La plupart des loueurs louent pour une durée maxi de 60 jours, je recherche donc un loueur pour 3 mois avec des prix attractifs.

La solution la plus simple que j'avais trouvée , était de couper en deux la période de location , en prévoyant le changement sur une grande métropole.

je ne sais si certain loueur ont des durees de locations restrictives , mais j'ai fait quelques simu et n'ai pas de probleme pour louer pendant 4 mois.... j'ai rate quelque chose ??
par exemple : 1 essai chez chez thriffy, c'est l'un des moins cher de toute facon https://www.thrifty.com/Reservations/index.aspx?SavedState=True&ControlTarget=TransitionLocationTime
et chez Budget, c'a marche aussi... https://www.budget.com/budgetWeb/reservation/initializer.ex
et d'autres, mais je n'e l'ai pas tous fait.....😛

De toute façon tu as tellement de loueurs différents que si ça pose problème tu loues 1 mois quelques, l'autre ailleurs et le dernier encore ailleurs.
D'ailleurs tu peux laisser entendre ça au guichet pour le commercial te propose un meilleur prix plutôt que de te voir partir au guichet d'à côté!

Quelqu'un a déjà eu ce souci une fois sur place, avec validation tous les mois du contrat chez ALAMO avec 56 jours maxi il me semble.

Ce qui a posé pb a des parents souhaitant le faire, était non la location en elle-même mais le permis de conduire... Au delà de 3 mois, le permis français est insuffisant... Donc, en dessous de 3 mois, cela devrait chez de nombreux loueurs... comme cités plus haut. Je viens de tester chez elocationdevoitures et cela fonctionne...

C'est vrai que je n'ai pas été jusqu'à l'émission du devis mais jusqu'à l'étape des prix et du choix et cela a fonctionné avec 86 jours et même 91, chez eloc. !!!
Chez avis, voilà la seule chose qu'ils disent: Un permis de conduire français valide est suffisant pour conduire aux Etats-Unis pendant 3 mois. Passée cette période, vous devez vous munir d'un permis de conduire international ou si vous êtes résident, vous devez vous procurer un permis de conduire américain

Merci pour ta réponse, j'ai essayé sur thrifty j'ai effectivement un devis pour 3 mois mais si j'ai bien compris (mon anglais n'est pas au top)cela ne comprend pas les assurances, et je n'arrive pas à trouver comment faire pour avoir le tarif des assurances. Si tu sais comment faire cela m'interesse. Merci

J'avais fait la réseration par téléphone chez Hertz ayant la carte "1 Club Gold" -10% environ 10 mois avant pour être sûr d'avoir les véhicules demandées ce qui fut le cas , j'avais fait deux contrats différents pour deux véhicules différents . Je suis parti aux US avec les deux mails de confirmations imprimés , ce qui n'a servi à rien , la présentation de la carte permettant de retrouver la réservation immédiatement au guichet. Ils prennent une empreinte de la carte de crédit et c'est tout. Je n'ai payé qu'à la date de retour pour chaque véhicule. Le prix payé correspondait au montant en euros mentionné lors de la réservation. Voulant changé de véhicules je ne me suis pas retrouvé confronté à une durée maximum, mais il y a 9 et 11 ans chez Avis la durée maximum était (toujours??) de 31 jours , j'avais du faire deux contrats différents .

