Je viens de finir mon road book pour un périple dans l'ouest américain et je voudrais maintenant retracer cet itinéraire pour pouvoir l'imprimer
J'utilise google maps; je bloque sur le tracé entre deux étapes: je n'arrive à faire qu'une ligne droite mais pas le détail exact de la route entre deux étapes( ou deux repères) sélectionnées avec google maps
Soit je suis complètement idiote, soit ce n'est pas possible mais je n'y comprends rien
Pouvez-vous m'aider ou faut-il utiliser un autre logiciel
Ce n'est forcement l'endroit pour ce post mais je ne savais pas ou le mettre
1. Etre sur la carte des USA. Choisir un point de départ sur la carte et faire un clic droit sur cet endroit. Dans la petite fenêtre qui s'ouvre choisir "itinéraire à partir de ce lieu"
2. Choisir le point d'arrivée de l'étape sur la carte et clic droit "itinéraire vers ce lieu"
3. Aller au point suivant et clic droit"ajouter une destination"
Etc..
Google indique en bleu l'itinéraire qui lui semble le plus approprié. Tu peux zoomer sur la carte et déplacer les petits "champignons" A, B, C... en mettant la souris dessus et maintenir clic gauche.
Si Google n'a pas choisi l'itinéraire que tu comptes vraiment prendre, tu peux l'obliger à passer par la route que tu as choisie (maintenir clic gauche sur la ligne bleue de l'itinéraire Google et "déplacer la ligne pour modifier l'itinéraire"

Si tu travailles sur maps.google.fr, pour faire un itinéraire :
1/ Positionnes ta souris sur la carte à l'endroit voulu (départ) > clic droit > Itinéraire à partir de ce lieu. Un curseur A apparait.
2/ Positionnes ta souris sur la carte à l'endroit voulu (premire étape) > clic droit > Itinéraire vers ce lieu. Un curseur B apparait et la route la plus courte est tracée entre A et B.
3/ Positionnes ta souris sur la carte à l'endroit voulu (étape suivante) > clic droit > Ajouter une destination. Un curseur C apparait. La route la plus courte est tracée entre B et C.
4/ etc...
Tu peux ensuite déplacer les étapes (en attrapant les curseurs A, B...) ou les supprimer (clic droit > supprimer cette destination)...
Un Grand merci à tous, cela marche sans problème avec vos explications (des fois il faut pas grand chose) et pour l'instant je n'ai pas de pb de limitations du nombre d'étapes

Je rebondis sur la demande de cahpp6209 pour savoir comment récupérer mes itinéraires fait par le biais de Google Maps.
Voici la procédure que je fait (j'ai crée un compte sur google maps):
Je vais dans "mon compte" puis dans "mes produits" colone de droite et je clique sur "maps-mes cartes", apparait la carte des US (jusque là tout va bien!), je clique à nouveau dans "résultats" et je tombe sur "créees par moi" les différentes cartes de parcours dans l'ouest des USA. C'est à partir de là que les choses se compliquent car en effet lorsque je clique sur une des cartes rien ne s'affiche (toujours la carte des US à l'écran) et lorsque je clique sur la deuxième carte n'apparaissent que les repères et pas le tracé????.Pour pouvoir avoir et visualiser le tracé je dois systématiquement aller dans "historique web" et rechercher mes cartes, je pense qu'il y a plus simple comme manipulation, d'autre part je n'arrive pas(lorsque j'envoi le lien à mes amis avec qui je veux partager l'aventure) à avoir autre chose qu'une demi page de signes, lettres et chiffres, pourtant je vais dans "obtenir l'URL de cette page" et je fait un copier coller de la première fenètre mais rien n'y fait!!! Je trouve bizarre aussi qu'il n'y ai rien pour "sauvegarder" nos itinéraires, dans google maps!!
Avez vous une solution car j'y perd mon latin, il y a sûrement qqc que j'ai louper dans la procédure!

Mêmes soucis que fatality et même solution que Broze, les mails privé de VF sont super pour s'envoyer le lien des cartes US parce qu'en mail classique ça ne donne rien !

23 étapes. Mais en effet, impossible d'en ajouter une de plus... Mais bon, 23 étapes, c'est bien (en sachant que l'on peut rester plusieurs jours à certains endroits, ça permet de faire un parcours de 1 mois...).
Je pense qu'il faut faire la différence entre tracer un itinéraire et créer une carte.
Créer un itinéraire, je l'ai déjà expliqué + haut, et à priori, il y a une limite dans le nombre d'étapes possibles (+ ou 6 20). Pour obtenir l'itinéraire, il faut récupérer le lien et se l'envoyer ou le sauvegarder... C'est vrai, ça pourrait être mieux...
Pour les cartes que l'on créé, on peut les garder sous sous compte, mais cette interface ne permet pas de calculer des itinéraires, mais de placer des points et des repères et de tracer des lignes à la main...
Disons que puisqu'on en parle je me dis (moi aussi 😉 ) que je dois passer à coté de quelques chose quand je vois que certains ici te font des cartes complexes comme rien !

