J'ai vraiment besoin de votre aide pour m'éclairer parce que je suis complètement perdu, et je ne trouve aucune réponse à ma situation exacte...
Je dois partir au mois du 28 Mai au 24 Juin à Miami pour un stage dans un laboratoire pendant 4 semaines. Puis j'ai à nouveau un stage dans une entreprise cette fois ci à San Diego du 27 juin au 23 septembre. Vous l'aurez donc compris, cumulé je reste plus de 90 jours aux Etats Unis si je reste ce fameux weekend de "transition".
Une des solutions serait de prendre un VISA J-1 mais celui ci est trop onéreux (environ 850€), et j'aimerais l'éviter. L'autre solution serait de revenir en France, et repartir, et encore j'ai lu certains articles qui me disait qu'à des dates si proche il est possible que le service d'immigration me fasse chier .. et puis revenir en France depuis les Etats Unis comment dire .. c'est long !
Une autre solution serait de prendre un VISA B-1, mais je ne trouve pas le prix nulle part, ni vraiment les conditions d'acceptation.. et de plus, il ne me permettrait pas d'ouvrir un compte en banque aux USA. Donc j'abandonne à moitié cette solution.
J'ai lu aussi que le renouvellement de l'ESTA ne peut pas se faire avec les pays limitrophes tel que le Canada, et le Mexique entre autres. Mais je ne trouve pas de liste, même non exhaustive, mais au moins voir si Cuba, les Bahamas, la République Dominicaine ou d'autres pays plus "proches" sont valables ? De plus, ce n'est pas possible par voie terrestre, mais cela est il aussi valable pour la voie aérienne ? Par ailleurs, si je pars des USA après Miami, j'aurai séjourner que 4 semaines, et donc ne devrait pas éveiller de soupçons à priori ?
Je vous serais très reconnaissant si vous pouviez m'éclaircir sur ne serait ce qu'un seul de mes points aborder. MERRRRCIIII.

l'ESTA n'est pas un visa: c'est un document pour justement ceux qui n'ont pas besoin de visa: il coute $14 et est valide pour 2 ans...
si tu souhaites un visa B2 (tourisme longue duree): comme le dit Nikki: tout est sur le site de l'ambassade! mais pareil, tu n'as pas le droit de travailler avec ce visa.🤪
si tu viens sans visa (et que tu es francais/belge etc): tu as droit a 90 jours...et aller dans les pays limitrophes des US ne remet pas le compteur a zero...il te faut rentrer en France (ou ailleurs) ...apres c'est l'officier d'immigration qui te laissera rentrer ou pas aux US: c'est a son 'bon vouloir'.

Je sais qu'il est conseillé dans mon cas d'avoir un visa J-1 (Je dis bien conseillé, car il est obligatoire dans le cas ou nous avons plus de 18h, il me semble de tête, de cours dans la semaine).
Ma question maintenant est : Dans quel pays faut-il que j'aille après Miami pour une fois re-rentrer aux USA, renouveller mon ESTA ? Quels sont les pays possibles ? J'exclus par là, un retour en France bien entendu.
Par ailleurs, si même je rentrais en France, et que je souhaitais retourner aux USA, n'il y a t'il pas une période d'attente entre deux retours possibles ? Ou une fois de plus, ce sera au bon vouloir de l'officier d'immigration ?

Pour les 18h de cours, c'est dans le cas où tu suis des cours de langue. Et dans ce cas là, il faut un visa F1 pas J1.
Mais si c'est un stage en entreprise, payé ou pas et peu importe ce que tu y fais, le visa J1 est obligatoire.
Par ailleurs, si tu entres sur le territoire américain le 28 mai, ton exemption de visa (et pas l'ESTA) sera valable jusqu'au 27 août. Donc si tu rentres en France (ou à Cuba...) fin juin et que tu reviens quelques jours plus tard sur le territoire américain, ton "ancienne" exemption de visa sera toujours valable et tu n'auras donc pas droit à 90 nouveaux jours.
Tu ne peux pas demander un visa J1 pour faire 2 stages différents.
Si tu demandes un visa J1 pour ton stage de 4 semaines à Miami, il sera accordé pour les 4 semaines dans ton labo à Miami (+ 30 jours pour faire un peu de tourisme). Le nom de ton employeur figurera sur ton visa.
Mais la période de validité ne couvrira pas les 2 périodes. Ca semble logique, le labo ne va pas te payer un visa pour travailler dans une autre entreprise.

