était déjà plus là mais l'accueil a été très sympathique. Outre le barbecue très convivial, Lulu nous a indiqué les balades à faire à Page et ses chambres sont très bien tenues.
Tout comme toi, je cherchais un hébergement sur Page pour aout prochain et sachant que Bob n'est plus j'ai hésité un instant à me rabattre chez son fils au Debbies Hyde a way donc j'ai envoyé un mail pour plus de renseignements, à 149 USD la nuit j'ai trouvé le tarif un peu excessif et je me suis rabattue sur leur voisin (au sens propre cf googlemap) le Red Rock Motel. Effectivement ça n'a pas l'air le grand luxe mais à 55usd la nuit tout compris je trouve que ça vaut le coup de tenter...Quand prévoyez vous d'y être ?
On sera la-bas vers la mi-aout. Pour le moment, nous avons réserve que le Yellowstone et Grand Canyon. Nous allons nous occuper de nos réservations pendant les vacances de Noël.
Nous reprenons l'avion le 15/08 en fin d'après-midi à L.A.

j'ai séjourné 2 nuits au Red Rock Motel en avril dernier. notre studio était propre et bien équipé. parking devant la porte. code d'accès internet. rien à redire...je n'hésiterai pas à y retourner lors d'un prochain séjour dans la région... il y a tant de choses à faire!!
les tarifs sont raisonnables 55 $ TTC la nuit, paiement cash (préférence des patrons).

J'ai séjourné au Bob Bashful en mars 2011 et j'en ai été ravi, ainsi que mes 3 amis. Un très grand appartement assez vieillot style année 60 mais très propre et confortable. J'apprends ici avec émotion son décès. Je l'ignorais et continuais à conseiller ce motel très spécial qui replonge dans les USA des années 50-60 (c'est sûr, c'est assez vieillot et loin des chambres aseptisées des grandes chaînes de motels mais tellement plus typiques).
Je souhaite aussi rendre hommage à Bob que j'ai rencontré à cette occasion et qui était une personne vraiment sympathique et avec plein d'humour. C'est sûr qu'il semblait bien fatigué et usé mais très jeune d'esprit.
Nous avions bien discuté et rigolé avec lui et c'était vraiment quelqu'un de très serviable et très généreux : nous avions réservé pour un appartement pour 4 mais avec 3 lits et lorsque nous avons pris possession de l'appart, il n'y avait que 2 chambres avec un seul lit dans chaque. Lorsque j'ai expliqué le problème à Bob, il s'est excusé de sa méprise et nous a prêté gratuitement son ancien appartement (puisqu'il vivait dans un mobil-home) sans supplément et en conservant le premier appart. Du coup, nous avons eu 2 appartements pour 54$ la nuit, tout compris et même un stylo à chacun avec le logo du motel. Vraiment cool et loin des profiteurs que l'on trouve parfois dans l'hôtellerie. Du coup, le dernier jour, nous lui avons laissé un bon pourboire pour le remercier de son accueil.
Adieu Bob et merci à toi pour tes bons et loyaux services. J'espère trouver encore d'aussi bonnes et authentiques adresses sur Page lors de mon prochain séjour à Page.

Bon pour page, il y a tellement d hotel sur la rue montant le Macdo (a gauche est il la encore ?), vous avez l'embarras du choix, j'avais logé dans different holiday inn ... propre, simple pour passer uen nuit ou deux ... :)

nous avons séjourné 2 nuits au Red rock motel en août dernier . Nous ne sommes pas difficiles et tout à été parfait pour nous . Nous étions 4 et nous avons eu un logement avec une chambre très correcte + une grande pièce avec un autre lit ainsi qu'un micro onde + frigo . Nous avions un petit coin sur le devant de la porte avec une table . Donc repas possible à l'exterieur ! La voiture garée devant .Cela reste très simple et tout à fait correct si on ne recherche pas le luxe . ( pas de piscine et pas de possibilité de restaurant sur place )Pour info l'établissement de lulu est juste en face de l'autre côté de la rue . Pour le calme pas de problème la rue est très calme et nous avons dormi sans aucun soucis . Le patron qui reste très "cool" est très sympa et prêt à rendre service . On a apprécié la Wifi gratuite . En ce qui concerne '"l'intendence " tout est à proximité ( et pour vous mesdames il y a 2 laveries toutes proches )
Heureusement que ce n'est pas un mec qui a sorti ça, il aurait pu être traité de macho 😄

Moi aussi je suis attristé par le décès de Bob ! Nous y avons été en 2009 aussi et on a beaucoup aimé. On avait l'impression de revenir dans le temps, l'Amerique comme on l'aime. C'est aussi ça qu'on cherche dans l'Ouest, enfin pour nous en tout cas.
Rien a dire sur la propreté des lieux c'était nickel. Et l'accueil de Bob, super !
On a pu papotéplusieurs fois. Je me rappelle qu'un des soirs ou nous sommes rentré on l'a retrouvé tout tremblant et choqué, Mickael Jackson venait de décéder ! Sacré souvenir..
On a aussi reçu deux stylos aux couleurs de l'Amerique et du Bashful hôtel..

Quand j'ai réservé - j'ai envoyé mon numéro de carte bancaire + date d'expiration en deux mails séparés. En arrivant, nous avons payé cash, elle fait ou elle faisait un discount pour les paiements cashs.
Par contre, l'accueil a été assez simple. Elle ne fait plus de barbecue le soir. Elle nous avait donné le nom d'un restaurant mexicain ou la reine d'espagne était venu manger. Excellent le restaurant - malheureusement j'ai oublié le nom. Un des meilleurs restaurant mexicain. Peut-etre quelqu'un se rapelle du nom.
Chambre propre mais au final pas une de nos meilleures réservations.
De toute façon sur Page, il y a de très nombreux motel si tu ne veux pas envoyer ton numéro de carte bleue.

L’intérêt du lieu était que Lulu faisait le barbecue tous les soirs (on s'achetait sa viande et elle la faisait cuire). On se retrouvait ainsi à table avec les autres pensionnaires de l'hôtel de différentes nationalités, c'était super sympa.
Il est clair que si Lulu ne fait plus les barbecues conviviaux, cela doit enlever du charme au séjour!!! Cependant, elle est très sympa et le quartier des vieux hôtels fait très "couleur locale"!! (mais peut être la quartier a-t-il changé depuis 3 ans !!)

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park

My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. As you can see, we're heading back from September 6th to the 27th.

I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. They told us they’ve spent over 15 years exploring every corner of the American West, and it really shows. Their knowledge of geology, park history, and local anecdotes is just impressive. Since they know the sites inside out, they took us at the right times to avoid crowds. So we could enjoy peaceful picnics at Grand Canyon viewpoints without being packed in with 200 people. Plus, on top of the must-see spots, they showed us some hidden gems that were absolutely stunning—places we never would’ve found on our own. They’re true locals who know all the best tips.
The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