Tout pareil, il a fallu que je fasse mon itinéraire sur "2 cartes" premier SFO - LV et deuxième LV - PHOENIX, Nous sommes bien d'accord qu'il n'y a aucune manip' à faire pour sauvegarder la ou les cartes???? et est il normal d'être obligé de retourner dans "historique web" pour retrouver ces itinéraires???? et quand fait on pour envoyer un lien à quelqu'un ..............j'ai pas tout compris!!!!🤪🤪 En même temps je suis pas un dieu de l'informatique😏
Je n'ai pas reussi non plus à sauvegarder donc ce que je fais :
je clique sur " Obtenir l'URL de la carte" ( à droite au dessus de la carte ) je le copie ( click droit/ copier ) j'ouvre un formulaire de mail privé VF, je tape un mot (en général comme je suis super imaginatif c'est ICI !! ) je selectionne ce mot ( click gauche, restez appuyé et passer sur le mot ) je click sur l'icône représentant une espèce de maillon de chaine, l'icone qui se situe entre le petit tableau et les diverses façons d'aligner ton texte dans la barre d'icone au dessus du formulaire ou tu tape ton texte actuellement une petite fenêtre s'ouvre, je supprime le http:// et j'y colle le raccourci que j'ai tjs en mèmoire. Je valide, j'envoie le mp

Merci Letigre je viens d'essayer et me suis envoyer un MP via VF et cela marche nickel, 😏😏😏 mais lorsque je souhaite envoyer cette même carte via ma messagerie (wanadoo en l'occurence) à un de mes contact as tu la solution pour que cela marche de la même manière?????? Car tous mes amis malheureusement ne sont pas inscrits à VF!!!! et j'aimerais bien leur faire partager mon (notre) projet avant de le soumettre pour reflexion au différents membres de VF. Deux solutions tu récupère le lien de ta carte comme vu précédement.
Solution 1 : Tu colle le lien dans un mail classique, ça va te donner un truc de 12 km de long qui risque d'être coupé, va falloir que celui qui recoit le mail le recopie en faisant gaffe aux coupures pour le coller dans son navigateur ...bref c'est galère
Solution 2 : tu va sur ce site : http://ks37024.kimsufi.com/~minilien/introsecours.htm tu entre ton lien googlemap dans le champs ( ATTENTION comme précédement faut virer le http:// qui y est déja par défaut sinon il sera en double et ça marche pas ) tu valide, tu récupére le mini lien http://minilien.com/?osJ3V0tBVP et tu l'envoi ... En théorie ça marche ...

la seule info que je peux te donner sur gogle maps, c'est que les temps de trajet sont surévalués de 15 à 20 %, EN RESPECTANT LES LIMITATIONS DE VITESSE !

Juste une petite disgression sur le sujet.. Vous utilisez quel logiciel pour calculer vos kilomètres et surtout pour le temps?!
Je viens de comparer le roadbook avec une amie qui fait le même circuit que moi, et pour les même miles, on a 1h de différence (une l'a fait sur Google Earth, l'autre Google map).
En exemple:
Grand Canyon Village - Monument Valley: 4h22 (179 miles) avec Google Earth; 3h22 (177 miles) avec Google map...
(Via Michelin confirme Google Earth...)
Par rapport à l'exemple que tu donne le kilométrage est quasi identique et les temps necessaire pour parcourir 178 miles est de ttes façons aproximatif, puisque suivant ta personnalité et la bagnole que tu as tu ne mettra pas forcément le même temps qu'un autre
Je sais, mais une heure de différence c'est quand même énorme! Que tu fasses Mappy ou Via Michelin pour Paris-Strasbourg, tu ne vas pas avoir l'un te disant 4h et l'autre 5h pour exactement le même chemin... Après que j'y aille à mon rythme, ok, mais à la base, en respectant au max les vitesses, on met un temps minimum.. d'où le manque de logique en Google Earth et Google Map...

J'arrive bien à faire un itinéraire sauf que j'ai un vol intérieur et je ne voudrais pas avoir le trajet calculé et affiché en bleu sur la carte... Je voudrais par exemple avoir A -> B -> C en bleu puis reprendre l'itinéraire en D sans liaison en C et D puis continuer D -> E, etc. Je n'ai pas su faire 😊, est-ce possible ? Et comment donner un nom à un lieu, sur le repère bleu, par exemple mettre SanFr 😕 ?

Je pense que ce n'est pas possible. La seule chose que tu peux faire, c'est écrire un nom qui apparaît dans la petite fenêtre lorsque tu cliques sur le repère bleu.

Ce qui est dommage entre autres, c'est que l'on peut choisir un trajet en voiture ou à pieds. L'avion n'est pas proposé alors que l'on pourrait imaginer juste une ligne droite pour symboliser le vol même si ce n'est pas exact en terme de trajectoire ! Et faire pour chaque type de trajet une couleur différente...
Pour le repère bleu, oui j'aurais par exemple voulu mettre un nom dessus ou à côté : la date de passage sur le lieu ou encore "J1" par exemple...
Va falloir que je me fasse un "kiwi maps" 😉😏😏

En créant un compte Google Maps, tu as la possibilité de faire es cartes + élaborées. Par contre, impossible de faire des itinéraires : tu peux juste tracer des lignes droites.
Mais il t'es possible de faire des étapes séparées, d'ajouter et renommer des points, des polygones...

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. As you can see, we're heading back from September 6th to the 27th.

Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Spring Lake (Day 5)
I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