Un ESTA n'est pas une exemption de Visa. Et peu importe le pays d'où tu arrives, l'officier n'est pas obligé de t'accorder l'accès au territoire US s'il juge non valable la raison de ton séjour.

Je comprends bien que l'ESTA ne remplace pas le VISA et vice versa. Je me demandais juste si je pouvais éviter cette charge .. puisque les autorités américaines ne sont pas censés savoir que je viens travailler, d'ailleurs mon entreprise de San Diego me l'a dit qu'il était prêt à me prendre en stage sans Visa J-1 .. mais voilà cumuler les deux, ça revient à plus de jours que ne le permet l'ESTA, donc quoiqu'il arrive, je ne pouvais pas.
Je vais entreprendre les démarches de Visa du coup pour San Diego, et apparemment je peux arriver 30 jours avant, donc ce qui me couvrirait Miami.

L'ESTA est valable 2 ans et tu peux retourner aux Etats Unis autant de fois que tu le désires pendant cette période.
Donc oui, tu peux repartir.
Mais ton entrée aux Etats Unis n'est pas garantie. Elle dépendra de l'agent d'immigration.
C'est lui qui décidera si oui ou non tu peux bénéficier du programme d'exemption de visa.
Si tu n'arrives pas à le convaincre, c'est retour immédiat en France.
Donc même conseil que sur l'autre message : demande un visa.
Ok merci pour votre réponse. Le problème est que pour demander le visa B2 visiteur et rester 6 mois, il faut un profil particulier prouvant que tu retournes bien en France. J'ai 24 ans, je viens de finir mes études donc "unemployed", pas d'enfant, de mari, bref le profil parfait pour qu'ils me refusent le visa B2 visiteur. Et s'ils me refusent, je ne peux même pas faire une demande ESTA pour partir.
Du coup je préfère tenter l'ESTA, rentrer deux semaines en France, pour ensuite repartir.
Par contre ma prof d'anglais m'a assuré aujourd'hui qu'il fallait renouveler l'ESTA une fois entré en France pour repartir, ce que je trouve paradoxal puisque normalement c'est valable 2 ans. C'est seulement si je dépasse les 90 jours que je dois le renouveler non?

Sauf en cas d’annulation, les autorisations de voyage sont valables deux ans à compter de la date d’autorisation ou à la date d’expiration de votre passeport si celui-ci expire avant les deux années d’autorisation. L’écran Autorisation accordée affiche la date d’expiration de votre autorisation de voyage.
Au moment de remplir ton autorisation, ne remplis que les champs obligatoires (n° de vol, compagnie aérienne, adresse aux USA... sont des renseignements facultatifs) ça t'éviteras d'avoir à modifier les renseignements lors d'un autre voyage.

Non, l'ESTA n'a pas à être renouvelé s'il est encore valable (sauf changement de passeport) sinon il ne serait pas valable 2 ans (mieux vaut lire les sites officiels qu'écouter son prof ^^).
L'ESTA permet de prétendre au programme d'exemption de visa (VWP) donc à 90 jours de tourisme sur place, sans visa. Ces 90 jours ne sont pas prolongeables. Si tu restes ne serait-ce que 91 jours, c'est une violation du VWP et une interdiction de revenir aux États-Unis sans visa.
Attention quand même car si, contrairement au visa B2, tu n'as pas à amener des preuves, il faut néanmoins être en mesure de justifier ton séjour. L'officier va te poser des questions et parfois ils sont très "curieux" (notamment quand on vient pour plusieurs mois). Ils m'ont déjà demandé comment j'avais financé mon séjour, chez qui j'allais séjourner, mes moyens de paiement, le but de mon séjour...etc. Je ne sais pas pourquoi tu vas là bas mais si c'est pour rejoindre un petit ami, sache que le mentionner peut jouer en ta défaveur.
De même, je pense que c'est un peu "tenter le diable" que d'essayer de retourner aux États-Unis 2 semaines après un long séjour. Ce n'est pas interdit certes mais risqué en tout cas.
