Bonjour,
Voilà que la date de mon premier voyage en Thaïlande approche (du 15/02 au 1/03 soit 13 jours sur place avec arrivée à 12h et départ à 23h30) et je suis toujours indécise sur le parcours... Dur dur d'organiser ce voyage, beaucoup trop court pour tant de choses à voir !
Je voulais tout d'abord faire Bangkok, le nord et le sud avec trajets en avion mais je pense que je vais beaucoup survoler et du coup pas profiter. Comme je voudrais faire 3/4 jours autour de la plage je pensais donc faire :
- 2 jours Bangkok (1 jour 1/2 en fait, j'arrive vers midi) + 1 le dernier jour (départ à 23h30)
- Ayutthaya avec nuit sur place
- Vol vers le sud
Et là je ne sais plus que choisir : Koh Lanta ou Khao Lak pour ses alentours ?
j'aurai aimé faire
- le parc de Khao Sok (l'idéal 1 nuit dans les arbres, 1 nuit sur le lac mais au vu de ce que j'ai trouvé ça revient très cher si on ajoute des excursions comme safari de nuit, à l'aube sur le lac, randonnée...)
Du coup que me conseillez-vous ?
- La baie de Phang Nga avec une nuit dans le village moken.
Je pensais faire aussi les temples près de Phang Nga dans la montagne avant l'excursion à la baie, qui se ferait plutôt en fin d'aprem pour être plus tranquille ou après puisque j'arriverai dans la matinée apres ma nuit sur place ).
Y a-t-il possibilité de faire du canoë en louant directement de l'embarcadere ou sur le village, car je ne souhaitait pas passer par une excursion organisée.
- Du snorkelling : Y a t-il un endroit que vous conseillez pour cela, où on peut s'en mettre plein les yeux
- De la plongée, sachant qu'on est novice tous les 2 donc plutôt baptême. (moi j ai déjà fait 2 baptèmes mais y a bien 8 ans donc c'est loin)
J'avais pensé pour cela aller aux similan. Une copine y a été l'an dernier et a nagé avec les tortues, du coup j'ai dans la tête que je vais nager avec les tortues !
- Passer un moment avec les éléphants (sans forcément les monter) mais plutôt partager un temps de baignade ...
- Dormir dans un endroit qui fait rêvé sur la plage mais pas trop cher (par rêvé j'entends surtout l'emplacement sur une belle plage, pas forcément hôtel 5 étoiles)
Mes projets premiers étaient d'aller sur Khao Lak afin de profiter des similan, de la plage, voire des éléphants. (cependant il ne resterait que 2 jours 1/2, c'est vite fait)
L'idée était donc d’atterrir à Krabi (avec éventuellement 1 nuit sur Railey) puis Phang Nga, Khao Sok et Khao Lak, retour à Bangkok par l'avion de Phuket.
Puis mon ami a parlé de Koh Lanta. Que conseillez vous ?
Du coup peut-être qu'il serait mieux d'atterrir à Surat Thani, faire Khao Sok, Phang Nga, Railey et Koh Lanta (environ 3 jours).
Est-ce que Koh Lanta est interessante au niveau snorkelling, plongée, éléphant, jungle etc...
Railey vaut-il vraiment le coup ?
Je n'ai pas encore vérifier les horaires des avions.

Pour ce qui est du skorkeling/plongée en Thailande les iles "spécialisées" sont koh Tao et koh Lipe.
A koh Lanta, de ce que je sais le snorkeling sur l'ile même n'est pas terrible, c'est l'excursion "des 4 îles" qui vaut le coup.
A koh Tao tu peux remonter sur Bangkok via bateau + bus ou avion depuis Chumphon
A koh Lipe, Bateau+bus+avion depuis Hat yai.
Merci, j'ai effectivement vu que Koh lanta n'était pas le mieux pour le snork mais de toute façon, je n'y serai que 3/4 jours donc si je fais une excursion bapteme de plongée et une excursion à Ko Rok qui a l'air superbe, je crois que j'aurai ce qu'il me faut 🙂
Apres j'hésitais entre Koh Lanta et Khao Lak comme point de chute.
Peut-on se déplacer sur Koh Lanta sans scooter ? (bus, taxi ???vélo ? ) car je n'ai pas le permis moto.

Pas simple de vous conseiller, si vous allez a Khao Sok le plus simple c'est Krabi et Khao Lak pour aller aux Similans si c'est votre but (c'est la bonne période) 😉 Par contre Lanta est la plus grande île de Thailande après Phuket et il y a de nombreuses choses a faire et a voir sur l'île dont de nombreuses excursions ou le snorkeling est excellent mais pas trop depuis Lanta même 🙂 Sinon oubliez Surathani pour atterrir a Krabi ou Phuket ca sera beaucoup plus simple et rapide (Krabi me parait le mieux si vous choisissez d'y rester quelques jours et d'aller a Lanta). Pour les éléphants il y a en a un peu partout a Krabi, a Phuket, a Lanta et surement du coté de Khao Lak. A mon avis si vous allez aux Similans privilégiez Khao Lak sinon allez sur Koh Lanta 😎 Pour Ayyuthaya une demi journée suffit pour visiter les principaux centres historiques si cela peut vous faire gagner une nuit 😉

En fait comme je n'ai jamais fait de plongée, il s'agirait de faire un baptême, donc une plongée peu profonde. Je ne sais pas du coup si je dois aller jusqu'aux similan, qui sont peut-être plus interessates quand on peut aller plus profond ou me contenter d'une plongée près de Koh Lanta, qui doivent être quand même sympa non ? .
J'ai lu qu'il y avait de beaux spots aussi par là-bas et notamment le snorkelling à Koh Rok.
Koh Rok c'est l'ile ou à été tournée l'émission koh lanta sur tf1 il me semble.Nul doute que ce doit être magnifique.
Je précise que je n'ai jamais été à Lanta, j'y vais en Mars🙂.

