We're a family with two kids aged 15 and 12 planning to visit Malaysia and Borneo. We'd like to travel from 23/07/2025 to 20/08/2025, which is almost 4 full weeks on the ground. We've made good progress but would love some advice. We're planning a flight from Paris to Singapore.

Singapore – 2 days Malaysia: Malacca Kuala Lumpur Cameron Highlands Pulau Pangkor Taman Negara National Park Georgetown and Penang Island Perhentian Islands Other islands on the west coast Tioman

Borneo: Semporna Archipelago Turtle Island National Park Traditional village in Sarawak Gunung Mulu National Park Borneo jungles to see orangutans

Do you think this is doable or not?

Thanks in advance for your replies

Hi there! To get to Gunung Mulu—double-check this—but you can only fly there. Twin Otter flights from Miri with Malaysian Airlines depart daily. From what I remember, the flight cost around a hundred ringgit. It’s an absolute must-do. Plan for at least 3-4 days there. Same goes for Taman Negara

Hi there, We’re planning a 3-week trip to Borneo, arriving in Kuching. We’re thinking of visiting Bako National Park and the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre and staying around 5 days. The rest is a bit tricky for me to organize. We’re not big sports enthusiasts, but we’d love to see the wildlife and flora. I’ve heard there’s a place where we can see elephants. I’d love to visit the Sandakan region and explore, but it seems complicated to get there from Kuching. To finish our trip, we’d like to stop on an island for some diving—I’ve read that Sipadan Island is a beautiful spot. If you can help me plan the rest of our trip, thanks so much! Cécile

I would’ve loved to go to the SANDAKAN area and explore, but it seems complicated to get there from Kuching

For one thing, I don’t think there’s a road between Kuching and Sandakan. The only option is to fly, but unfortunately, you’ll have to connect through KL to make the trip.
