ben je crois qu'il voulait dire que "Golf" ben ça s'écrit "golfe", il a que ça à faire quoi.

Pour être malheureusement plus sérieux, le bilan pas encore définitif est de 53 morts (22 dans la province de Nakhon Si Thammarat, 10 à Surat Thani, 6 à Patthalung, 10 à Krabi, 2 à Trang 2 à Chumphon, & à Phangnga)
Les plus gros dégats affectent des zones non touristiques, et il n'y a aucune raison de ne pas se rendre à Samui, Phuket, Lanta ou Ao Nang...

oui c'est triste, mais les Thaï sont un peuple courageux et ont une faculté surprenante à toute à la fois accepter leur destin et s'en remettre rapidement. Même dans les évènements les plus sombres de leur histoire, personnel ou nationale.
C'est pour cette raison qu'il ne faut pas hésiter à aller en Thaïlande.
J'y serais avec femme et enfants dimanche matin, (à Koh Samui). Pas la meilleure façon de rencontrer le peuple thaï pour un premier séjour, mais parfait pour se reposer.

Je reviens d'un séjour de 3 mois de Fang Gna au nor de phuket
Rentré le 4 Avril.
Les pluies ont commencé après le 10 mars, et la dernière semaine, c'était des trombes d'eau jour et nuit.
La plage avait disparu, il y avait un mètre 50 de sable en bord de mer, impressionnant.
Il faut dire que lors du tsunami, ce village a été protègé car la plage est assez haute, donc la vague s'est essouflée, et il n'y a eu aucun mort, seulement un mètre d'eau dans les rues.
Contrairement à Kaolak, situé à 40 kilomètres, où il y a eu 6000 morts, dont on n'a pas entendu parler aux infos, l'attention étant fixée sur Phuket où il n'y a eu que 600 morts.
Kaolak est un village peuplé surtout de touristes, Allemands et Hollandais, avec des résidences agréables, des hôtels et une plage plate.

Je sais qu'un village Musulman a eu 60 morts lors des intempéries, que le tremblement de terre à Bangkok était de 6 sur l'échelle de Richter, mais je ne puis en dire plus.

Etant à bkk, juste une précision... Le tremblement de terre, c'était dans le nord, vers Chiang Rai... Epicentre, pas bien clair aux infos... Birmanie, Thailande ???
Ca a secoué un peu à bkk, mais jamais à 6 sur l'échelle à Richter ! Il y aurait eu des dégats ! Ici rien à part quelques fissures de plus sur certains batiments (peut-être ceux qui ont juste passé les tests après l'arnaque du ciment au sable... dans les années 90 sauf erreur).
Et le temps ici, nickel à part une vague de froid... On attends la neige de russie (cf un message rigolo).
Par contre en Essan ils manquent d'eau !

😉Merci pour ces informations, j'étais à 35 kms de Phuket, et donc loin de Bangkok;
ce sont deux voyageurs à l'aéroport qui m'ont parlé de ce tremblement de terre.
j'ai pris l'avion le 3 avril, heureux de rentrer après 3 mois passés dans ce village de Phang gna, où il n'y a rien, sinon trois restaurants.
Seulement la fête des tortues du 1er au 10 mars, qui a amené pas mal de commerçants qui ont installé leur stands.
Et aussi manège, théâtre, orchestre, etc .
La grande roue entre autre, très jolie avec des cages en guise de siège.

comme toute prévision, ma prévision est valable pour la région, mais pas forcément localement, surtout en zone inter-tropicale.
entre Paris et Rouen, il y a 150 km à vol d'oiseau .. et les pluies ne sont pas identiques : idem entre deux villes thaïlandaises $$ mes prévisions concernent l'espace allant de Prachuap Kiri Kan jusqu'à la frontière sud avec la Malaisie.$$ (je vais essayer de les rendre plus précises).
- elles s'actualisent comme suit : la prévision assez fortement pluvieuse pour sam-dim est translatée à dim-lundi - pluies vend 8 avr vers 15h sur la zone allant de la fontière birmane à Kho Phi Phi, surtout coté Ouest, mais couvrant aussi la zone allant de Kho Tao à Kho Samui, ces pluies devant durer toute l'après-midi jusqu'en milieu de nuit, - pluies vers Chumphon le samedi "matin", en fin de nuit de vendredi, pouvant durer la plupart du temps jusqu'à samedi soir, couvrant progressivement les îles coté Ouest de l'isthme, à et au sud de Ranong, mais aussi l'intérieur des terres, devenant plus fortes vers 14h locales, s'étendant jusqu'au golfe de Krabi, arrêt de ces pluies durant la nuit, - pluies sur les îles du golfe de Th dim à minuit (nuit de sam), s'accroissant progressivement tout le dimanche ... et oui je sais que parfois selon endroit il fait pas le même temps.
ex : parfois il pleut à karon beach et pas à patong distance très faible... ou il pleut vers l'aéroport et pas vers les plages du côté de kata karon etc

tu as tout à fait raison. tiens, par exemple, rien qu'à Saint Ayghulin (17), pas trop loin de Blaie (Blaye, avec l'accent), parfois, il pleut sur la rive gauche de la Dronne, précisément sur le méridien de Greenwich** .. et pas une goutte sur le supermarché qui est sur l'autre rive !...
à ce moment là, quand je n'y comprends plus rien, carrément je file sur Lacanau et là, je m'étends au soleil. plus de soucis ! (enfin .. du sable entre les orteils et ailleurs aussi).

