pour notre séjour du 11 au 25 avril prochains à Bali, nous avons pensé organiser notre circuit de cette façon :
arrivée le 11 avril après-midi à l'aéroport du 11 au 13 avril 2 nuits à Jimbaran (peut être à l'hôtel Puri bambou?) du 13 au 16 avril 3 nuits à Ubud du 16 au 18 avril 2 nuits à Amed du 18 au 19 avril 1 nuit à Padangbai du 19 au 23 avril 4 nuits sur les îles Gili (probablement Meno pour sa tranquillité) du 23 au 25 avril 2 nuits à Sanur (pour se rapprocher de l'aéroport)
nos objectifs sont : se reposer au maximum, profiter des plus jolies plages, passer des vacances qui changent un peu en séjournant dans les rizières (Ubud), visiter mais pas comme des forcenés, s'immerger dans la culture balinaise, et surtout se détendre sans se stresser avec les horaires et sans faire trop de route.
on pense prendre un taxi pour aller de l'aéroport à Jimbaran, puis louer une voiture à le 2ème jour mais apparemment il faut impérativement la rendre à l'endoit où on l'a louée... du coup je ne sais pas si ce sera faisable de louer pour 2-3 jours à chaque fois.
peut être vaut il mieux prendre un taxi à chaque déplacement ? (on préfère éviter le chauffeur pour ne pas avoir d'horaires imposés et avoir plus d'intimité).
pensez-vous que ce circuit est réalisable ?
j'aurais bien aimé aussi séjourner à Bangli, mais c'est proche de Ubud, donc peut être y passer en allant à Amed ?
4 nuits sur les îles Gili, ne risque t on pas de s'ennuyer ?
les 2 dernières nuits à Sanur ne risquent elles pas de nous décevoir après avoir profité de la tranquillité des Gili et de l'authenticité d'Ubud ?

je pars avec ma petite famille (ma femme, lucie 4ans et maxime 6ans) le 30 mars et nous sommes ausssi en plein préparatif!
je vois que nous nous rejoignons sur pas mal de choses. pour te donner une idée, voila ce que nous envisageons pour trois semaines:Arrivée à Jimbaran : on y reste trois jours, le temps de se remettre du décalage, de faire notre shopping (Bcp de choses à acheter au lieu d'acheter en France- produit moustic, creme solaire, t-shirts, masquestubas, sarongs pour les temples, cartes mémoires pour appareil numérique...), et de visiter le sud (uluwatu, plage de dreamland, péninsule de bukit) quatre jours vers la région des trois lacs : Bédugul ou Munduk comme camp de baseUbud: cinq jours.Amed: trois jourspadangbai: deux jours. le deuxième jour en fait correspond surtout au voyage aller vers les gilisDeux jours aux gilis (méno je pense)deux jours à padang bai (1 jour pour revenir des gilis et un jour dans cette baie magnifique selon les dires d'amis qui y sont allés): notre avion de retour est à 23h30 et je pense que depuis Padangbai, il faut moins de deux heures pour aller à l'aéroport.
Voilà.
si je peux apporter mon avis sur ton planning: je pense que 4 jours aux gilis c'est bcp par rapport à la durée de ton voyage et tout ce qu'il y a à voir sur Bali, à moins que tu y ailles prioritairement pour la plongée et le snorkelling...
Et puis, franchement, Sanur c'est une réserve pour Australien et je pense que pour finir c'est vraiment...nul.
Mais bon, j'espère avoir de tes nouvelles et apprendre que je me suis trompé si tu restes sur cet optique!