En janvier 2009, mon mari et moi avons réservé une voiture via elocationdevoitures.fr pour une période de 3 mois (soit du 5 mai au 28 juillet). Nous avions planifié un périple de 3 mois aux USA.
Le contact était de suite bien passé, nous avions eu un prix tout à fait compétitif.
Un agent nous a expliqué que nous devions changer de véhicule tous les 30 jours afin de renouveler le contrat de location. D'après l'agent, il suffisait de se présenter dans n'importe quel comptoire National, environ tous les 30 jours, afin de procéder au renouvelement du contrat et d'obtenir une nouvelle voiture. Effectivement, notre bon de réservation mentionnait 3 N° de réservation distincts. Nous sommes donc partis en vacance l'esprit tranquille.
C'est à partir de la prise en charge du premier véhicule que le cauchemard a commencé!
A notre arrivée au comptoire National de Las Vegas, le 5 mai, nous apprenons que notre réservation n'est pas correcte. Tous les n° de réservation mentionnés sur le contrat de location sont liés à l'agence de Las Vegas Airport. Concrètement, nous devons revenir tous les 30 jours à Las Vegas pour renouveler le contrat et obtenir un nouveau véhicule! Une aberration compte tenu du fait que nous effectuions un périple à travers le pays...
De plus, nous apprenons que les date et lieux de renouvellement doivent impérativement être déterminés à l'avance. Nous ne pouvons pas nous présenter n'importe où, n'importe quand, pour changer de véhicule.
Pour résumer la situation: les informations données par elocationdevoitures.com étaient toutes ERRONEES! Ca commence bien!
De retour à l'hôtel, nous analysons notre périple et fixons des lieux et dates précis pour le renouvelement:
- le 5 juin à Salt Lake City
- le 5 juillet à New Orleans
Nous contactons elocationdevoitures.fr afin d'expliquer la situation et de demander les modifications nécessaires.
A l'autre bout du fil, notre interlocuteur ne nous croit pas et ne nous laisse même pas la chance de nous exprimer: « mais non, tout est en ordre, je vous assure que tout est en ordre, il n'y a pas d'erreur dans votre réservation ».
Nous perdons un peu patience face à ce manque de sérieux et de professionnalisme et l'interlocuteur en question rétorque: « si vous continuez à vous énerver, je raccroche ». Bravo!
Comment voulez-vous ne pas perdre patience dans ces conditions?
Bref, nous insistons pour que les n° de réservation soient modifiés et l'interlocuteur nous promet une réponse très rapide.
Le lendemain, n'ayant toujours pas de nouvelles, je me décide à recontacter elocationdevoitures.fr
Un agent me répète à nouveau que tout est correct, que c'est un agent de national qui a effectué la réservation (Patrick Kelly) et que je ne dois ni m'inquiéter ni gâcher mes vacances! Quel culot!
Sur ce, je contacte l'agence National de Salt Lake City pour savoir si mon n° de réservation est bien couplé à leur agence. Evidemment NON, le n° de réservation en question est toujours lié à Las Vegas! Super, rien n'a été fait de la part d'elocationdevoitures.fr.
Vu le manque de professionalisme et le « je m'en foutisme » total des agents français, je me décide donc à contacter les agents anglais de trajeljigsaw.
Mon interlocuteur m'écoute attentivement, comprend parfaitement le soucis et m'explique que Patrick Kelly a effectué la réservation, qu'il est sérieux et qu'il va régler le soucis. Il me promet de faire part de mon message à ses collègues français afin de régler la situation. Il reconnaît d'ailleurs lui-même que les agents français ne sont pas toujours très fiables! Ca, j'avais remarqué!
Deux jours plus tard, n'ayant toujours pas de nouvelles, je me décide à contacter directement ce fameux Patrick Kelly.
Je tombe d'abord sur un agent français qui me dit que Patrick Kelly n'est pas là. Je demande alors à parler à n'importe quel manager et on me met en attente. Finalement, après un bon quart d'heure, surprise... Patrick Kelly me prend en ligne. (Tiens, je croyais qu'il n'était pas là...).
Ce monsieur est tout à fait coopératif et à l'écoute. Je lui fait part des modifications à apporter à ma réservation et à peine 10 minutes plus tard, je reçois un e-mail avec les n° de confirmation adaptés.
Je rappelle le comptoire National de Salt Lake City pour vérifier et par bonheur, tout est en ordre!
Cela aura pris 2 semaines, une dizaine de coups de téléphone, 100 dollars d'appels ainsi qu'une bonne dose de stress et de contrariété pendant nos vacances!
L'erreur est humaine, certes, mais un tel laissé-aller est intolérable!
Encore heureux que je maîtrise l'anglais car je me demande comment toute cette mésaventure se serait terminée...
Bref, à éviter comme la peste...

Je n'ai jamais loué pour une durée aussi longue mais pour des durées plus courtes et tout s'est toujours bien passé autant avec elocation, qu'avec holliday ou voyagesncf ou d'autres...
A retenir que plus une location est longue et complexe, plus tout est à vérifier avant de partir. Par exemple, les lieux de récupération ou de retour...

Surtout que sur le voucher tout est écrit, les lieux de prise en charge, de restitution, les horaires et en plus en Français..
Il y a eu certes une grosse erreur de la part de elocation, mais vous pouviez y remedier certainement avant de partir au vu du voucher...ce papier c'est la bible, le seull truc qui fasse foi aux yeux du loueur une fois sur place..

Je fais remonter ce post que j'avais lancé il y a quelques mois, car je pensais passer par sunny cars via le comparateur locationdevoiture.fr, j'avais fait le devis par internet et il n'y avait pas de problème pour 3 mois, mais en allant faire un tour directement sur le site de Sunny, il est écrit maximum 56 jours, j'ai donc appelé locationdevoiture.fr et ils m'ont dit qu'il n'y avait pas de problèmes ils s'arrangeaient avec sunny , ils nous faisaient 3 contrats de loc .différents et une fois sur place on changeait de voiture et de contrat selon ou on se trouvait en les prévenant 1 semaine à l'avance.
J'ai appelé ensuite Sunny cars , et eux me disent que c'est faux , ce n'est pas possible , on peut faire plusieurs contrats mais il faudra que je revienne changer la voiture à Los Angeles, ce qui est impossible , nous n'allons pas revenir au point de départ au bout d'1 mois.
Je suis bien avancée, je repars donc dans mes recherches.
Concernant thriffy , cela passe pour 3 mois , mais les prix sont sans assurances et impossible de trouver ou ajouter les assurances, même en allant jusqu'au bout de la réservation. Pour Budget je viens d'essayer mais 3 mois cela ne passe pas.

We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary. Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between: - The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc. - The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...

We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly! Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

There are several attractions along the way: - Mormon Rocks - Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite - Joshua Tree National Park - Mojave Desert - Mojave National Preserve - Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast. I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October. My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips. I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast. I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks... For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400, which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.). Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. They told us they’ve spent over 15 years exploring every corner of the American West, and it really shows. Their knowledge of geology, park history, and local anecdotes is just impressive. It’s nothing like someone reciting a memorized script. They answer all your questions and really adapt to what you want to see or do.
What we really loved: the vehicle was super comfortable, and the little details made a difference—like snacks and even a homemade cake! Though, to be fair, we devoured the cake right away, so that counts.
Since they know the sites inside out, they took us at the right times to avoid crowds. So we could enjoy peaceful picnics at Grand Canyon viewpoints without being packed in with 200 people. Plus, on top of the must-see spots, they showed us some hidden gems that were absolutely stunning—places we never would’ve found on our own. They’re true locals who know all the best tips.
The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus. In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