mais peux tu stp me donner ton site météo où c'est très détaillé par zone de pluie etc pour la thailande .. bcp mieux que ce que l'on trouve ailleurs sur le net où c'est juste des soleil avec des nuages ou des gouttes de pluie etc

Hello sur bkk hier et ce matin nikel mais de la pluie et des nuages sur pattaya ca ressemble a un mois de septembre pour ceux qui connaissent mais l avantage c est que c est respirable contrairemment a d habitude ou avril c est l enfer !!!
et ce matin ciel laiteu mais ca risk de se degager

- pluies généralisées sur toute les terres, surtout sur l'ouest, $$de Prachuap jusqu'au centre de la Malaisie, jusqu'à ce soir
- pluies sur zone Kho Lipe ce soir et dans la nuit
- mardi après-midi : pluies modérées sur l'ensemble de la région $$ (atteignant Kho Phi Phi)
- mercredi matin : pluies sur le Golfe de Siam, touchant Kho Tao et ses deux soeurs ainées; retour des pluies sur côte Ouest (Ranong) dans l'après-midi, perdurant jusqu'au soir.
- pluies sur Chumphon ds la nuit de merc à jeudi
- pluies sur Krabi jeudi fin d'après-midi
- vendredi après-midi : pluies éparses sur la côte Ouest, s'interrompant à la nuit.

J'ai vu cela , je me suis dis que j'allais tenter le truc ... ca doit être un site pessimiste qui annonce que de la pluie , jamais de soleil
j'ai fait plein de recherches et j'ai pas trouvé de site qui donnent autant de détails de la sorte....comme lui les rédigent..
bref .. tant pis attendons la suite des prévisions....

je le considère comme assez sérieux (j'aimerais avoir quelques échos sur mes prévisions, de la part de touristes ou farangs in situ .. est-ce trop demander ?)
pour l'heure, voici les dernières prévisions : - grosses pluies sur tout le Golfe de Thailande dès cette nuit (lun-mar) et demain matin mardi, incluant bien sur Kho Samui et ses deux petites soeurs .. - retour des pluies sur toute la côte ouest, de la Birmanie jusqu'à la baie de Phan Nga, Kho Phi Phi et Kho Lanta, voire même jusqu'à Langkawi (Malaisie) - beau temps mardi ( ! ) (mafplanete91 ...) - beaucoup de pluies (fon tok mak mak) mercredi après-midi, sur l'intérieur et la cote ouest, de Ranong à toute la Malaisie. Persistance baie de Phan Nga et Krabi pour mercredi soir et nuit. - pluies sur Kho Tao etc nuit merc-jeudi + matin.
c'est tout pour "aujourd'hui !" et les Shadocks pompaient ...

+1 la géographie des lieux joue aussi beaucoup , parfois (souvent , même très souvent ) il pleut ou fait gris en nord loire a Saint Nazaire , quand il fait plus beau en sud loire sur Saint brevin pourtant distant de 5/6 km avec la loire qui coupe les deux ... Niveau température , c'est la même , quand il fait 26/27 a Nantes , il ne fait que 22/23 chez moi , la mer jouant son role ( ce qui est franchement plus agréable en hiver , ou en 7 ans j'ai du connaitre 2/3 température en dessous de 0 )

Un avantage, les chiens qui d'ordinaire amassés en meute qui aboyaient toute la nuit sur le champ devant ma maison, avaient déserté pour se mettre à l'abri. Le chat idem, pas de miaulement à deux heures du matin.
Je suis arrivé le 4 janvier, et à l'aéroport, ceux qui avaient passé le mois de décembre en vacances, étaient très déçus, la période des pluies s'est prolongée. Début janvier, quelques averses le soir, juste pour te rafraîchir les idées lorsque tu reviens du restau. Gros rouleaux en mer d'Andaman à Phang Nga, jusqu'au 20 janvier, baignade risquée. tout le mois de février, ce fût le paradis, soleil, mer d'huile. début mars, arrivage de méduses par paquets de 100, impossible de se risquer dans l'eau.
Et ensuite averses, d'abord le soir, ou en fin d'AM, et ensuite nuit et jour, des trombes d'eau. Rues défoncées, flaques partout, etc........ Nos amis anglais qui sont rentrés le 6 avril, nous ont dit que le 4, la mer de nouveau était ainsi que le temps au beau fixe. Et en rentrant en Angleterre, ils avaient 28 degrés, idem pour moi dans le sud-est.
Comme quoi, la planète devient folle, la période des pluies sous les tropiques ne sait plus à quel saint se vouer. Et en Europe, on a les tee shirts fin mars.................

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before: - Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way). Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan. Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide). Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre. Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island. Day 10 – Head to Semporna. Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai. Day 15 – Bohey Dulang. Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous. I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing. I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture. But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary. If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.

For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!

Sandakan → Sepilok: No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??
Sandakan → Semporna: From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄). Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM. Where do I board, and where does it drop me off?

For those familiar with SOUTHEAST ASIA, I'm planning to leave in mid-June (with the trip ending at the latest in November), and I don’t have a precise idea of exact places or itineraries yet. The thing is, this period is usually the rainy season...
Any advice? I was thinking of Malaysia or Indonesia, like Sulawesi, for example (all countries and islands in Southeast Asia interest me except Bali).
Any recommendations? I’m doing my research online, but if anyone here has the time and knowledge, I’d love to hear from you.

It’ll be our first time in Asia, and we’re thinking of hitting the classic spots in East Java and Bali, then wrapping up with a cruise around Komodo for some snorkeling/diving. My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

July 30: Makassar – sightseeing July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts) August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar August 17: Rammang Rammang August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home
Overall, what do you think?
I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
