Je vais travailler à Burnaby, donc je cherche à me loger dans un quartier tout d'abord sécurisé, à 30 min de mon travail en transport commun. Voici donc mes questions les amis :
1) Quels sont les quartiers à éviter?
2) Ma compagnie est dans le coin de Burnaby metrotown, où est-ce que je peux chercher un one bedroom ou une collocation qui ne dépasse pas les 900 dollars tout inclus et qui est à 30 min via le transport publique?
3) Concernant le transport publique, j'ai regardé sur le net mais je n'arrive pas à bien assimiler le fonctionnement du réseau de transport à Vancouver. Est-ce qu'un abonnement de 2 ou 3 zones permet d'utiliser le bus et le sky-train, ou faut-il s'abonner et au bus et au sky-train?
4) Puisque je pars dans 3 semaines, est-ce qu'il est correct de contacter dès maintenant les propriétaires pour plannifier un rendez-vous de visite? Les 3 ou 4 premiers jours je vais me loger dans un hôtel le temps d'aller voir sur place des appartements ou des chambres...
Si j'exagère dans mes demandes n'hésitez pas à me réveiller de mon sommeil :P

Salut j'avais une grande chambre en colocation à Burnaby justement à côté de la station Nanaimo , internet + télé, cuisine et sanitaires commun pour 500 dollars.
Mais c'était il y a 7ans les prix ont certainement augmenté donc tabler plutôt dans les 600-700 dollars regarder sur kijiji.ca ou craiglist.org on trouve facilement
Sinon dans le Downton c'est évidemment plus cher
Les quartiers à éviter c'est East Hastings à l'Est de Gastown et la Main Street là où il ya la gare Greyhound
A Burnaby il y a le Deer Park très beau parc urbain comme celui de Stanley..avec de belles propriétés immobilières autour
Par contre question animation nocturne il n'y a absolument rien à Burnaby à ma connaissance il faut aller sur Granville Street ou Robson dans le Downton.

non c'est pour tous les transports y compris le bateau pour North Vancouver
Tu peux tenter de loger à New Westminster il y a 2 ou 3 stations de skytrain.
C'est un peu une banlieue de population à revenus modestes de Vancouver.
Mais c'est pas aussi mal famé que East Hastings; quoique ce quartier ait évolué et été réhabilité.
Il y a aussi Surrey desservie en Skytrain ; les loyers à Surrey et NM seront bien moins élevés qu'à Richmond ou Downton

essayer d'avoir un contact téléphonique avec le propriétaire, ça permet de formaliser les choses de manière concrète.

...sinon loger en hôtel à Vancouver ça coûte cher même en auberge de jeunesse.

En effet, je suis en train de voir pour un éventuel travail a Burnaby (vers Willingdon avenue et Dawson St.) et je me demandais donc si c'etait simple d'habiter Vancouver même, dans les coin sympas, et d'aller travailler dans ce coin la vu que je n'aurai pas de voiture.
Et comment ca se passe pour toi la bas ? C'est cool la ville, la vie etc ? Je ne connais pas du tout ce coin ( niveau Canada, j'ai seulement seulement vécu quelque mois en Ontario).
à Burnaby il n'y aura rien c'est le quartier résidentiel à l'est de Vancouver donc opportunités proche du zéro.La majorité des entreprises se concentrent dans le Dowtown sinon éventuellement Richmond où il y a une zone industrielle

Mais en skytrain aller dans le Dowton ça se fait très vite, dans les 20minutes pour arriver à Granville Street
Si tu veux bouger il faut aller sur Granville Street ou Robson cette longue rue qui arrive au Stanley Park
La majorité des pubs, discos sont sur Granville Street dans le Dowton
Et je voulais par la meme occasion ton ressenti sur la ville et la vie la bas, vu que tu dois y etre depuis qqes mois maintenant, car pour tout dire j’hésite beaucoup... voila :)