Pour votre programme 4 jours dans region de Bedugul - Munduk cela fait un peu trop, vous pourriez faire 2 jours dans cette region et 2 jours a Lovina. Concernant Sanur ce n`est pas du tout le coin des Australiens qui se trouve davantage vers Kuta - Legian. Sanur est tres bien adapter pour les familles et est au contraire tres bien pour finir un sejour. 4 jours aux Gili pour jusdorange est bien car cela correspond a ses attentes, repos...
Sinon pour vous Rudyy il y a aussi l`ile de Lembongan en face de Bali qui est tres bien, belles plages de sable blanc et ideal pour enfants ( mais pour cela reduire de 2 jours region Bedugul - Munduk ). Ceci n`est qu`un avis, a suivre ou non...
Votre circuit est pas trop mal.
Pour l`hotel a Jimbaran Puri Bambu est un tres bon choix.
Si vous avez peur de vous ennuyer aux iles Gili restez y donc 2 nuits et rajoutez 2 nuits a Lovina ou sinon 1 nuit a Lovina et 1 nuit de plus a Ubud. Ou bien encore 1 nuit a Lovina et 1 nuit a Munduk qui est tres agreable, vraiment. Vous savez pour ce qui est de Ubud, ce n`est plus aussi authentique, beaucoup de restaurants et de magasins maintenant, ce qui fait son charme c`est ce qui se degage de la bas, c`est inexplicable. Mais un sejour a Sanur ne vous decevra pas, c`est plutot calme plus qu`a Kuta-Legian et pis en plus vous desirez vous vous rapprocher de l`aeroport...
Pour le transport oui il faut ramener la voiture ou vous l`avez louer, logique, sinon taxi mais bon... Sinon chauffeur et la ce n`est pas toujours lui qui decide des horaires, il s`adapte souvent aux desirs de ses clients. Pour la location voiture si vous la prenez a Jimbaran a la limite a la fin de votre sejour avant de passer a Sanur vous retournez a Jimbaran pour retourner votre voiture et de la bas vous prenez un taxi pour aller a Sanur, c`est faisable et pas tres compliquer.

malgré mes multiples recherches je n'en ai jamais entendu parlé ! j'irai jeter un oeil dans mes guides ce soir.
c'est vrai que 4j aux Gili ça fait beaucoup en proportion de mon séjour à Bali, mais comme dit l'autre ami les Gili correspondent à ce que je suis venue chercher... j'ai peur de devoir repartir la mort dans l'âme si je n'y reste que 2 nuits.
j'avais aussi pensé à Meno, pour sa tranquilité, quitte à aller sur les 2 autres dans la journée, mais finalement je choisirai peut etre Gili Air qui semble aussi agréable.
concernant Sanur, je n'avais pas prévu d'y passer au départ, mais les guides ont l'air d'apprécier et puis ça rapproche de l'aéroport.
pour Jimbaran, l'hôtel pubambu a une solide réputation sur les forums, à ce que je vois ! j'espère ne pas être déçue.

Il m'a dit que la région du Nord, Lovina et les alentours n'avaient pas d'intérêt.
il vaut mieux selon lui se concentrer sur la région d'Ubud et l'Est (amed et Padang bai).

Pour les distances, il faut se méfier car même si elles sont courtes cela peut prendre Bcp de temps!

j'hésite encore à passer 1 nuit à Padang bai, car ça paraît décevant.
d'autant qu'apparemment les compagnies de bateaux peuvent venir nous chercher à hôtel pour nous emmener aux Gili.
d'ailleurs mon préoccupation actuelle est le transport... je vais faire un post à ce sujet.
en septembre dernier, je suis allé à Bali, je devais rejoindre des amis aux Gilis, mais tout le monde me l'a déconseillé, car certes ils trouvaient le coin super beau, mais à part une belle plage... et les coraux étaient très abîmés, baignade dangereuse et pas trop pratique
si je retourne à Bali, j'irai forcément aux Gili, mais je ne regrette pas d'avoir fait l'impasse dessus, il y a tellement à faire sur Bali
vu la durée de ton séjour, cela te permettrait de faire un jour de plus à Ubud, d'aller voir le temple de Bedugul dans la
région des lacs, qui est pour moi le plus beau temple de Bali, et d'aller visiter le temple boudhiste à côté de Lovina

pour la location de voiture, vu les tarifs, je prendrai le chauffeur à votre place, c'est plus prudent, et surtout, à Bali, y'a pas de panneaux...

L'hotel Puri Banbou est très bien. Tu as aussi les avantages suivants ; ils viennent te chercher à l'aéroport, tu bénéficies d'une navette pour aller à Kuta ( le tout gratuit ). la situation proche de la mer ( tu ne manqueras pas de souper sur la plage de Jimbaran ).