Si ta priorité c'est khao sok pourquoi veux tu redescendre pour du snorkeling à koh lanta alors que tu as le spot le plus réputé que sont les similans justa à coté?

Khao Lak, j'ai une amie qui l'a fait il y a 2 ans et qui a adoré, du coup, c'est elle qui m'a influencé pour aller vers ce coin. Mais elle, ne faisait que des excursions à la journée (baie, Khao Sok) ce qui lui laissait plus de temps sur place.
En fait je pensais atterrir à Surath Thani dans l'option
Surat Thani --> Khao Sok --> Phang Nga --> Krabi/Railey -->Koh Lanta
Pour Ayutthaya, je comptais y dormir une nuit pour une question pratique : déposer les bagages et y partir directement le lendemain matin pour le sud puisque j'ai vu que c'était plus court d'aller à l'aeroport avec un bus que de retourner à Bangkok. J'ai peur que de faire Bkk - Ayu - aeroport - le sud dans la même journée soit un peu la course et je ne saurai que faire des bagages. Il faudrait sinon que je me renseigne sur les derniers horaires de bus et d'avion .
Mais certains disaient aussi qu'à la tombée de la nuit Ayutthaya était très joli !
D'ailleurs à quelle heure tombera la nuit mi février ?
Savez-vous où je peux trouver des horaires de bus d'actualité ?

Je ne sais pas trop où enlever à vrai dire ! Tout a l'air très beau et je voudrais essayer de diversifier les activités.
Bah en fait, j'ai pas trop de base à mon voyage, c'est surtout de l'itinérant pour ne pas perdre de temps dans les trajets. Je voudrais faire Khao Sok et Phang Nga, et Phang Nga est à mi chemin entre Phuket et Krabi, comme Phuket ne m'attire pas du tout, je comptais atterrir à Krabi pour y rester une journée, plus particulierement à Railay.
Du coup que je fasse Koh Lanta 2/3 jours ou Khao Lak 2/3 jours, ça ne me change pas grand chose au niveau trajet car soit je commence par Khao Sok et je me dirige vers Krabi et Koh Lanta

Apres je voulais faire une journée plongée et une journée snorkelling, approcher les éléphants, aller sur la plage siroter un cocktail au coucher du soleil ... Et tout ça apparement je peux le faire aux 2, du coup, j'arrive pas à me décider !

Les distances étant assez proches, les journées de tansit permettent de faire également des activités.
Je n'avais pas l'impression de devoir courir, au vu de certains itinéraires que j'ai lu.

J'ai bien pensé faire le choix sur place mais je voulais réserver l'avion et il me semblait plus judicieux d'atterrir à Surath Thani qui a l'air assez proche de Khao Sok dans le cas où je finirai à Koh Lanta, et partir de Krabi.
Sinon arrivée à Krabi pour finir à Khao Lak et retour par Phuket.

Il faut d'abord te dire que ns sommes mon mari et moi des personnes d'environ 60 ans et que nous avons une forte corpulence ts les deux ( ça aura son importance....)
je compte atterir à krabi, y rester 3 jours, pour les excursions j'hesite car loger ds les arbres n'est peut être plus de notre âge et les iles similans ; nous ne faisons pas de plongée....donc???? il rest ao nang...
c'est ici qu'intervient notre corpulence...., si nous desirons faire du snorkeling ( tout au long de notre voyage ), c'est avec les long trails et je pense que ça va être TRES difficile pour remonter ds le bateau??????
penses tu que nous devrions essayer de trouver des plages avec des eaux suffisament claires et poissonneuses et y nager simplement avec le tuba....???? ( si tu en connais ça me ferait plaisir..) plutôt que de ns risquer à ne pas savoir remonter ds le bateau au large?????

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. For those familiar with SOUTHEAST ASIA, I'm planning to leave in mid-June (with the trip ending at the latest in November), and I don’t have a precise idea of exact places or itineraries yet. The thing is, this period is usually the rainy season...
Any advice? I was thinking of Malaysia or Indonesia, like Sulawesi, for example (all countries and islands in Southeast Asia interest me except Bali).
Any recommendations? I’m doing my research online, but if anyone here has the time and knowledge, I’d love to hear from you.
My partner and I are planning a trip to Indonesia in September-October 2026. It’ll be our first time in Asia, and we’re thinking of hitting the classic spots in East Java and Bali, then wrapping up with a cruise around Komodo for some snorkeling/diving. My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?