Je me suis bien installé. Je peux te rassurer que t'as fait le bon choix de venir à BC. Tu peux facilement habiter au downtown et travailler à Burnaby surtout que le skytrain est vraiment très rapide (20 min de Granville station au Metrotown station). Granville, Robson street et Gastown sont des endroits vivants avec plein de pub, resto etc... Night life is there ! D'autre côté la ville est vraiment belle, je l'ai bcp aimé et je ne reviendrai plus vivre dans les villes mortes et glaciales ! Une chose importante à prendre en compte, louer est très cher au downtown mais c'est mérité ! T'as rien à craindre c pas pour rien que cette ville est considéré parmis les meilleures villes au monde. J'espère que ceci peux t'éclaircir un peu les choses.

Bonjour, super projet! Vancouver est la ville la plus ''en demande'' au monde. Mais si vos enfants sont francophones, pensez-y bien avant de les envoyer à l'école anglaise.😉

1000 CAD ça fait vraiment juste pour une famille c'est un budget pour une personne seule ou bien un couple.
Ou alors il faut aller vers l'Est à Surrey.
Sinon pour se loger à Vancouver le dowton , UBC sont les quartiers les plus onéreux
Reste North Vancouver mais c'est loin de Commercial Drive donc il faut choisir l'est comme Burnaby ou Surrey, New Westminster.
Ensuite pour ce qui est de la communauté francophone elle est petite à Vancouver contrairement à Toronto par exemple; il y a bien plus d'asiatiques.
Pour ce qui est de Commercial Drive elle donne sur la station Broadway c'est un endroit un peu animé mais c'est loin du Dowton et de Granville Street
Mais encore une fois avec 1000-1200 c'est pas assez pour se loger.
As-tu regardé sur Kijiji ?
Selon moi, 1200$ par mois n'est pas suffisant pour loger 5 ou 6 personnes à une distance raisonnable de Commercial Drive et d'une école francophone. Mais que considérez-vous raisonnable? Avez-vous considéré une autre ville moins chère?
PS: Il y a des écoles d'immersion française destinées aux Anglophones que certains francophones choisissent... avantages et inconvénients.

Chez nous les enfants sont deja dans une ecole francophone et a maurice on est bilingue. .. donc jaimerai savoir sil y avantages et desavantages De lecoles francophone et anglophone. ..et quel bonnes ecoles connaissez vous dans le coin Burnaby ou Surrey??
L'avantage des écoles francophones (langue maternelle) c'est que vos enfants vont travailler plus fort sur cette langue un peu plus difficile à apprendre que l'anglais. Ils apprendront tout de même l'anglais, le programme est celui du cours d'anglais langue 1ère. Ils y seront exposés partout (rue, médias, amis, etc.). Dans bien des écoles francophones de langue première, les jeunes finissants ont de meilleurs résultats en anglais (test standardisés) que les anglos de l'école anglaise.

de Surrey ça peut prendre plus de 30minutes.
Pour ce qui est de Burnaby en fait pas beaucoup de stations, j'habitais à côté de la station Nanaimo et le skytrain était à proximité.

J'Ai une amie qui viens d'arriver a Vancouver et Elle a pu trouver une maison a Kitsilano a $1500... 2...3mins des ecoles et tout est a proximiter... jespere quand nous trouverons quelques choses dans ce prix la au max!! Pour lecole je me documente et jhesite Un peu sur le French Immersion ou Francophone!!
Tout dépend quel niveau de bilinguisme vous voulez pour vos enfants. Pour une connaissance correcte de l'anglais et une assez bonne base en français, choisissez l'immersion. Pour l'excellence dans les 2 langues, les résultats des tests standardisés sont clairs... 😉

Je ne crois pas que West Broadway soit un quartier spécifique de Vancouver. C'est plutôt un long boulevard allant de la rue Ontario (quartier Mount Pleasant), traversant tout le quartier Fairview jusqu'à un point un peu dépassé la rue Alma vers l'ouest dans Kitsilano. Faudrait savoir au coin de quelle rue l'académie est située. La ligne Millenium et une partie de la ligne B du Sky Train suivent (en gros) West Broadway. 😉
