Hi everyone, We’ll be spending 3 days in Khao Sok during our trip to Thailand in March 2025. Could anyone share some great tips on: Accommodation, excursions, and dining? Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

Forgive my curiosity, but after 10 trips to Thailand, you still haven’t managed to plan your stays online?

Thanks for your reply to my post. The site’s also for swapping tips with folks who’ve already been to places I haven’t. So, please don’t reply to my requests anymore.

I’m surprised by your rather offhand response. Actually, for long stays, I’ve always done my prep online. It takes a bit of time, but you get there in the end, and what’s more, you uncover loads of really interesting places that forums don’t always mention. I’ve been doing this for a good dozen years now, and over time, I’ve noticed there’s more and more info out there. So I was surprised you didn’t find anything, especially for Khao Sok, which is far from being known only to insiders. By the way, if you’re working on the zen side, I should mention there’s a lovely little Laotian temple in west Montpellier.

Dear Sir, You must have a lot of free time to scan posts and make your little comments. As for my research, I’ll let you be the judge of whether it makes you feel better—I don’t think I need your advice. However, a recent review on this site has always been a supplement to my research. Now, regarding the zen side—thank you 😌🏼 for your advice, but being zen is probably something you’ve never learned after all your years in the places of my roots. Please, Sir, forget me and, above all, don’t reply to me again. Stay zen.

It's no secret that the village of Khao Sok has merged with the national park (or maybe it's the other way around—I don’t know the history), and as far as I know, there’s absolutely nothing in the immediate surroundings. Just nature, though, which isn’t nothing. Khao Sok comes across as a purely tourist village, with mostly hotels from what I’ve seen. The bus/minivan activity seemed pretty intense.

At HQ, make sure to find and pay a ranger for hikes—you’re not allowed to do them alone. It’s pretty impressive to step right into the real jungle on a narrow trail lined with plants and dead leaves where all kinds of critters can hide.

By the way, there’s a "Search" function in the blue banner at the top of every page. Don’t misinterpret this info again—I’ve used this feature often, and it’s saved me from asking a lot of questions.

After 42 years of work, I do have some free time now, and I’m sorry if you don’t. But those of us with free time have to use some of it to answer the mountain of questions on forums—otherwise, forums would just be filled with people asking questions.

All in all, a pretty uninteresting place...

On another note, this reminds me of someone who, if my info is correct, was banned from here but still loved the king’s songs, even though they only ever gave back a few crumbs. Those people who live off others but get exposed pretty quickly.

It’s a real labor of love to dedicate your free time to this. Respect, because I gave up on it a long, long time ago...

Hi there,

Here’s a map of the park already:

Three accommodation zones: the western part (hikes), the pier area (east), and right on the lake (by boat).

Hi there, We spent 3 nights in Khao Sok in March 2023. Khao Sok River Jungle Hotel was super nice with friendly staff. It’s just a stone’s throw from the park entrance and there are plenty of little restaurants nearby. The hotel arranged a day trip on the lake for us, and it’s a truly unforgettable memory.

Hi there,

During my last trip to Thailand, I stayed at the Yasmine Garden Resort. It’s well located, near the village and the park entrance, close to restaurants. Contact them directly by email—it’s usually a better deal than on Booking. We booked our excursions through the resort. In my opinion, the lake is the only thing that’s really worth it (it’s absolutely stunning). You can also explore the park, which is very lush and humid. Other classic activities include rafting (pretty fun) and visiting elephants (great if you’re traveling with kids). All the hotels in the village offer these excursions at more or less the same prices. We never spent the night on the lake.

Hi Agnès,

Do you have this map in PDF or JPEG format so I can print it? If so, could you send it to me by email?🙂

Just type into Google: Khao Sok national park maps Then click on "Images" and you’ll find tons of maps, including this one.

Yes, that’s for sure, but if Agnès scanned the original as either a JPEG or PDF, the map will be much clearer. I do this with Lens and the sharpness is great.

By the way, Cruchot, how about a little recap of your 2025 vacation for the other (future) travelers?

Hi Carmen,

No, it’s not a scanned map—just an image I found online that I probably didn’t even save.

Sorry!
