j'etabli un vague plan des places ou l'on se posera, je suis qd meme perdue, je nesais pas si mon plan est faisable et surtout il me reste un trou de qq jours et j' ai vraiment besoin de conseils.
A savoir que l'on veut varier entre plage farniente et decouverte culturelle et aventure,
on cherche qqchose de cool et pas trop fatiguant, c'est notre lunede miel qd meme.
donc:
arrivee le 10/9 vers 18h30, heure Bali
du 10/9 au 14/9: Nusa Dua, pour glander et se remettre du voyage, et surtt profiter de notre nouveau statut marital, looooool
du 15/9 au 18/9: les iles GILI
du 19/9 au 21/9: Flores et l'ile du Komodo
du 22/9 au 25/9: retour sur Bali mais ou aller? le nord de l'ile, l'est? est ce que le parc ational en vaut la peine?passer qq jours ds les montagnes???
du 26/9 au 30/9: Kuta et ses environs pour le marche et les souvenirs...
depart le 1/10 en milieud'apres midi
alors? qu'en pensez vous? soyez sincere quitte a me faire changer tt mon programme
pensez vous que je devrais etendre mes sejours a Lombok et Flores et eliminer mon trou du 22 au 25?

tu retiens quelques jours dans un hôtel a bali ( un beau, voyage de noces ) et ensuite tu vois sur place avec vos envies.
faire un programme, est un carcan, car sur place, les envies change en fonction de ce que vous allez vivre et découvrir, et tu auras toute latitude pour organiser tes déplacements en live !!
comment vas la rue " hamra" ? toujours commerçante ? et l'île aux pigeons ?

oui j'ai connu le liban et j'aime ce pays ainsi que les libanais, qui ont comme la corse une histoire entre la mer et la montagne!
j'ai parcouru du nord au sud de tripoli à la frontière sud et à lest, ou je suis allé a baalbeck en 1984, région magnifique que cette plaine de la bekaa et cette ville chargé d'histoire, avec cette "pierre" qui a fait fantasmé beaucoup d'historiens .
j'ai adoré byblos, premier port de l'humanité reconnu et son théatre unique !
de 1984 jusqu'en 91, j'ai fait plusieurs séjours, allant de plusieurs mois a quelques jours, mais toujours avec ce bonheur de retrouver les senteurs des cèdres.
quand à Bali, faites comme je vous dit, car sur place, vous trouverez les gens qui vous donneront les bons conseils pour assouvir vos envies de voyages et de découvertes, soit de rester sur l'île, soit d'aller découvriri les autres iles.

Alors petit conseil, j'ai vécu 2 mois en Indonésie (avril/mai 2008) :
Nusa dua n'a pas grand intérêt à mes yeux (gros hotels bourré de touristes russes et autres...bref c'est pas top mais bon pour qques nuits de noces ça peut faire l'affaire)...
je te conseil plutot d'essayer de te poser vers seminyak ou tu peux louer des villas ou trouver des hotels qui ont plus de charmes que des grosses usines a touristes!
concernant Gili islands: je te conseil d'y rester 1 petite semaine (base toi su Gili Tramagwan -si je me souviens bien de l'orthographe- enfin c'est la plus grosse ile), je te conseil de prendre contact avec un hotel qui s'appelle "beach house" - hotel tres sympa au bord de l'eau et personnels tres accueillants et une chambre double avec clim t'en coutera 400 000 IDR. ils ont la possibilité de t'organiser un transfert en bateau depuis lombok. ils ont un site internet.
pour ce qui est de flores, komodo etc... je te conseil de partir sur ces iles depuis Gili islands, il y a plusieurs "tour operator" qui organisent ce genre de periple. en général la durée du séjour pour faire une dizaine de petites iles est de 4 jours (3 nuits) ou tu dors, tu vis sur le bateau, plongée avec masque et tuba et visite bien sur de ces iles. en général cela coute aux environs de 1 500 000 IDR.
je n'ai malheureusement pas pu le faire car nous n'étions pas assez nombreux a vouloir faire cette excursion quand j'y étais (en général ces bateaux peuvent transporter entre 8 & 20 personnes)!
si tu restes finalement sur Bali, je te conseil tout bêtement de te louer un scooter (environ 35 - 40 000 IDR / jour) et de te ballader au gré de tes envies, l'ile n'est pas très grande et depuis le sud de Bali tu peux faire l'aller/retour dans le nord dans la journée.
Perso je me suis pas mal ballader sur Bali, je te conseil donc de faire :
l'ouest (sans forcément aller au Parc national), le nord et la région des lacs, le centre et la région d'Ubud, l'est...et pour la fete et le nightclubbing seminyak et kuta.....enfin bref quasiment toute l'ile sauf Nusa Dua (qui pour moi n'a aucun interet si ce n'est pour votre lune de miel...mais apres fuyez!!!)
si tu veux plus d'infos n'hésite pas à poser d'autres questions mais je suis sur que vous allez adorer cette destination!
je compte retourner en Indonésie au mois de septembre, je pourrais éventuellement vous donner d'autres conseils sur places ;)