Ubud ; ok tu dois avoir assez d'info - choisi un hotel au plus proche du centre ville pour profiter au mieux de ce qui se passe aussi bien en matinée ( marché ) que le soir ( resto - danse dans les temples ).
Ne manque pas d'aller à Tirta Empul ( page 197 du LP ).
Amed; c'est un coin super ( pour ma part plus agréable que les Gilis ).
Va faire un baptème de plongée sur le Tulamben. Balade dans les risières entre Amed et Amlapura.
Pour les déplacements des Balinais te le proposeront la course ; tu en trouveras sans aucune difficulté pour faire tes déplacements.
Pour les Gilis ; le transport par bateau PEMARA au départ de Padangbai ;départ 12h30 arrive vers 18h30 à Trawangan. Pour le retour tu préféreras peut-être le Speeed Boat qui en 2h30 des Gilis arrive au port de Benoa ( Dempasar ) puis te raménera à ton hotel sur Sanur ( négocier le prix - prix public 690.000 rp ).

Tu as le meilleur prix en réservant par le site indiqué; je t'assure que n'avons eu aucun problème. Même si tu payes en $ c'est plus interressant que de payer sur place.
Pour Ubud, penses-tu passer ta journée devant la vue de ta chambre sur les risières. N' aurais-tu pas plus envie de te ballader dans le centre ou aux alentours. Le centre facilite une approche rapide des sites, des possibilités de spectacles, tout en se déplacant à pied...
En plein centre le Sania's house est un bon RQP mais sans la vue sur les risières.
Pour le bateau tu feras comme nous c.à.d prendre le bateau PEMARA pour le prix. Pour le retour tu sais qu'il existe une autre formule plus chère certe mais qui te rapproche rapidement et directement à ton hotel ( c'est du luxe mais c'est un plus quand on veut profiter des dernières heures avant de reprendre l'avion du retour ! )
Nous n'avons pas vu de personne malade, la mer était calme c'est vrai...

Vue sur les rizières et proximité du centre d'Ubud POSSIBLE !!! Evidemment, par proximité, je veux dire 10 minutes de marche. Allez donc vous balader au nord de la ville, les routes deviennent rapidement des chemins entre deux rizières, et là, ô magie, hôtels à volonté. Au sud de Monkey Forest Road se trouvent aussi des hôtels, plus luxueux, et bien plus chers, mais avec vue sur les rizières.
Qui veut chasser une migraine n'a qu'à boire toujours du bon
à 10 min du centre, vue possible sur les rizières, mais si tu réserves par le net à l'avance, tu ne sauras si la rizière est bien verte, ou toute jaune !
rizière ou pas, les jardins des hôtels sont toujours magnifiques

Suffit de demander à ton hôtel d'envoyer quelqu'un pour te récupérer...ou de demander dans un resto s'il connaisse quelqu'un qui fait du "transport". en général c'est possible les balinais étant très serviables
Ps : j'ai suivi les autres discussions que tu as lancé sur les hotels, les moyens de se déplacer et de payer les hotels.......Zeeeennnn. Tu constateras sur place qu'il est très très facile de voyager à bali et que tout peut s'organiser en quelques minutes sur place. Mais je comprends que si tu n'es jamais allée en asie tu "paniques" un peu 😉. Et puis l'attente avant le départ est toujours siiiii longue qu'on a envie de tout prévoir
Moi ça a été le cas pour le vietnam. j'avais finalement tellement organisé tout le voyage (déplacement, hotel, je connaissais chaque site prévu avant d'y être grâce à pleins de blogs lus)qu' au final j'ai été déçue... et que l'itinéraire a été complètement chamboulé. alors juste un conseil : laisse toi une marge de surprise quand même. les meilleurs voyage que j'ai fait en asie sont ceux qui étaient le moins préparés

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

I’ll be in Malaysia with my wife, mainly in Langkawi and Penang for Christmas and New Year’s at the end of 2026.
If you’ve had the experience—and since I’ve read (though it’s not very clear) that these two islands get quite crowded during this period—would you recommend booking accommodation well in advance, or is it easy to find something on the spot?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. After Angkor, I’ve booked a stay on Ko Chang island. Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!!

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄).
Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM.