Je vis a Pemuteran dans le nors de bali ou je bosse dans un centre de plongee.
Nusa dua est bien pour se reposer et ce n'est pas la saison des russes(dec/janv)
le suel probleme c'est que tout l'argent que vous depense las bas ne reste pas a Bali mais les hotel sont beaux et en plus vous aurrez des discount pour votre voyage de noce.
Ubud est chouette pour les rizieres et les achat (bien moins cher que kuta)
le volcan Batur est accessible en voiture d'ubud (kintamani) et tu peux descendre au bord du lac et escalader le volcan(le matin env. 3h de marche et belle vue d'en haut.
Pemuteran dans le nord est assez tranquile et ils y a beaucoup de honey mooner qui viennent ici(hotel taman Sari)
beach house a Trawangan est cool et l'ile en elle meme est assez belle des que tu sort des rues commercante.La plongee et le snorkeling et le far niente sont les activites principales
je pense que cela ira plus vite de revenir a Bali et de prendre un avion pour flores.
Gili Cat (qui va a padang bay 1h30)ou blue water safari(vers benoa 2h30) font la traverse tous les jours et tu peux les reserver sur place(trawangan)depuis bali ils viennent te chercher a l'hotel de ton chois et te tranfert vers padang bay pour la traversee(660'000rp)

Comment aller à Bali sans séjourner à UBUD ?? De ce point assez central vous trouverez des chauffeurs pour vous transporter sur les sites, à l'époque où tu pars la saison se termine donc vous n'aurez pas de difficulté pour vous déplacer et vous loger.
Perso, j'ai fini mon voyage de noces à Nusa Dua.

Bref, vous avez bien raison. Avez-vous choisit un hotel ? Nous, nous étions au Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, en palace club (on a joué la carte des honeymooners qui se font plaisir jusqu'au bout !!), et c'était exceptionnel...
Néanmoins, ma meilleure soirée à Bali, ca reste le diner au coucher de soleil à Jimbaran...

la vie à Bali est hyper simple, don't worry avec ca.
Concernant le Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa, est-ce votre seul hotel, ou prévoyez-vous de bouger ?
cet hotel est fantaqstique, c'est un gros resort de plus qui convient parfaitement à une lune de miel. 2 piscines 4 restos, 3 bars (dont 1 au milieu de la piscine), la plage directement accessible, 1 spa renommé.
Bref, vous allez vous faire plaisir !
Par contre, ne vous attendez pas à une plage de carte postale ; la plage est certes jolie et l'eau transparente, mais ce n'est pas la Thaïlande, et Bali n'est pas réputé pour ces plages (les plus belles que j'ai vu sont celles de Jimbaran, because coucher de soleil, et de Amed, because sable noir).
D'autre part, Nusa Dua est excentré et en particulier loin de Ubud et des temples principaux, et il n'est pas évident de rayonner dans toute l'île à partir de là. D'autre pourront mieux te répondre que moi car nous n'avons pas essayé de trop bouger à partir de Nusa Dua (on avait fait un circuit avant).
Pour moi, les choses à faire : Ubud et sa région, Tanah Lot, Ulun Danu, diner de poissons grillés sur la plage de jimbaran au coucher de soleil, balade au milieu des rizières en terrasse, assiter à une cérémonie, 1 soin en spa...
A ne pas faire : Kuta (à moins d'aimer le surf, les australiens et la bière), aller voir les dauphins à lovina (RAS), sanur (rien de spécial)...
Mais bon, je ne suis allé qu'une fois à Bali, et dans un cadre très spécial (voyage de noces), donc je n'ai pas la prétention d'être exhaustif.
Quant aux éléphants, je ne suis pas sûr qu'il y en ait à Bali (du moins je n'en ai pas entendu parler)

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

For those familiar with SOUTHEAST ASIA, I'm planning to leave in mid-June (with the trip ending at the latest in November), and I don’t have a precise idea of exact places or itineraries yet. The thing is, this period is usually the rainy season...
Any advice? I was thinking of Malaysia or Indonesia, like Sulawesi, for example (all countries and islands in Southeast Asia interest me except Bali).
Any recommendations? I’m doing my research online, but if anyone here has the time and knowledge, I’d love to hear from you.
My partner and I are planning a trip to Indonesia in September-October 2026. My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

Thanks for all your contributions on the forum—they’ve really helped me plan my trip. There are four of us friends heading to Sulawesi for 20 days. Based on all your advice, I’ve put together the following itinerary:
July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home
Overall, what do you think?
I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
